00:05 MrCurious did something to teach it home is 40' above the roof f the house
00:44 io___ anyone knows how to derive capacitor & motor rating/values in air conditioner/cooler used in home?
01:48 rue_house io___, easy, just read the sticker on the inside of the cover panel
01:49 rue_house failing that, read the sticker on the motor
07:39 robotustra funny robot
07:45 deshipu got my bluetooth module, my robot is now complete :)
07:49 robotustra show your robot
08:05 deshipu http://letsmakerobots.com/robot/project/%C2%B5kubik
08:08 robotustra ah, 4 legged robot?
08:09 deshipu yes, it has four legs
08:10 deshipu arduino only has 12 pins that I could use for servos, you see
08:10 robotustra so you control it through wifi?
08:10 deshipu bluetooth
08:10 robotustra has it any sensors?
08:10 deshipu an IR distance sensor in front
08:11 deshipu and since it can twist the legs to rotate its body in place, I can do a scan too
08:11 robotustra so it's not autonomous?
08:11 deshipu it could be, if I rewrote all the software in that funny arduino language
08:12 deshipu but for now 90% is python, and the arduino only receives servo positions and sends sensor data
08:12 robotustra what board do you use?
08:12 robotustra 32u4?
08:12 deshipu arduino pro micro
08:12 robotustra yeah it's atmega 32 u4
08:12 deshipu sorry, arduino pro mini
08:12 robotustra the same
08:12 robotustra chip
08:12 deshipu yeah
08:13 robotustra I use the same in my robo eyes
08:13 deshipu just for the eyes?
08:13 robotustra yes one per eye
08:13 deshipu why not one for both?
08:14 deshipu or however many there are
08:14 robotustra because the eye is complex
08:14 deshipu ah, like the IR compound eye?
08:16 robotustra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hld-6YdsHQY
08:17 robotustra it has 4 motors to control and SPI position sensor
08:17 robotustra and now I added a magnetic position sensor
08:18 robotustra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HABjn7qLSY
08:18 robotustra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExeVTvKDxZs
08:20 robotustra but I use "micro" because it has SPI pins
08:21 robotustra pro mini doesn't have SPI pins
08:24 deshipu yeah
08:24 deshipu why 4? wouldn't 2 servos be enough?
08:26 robotustra redundancy
08:26 robotustra servos too noisy
08:26 robotustra are*
08:26 robotustra it's simple DC motors
08:33 deshipu are you going to build the whole thing, or just the head?
08:34 robotustra I'm actually building whole thing
08:35 deshipu what does it have for locomotion?
08:35 robotustra I printed a neck, some part of torso
08:35 robotustra 2 legs, as usual
08:36 robotustra it will be full size adult robot
08:36 robotustra 150 cm height
08:36 deshipu a walking robot this size needs some powerful actuators?
08:37 robotustra not so powerful as ppl think
08:38 robotustra I plan the total power is 200W
08:39 deshipu have you done that before?
08:40 robotustra no
08:40 robotustra I don't do anything serious twice
08:41 robotustra this project could take up to 5000$ and 5 years of life
08:41 robotustra this is an estimation
08:45 deshipu what if you miscalculate at some point and it won't be able to stand?
08:51 robotustra it's nealy impossible to miscalculate
08:52 robotustra the problem is not in standing itself, but in main controller loop
08:52 robotustra it should refresh at least 25 times per second
08:52 robotustra to keep balance
09:04 robotustra and if I fail with legs - it's always there is an option to put robot on wheels
09:28 rue_mohr2 dont let th shape of the head fool you, he is really making an iguana :)
09:46 robotustra rue_mohr2: more closely - alien iguana
09:49 robotustra rue_mohr2: how is the arm #8?
09:51 rue_mohr2 good, I'm off to work, bye!
10:01 monopole .join #reprap
10:05 robotustra monopole: typo?
10:05 monopole yeah
10:05 robotustra what printer do you have?
10:06 monopole makergear
10:06 monopole i haven't used it a while though
10:07 robotustra looks very solid
10:07 robotustra aluminium plates?
10:07 monopole nah i had the earlier version which was made out of plywood...
10:09 robotustra hm
10:11 monopole still, machined parts are so much better...
10:13 monopole and i'm more into virtual prototyping nowadays than making hardware work
10:14 monopole http://www.makergear.com/pages/mosaic-instructions
10:14 monopole this was their version 1 fyi
10:16 robotustra yeah, I have rostock max v2
10:16 robotustra laser cut
10:16 robotustra it's not solid to the extent I like
10:22 monopole you have access to other prototyping tools? like laser cutters?
19:08 rue_mohr2 can I use a death ray to cut PVC?
