02:07 rue_shop2 latley
02:12 rue_house where is the code for that toaster oven
02:12 rue_house lets see if I can break it and say it dosn't work properly
02:13 rue_shop2 aha
02:13 rue_shop2 I dont like the first one cause all the wire is steel and its spot welded togethor
02:13 rue_shop2 I dont like the second one cause its mostly plastic
02:14 rue_shop2 and the 3rd one has the digital controller in it I cant reprogram
02:14 rue_shop2 but its metal, clean, and I can reuse the io board
02:14 rue_shop2 hmmmmmmm
02:14 rue_shop2 I went to lots of work to rebuild the second one
02:19 rue_shop2 Tom_shop, cant find the toaster oven firmware, is it posted?
03:16 deshipu rue_house: no, you didn't show me
03:44 rue_bed-aok I didn't show you what?>
03:48 deshipu 02:41 < rue_house> deshipu, yea that beats mine
03:48 deshipu 02:41 < rue_house> deshipu, did I show you how I did it?
03:53 rue_bed-aok oh right
03:53 rue_bed-aok hold on
03:53 rue_bed-aok http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/robots/arm8/p1060720.jpg
03:54 rue_bed-aok my code is good to over 10 bits, but its only 8 port
03:57 rue_bed-aok http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/robots/arm8/slide.htm
04:00 deshipu doesn't soldering the pins on the side like that make it easy to rip the copper track off the printed board?
04:00 rue_bed-aok yup, its not a super strong way of doing it
04:01 rue_bed-aok I like yours better
04:01 deshipu it's my firth attempt
04:01 deshipu fifth
04:01 deshipu building robots gets kinda addicting
04:03 rue_bed-aok watch the slideshow, you may get ideas
11:45 rue_shop3 wow, I have to remmeber to turn off joint and quit messages
14:38 Veverak hi folks
14:38 Veverak I want to try stepper driver with arduinou
14:39 Veverak what do you suggest as base for steps timing?
14:39 Hyratel1 cool! do you have the materials on hand?
14:39 Veverak 1000 microseconds ? beffer voltage change on stepper pin?
14:39 Veverak *beffor
14:39 verak need something
14:41 Hyratel1 I'm not sure what you're asking
14:41 Veverak timing for step pulse for stepper driver
14:42 Hyratel1 that depends on what you're doing with it
14:42 Hyratel1 effective RPM is dependent on the step timing
14:43 Hyratel1 RPM = steps per minute / steps per rotation
14:43 Veverak just ot test it
14:44 Veverak hmm
14:44 Veverak it's reprap Z axis
14:44 Veverak maybe I can calculate it into one rotation per 10s
14:45 Hyratel1 ok, you need to know the # steps of the motor
14:46 deshipu Veverak: I honestly doubt arduino can provide enough current for the reprap steppers without frying
14:46 Veverak deshipu: did I said there is no stepper driver?
14:46 Veverak :)
14:46 deshipu Veverak: ah, sorry then
14:49 verak got external driver for his re
14:49 Veverak (it got more power)
14:49 Veverak and want to test it on something
14:49 Veverak and maybe I don't want to test it on reprap electronics yet :D
15:03 wolfmanjm Veverak: you can issue step pulses at any frequency you want upto the maximum the stepper can handle (generally 10revs/sec) it also depends on the microstepping you have set on the driver
15:04 wolfmanjm default for most steppers is 200steps/rev times the microstepping selected
15:04 wolfmanjm is the driver A4988?
15:06 Veverak nope
15:07 Veverak http://www.ebay.ca/itm/CNC-Router-1-Axis-Controller-Stepper-Motor-Drivers-TB6560-3A-driver-board-TE-/111290455455?ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:US:3160
15:08 Veverak aaaand my magic doesn't work
15:08 rue_shop2 http://www.amazon.com/Neiko-5-Piece-E-Clip-Remover-Installer/dp/B000W94UEQ
15:08 rue_shop2 huh
15:08 rue_shop2 they make tools for everything these days
15:09 Veverak it blinks (driver) so I suppose it gets steps
15:09 Veverak but no actual motor notion
15:09 Veverak and there are 0V on coils :/
15:09 rue_shop2 it the rotor locked?
