03:43 Tom_itx been doing some rewiring as i go
06:23 Veverak RifRaf: your last blog post, that gear wheels
06:23 Veverak look awesome!
08:11 codepython7771 are there any good kits for robotics work (wires/spacers/jumpers/...) that one recommends?
08:15 deshipu just get a bunch of pin headers and dupont cables
08:17 codepython7771 deshipu: i was trying to buy them from pololu = shipping looks very high
08:18 codepython7771 I need them this week thou
08:23 deshipu where are you based?
08:23 deshipu I'm sure there is some electronics shop nearby
08:26 codepython7771 deshipu: I found a hobby shop nearby
08:26 codepython7771 which has stuff overpriced, and a very small selection.
08:27 codepython7771 deshipu: there is a radioshack nearby, do they sell stuff? good lipo charger selection?
08:43 deshipu codepython7771: I'm not sure, they used to be nice, but I don't live in US so I don't know the current status, you can certainly try
08:44 deshipu codepython7771: I order most stuff from China nowadays
08:44 codepython7771 deshipu: the problem with china stuff is that it takes too much time to come
08:47 deshipu yeah, you have to plan
12:33 blib has anyone used lead-acid batteries for robots here?
13:16 GuShH blib: I bet rue has.
13:17 GuShH you use what you have, everything else is just a constraint you put yourself into as an excuse.
19:51 Jak_o_Shadows magnetic vise jaw soft covers
20:18 wolfmanjm love this concept :) the grippers especially are impressive http://dangerousprototypes.com/?p=85398
20:21 Jak_o_Shadows he... isn't using standard hobby servos
20:22 wolfmanjm no he found even Nema23 wasn;t torquey enough he is switchiong to DC motors with encoders
20:23 GuShH nema23 just defines the size standard, has nothing to do with torque
20:23 Jak_o_Shadows I like his base design, through those don't quite look like enough of a thrust bearing
20:24 Jak_o_Shadows the rest of the arm is good in that the motors don't make up the joints
20:25 GuShH "entirely printable" poor choice of words
20:26 Jak_o_Shadows I don't entirely see the point of it being entirely printable, especially when you should be considering weight
20:26 wolfmanjm yea :) he uses a lot of non-printed parts but still it is a nice project, he has not published the grippers yet
20:27 Jak_o_Shadows At the moment it looks like he's just manually controlling the gripper motors. He'll probably need to get fancy, (current sensing for stalling?)
20:32 GuShH rue_shop2: so on the small turret lathe the trigger kept hitting the cover and it wouldn't lock properly after indexing on each cycle, so I had to mill a pocket for clearance.. http://i.imgur.com/5GvncsF.jpg But here's the annoying bit, right after I'm done with that the rack and pinion fails and one teeth of the pinion shears clean off. Time to make some proper pinions... Well at least 2...
20:32 GuShH ...or 3 to have spares. I realize they used terrible butter steel and it wasn't even hardened, so it was going to fail eventually.
20:33 GuShH shouldn't be too bad with the indexing head, after I grind the proper profile on the toolbit (will try to fly-cut each teeth)
20:33 GuShH so annoying.
20:34 GuShH "here's the last little detail to get it working properly -- oh I guess it's not over now"
20:47 Jak_o_Shadows I might have the belt sander clamped upside down to the bench at the moment
21:07 rue_shop3 WHAT I CANT HEAR YOU OVER THE BENCH SANDER
21:10 Jak_o_Shadows ahaha. Yeah, i should get earmuffs
21:50 GuShH ...
21:50 Tom_itx .
22:32 rue_shop3 wiring the oven controller
22:32 rue_shop3 all the grounds are finished
22:32 rue_shop3 the 12V lines are finished
22:32 rue_shop3 working on the 5V
22:33 Tom_itx don't get em crossed