19:09 rue_mohr2 if so, what setting provides the cleanest edges?
19:34 Tom_itx just make yourself a cnc laser
19:41 MrCurious if you make it a laser, it will require the addition of a shark emblem.... sharks with lasers
20:20 rue_mohr2 hmm
20:21 m_itx adds a cap to lessen the
20:36 MrCurious led's make a project cool. lazers make a project AMAZING
20:42 MrCurious not sure i have ever read about a LIDAR equipped CNC
20:43 robotustra MrCurious: http://i.imgur.com/G6vJUqs.jpg
20:44 MrCurious nice
20:44 robotustra yep
20:44 MrCurious my magnets are still swimming from china
20:44 robotustra have to design now upper holders
20:44 robotustra not flying?
21:12 rue_mohr2 nice balls
21:12 rue_mohr2 rotation isn't an issue eh?
21:12 rue_mohr2 are the actuators crossed?
21:13 robotustra I'll glue them
21:13 robotustra it's an effector for my printer
21:13 robotustra I do upgrade
21:14 robotustra should mill a plate to fix hot end
21:27 MrCurious i liked the idea of using a roundeffector magnet mount
21:27 MrCurious made me debate slicing up a funnel and drilling it to hold the magnet balls
21:27 GuShH damn I love 12L14
21:28 GuShH taps easier than any aluminum out there
21:28 GuShH I bet the crazies in the US are against this alloy
21:29 Tom_itx dunno what they call it here
21:29 GuShH .15% and .30% lead surely you won't get severe exposure from that.
21:29 GuShH Tom_itx: it's 12L14 everywhere
21:29 GuShH but there are "alternatives" now
21:29 GuShH without lead...
21:30 MrCurious well, if it does, will you know, or will all the neural damage render you mentally deficient..
21:31 GuShH MrCurious: .15%
21:31 GuShH a lot of brass alloys have way more lead in them
21:31 GuShH and you bastards had lead piping not that long ago.
21:31 GuShH don't play dumb, you did.
21:32 GuShH that was terrible by comparison.
21:32 MrCurious i imagine Gallium could be amazing to build with, but only in the upper reaches of Canada...
21:32 GuShH and you can get sick from aluminum just as well
21:32 MrCurious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aolRO9eteSk
21:32 GuShH it's real, you can get aluminum poisoning.
21:32 Tom_itx just recycle all the paint from chinese toys
21:32 GuShH then idly glow in the dark
21:32 GuShH Tom_itx: or old cars...
21:32 GuShH old car paint had a big amount of lead in it
21:33 robotustra Canadian shops sell substances than anyone can do explosives
21:33 Tom_itx so did their seams
21:33 GuShH not like the new stuff is any good for you, it will kill you.
21:33 GuShH sure, gas tanks etc.
21:33 robotustra just by mixing it
21:33 robotustra not gasoline
21:33 GuShH robotustra: err yeah it's called a supermarket.
21:33 MrCurious hey! don't knock Chinese toothpaste and children's sweets... they are a great value they must be sold at a discount as a loss lead er
21:33 GuShH robotustra: old gas tanks were lead soldered
21:34 robotustra no, canadian tire and farmacy
21:34 GuShH ...I'm not even talking about explosives.
21:34 GuShH well, you -can- make things go "boom" with just grocery store items.
21:34 robotustra no I'm speaking about real BOOM
21:34 GuShH depends on your idea of a bomb really. but at any rate, most of us can make one... doesn't mean we make them.
21:34 GuShH or care to talk about it
21:35 GuShH robotustra: sure and you can make your own poisons to slowly kill people, your point?
21:35 robotustra I don't think there enouph of substances in the grossery
21:35 rue_mohr2 wow, I'm exhausted after work today
21:35 GuShH there are plenty, specially for chemical warfare.
21:35 rue_mohr2 got hit with like 7 emergencies
21:35 GuShH if you got hit, that was another emergency!
21:36 GuShH Tom_itx: finally found a place that carries most of the alloys I want.
21:36 Tom_itx rue_mohr2 will be rue_bed before you know it...
21:36 GuShH and it's cheap.
21:36 robotustra Modern supermarket food IS poisonous
21:36 GuShH robotustra: yeah it all kinda is
21:36 GuShH these days
21:36 robotustra no need to cook special poison
21:37 GuShH you don't really need to cook it
21:37 MrCurious it is a world wide eugenics project to create a more toxin resistant human...
21:37 GuShH So... they also have shelves upon shelves full with offcuts, mostly 1045 or better steel, very nice.
21:37 robotustra so ammonal is "a la mode" in argentina?
