03:14 zero_coder what about using Ni-Cd cells for robots?
03:16 Jak_o_Shadows what about it?
03:16 zero_coder Jak_o_Shadows, http://www.ebay.in/itm/ICR14500-3-7V-1200mAh-14500-Lithium-ion-Rechargeable-Battery-Cells-/261529565689?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3ce46079f9
03:17 Jak_o_Shadows That is Li-Ion, which are more complicated to use
03:17 Jak_o_Shadows doable though
03:17 zero_coder well, i need a bit of power and should be light weight
03:18 zero_coder it has an arduino, raspberry pi, a webcam, 2 motors (6v 300rpm) , wifi dongles and a couple of other sensors
03:21 zero_coder Jak_o_Shadows, 2400 mah would be enough for running for like an hour?
03:23 Jak_o_Shadows I don't know.
03:23 zero_coder okay thanks
03:45 SquirrelCZECH_ ehm
03:45 uirrelCZECH_ would suggest l
03:55 rue_house na
03:55 rue_house hour, hmm
03:55 rue_house pi is 3w?
03:56 rue_house webcam is gonna be hungry
03:57 rue_house if you rewrote marlin it'd prolly fit fine
10:58 SquirrelCZECH_ well
10:58 uirrelCZECH_ is cur
10:58 SquirrelCZECH_ about power difference between mini-itx board with lower intel procesor
10:58 SquirrelCZECH_ and arm quad core
11:00 zero_coder hey , can i connect li-ion mobile batteries serially to get 7.4 volts?
11:41 rue_house yes, carefull charging
11:42 robotustra_ SquirrelCZECH_: I know that 4 core arm like P1020 do less than intel Atom at the same power consumption
11:42 SquirrelCZECH_ well
11:42 SquirrelCZECH_ I was sure of that :D
11:42 SquirrelCZECH_ what
11:42 SquirrelCZECH_ even at the same power consumption?
11:42 SquirrelCZECH_ wow
11:42 SquirrelCZECH_ :)
11:43 SquirrelCZECH_ robotustra_: I need little bit stronger machine for my printer
11:43 SquirrelCZECH_ 1Ghz ARM is not enough for everything I want to do
11:43 SquirrelCZECH_ and was looking for mini-itx intel
11:43 rue_house its been ages since I saw an intel OR amd commercial
11:43 robotustra_ Intel was rulez for 40 years and will be for 40 years
11:43 SquirrelCZECH_ ASUS J1900I-C is what I like
11:43 rue_house you must be using horridly inefficient code....
11:43 SquirrelCZECH_ but price with power source (maybe I can find cheaper...) and RAM is much more that quardcore arm board :/
11:44 SquirrelCZECH_ robotustra_: *3d printer stuff
11:44 SquirrelCZECH_ which means, webcams
11:44 SquirrelCZECH_ :)
11:44 rue_house I mean, marlin is bloatware and it runs on a 16Mhz 8 bit processor with 32k of program space
11:45 rue_house ?
11:45 rue_house er 256k, whatever
11:46 robotustra_ rue_house: he means that he wants to film or webcam his printer
11:46 robotustra_ on the same computer
11:46 rue_house why?
11:47 robotustra_ to watch the printer from work wor instance
11:47 robotustra_ from
11:47 robotustra_ for
11:47 rue_house huh
11:47 robotustra_ becuase printers sometimes to crap
11:47 rue_house well, if you go to #mencoder, they will tell you that NO machine can realtime encode a stream
11:47 robotustra_ if you do 15-24 hours print
11:48 rue_house so you want an fpga doing it
11:48 rue_house I suppose
11:48 rue_house or just use an ethernet webcam
11:48 robotustra_ yes
11:49 robotustra_ sometimes you don't need to record it
11:49 robotustra_ just watch
11:52 rue_house the dedicated box I got has a 3 second delay
11:52 rue_house you realize, at 30fps, how many buffers that means are in the middle?
11:53 rue_house full frame buffers
11:55 rue_house why does everyone who writes video software have to buffer the frame?
12:03 robotustra_ 3 seconds delay is nothing with comparison to 24 hours print
12:04 robotustra_ rue_house: do you have 3d printer?
