07:41 ambro718 Hey, where could one get a cheap IMU (inertial measurement unit) that connects via USB?
07:42 ambro718 a 6-axis thing that integrates data internally and just gives me position/orientation
07:43 Tom_itx maybe acroname?
07:44 Martiini do you guys know about production robots?
07:45 Martiini I'm trying to learn welding robot programming
07:45 Tom_itx no
07:46 Martiini you have any idea? kuka abb fanuc ...
07:47 Martiini there is simply controller unit with screen and keyboard? ..or some special type of input screens ..
07:48 Martiini I'll have to call one of these companies and ask, I think
07:48 Tom_itx <Martiini> do you guys know about production robots?
07:48 Tom_itx no
07:48 ambro718 I hear these things often involve LabView...
07:50 Martiini no

11:08 rue_house ok I'm getting closer to being awake
11:09 Tom_itx good cause the sun is getting closer to going down
13:41 rue_shop2 I lost the U2 based avr programmer...
13:44 rue_shop2 sure it'll turn up, but hmmm
15:49 rue_house found it, a project slipped down between the computer and the desk
15:54 GuShH rue_house: sounds like a small project
15:54 rue_house breadboard with avr
15:54 rue_house its a project I forgot about,
15:54 rue_house avr code to emulate a LM75 i2c sensor
16:09 Tom_itx it's not like there aren't more where it came from
16:12 rue_shop2 !! :) the oven controller says hello world
16:18 Tom_itx does it cook it then?
16:22 rue_shop2 not yet, its just got its screen working
16:22 rue_shop2 and now its beeper works
16:31 rue_shop2 encoder button works
20:54 blib anyone here?
20:54 rue_shop2 yup
20:54 rue_shop2 I dont know who tho
20:57 blib hi rue_shop2
20:58 blib I've a computer PSU which gives 12v 40A - when I switch it on from the back, nothing happens. Is there something I need to do to get power out of it?
21:02 GuShH blib: green wire to any black wire, tie them together.
21:02 GuShH if it's atx which it should be
21:02 GuShH no friggin AT in the world would've supplied 40A on a 12v rail
21:02 GuShH and in that case, it should just turn on, otherwise it's burnt up
21:10 blib GuShH: Thanks
21:11 blib GuShH: I've a Corsair CX600 - it says 12v 40A on the psu?
21:11 Tom_itx that's just to get you to buy it
21:12 blib Tom_itx: How much would it actually supply? I'm trying to connect it to a battery charger that claims I should give it 500W.
21:12 Tom_itx no idea
21:13 blib http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028 - Am trying to power this -- http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__17422__TURNIGY_MEGA_400W_V2_Lithium_Polymer_Battery_Charger_Version_2_.html
21:19 GuShH Tom_itx: and he bought it!
21:20 blib GuShH: Was that a mistake ? :)
21:20 GuShH lol
21:20 blib a joke? :) lol
21:20 GuShH well 500W at 12v is around 42A
21:20 blib GuShH: It says on the PSU 12v 40A max = 480W
21:20 GuShH and I highly doubt one of those PSUs can safely supply 42A
21:21 blib the awg of the wire seems like they lied.
21:21 GuShH blib: most of the specs are marketing stunts
21:21 GuShH you need all wires together
21:22 blib There are only 2 x 12V at least for the main connector: http://pinouts.ru/Power/atx_v2_pinout.shtml
21:22 GuShH there could be separate ones
21:22 GuShH that's an old spec also
21:23 GuShH anyway you can't draw 40A from one nor two of those wires unless you want them to melt, assuming it can supply 40A to begin with!
21:24 blib I know that graphics cards are rated at 170W, and they do work with the 12v
21:24 blib but 400W, not sure
