00:01 Hyratel a 360 degree servo is MUCH more expensive than a 180* servo
00:51 MjrTom a servo just has a feedback mechanism, so you could make your own servo by adding a feedback system to a non servo motor
06:13 GuShH rue_house: http://gushh.net/blog/easy-tailstock-alignment/
06:13 GuShH I should take some pics to illustrate, but it's quite simple
06:16 GuShH However I've yet to determine how exactly the tailstock got off center in the first place
07:38 GuShH Meanwhile, in Russia... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olHnFWUoJX4
07:45 joga all that trouble to cut a bottle?
07:46 joga or, oh, nice
08:10 LiohAu_ I would like to understand why dynamixel servos are so expensive
08:10 LiohAu_ what is the difference between their servos, and hitec ones for example?
08:19 GuShH joga: he threads both ends :p
08:20 GuShH joga: russians are nuts though
08:29 choonway hitec servos - if you're talking about the cheap ones, are simple systems with fixed control systems
08:29 choonway dynamixel ones - well you get more control over it
08:30 LiohAu_ and what about herkulex?
08:30 choonway herkulex is in the same league as dynamixel no?
08:30 LiohAu_ I thought it was hitec < herculex < dynamixel
08:31 choonway you have to compare their specs
08:33 LiohAu_ comparing torque, current and so on is easy, but reliability, and the embedded electronics is harder :s
08:34 choonway the best way to find out is to buy one of each and find out. :)
08:34 choonway i've done a lot of hitec servos, the dumb ones
08:34 choonway you would go to a lot of trouble when the inertia of the load is high
08:34 choonway servo would go hunting
08:41 LiohAu_ choonway: do you think that an humanoïd head requires this kind of servos?
08:42 LiohAu_ For amrs, or legs I guess that the best products must be used
08:42 LiohAu_ a neck/head articulation ?
08:45 LiohAu_ (by "this kind" I meant, the expensives ones)
08:48 deshipu GuShH: just think how easy it makes to make a boat in a bottle!
09:08 GuShH haha, but the seam is visible!
09:27 rue_house its threaded, the crazy russian threaded a glass bottle with a lathe
10:01 GuShH rue_house: you know it! damn russians
10:01 GuShH wouldnt want all that glass dust on the ways
11:28 codepython777 https://www.servocity.com/html/313_rpm_hd_precision_planetary.html - does anyone have a recommendation for a motor to replace these motors. I want something with a quadrature encoder and preferably more powerful than these motors (in rpm, torque).
15:48 Veverak hmm
15:48 Veverak hmm
15:48 Veverak who told me that he will be on devconf in brno-czech republic?
15:51 deshipu me
15:51 deshipu I have a talk on saturday
15:51 deshipu at ~16
15:51 deshipu why?
15:51 Veverak which one? :D
15:52 Veverak deshipu: want to visti it
15:52 deshipu robots
15:52 Veverak got it
15:52 Veverak wow
15:52 Veverak deshipu: wo work on that thing that I wanted to use to render my crazy models
15:53 deshipu openscad?
15:53 Veverak hmmm
15:53 verak forgot to figure out if he can launch openscad on opens
15:53 Veverak maybe not so awesome idea of mine
16:22 GuShH Tom_itx: I found your next project https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRvUFABCJeY
21:06 renatonho Is anybody there?
21:07 FizzBuzzy is there anybody
21:07 FizzBuzzy OUT, THERE
21:07 devshark yea
21:07 devshark just... kinda idle.
21:08 renatonho First time here. I'm from brazil. Testing this app. Sorry about my poor english
21:08 devshark doesn't look bad really.
21:09 renatonho U guys work in robotics? Or this is just a hobbie?
21:10 devshark can't really speak for "u guys" but it was a hobby of mine. went to EuroBOT, did something, didn't really do that much with limited budget we had :)
21:11 devshark my impression that it's mostly hobbyists around here. yet, i could be wrong.
21:12 renatonho Nice. I will try to become regular here.
21:12 devshark it can get fun sometimes.
21:13 devshark (but rarely) :D
21:13 renatonho Nice. I'm trying to get my master degree
21:14 renatonho Multiagents.
21:16 devshark hmm... explain a bit better using more than one word please :)
21:17 renatonho Multi robots working together to do a common task
21:17 devshark aha aha ok :)
21:17 renatonho They help each other..
21:18 devshark yea yea, i understand now :)
21:19 devshark so, how do your agents formulate a collective plan?
21:21 renatonho Depends. They can negociate what goal is best for a general propose
21:21 devshark via bluetooth or ?
21:24 renatonho I simulate this on MATLAB
21:24 devshark wait, so ... no motors, actuators, servos and the like?
21:25 renatonho Bot really hahaha
21:25 devshark hm, kinda disappointed by that statement.
21:27 renatonho Its reaserch... New approachs. If this works on simulate i will try to put on real robots and stuff
21:29 devshark i dunno. have you heard of a statistician saying "tell me what you need to prove and I will find the proper data set to prove it" ?
21:29 devshark thats kinda how i see it.
21:29 devshark without messing with electronics, it's not really robotics, is it. it's just software engineering.
21:30 devshark being a software engineer myself, i have no problem with that.
21:32 renatonho I understand your point. But in my university i dont have resources to do my research in real robots. Hahahaha
21:32 devshark you think we did? :D i'm from serbia... we made our bot from chinese cheap parts.
21:34 devshark the robot that won eurobot that year was just a much more expensive version of our robot... well, they were pretty similar. ours had a 10 euro camera, theirs had a 2500 euro dual-lens camera.
21:35 devshark had a fuzzy controller and applied "reasoning" unlike other teams which simply made bots hardcoded to get the most points in the timeslot. :/ as far as i go, they simply wrote washing machine programs.
21:36 devshark (not that a fuzzy controller is something great... but still, it changed behaviours depending on its surroundings)
21:37 renatonho Really cool, man
21:37 renatonho It's nice to see other visions about that subject
21:38 devshark well, we tried software-ing everything we couldn't quite hardware.
21:38 renatonho 2500 euros is too much euros to me hahahaha
21:39 devshark damn right it is, thats just for the camera. what about other things, like motors, battery, wheels that don't slide....
21:39 devshark :D
21:39 renatonho This app have a private chat?
21:39 devshark not to mention odometric wheels that know how far they went.
21:39 devshark i dunno, try it out :D
