00:18 Tom_itx up and quit just like that
00:19 Tom_itx along with the contents
00:22 DagoRed :(
00:33 Tom_itx rue_more did you try that servo clip?
00:49 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reprap/Servo_clip_rnd.jpg
00:49 Tom_itx there's another one you can try
00:54 rue_shop3 heh, let me finish beating my head against an arduino
01:19 rue_shop3 does any of this arduino stuff actually work?
01:46 rue_shop3 *sigh*
01:53 rue_shop3 just_corey, well, the SD works
01:53 rue_shop3 Card type: SDHC
01:53 rue_shop3 Volume type is FAT32
01:53 rue_shop3 Volume size (bytes): 2143281152
01:53 rue_shop3 Volume size (Kbytes): 2093048
01:53 rue_shop3 Volume size (Mbytes): 2043
01:53 rue_shop3 Files found on the card (name, date and size in bytes):
01:53 rue_shop3 T_1-1~1.GCO 2014-04-25 16:23:40 425806
01:53 rue_shop3 BARA_M~1.GCO 2014-12-20 13:54:36 519898
01:53 rue_shop3 FLOWER.BMP 2014-12-20 22:47:18 230454
01:53 rue_shop3 HIBISCUS.BMP 2014-12-20 22:47:18 230454
01:53 rue_shop3 but the TFT lcd is all screwball
01:54 rue_shop3 good ole china, the connections dont seem to match ANYTHING on the internet
01:55 rue_shop3 I shall keep beating my head nonsensically against it
01:55 rue_shop3 and drinking tea, of which I am currently out of
12:54 ShH hands rue_shop3 some
12:57 GuShH rue_shop3: http://imgur.com/04qMiYw that wasn't the best idea.. but it worked
12:57 GuShH tapered items are a pita
12:58 GuShH that's "blackout" fabric in case you were wondering, I cover the ways with scraps of that stuff
13:00 rue_bed ?? ring mandril?
13:00 GuShH so when you take some emery cloth to a part or face a rusty part, you don't cover everything with crap
13:00 Tom_itx rue_bed did you see the servo connector?
13:01 GuShH ring mandril?
13:01 rue_bed whats the taptered thing
13:01 rue_bed Tom_itx, no... you talked about it
13:01 Tom_itx and posted jpg and code
13:02 rue_bed ... during the movie I went to?
13:02 GuShH a handle for a collet closer
13:02 Tom_itx probably
13:02 GuShH it had a broken 1/2" stud inside that I had to drill and remove
13:02 rue_bed GuShH, a collet puller? why would it be tapered?
13:02 GuShH then drill deeper and tap so I could install a new one, also clean up the surfaces while I was at it
13:02 GuShH dunno for show
13:03 GuShH most handles were tapered on these lathes
13:03 GuShH they had it brazed then welded, had to cut it off to remove the parts
13:03 rue_bed had they tried to turn it down and it caught?
13:03 GuShH all they needed was a longer stud, thread all the way into the housing and use a lock nut ffs
13:04 rue_bed Tom_itx, can you repost the connetor?
13:04 rue_bed Tom_itx, I spent some time yesterday trying to calibrate the machne better
13:04 GuShH rue_bed: no that was me :P
13:05 rue_bed hah, good one
13:05 GuShH but it already had marks and dings and rust everywhere
13:05 GuShH hey I admit it :p
13:05 rue_bed :)
13:05 GuShH took a chunk of hss bit across the room
13:05 rue_bed it looks like it got annoyed
13:05 GuShH never fun, always wear safety.
13:06 rue_bed half I bit went flying I presume
13:06 GuShH wouldn't know why I was restoring the part, should be happy
13:06 GuShH some things just want to remain the way they are.
13:07 GuShH the chucked end is threaded (assumed 3/8 standard but it wasn't ... I turned an aluminum knob for it, tapped it 3/8... didn't work out, they used some non standard pitch) anyway the aluminum shim eventually got loose
13:07 GuShH so yeah, bad idea I guess.