21:37 MrCurious to prepare us for our future of DOOM
21:37 GuShH I needed two small cubes, just picked 'em up from the shelf.
21:37 GuShH robotustra: what
21:37 robotustra Amonnia +AL
21:37 rue_mohr2 if you find anything without a "known to be cancer causing in the state of california" do tell
21:37 GuShH ...
21:38 MrCurious i live in california. i will live longest
21:38 rue_mohr2 I suspect in california, even the water taps have that sticker
21:38 robotustra I think canadian police whould track ppl if they buy a lot of ammona
21:38 GuShH will they
21:38 MrCurious except for that MTBE that we llike to pump into the air, that collects and doesnt break down in the water table, and causes horrible effects...
21:38 GuShH I can buy lots no questions asked
21:38 MrCurious but it does wonders for smog
21:39 Tom_itx or fertilizer for that matter
21:39 GuShH MrCurious: that explains you!
21:39 GuShH Tom_itx: true...
21:39 GuShH but, for what? ie. what's your target
21:39 MrCurious dont piss off farmers... they have access to huge amounts of ammonia and diesel
21:39 robotustra the average age of canadian morgue is 77 years
21:39 rue_mohr2 hey I want the arduino sketch for the quadroped!
21:39 MrCurious come to think of it, surprised farmers dont have more fun with that
21:39 robotustra I don't know what is it in Califirnia
21:40 robotustra Clifornia
21:41 rue_mohr2 ooo I have to design the element pack for my vacuum former
21:42 robotustra you have to finish your arm #8
21:42 robotustra first
21:42 rue_mohr2 :( I wanted to show dad my sand blasting booth
21:42 rue_mohr2 I dont do projects in order like that
21:42 rue_mohr2 I'm currently stuck on how to do the wrist axies
21:42 robotustra I know how
21:43 MrCurious finally a news site you can trust... http://empirenews.net/
21:44 robotustra what's the crap?
21:45 rue_mohr2 haha some of these are funny
21:45 robotustra americans want's to sell Statue of liberty which was sold to them by russians :) LOL
21:45 MrCurious i heard french gave it to us
21:46 robotustra so exchange it with eifel tower
21:46 robotustra the want to sell statue because there is no more freedome in US?
21:47 robotustra I guess so
21:47 robotustra and who will buy it?
21:47 robotustra Chinise? to make more wires to sell to US back?
21:48 MrCurious that or they need to change the plaque
21:48 MrCurious give us your cold, huddled, light skinned highly skilled masses...
21:49 robotustra it's a very fine trolling of americans
21:54 ShH idly poisons robotustra with
21:56 robotustra fuck because of you I don't finish design of upper ball holder
21:57 GuShH huh?
21:57 GuShH MrCurious: the bandsaws they had at the steel supplier were awesome, the big one had a weld and anneal mode for new blades
21:58 GuShH agitating coolant tank and all the other features you see on a 10k machine
21:58 rue_mohr2 yea, I tried, and was close, but didn't leave the blade long enough and didnt' anneal it right
21:58 GuShH but, because of the coarse blades they use, the finish is terrible, the smaller one had massive play leading to crooked cuts
22:01 MrCurious nice
22:06 robotustra somebody just have crooked hands
22:19 Hyratel1 would bandsaw bladestock be suitable for your saw, GuShH ?
22:19 rue_mohr2 I recall having fun finding blades for my horzontal bandsaw
22:19 rue_mohr2 hmm I should find some more of them
22:23 Tom_itx get bulk blade on a reel
22:36 rue_mohr2 like I said, the first run I took at making a band with my spot welder didn't turn out so good
22:36 rue_mohr2 verry hard to get that -- end on end thing going
22:37 rue_mohr2 and I dont remember completely how the annealing procedure goes
22:37 rue_mohr2 I think you just hit it a few times shorter every time
22:37 rue_mohr2 (with heat)
22:41 rue_mohr2 anyone know just where this arduino thing is going? so many directions its hard to tell
22:57 Hyratel1 arduino thing?
23:20 rue_mohr2 yea, arduino seems to be all over the map latley
23:20 rue_mohr2 where its going is anyones guess
23:20 rue_mohr2 I kinda wonder if it'll go too wide and die
23:20 rue_mohr2 but it looks like the 3840 will work as a control chip for my new power supply
23:43 rue_mohr2 :/ one of my cats is missing...
23:59 GuShH Hyratel1: actually yes
23:59 GuShH Hyratel1: despite what some jerkoffs might think.
23:59 GuShH you -can- use it, it -will- work.
23:59 GuShH however, having the two holes made might be complicated without a carbide drill
23:59 Hyratel1 you jsut have to use the right tooth pattern to the work you're doing?
