00:05 rue_bed gonna make a big one, then work it down smaller
00:06 rue_bed 0.8mm, get it working with that
00:10 RifRaf ok
03:49 Tom_itx rue_bed, same outlet on a power strip
08:42 rue_bed are the outlets on the power bar tight or loose
12:37 Tom_itx they're tight
19:45 rue_more cat walked on my keyboard, had to finish buying things from aliexpress in spanish...
19:45 Tom_itx picked up some fuses today
19:46 Tom_itx what size you think the 5v should have?
19:46 Tom_itx 2.5A?
19:46 rue_more I still think you lost a neutral connection somewhere
19:46 rue_more less
19:46 rue_more put a 1/2A on the input to the dc-dc
19:46 rue_more thats 12W
19:46 Tom_itx really?
19:46 rue_more your 5V eat mor than 12W?
19:46 Tom_itx i dunno
19:47 Tom_itx probably not
19:47 Tom_itx it runs all the electronics
19:47 rue_more a regulator on the primary side means its not throwing out the 5V in voltage drop
19:47 Tom_itx smps
19:47 rue_more yea
19:56 Tom_itx how do you suggest troubleshooting your theory?
20:59 rue_shop2 ohm the ground and neutral between the two devices
20:59 rue_shop2 more than 1 ohm fails
21:00 rue_shop2 then again, if it was a failure in the pc power supply, hard to catch that
22:11 rue_more I made a 1mm tip for the reprap
22:11 rue_more it should have less problems with that
22:19 orlock http://www.aurarum.com.au/3d-printers/147-prusa-i3-3d-printer-kit.html
22:20 rue_more did you get that?
22:21 orlock rue_more: no, but tempted
22:21 orlock they only added it to their stock list recently
22:21 orlock i can sell my DSo, pay off a chunk of the credit card, and buy that
22:21 rue_more for an extra $500 you can get it assembled ya know
22:22 rue_more it dosn't come with any filament...
22:23 rue_more thats about $40 or $50
22:25 Red_Onyx a 3d printer costs $1090. Wait 10 years, and it costs around $300
22:28 rue_more http://www.ebay.ca/itm/50x2way-2Pin-Screw-Terminal-Block-Connector-5mm-Pitch-Panel-PCB-Mount-K2301-/390733924938
22:28 rue_more I cant find those in yellow
22:39 Tom_itx rue_more i wonder if the SSR for the spindle motor could have let go...
22:39 Tom_itx i'll check that too once i get back to it
22:39 Tom_itx i had a spare but lost it somewhere
22:40 rue_more could that bring up the ground?
22:40 rue_more hot short to ground?
22:40 Tom_itx i don't know
22:40 Tom_itx it _was_ working fine for a couple days after i put the motor back on
22:40 Tom_itx i had no concern with it
22:41 Tom_itx went to add the encoder to the spindle as i was putting things back together
22:41 Tom_itx is when it all started going south
22:41 Tom_itx hadn't hooked any of that up yet
22:42 Tom_itx just the physical mount etc
23:05 rue_more the computer was on, do you know if you moved any of the power cords?
23:07 Loshki Red_Onyx: more like 2 or 3 years I'd say. Things move faster now. And once a 3d printer can print it's own parts, it may snowball and get really cheap.
23:08 rue_more uh
23:08 rue_more they can
23:08 rue_more make a printer and sell a parts kit for $50
23:09 rue_more which is little more than what the plastic costs to make it
23:10 Loshki rue_more: $50 for a printer parts kit. SOLD!
23:11 rue_more the printed parts, yea
23:11 rue_more go on ebay, there are lots of kits for $50
23:11 Loshki rue_more: and the non-printed parts?
23:11 rue_more they are about another $250
23:11 rue_more plastic is another $50-100
23:13 rue_more assembly is about another $500
23:13 rue_more finished, assembeld printer: $1000
23:16 Loshki rue_more: pretty much what Red_Onyx said, then. The only question now is how quickly prices will come down.
23:16 rue_more they are down
23:17 rue_more there is no expensive part
23:17 rue_more but all added up, it is expensive
23:17 rue_more I'm doing mine just about as cheap as can be done, and I'm about $340
23:17 rue_more and its take n 2 years
23:18 rue_more I almost have it printing
23:18 rue_more good quality, low price, have it now. <--- you only get 2 of the 3
23:43 rue_more hahah china cant keep arduino knockoffs on the shelvs