13:07 GuShH ideally you can turn a small mandrel, tap it and mount the part onto that, it will self lock, but the part is also slightly bent....
13:08 rue_bed maybe the thread is wootworth?
13:08 rue_bed might say something about its origins
13:08 GuShH which is how it worked its way out
13:08 rue_bed is it 60*?
13:08 e_bed is using * for degrees la
13:08 GuShH could be 55, I didn't bother to measure I went by eye
13:08 GuShH they had a plastic (bakelite?) knob on the end
13:08 GuShH which I seem to have... misplaced.
13:09 rue_bed mmm bakealite
13:09 rue_bed was it all chipped and faded?
13:09 GuShH grayish looking
13:09 GuShH I removed it and I think it got lost
13:09 rue_bed yea, sunlight
13:09 GuShH will have to check that thread again...
13:10 rue_bed yea, see if it might be wootworth
13:10 GuShH I got sick of threads yesterday, dressed a lot of tapped holes from the cross-slide (they were full of gunk) that took some time
13:10 GuShH used a plug tap
13:11 GuShH I should build a parts cleaner
13:11 rue_bed mmmmm
13:11 GuShH but what type of pump should I use? it has to handle solvents...
13:11 rue_bed a metal one!
13:11 GuShH just throw the parts in there let the solvent recirculate... with a filter, gets most things clean and nice
13:12 GuShH I would even try using gasoline, outside
13:12 rue_bed find an old engine oil pump
13:12 GuShH yeah but pumps these days... lots of plastic
13:12 GuShH also something about solvents and electricity that makes me think twice about it
13:12 rue_bed use a sealed induction motor
13:12 GuShH I have a solvent spray thingy for the compressor, but they are nasty to use
13:12 GuShH the solvent goes airborne and everywhere.
13:14 GuShH here's the slide before cleaning it http://imgur.com/StWqmO5
13:14 GuShH they had it slightly modified...
13:14 GuShH took all the crap out, left it back to stock
13:15 rue_bed ...what is the spring for?
13:15 GuShH it was converted for a pneumatic cylinder with a lever mechanism, hence the return spring and such.
13:15 GuShH they had it mounted on top of a lathe headstock for parting!
13:16 rue_bed oh :/ did they ditch the leadscrew?
13:16 GuShH this small turret lathe had no leadscrew, but a tiny rack and pinion for the X movement
13:16 GuShH the Y movement is always hand operated on this type of lathe
13:16 GuShH you go by feel
13:16 rue_bed oh
13:17 GuShH just a long lever
13:17 GuShH it relies on rigidity not to mess the work
13:17 GuShH wondered if I could mount it on the china lathe for fun, but this thing is too big
13:18 GuShH so I need to make the mounting bracket thingies for the bottom portion
13:18 GuShH some hot rolled flat stock should be fine
13:18 GuShH basically two small plates that clamp the whole slide down
13:19 GuShH I've no idea where the rack was mounted, I do have a small rack and pinion I could use but they are most certainly not from that machine
13:19 GuShH the idea was that you could slide it back and forth with depth stops for certain operations
13:19 GuShH so it wasn't just back and forth
18:33 Tom_itx rue_more, you gone thru a roll of plastic yet?
18:39 rue_more no
18:40 rue_more about 1/2 the black and about 1/3 of the green has been used up
18:40 rue_more no heated bed on yet, so not used up any of the abs
18:41 Tom_itx you got the green to work?
18:41 Tom_itx did you try any more of the connectors?
18:51 rue_more I didn't get the other connectors, there have been too many things goingon and I missed the links
18:51 rue_more on saturday its almost a nonstop steam of people here
18:51 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reprap/
18:52 rue_more "There's some kinda fish on your head.." "And you got a problem with that?"
18:52 Tom_itx that is your little reprap area
18:52 rue_more :) I'm always lsot
18:52 Tom_itx _should_ be a jpg with each stl
18:54 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reprap/Servo_clip_rnd.jpg
18:55 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/reprap/Servo_clip.jpg
18:55 Tom_itx little more beef on the end of that one
18:55 Tom_itx we need to check that one for snap fit