15:09 rue_shop2 or will it spin freely?
15:09 rue_shop2 can you take a picture of your setup for us?
15:09 Veverak sure, just give me a sec
15:15 Veverak http://cloud.veverak.org/public.php?service=gallery&t=909e80b64152e664a006231269d58842
15:15 Veverak rue_shop2: ^^
15:15 Veverak and motor is free
15:17 rue_house hmm
15:17 Veverak and here are more details http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-Axis-Controller-Stepper-Motor-Drivers-TB6560-3A-Driver-Board-CNC-Router-Single-/200976756349?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ecb25ee7d
15:17 rue_house the motor shouldbn't be free if thigns are woring
15:18 rue_house ahh, two motors
15:18 rue_house in parallel
15:18 rue_house test with just one first
15:18 Veverak ok
15:18 rue_house you see, its current mode, if your putting them in parallel you should be using votlage mode motors, or have two drivers
15:18 rue_house hmm
15:19 rue_house it wont be the only issue tho
15:19 Veverak didn't changed a thing
15:19 Veverak rue_house: what? why
15:19 Veverak on reprap one driver, two motors are ok with paralle
15:19 Veverak *paralel
15:19 rue_house it'll just help to get them working
15:19 Veverak and as far as my knowledge go it should be ok :D
15:19 rue_house can you give me a link to your board?
15:19 Veverak yeah, I agree, just I think this setup is OK
15:20 Veverak you mean the reprap one?
15:20 rue_house Veverak, everyone does it, but its not right, lets get one motor working and you can adjust from there
15:20 rue_house that motor driver baord
15:20 Veverak rue_house: yeah, I agreee
15:20 rue_house I dont know what it is
15:20 Veverak http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1-Axis-Controller-Stepper-Motor-Drivers-TB6560-3A-Driver-Board-CNC-Router-Single-/200976756349?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ecb25ee7d
15:20 rue_house dude, did you 3d pring your own fan!?
15:21 Veverak nope, just cover
15:21 Veverak :D
15:21 rue_house ok, do you ahve a multimeter?
15:21 Veverak yeah
15:22 Veverak hmm
15:22 Veverak let me check one thin
15:22 rue_house what is the voltage between EN- and EN+
15:23 Veverak THAT BASTARD
15:23 Veverak solved
15:23 rue_house ok
15:23 Veverak rue_house: there was wrong voltage :D
15:23 Veverak it's other way I thought it would be
15:23 Veverak voltage = driver is stopped
15:23 Veverak no voltage = driver works
15:24 rue_house oooh
15:25 rue_house so its really a disable
15:25 Veverak yeah
15:25 Veverak bastards
15:25 Veverak anyway
15:26 Veverak weird noise from mottors when trying higher speed
15:26 rue_house its switching alias
15:26 Veverak ?
15:27 rue_house with switch the power on and off to the coils to control the current
15:27 rue_house with the coils going on and off cause your tuning them, interesting tones get created
15:27 Veverak I seee
15:27 Veverak ehm, but not sure what to think of it
15:27 rue_house its notmal
15:27 rue_house and I cant type
15:28 Veverak ok
15:28 Veverak thanks a lot!
15:28 e_hous
15:30 rue_house Tom_itx, wow, not much that that
15:30 rue_house to that
15:30 rue_house nice to see code thats not 90000 lines spread over 4 files
15:32 rue_house I'v decided I'm going to burn the contents of the house for heat this winter
15:33 rue_house I'm going to start with the phonebooks, and then move along to the dk catalogs
15:33 rue_house that should last me this year, next year I may come up with a new plan
15:40 Tom_itx ?
15:40 Tom_itx not much to what?
