01:46 rue_shop2 if I dont buy it on ebay, in 30 days I'll remember to go to the store to get it and wish I had just bought it from ebay today
01:46 rue_shop2 remember *again*
01:59 rue_shop2 you know an led is sensitive when: with the anode hooked to 5V of your project, hold a wire to the cathode, without touching anything else, you can see a slight glow to the led
02:00 rue_shop2 touching the ground line of the project with my other hand makes it brighter
02:33 Hyratel wow
02:33 Hyratel what kind of LED?
02:37 rue_house a blue one
02:38 rue_house in a 5mm shell with a red and green one
02:43 Hyratel wow
02:44 Hyratel that's really dang sensitive
03:07 rue_house I'm not making progress on this code verry quickly, but if I stay on it infinitly, I can finish it
03:07 rue_house I think
09:20 rue_bed oops, didn't expect the temp to drop to freezing last night
09:20 rue_bed thought that would be a day or two out
09:57 mrdata we've been having frost since a week ago (toronto)
11:47 SquirrelCZECH hi folks
11:48 SquirrelCZECH question
11:48 SquirrelCZECH I would like to use inductive sensor probe
11:48 SquirrelCZECH to measure distance from reprap's heated bed
11:48 SquirrelCZECH thing is, my bed consists of "heated bed PCB" - normal PCB
11:48 SquirrelCZECH and carbon 3mm thick plate on top of it
11:49 SquirrelCZECH I suppose the probe should work nice with the carbon platE?
11:49 Tom_itx not sure about that
11:49 Tom_itx or using it as a distance sensor
11:50 SquirrelCZECH yeah
11:50 SquirrelCZECH I want to measure distance :D
11:50 Tom_itx inductance sensors rely on movement and i'm not sure you'd have enough movement
11:50 SquirrelCZECH well, I've got people that told me that it works nice with PCB + Glass
11:50 SquirrelCZECH but... people told me ...
11:51 SquirrelCZECH Tom_itx: thanks for tip, I suppose I will be able to create movement :)
11:52 Tom_itx untested information here
11:53 Tom_itx you might be better off with an IR sensor of some sort
12:01 Tom_itx SquirrelCZECH don't you calibrate the axis when you start?
12:01 Tom_itx why would you need to measure it again with a sensor?
12:02 SquirrelCZECH ehmm
12:02 uirrelCZECH wants to measurre distance from nozzle to
12:02 SquirrelCZECH on several points on bad
12:02 SquirrelCZECH SW can adjust than commands to ... be "same" distane from bed surface everywhere?
12:02 SquirrelCZECH *several points on bed
12:05 Tom_itx just make the bed parallel to the xy axis and you don't have to worry about it
12:05 SquirrelCZECH easier to said than to do actually
12:05 SquirrelCZECH :)
12:05 SquirrelCZECH but yeah, I should be able to do that
12:05 Tom_itx oh i'm sure
12:06 Tom_itx once and done though
12:06 SquirrelCZECH but I want to try the autocalibration
12:06 SquirrelCZECH (just for fun)
12:06 SquirrelCZECH and then use it to make it proper without it
12:06 Tom_itx i won't tell what i did for fun
12:06 SquirrelCZECH I mean, if I run the autocalibration and it tells me that it adjusted the ... parameters by 0
12:06 SquirrelCZECH -> calibrated :)
12:06 SquirrelCZECH more or less maybe
12:06 SquirrelCZECH :D
12:07 SquirrelCZECH problem is that I tend to ... "dis-calibrate" my reprap a lot
12:07 SquirrelCZECH especially X axis... :)
12:07 Tom_itx trying to change bearings on a rotor i managed to pull the wires off the commutator
12:07 Tom_itx and then had to figure out where they all went
12:08 SquirrelCZECH If I woudln't try to modify and upgrade the machine it woudln't bother me
12:08 SquirrelCZECH but...
12:10 Tom_itx http://www.electronicproducts.com/Lighting/Light_Emitting_Diodes/Scientists_create_the_world_s_first_fully_functional_3D_printed_LED.aspx
12:10 Tom_itx there's something for you
12:10 Tom_itx since you're in to 3d printing...
12:13 SquirrelCZECH wow
12:13 uirrelCZECH wants to do it on reprap
14:05 mustaga oh hi
14:08 mustaga im running into lol alpha 1 handaxis singularity lol how to handle this lol need ore stuff
14:09 mustaga huh
16:00 rue_house Tom_itx, didn't work, I'm suspicious
16:01 rue_house I'm sure I could bit-bang this thing and it'd work
16:03 rue_house http://paste.debian.net/131496/
16:03 rue_house tom, didn't work, I'm supposed to be using PC0 and PC1 of the m32 right?
16:32 Tom_itx i dunno for sure
17:53 e_shop2 bought a tiger torch, seeing if it will do aluminum
18:35 rue_shop2 it worked
18:35 rue_shop2 tho AGAIN I dont know if there was enough aluminum, and I dont think I poured it in fast enough
19:08 rue_shop2 damn, there wasn't enough aluininim in the pour
19:16 rue_shop2 now I'm gonnahave to work out how to melt that thing down again
20:00 Tom_itx what are you making?
20:01 Tom_itx besides a molten mess
20:02 LeelooMinai Seems like Terminator skeleton:p
20:12 rue_house I need to make more casting sand, and I been having a problem finging good stuff to stick in the ball mill to use to grind the kitty litter to make the casting sand, but it just occured to me that I could cast some aluminum balls to use in the mill to make the casting sand
20:12 rue_house funny how this stuff feeds itself
20:24 Tom_itx kitty litter makes good casting sand?
20:43 rue_house its the binder
20:43 rue_house otherwise its just sand and water
20:44 rue_shop2 it has to be ground to flour tho
20:44 rue_shop2 so the only thing on todays list I dind't do was to etch the current sensor board
20:56 Hyratel rue_shop2, does it have to be the cheapass shit?
20:59 rue_house er, needs to say contains bentonite clay
21:27 rue_house style="display: none;"
22:12 anonnumberanon He has the best proposal presentation today Loshki .
22:12 anonnumberanon *We had the best proposal presentation today Loshki .
22:13 Loshki anonnumberanon: very cool indeed!!
22:14 anonnumberanon Some of the guys are catching the bug.
22:16 Loshki anonnumberanon: I hope to see the video on youtube when you're done.
22:33 anonnumberanon Loshki, it's the "doing" part that will be hard now. Although the team is a lot more motivated.
22:34 Loshki anonnumberanon: I wish I had toys like that to play with when I was younger. Also, if you have a Neato left over, take it home and make it do the vacuuming!
22:34 anonnumberanon now I'm wondering if Roomba has a good sensor, apparently some guy at Engineering has one.
22:35 anonnumberanon I'll go talk to him tomorrow.
22:35 anonnumberanon But I don't think the same hacking hardware community exists around it, does it?
22:49 Loshki anonnumberanon: the roomba doesn't work like the neato. Instead it has no lidar, most models are "blind" and use their bumper and simple ir emitters/detectors to navigate, in essentially a random-like pattern, relying on much longer runtimes & some heuristics to ensure coverage. I think the newer ones have an ultrasonic sensor so they don't slam so hard into furniture :-). From a hacker's point of view, less interesting than a Neato (IMHO), but iRob
22:49 Loshki ot, the manufacturer, initially encouraged hacking (see the "iRobot create"), so there are hackers for that too, including at least one ballet (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFadTwIgM2s&channel=yhancik)
23:02 anonnumberanon I see.
23:02 anonnumberanon Well I'm going to bed I have to make a switch with VHDL tomorrow all day.