12:11 mumptai but timestamps in and you got a physical tracer for your codes actions
12:12 MrCurious that is mre useful in an async env
12:12 MrCurious i would just put a lock around an int, and bump it
12:13 MrCurious zero pad it as well, and it will be easy to sort to see the debug in order executed rather than order recieved
12:14 MrCurious that may be utter jibberish... jut crawled out of bed
12:42 robotustra_ MrCurious: morning
12:43 robotustra_ trying to print http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:398999/#files just for fun
12:43 robotustra_ to check if 0.5 mm nozle works good for pulleys
12:44 MrCurious nice
12:44 MrCurious print looking good?
12:48 robotustra_ just started
12:48 robotustra_ first layers are ok
12:48 robotustra_ in 46 minutes will know
12:52 robotustra_ btw, I print it first time 0.1 mm of layer thikness and it seems ok
12:52 robotustra_ no special setup
12:53 robotustra_ I wander if it resolves 50 microns
12:55 MrCurious 0.05mm for those who dont work in microns
12:56 robotustra_ yes
12:56 robotustra_ half of what I do now
12:57 robotustra_ I suppise that reduction of layer thickness should reduce the warping
12:58 robotustra_ for overhanging places
13:14 robotustra_ what do ppl do here if they don't know that 0.05 mm == 50 microns?
13:15 MrCurious google it when they are curious
13:16 robotustra_ so, are you going to print army of evil robot's on your printer?
13:16 MrCurious its more a tool for the robots to utilize
13:17 robotustra_ oh I have to print a cup for my pens finally
13:17 robotustra_ I have them in a tin from tea
13:19 MrCurious isnt buying a mass produced cup cheaper than printing one
13:22 robotustra_ chipper, but it's 1) not fun 2) not different from others 3) encourages the waste of natural resources
13:22 robotustra_ especially the 3rd point
13:27 robotustra_ in the world where there is no planning there is a huge overproduction of different shit
13:27 robotustra_ it's just a huge waste
13:28 robotustra_ if the companies had a place where they get their orders and do just their orders - it whould be nice
13:28 MrCurious and you are doing your part...
13:28 MrCurious now you need a plastic shredder to make your own filliment
13:28 MrCurious then you will have closed the circle of waste
13:28 robotustra_ no I don't need it
13:28 MrCurious PLA is expensive
13:29 robotustra_ the same as abs I think
13:30 robotustra_ I will think how to print any cheap stuff
13:30 MrCurious ok i take that back
13:30 MrCurious heap on ebay
13:30 MrCurious and available in designer colors
13:30 MrCurious http://www.ebay.com/itm/3D-WYZ-Printer-Filament-1-75mm-3mm-ABS-PLA-1kg-2-2lb-RepRap-MarkerBot-FAST-SHIP-/171131098304?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item27d83554c0
13:31 MrCurious HIPS.... need to learn abotu that one
13:32 MrCurious ahhh its a better PLA
13:47 robotustra_ http://s2.postimg.org/56yixo83r/IMG_7342.jpg
13:48 MrCurious looks usable
13:49 robotustra_ works fine but inner radius is 0.4 mm less than 22mm
13:49 robotustra_ err diameter
13:49 MrCurious now you need a robotic arm to remove wirk piece, place in a bin, and reset the surface for the next print
13:49 robotustra_ need to draw my own pulley with fixed diameter
13:50 Tom_itx does it run true?
13:51 robotustra_ it works ok and for big prints sizes are ok, this decreasing of holes while 3d printing it's known problem
13:51 robotustra_ yesterday I did 200 mm print and distance was ok
13:51 Hyratel is it a problem with your slicer?
13:51 robotustra_ no
13:53 robotustra_ usually when you print holes they shrink a bit, and because of small ringing they are getting smaller even more
13:53 robotustra_ so it's kind of normal and can be compensated
13:54 Hyratel so you take the known distortion factor and tweak the model in the slicer to compensate?
13:54 robotustra_ Hyratel: yes
13:55 robotustra_ I don't expect the precision bigger than the nozle size
13:56 robotustra_ printer which print in shrinking materal can't give you more than that, I would use mill for precise things
13:56 robotustra_ MrCurious: gonna go to russian store and buy some real food, fed up of ice cream :)
13:57 robotustra_ Hyratel: not in slicer, in CAD
13:57 Tom_itx don't let any planes drop on your head on your way...
