00:16 Casper ... man the dewalt beat it up pretty badly....
00:21 Jak_o_Shadows I get that battery tools are handy, but batteries.
00:34 Casper DagoRed: :D starting to be good
00:35 Casper found out that the ideal is slightly in angle, blowing toward the rod, at about 3/4" from the tip of the torch
00:35 Casper this weld look VERY nice
00:41 Casper yup I found how to braze!
00:42 Casper torch about 15° from vertical toward the rod
00:49 rue_shop3 I love how the reprap always comes up with new ways to break
00:49 rue_shop3 the belt came off the Y because one of the screws that held the motor on had worked loose
00:50 rue_shop3 Casper, brazing can come out really well
00:50 Casper rue_shop3: when you know how to do it
00:50 Casper but I'm pushing a bit the limit of what my equipment can do...
00:50 Casper 3/4"x1/8 steel...
00:51 Casper next step will be fun: bend one at 45 degree on the wide side!
00:51 Casper then bend another one on the thin side then weld them together in T
00:52 Casper then somehow at the end fork the "vertical" bar in 2 to make a V shaped...
00:52 Casper and weld another V shaped flat between the 2....
00:53 GuShH and this is for what?
00:54 Casper to make a support for something I'm making
00:54 GuShH secretive!
00:54 GuShH I too can play that game
00:54 ShH fr
00:54 Casper a softlight box for photography
00:55 Casper https://www.flickr.com/photos/93694432@N04/15794261947/in/set-72157649663807742 <=== that, plus the box that go on top... well, that go on the rear... so well, yeah...
00:55 Casper blinding!
00:57 Casper now... I need to wet the wood that smoked... just to be on the safe side before bed...
00:59 rue_shop3 oh and!
00:59 rue_shop3 this time the belt tensioning spring caught on the feeder motor!
01:00 rue_shop3 haha
01:00 rue_shop3 trying to load a UPS with CFL, hahaha
01:04 Casper how do you like my blinder? :D
01:05 Casper 9x 100W equivalent, daylight 5000k :D
01:05 Casper I wanted 5500k, but couln't find...
01:05 Casper it was 5000 then 6500
01:06 RifRaf grow cupboard?
01:09 Casper me? just plain photography
01:10 RifRaf just had to throw it in there
01:10 RifRaf what camera you have?
01:11 Casper https://www.flickr.com/photos/93694432@N04/15954223956/in/set-72157649663807742/ <== back of the "back" :D
01:11 Casper canon T4i
01:12 RifRaf cool, got me daughter one of them a while back, nice camera
01:12 Casper 18-135 is f/3.5-4.5, 70-200 f/2.8L IS II, 10-22 f/3.5-4.5, x2 extender II, speedlite 430ex
06:01 bezoka hello
06:03 Jak_o_Shadows hi
09:33 armyofevilrobots rue_shop3: SOrry for slow response. We'll chat on the filastruder later. I bet that between my CNCs and your lathe we can get a tapered augur going.
16:05 arko oh dear is this channel all about arduinos and their integration with robots?
16:21 ace4016 no
16:21 ace4016 it's about robotics in general, which is a pretty general topic
16:43 Tom_itx #arduino is about arduino
16:48 arko gotcha
16:49 arko http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/images/technology/20141209/tech20141209.jpg
16:50 ace4016 i heard you like joints, so i put joints on your joints so you can join while you join
20:29 orlock http://www.news.com.au/world/photographer-left-bleeding-after-restaurant-mistletoe-drone-rams-into-her-face-at-tgi-fridays/story-fndir2ev-1227150593746
20:33 ace4016 lol
20:43 arko haha
20:45 GuShH rue_more: even this ancient thing would stop the power feed on it's own https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvubZF2BV1w
20:45 GuShH how lame is that for all the china crap.
