00:48 Hyratel I've got a jigsaw carrying case that I cut the internal dividers out of, it's no pelican case, but it's quite tough. I found that it'll fit a 17" laptop LCD just in between the width. I've been thinking to build a Carryable Computer with it, but I lack the funding, so it's a paper-project for now.
00:50 lock sw
00:50 orlock that thing was going to pay off our credit card debt
00:50 orlock waited too long - my own fault
01:00 rue_bed I just realized that I can work out an R C value for the thermal cycle of the house
01:00 rue_bed hmm
01:01 rue_bed I wonder if the values would have any meaning
01:08 rue_bed hahah, there is a script running on a machine somewere thats regulating the house heat
01:08 rue_bed I dont know where its running
01:11 rue_bed found it
01:11 rue_bed automation server
04:49 Jak_o_Shadows rue_house what was your website?
04:56 deshipu https://static.hackaday.io/images/971751415961100347.jpg <-- the plugs already take up more space than the electronics
09:55 rue_house http://ruemohr.org no www
09:55 rue_house I slept thru my alarm this morning
09:55 rue_house I just am late
09:56 rue_house -2c out
20:02 rue_house how come it feels like I do 90% of the talking in this channel
20:02 Tom_shop because i do the other 20%
20:02 rue_house talk to me more, then you will only be 45%
20:02 rue_house hah
20:02 rue_house him?
20:02 rue_house me?
20:02 rue_house you
20:02 rue_house which you?
20:02 rue_house you you
20:02 rue_house me you?
20:02 rue_house yes
20:03 rue_house what about him
20:03 rue_house me?
20:03 rue_house no him
20:03 Tom_shop no, the other me
20:03 rue_house what you working on tom?
20:03 rue_house how was your day tom?
20:03 Tom_shop calibrating the control for the new dc motor
20:03 rue_house good show!
20:03 rue_house is it far off?
20:05 Tom_shop no
20:05 Tom_shop they just suggest you move some pots from one brand motor to the other
20:05 Tom_shop they were out of stock on the one i had
20:06 Tom_shop i can't really tell any difference in the settings
20:06 Tom_shop probably would take a scope to see it
20:07 ace4016 hrm, i need calipers i think...
20:08 rue_house hmm cup of juice on desk is frozen, maybe I should have left it in the fridge?
20:08 rue_house :) jk
20:09 RifRaf 40C here today, and warmer out west
20:09 rue_house trade ya
20:10 ace4016 lol
20:13 rue_house hahah, I looked at the ebay webpage I had up and got excited to buy soemthing I saw on the list
20:13 rue_house but its my purchased items list
20:14 RifRaf http://i.imgur.com/U1qtMz6.jpg first print in months
20:14 Tom_shop i wonder if i should leave the plastic belt guard off
20:15 ace4016 RifRaf, have a video of it moving?
20:15 RifRaf the white is the old, have been able to downsize to normal human eye size
20:15 rue_house foxy
20:17 RifRaf http://imgur.com/4ZvIO7Y
20:18 RifRaf ace4016, not yet, still tweeking the print, and then need to control with rpi, using a pi cam in each eye, filed down
20:18 rue_house how come you didn't drive them both with link wires?
20:20 RifRaf dunno yet, first time i ever print 2 together
20:22 ace4016 cool
20:24 Hyratel "de-grossing of computer mouse complete. the wheel is grippier and detents more firmly
20:28 rue_house mine gets cat hair in it and when you click it scrolls up or down a few pulses first
20:28 rue_house it makes linux-middle-click-paste a pain
20:29 rue_house hmm boiler collector is pushing 16c delta, thats brutal
20:32 rue_house so prolly about 336kbtu/hr
20:33 rue_house tom, can you do a text search on the logs?
20:44 Tom_itx yes
20:44 Tom_itx that takes care of that for now
20:45 Tom_itx new belt is a nice welcome
20:45 Tom_itx i need a search parameter though
20:45 rue_house can you find me saying "gpm" I'm looking for the record of me saying what gpm the pumps run at
20:45 Tom_itx this channel?
20:45 rue_house I think so
20:46 Tom_itx <rue_house> (btu/hr) = flow(gpm) * (((Tout(c)*(9/5)+32) - ((Tin(c)*9/5)+32)) * 500
20:47 rue_house no, might be close tho
20:47 Tom_itx <rue_house> typical temp rise is 10c
20:47 Tom_itx <rue_house> at 3.5gpm
20:47 Tom_itx <rue_house> 50F
20:47 Tom_itx <rue_house> 87500 btu/hr
20:47 Tom_itx <rue_house> flow(gpm) * (temp out(f) - temp in(f)) * 500
20:47 Tom_itx 3.5
20:47 rue_house I have two pumps, I'm sure I said what the gpm of each was
20:48 rue_house whats the log?