15:41 Tom_itx just enough
15:42 Tom_itx DK catalogs should keep you warm all winter
15:42 Tom_itx next winter you can burn the mouser ones
15:45 rue_shop2 oo good point
15:48 Veverak nope
15:48 Veverak that noise is too much
15:48 Veverak :/
15:49 rue_shop2 I wonder if its the stepping or the switching
15:49 rue_shop2 whats it like with both motors conencted
15:50 Veverak it's both motors
15:50 Veverak same with single when I tried it
15:50 Veverak gonna try different axis
15:54 Veverak nope, noisy as hell
15:57 Veverak hmm
15:57 Veverak Ive turned off any "decay"
15:57 Veverak maybe it can cause such a noise?
16:05 Veverak 25% decay got lower noise
16:05 Veverak but still it's too much
16:06 Veverak not tuu much, but more than before
17:24 Veverak nope
17:24 Veverak can't get rid of the noise :/
18:00 rue_shop2 steppers are noisy
18:03 Veverak it wasn't with the driver before :(
18:30 rue_shop2 ?
18:31 rue_shop2 hmm this old power supply is so big, I could make it into a scope, with a built in computer
18:35 Tom_itx progress on the toaster oven?
19:04 rue_shop2 no, the pulse oximiter did work for a few mins after I recapped it, but then quit, Its a power supply issue of some sort, my bpm is somewhere arount 62 and my %o2 is about 97 (between 94 holding my breath too long and 98 hyper ventilating)
19:04 rue_shop2 working on the robot arm, the new idea I had for gripping the cable is working good
19:04 rue_shop2 less having to file a 4-40 grub screw in half
19:24 Tom_itx i think you keep them in business with your grub screws
20:21 rue_shop2 and the oximeter is working again, I have no idea what this things problem is
20:21 rue_shop2 the power supply seems to keep dropping out
20:28 rue_shop2 the main power goes thru a few diodes, I think one is flakey
20:28 rue_shop2 almost the whole board was soaked in capacitor puke for gosh knows how long
20:30 rue_shop2 that stuff tends to get into parts and do bad things
20:52 rue_shop2 hmmm what can I use as a takeup for the middle of the drive cable
20:52 rue_shop2 not for tension, just takeup
20:58 rue_house if 100 is cent, whats 255
20:58 rue_house 1024 is a
20:58 rue_house kib
20:58 rue_house quarterkib?
21:00 rue_house http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kibibyte
21:00 rue_house maybe its just 256iB
21:00 rue_house no that still dosn't work
21:00 rue_house hmm
21:01 rue_house 1/256 of a rotation is a bingree
21:06 rue_house "dude, YOU MOSTLY CONSIST OF A PUDDLE ON THE FLOOR!, so let me get this right, to prove it was too hot for a human to drink, you drank it, and it melted right thru your whole steel frame?" "contrary to popular beleif most of my frame wasn't steel" "...."
21:08 rue_shop2 maybe i can make some kind of sliding lock
21:10 Tom_itx mmm
21:10 Tom_itx the phone box can call another one like it direct
21:10 Tom_itx no voip
21:11 rue_shop3 i have an idea!
21:12 rue_shop2 does it involve me dieing?
21:12 rue_shop3 not this time, no
21:12 rue_shop3 Tom_itx, cool
21:12 rue_shop3 Tom_itx, I'm gonna have enough robot arms for an assembly line soon
21:13 rue_shop3 arg, how does those strap buckes go
21:13 rue_shop3 I can never get this
21:15 Tom_itx you're good with phone systems right?
21:34 rue_shop2 ok, the tiger wire and bead thing disn't work as a cable drive, too much friction (I cant get it to move at all)
21:34 rue_shop2 Tom_itx, RTP is the router problem your having, telephony peopel call it "really? that port?" because people always forget to open it
21:34 rue_shop2 its udp, not tcp
21:35 Tom_itx no
21:35 Tom_itx no problems really
21:35 Tom_itx just wondered
21:35 Tom_itx about setup strings etc for the box
21:35 Tom_itx forwarding numbers etc
21:35 rue_shop2 ah
21:35 Tom_itx like mapping 911 calls
21:36 Tom_itx pretty sure i've got that figured out
21:36 rue_shop2 hmm, dial plan
21:36 Tom_itx no need
21:36 Tom_itx i've got the local access number
21:36 Tom_itx i'll test it with another number first :)
21:39 rue_shop2 maybe apolstry tube
21:47 rue_shop2 bah, I set this up wrong
21:47 rue_shop2 hmm, how do I get these angles right
21:52 rue_house hmmm
22:42 rue_shop2 theBear, whats a whatkee
22:42 rue_shop2 ?