13:57 robotustra_ I'm in Canada dude
13:57 MrCurious heh
13:57 robotustra_ no Malasya flights in here
13:58 MrCurious world hasgone mad
13:58 robotustra_ from Amsterdam
13:58 Tom_itx hard telling what they may aim at next
13:58 robotustra_ they can shoot only 18 km
13:58 robotustra_ anyway it was stupid
13:59 robotustra_ it was like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhxqIITtTtU
14:11 MrCurious dear god. has tv taught us nothing... thats how it startes...
14:13 MrCurious the part that makes it for me, is not him holding the gun, or working it, or making them run, but the triumphant raising of weapon in the air after...
14:20 MrCurious aw man, its a movie advert...
14:47 fghfghjfg in terms of HVAC systems are most of them using r134a or r12 in them I know those are used for the automobiles but curious if refriegerators and air conditioning units uses these mostly industrial , commerical , and residential central air conditioning
14:48 fghfghjfg I know older units may have used ammonia based but curious if now a days there is a standard that 90% of units uses or so
14:53 fghfghjfg And interms of automobile air conditioning unit seem as the components are the same as for the industrial hvac units just bigger versions of them i.e condensor , evaporator , offrices based tube , fan ,...etc
14:54 fghfghjfg Curious if the tools for automobile hvac systems can be used to fix the industrial or residencial hvac units (air conditioning units)
14:56 MrCurious do you have good insurance that covers neglegence and acts of stupid?
15:19 fghfghjfg do you have the answer to the question and what is so stupid about asking a question to a random person on the net they either know the answer or say's stupid shit like you are doing. I like learning you may not
15:19 MrCurious working on small parts on table saw wwithout using the sled, not a comfortable experience
15:19 MrCurious 1 bullet shot back at feed direction, and 3 scraps ejected out the bottom of th saw
15:20 MrCurious time to revive my sled
15:21 fghfghjfg nice hope fully the sled comes out great home made thats cool
15:22 MrCurious sled is made long ago. just didnt use
15:24 fghfghjfg well seems hopefully it works out well if it is wooden it can probably be used as a small toy boat for a small kid as well
15:24 MrCurious ok
15:32 MrCurious fghfghjfg: for future reference... table saw sled http://www.runnerduck.com/images/ts_complete-thmb.jpg
15:36 fghfghjfg Came out nice misunderstood thought you where making a sled at first trying to do multiple things at a time
15:39 MrCurious no. it is for facilitating precision cuts with a side of big safety
15:41 fghfghjfg nice it looks great very straight
15:42 MrCurious it is not mine, it is a exxample off th web
16:20 Hyratel Raw onions taste like regret
16:22 MrCurious add some horsedaddish
16:29 Tom_itx home grown horseradish is good
16:42 fghfghjfg I am curious if anybody know so a chart on the net that shows a list of all the metals and wood types 2x4 , 2x6 ,...etc and there psi ratings , shear ratings , tensile ratings , compression ratings , and there vibration/elasticity/plasticity ratings So one could uses those to know how to design a structure of his liking
16:43 fghfghjfg As well as for concrete based materials
16:43 MrCurious what did google say?
16:45 soudeur that would be an awfully large list ...
16:45 fghfghjfg The problem is I can find charts but I haven't been able to find a chart that contains it all in one and there is some mix information so I am looking for one chart for wood , one for metals , one for concrete based materials
16:45 soudeur "metals" is a large category i'd probs look at what type of "metals" you are interested in
16:48 soudeur http://www.concrete.org/Store/ProductDetail.aspx?itemid=SP1711V1
16:48 soudeur http://www.aisc.org/store/p-1578-steel-construction-manual-14th-ed-third-printing-hardbound.aspx
16:48 soudeur http://www.awc.org/standards/nds.php
16:49 fghfghjfg Ok I think it is going to have to be done on a case by case bases but I am curious is cable usually as strong or stronger then actual structure like girders , or wood structures .... What I am getting at is I am wondering if cables have a uses over going with girders or other structures for bridges
16:53 fghfghjfg Which out of these are strongest wooden , steel/metal , stone , or concrete bridges normally or can they for the most part by used to support most of the different weights imposed on them interchangeable in alot of cases
16:54 soudeur you are trying to simplify a fairly complex facet of structual engineering
16:55 soudeur the type of structure used is going to depend on a lot of factors cost, seismic, weather, span length, asthetics, life span, design loads, etc etc
16:56 fghfghjfg yes seems I wanted to know a simple overview of the bridge types and when you uses one over the other /why . Was going to do it from charts at a lower level but this would take much to long to consolidate the info / mathematical calculate the info for me right now where I am at.