20:48 Tom_itx my local one :D
20:48 rue_house heh
20:48 Tom_itx i may be able to find it if you give me a grep search line
20:48 rue_house temp rise would imply its the boiler
20:49 rue_house grep -i gpm * |grep -i rue
20:49 Tom_itx <rue_shop3> boiler pump is about 3.8gpm
20:49 Tom_itx <rue_shop3> the house pump is 2.82/3.24/3.4gpm in low/med/high
20:49 Tom_itx <rue_shop3> so if I'v seen the boiler taking on 20c, how many btu is that?
20:49 Tom_itx <rue_shop3> rise of 20c at 3.8gpm
20:49 Tom_itx is that it?
20:49 rue_house yes!
20:49 Tom_itx my logs don't date stamp
20:49 Tom_itx the ones online do
20:50 Tom_itx do you still need the log?
20:52 rue_house na
20:53 rue_house just the numbers, 58kbtu/hr was the peak by those numbers
20:54 Tom_itx it doesn't like #robotics as a directory name
20:54 Tom_itx can't cd /
20:54 Tom_itx to it
20:54 rue_house you can you just ahve to back slash it
20:55 rue_house cd /\#robotics
20:55 Tom_itx got it
20:55 rue_house 40kbtu/hr being transfered into the house
20:56 rue_house the gas furnace rating is 62kbtu/hr
20:58 Tom_itx 2013-09-28.html
20:58 rue_house zlog
20:58 rue_house http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~tom-itx/irc/logs/%23robotics/2013-09-28.html
20:59 Tom_itx [22:41:16] <rue_shop3> boiler pump is about 3.8gpm
20:59 Tom_itx [22:41:40] <rue_shop3> the house pump is 2.82/3.24/3.4gpm in low/med/high
21:04 rue_house ugh, I dont feel well
21:04 rue_house I slept in this morning, thru my alarm, this means I'm ill
21:05 Tom_itx yeah i noticed
21:09 Tom_itx it's funny how a wee tiny bit of progress makes me feel better
21:24 orlock Tom_itx: I know exactly what you mean
21:25 orlock think i fixed my DSO
21:25 orlock without completely stripping it down
21:25 Tom_itx last week i was trying to replace bearings in a motor and ended up pulling all the commutator wires off it
21:26 orlock wasnt ram - claering CMOS got it booting, but no LCD display (which is a PCI card)
21:26 Tom_itx i did get them all soldered back and it works
21:26 orlock i managed to unbolt the PCI card enough to "jiggle" it in the slot a few mm
21:26 Tom_itx but wasn't able to change the bearings
21:26 orlock power up.. and we have a display on the LCD, yay!
21:26 Tom_itx cool
21:26 orlock Tom_itx: so you managed to get it back to the state it was in before you started fiddling?
21:27 Tom_itx yeah
21:27 orlock also, i now have a webcam with motion running pointing at a hole
21:27 Tom_itx the bearings are noisy though
21:27 orlock didnt catch the inhabitants though
21:27 Tom_itx i got another motor
21:27 Tom_itx so now i have a worn spare
21:27 Tom_itx i recall that
21:27 Tom_itx no spiders?
21:27 orlock yeah, but not going in our out of hole
21:28 orlock i last was making mpegs out of jpegs 14 years ago
21:28 orlock and its STILL an arse-about
21:29 orlock Tom_itx: so bearings couldent be pressed out?
21:29 orlock or however its done
21:30 orlock i was hoping jiggling the card would work - in the shed it gets some decent temprature cycles
21:30 orlock so i thought that might have caused a faulty conenction in the PCI socket
22:05 Tom_itx no, it wasn't made to come apart
22:05 Tom_itx the front bearing had a cover plate behind it that was crimped in place
22:06 Tom_itx i generally take pics of all my stuff but didn't on this
22:07 Tom_itx oh and the brushes were completely interna
22:07 Tom_itx l
22:07 Tom_itx so pulling the motor apart screwed one of them up a bit
22:07 Tom_itx i managed to salvage it
23:26 rue_house so, next i have to read from the pcf8574
23:27 rue_house but I'd liek to know why the other code didn't work