22:42 rue_shop2 RifRaf, ?
22:57 Tom_itx ok that works now
22:57 Tom_itx this box is kinda cool
23:08 rue_shop2 sip phone?
23:08 rue_shop2 or analog to network 'adapter'
23:08 Tom_itx huh?
23:09 rue_shop2 what you playin with?
23:09 Tom_itx that OBi thing
23:09 rue_shop2 more details?
23:09 Jak_o_Shadows I should really look into SIP phones
23:09 Tom_itx i gave you a link
23:09 Jak_o_Shadows It's not a particularly big thing in australia unfortunatley
23:09 rue_shop3 well I missed it
23:10 Tom_itx obitalk.com
23:10 rue_shop3 Jak_o_Shadows, download an app, I'll set you up an account on my phone system
23:10 rue_shop3 oh its google
23:10 Tom_itx this one supports 4 providers
23:11 rue_shop3 maybe I should get a number from the provider and change it over to try it
23:12 rue_shop3 see how google has done
23:12 Tom_itx a friend talked me into trying it over another voip
23:12 Tom_itx the box lets you do alot of things though
23:15 rue_shop2 the question is, are you service providers good enough for it?
23:15 Jak_o_Shadows eh, it's more that I would call no one
23:15 Jak_o_Shadows because no-one uses it.
23:16 rue_shop2 too much jitter and packet drops and scrambles, and it might as well be a set of tin cans on a 6km string
23:16 rue_shop2 Jak_o_Shadows, they take over your normal phone account
23:16 rue_shop2 so it works just like a normal phones
23:16 Tom_itx he was talking about ways to eliminate a couple hops from the loop
23:16 rue_shop2 ?
23:17 Jak_o_Shadows yeah, but then you need to pay a provider for the phone usage
23:17 rue_shop3 no, you pay google a fraction of the money
23:17 Tom_itx it's free
23:17 Tom_itx you pay if you want to transfer a working number
23:17 rue_shop3 and they take over your number?
23:17 rue_shop3 yea
23:17 rue_shop3 thats what I meant
23:17 Tom_itx just like any of them
23:17 Jak_o_Shadows a fraction of the money I understand.
23:18 Tom_itx you can get a number from them free though
23:18 Tom_itx i got one just to test with
23:18 rue_shop3 yea, one that is really weird
23:18 Tom_itx from a local pool
23:18 rue_shop3 usually not quite
23:18 Tom_itx you can pick what you want
23:18 Tom_itx at least i could
23:18 rue_shop3 mostly
23:19 Tom_itx and if you had one you can dial the device directly
23:19 rue_shop3 ok, I'm out of steam on this arm for tonight
23:19 Tom_itx bypassing all of them
23:19 rue_shop3 yup
23:20 rue_shop3 man I just dont feellike working on anyting
23:20 rue_shop3 there are so many cool things to do
23:20 rue_shop3 I need to get this power supply going
23:20 Tom_itx i got further than i expected on this
23:21 Tom_itx gonna call it i think
23:21 rue_shop3 its 9:00, this is stupid
23:21 rue_shop3 I'm mentally into staying up till 2
23:21 Tom_itx i'm not
23:23 rue_house more tea! more tea!
23:40 rue_shop2 where did my tea go?
23:40 rue_shop3 want' me!
23:49 rue_shop2 I bet it was
23:50 rue_shop2 now I have to go get another tea
23:50 rue_shop2 its raining out ya know