16:57 udeur bl
16:57 soudeur google is cool
16:57 fghfghjfg Is box girders or plate girders stronger or when would you uses one over the other
17:00 Hyratel fghfghjfg, go away and google it
17:05 soudeur any of you guys use pvbroswer for scada type shit?
18:36 fghfghjfg I was just curious if there is any stores in the MA or neighboring states that one can by mining or petrolem or offshore engineering supplies. Or where in general do they sell these supplies .... Or if the mining and drilling industries have there own suppliers that don't supply random people. Basicially curious if there is a homedepot for miners or drilling industries
18:39 fghfghjfg Or do they just buy the uniforms , rent the tools like at a industrial version of a taylor rental store
18:39 fghfghjfg before they do the mining
18:58 MrCurious https://www.dropbox.com/s/n88nh8425n1zyum/2014-07-20%2016.39.16.jpg
19:01 MrCurious hmmm, connected an identical stepper to it in mirror wiring, and twisting the second one doesnt give enough force to raise the carriage, but it can controlled lower it
19:22 rue_mohr2 hmm
19:22 rue_mohr2 so, I have an encoder and an led to transmitt serial data
19:23 rue_mohr2 I need to send position updates over the led
19:24 rue_mohr2 I should be able to use a tiny13, but they have no uart
19:24 rue_mohr2 I have some tiny26 and some small m328p boards
19:32 MrCurious software serial, or i2c?
19:48 Tom_itx regular cereal
19:48 MrCurious he said no uart on it
19:49 Tom_itx he will find one or bit bang it
19:49 MrCurious thought the attiny13 had i2c implemented just fine
19:49 MrCurious not sure why he doesnt just cope with that
19:49 Tom_itx howz the delta coming?
19:49 MrCurious i2c solves all
19:49 MrCurious https://www.dropbox.com/s/2h6j8l1l7i3n4mq/2014-07-20%2015.23.37.jpg
19:49 MrCurious https://www.dropbox.com/s/n88nh8425n1zyum/2014-07-20%2016.39.16.jpg
19:50 MrCurious i of 3 axis has belt mounted
19:50 fghfghjfg box and plate are just to different types of configuration of girders one can make more types then this but I don't think one is stronger then the other or I think you can at least make either one relatively the same strength
19:50 MrCurious trimmed weight off of 3 carriages
19:50 fghfghjfg depends more on the material used in construction it steel , cast iron ,..etc
19:51 Tom_itx hint: don't take pics against a black background. they're hard to make out details
19:51 MrCurious fghfghjfg: right on topic as always
19:51 Tom_itx but i did see those already
19:52 MrCurious its dark where i am working
19:52 Tom_itx set it on fire
19:52 fghfghjfg Also interms of riveting , welding , or bolting them together is the a stronger preference I would imagine that to is more based on the material the fasteners are. Probably welding would be the strongest though under most situations
19:52 MrCurious that comes 1/2 way through the first print i believe, lets not rush throuogh and do it in th wrong order... have we learned nothing from ikea
19:53 MrCurious cement girders rivet-welding air conditioning missed coolants
20:00 fghfghjfg yes but the only way to get it all down is to do it a few times to get it down ... i.e use the equipment , install the rivets , ...etc Obviously most other information can be looked up but I want to feel how it is to install these things and uses the equipment.
20:35 MrCurious but the freon often times longss to be free through the rivet holes in the cemented steel... It is quite complicated really
20:36 MrCurious unless you by hance happen to have access to a flux-capacitor...
22:09 orlock Ahh, almost working
22:09 orlock now to remove all of the profane test accounts
23:01 rue_mohr2 one of them will inevitabally slip thru, and come out during the demo
23:50 mrdata the password is "moosechalk"
23:52 rue_mohr2 pff how about borredsquirrel
23:53 rue_mohr2 if you mix them you get moose and squirrel chalkboard