20:46 GuShH anyway, I found the hexagonal shaped bed rather interesting
20:46 GuShH and the reduction for the carriage feed was brilliant
20:47 Tom_itx is that how you power all your tools?
20:49 Jak_o_Shadows How many of those would've been converted to electric I wonder
20:49 GuShH Tom_itx: yo momma
20:49 GuShH Jak_o_Shadows: most
20:49 GuShH but first, steam or similar
20:49 GuShH because before electric, you had steam power plants
20:49 Tom_itx overhead drive
20:50 GuShH one main distribution shaft
20:50 Tom_itx like i said ^^
20:50 GuShH also water driven
20:50 GuShH not as common
20:50 Jak_o_Shadows I recently (months) got the last of the parts I needed to make an old treadle sewing machine back to treadle
20:51 GuShH "why"
20:51 m_itx looks a GuShH and has similar thou
20:52 GuShH look a specialty "lathe" for idiots https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJsJeHA3PDc
20:53 GuShH again, why.
20:53 GuShH plus, that's the outside not the inside. what did I miss?
21:36 marvimias How does digital synchronization work?
22:19 rue_more there is a clock signal
22:20 rue_more it changes state when everyone is supposed to be in the right high or low situation
22:26 rue_more armyofevilrobots,
22:27 rue_more http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/reprap/p1060921.jpg

22:28 rue_more http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/reprap/p1040478.jpg
22:28 rue_more http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/reprap/main.html <-- bottom images
22:28 rue_more I did add high temp sealant at the bottom
22:29 armyofevilrobots Looking...
22:30 armyofevilrobots Nice bootstrapping job!
22:31 armyofevilrobots ack! Power resistor heater! Want me to order you a cartridge heater? I am putting in an aliexpress order tonight.
22:33 armyofevilrobots Aha, so the quartz is jammed against the bolt there at the bottom. That's still a pretty long heated zone above the heater block though.
23:03 rue_shop3 I cahnged it to a cartridge, the resistor died
23:03 rue_shop3 I bought both wattages, I need to work out what I used, I think I want more heat
23:03 rue_shop3 tho its not insulated properly cause I keep changing the tip
23:04 rue_shop3 I just worked out how to find the middle of the coil for the bed, I can put a current thru it and go by resistance
23:30 armyofevilrobots wicked.
23:30 armyofevilrobots https://www.dropbox.com/s/pfhmmlsv9exiezt/2014-12-09%2021.08.29.jpg?dl=0
23:33 rue_shop3 its not a wire guage issue, its a voltage drop across the power supply leads issue, the leads have 2 ohms, the element is 2 ohms
23:33 rue_shop3 looking great
23:34 rue_shop3 root@blackie2:/tmp# ohm -v 12 -r 2
23:34 rue_shop3 Wattage is: 72.000000
23:34 rue_shop3 Current is: 6.000000
23:34 rue_shop3 Voltage is: 12.000000
23:34 rue_shop3 Resistance is : 2.000000
23:34 rue_shop3 is 72W likley enough
23:34 rue_shop3 ?
23:39 rue_shop3 maybe 144W isnt' tooo much
23:39 rue_shop3 I'll look at it that way
23:40 rue_shop3 hmm 250W supply...
23:40 rue_shop3 144W on the bed
23:40 rue_shop3 ...
23:42 armyofevilrobots 144W would be nice. My 100 or so watter takes forever to get up to temp.
23:43 rue_shop3 armyofevilrobots, you know, you ought be using both cnc and printed parts in your new printer
23:43 rue_shop3 armyofevilrobots, k, I'm getting close to the limit of the power supply
23:43 rue_shop3 I have to re-check what head wattage I have, I'm re-reading my notes
23:44 rue_shop3 says here not more than 20W
23:48 armyofevilrobots rue_shop3, I do; my printer is a machine casing (on the router), and the new one is going to have CNC machined side panels, and the powder bed is going to be MDF
23:57 rue_shop3 aha! cool
