01:00 GargantuaSauce not sure how much is smoke and mirrors
01:00 GargantuaSauce but even just the robot is amazing
01:25 MrCurious why are the joints on those arms available in stores
01:37 MrCurious NOT
01:52 rue_mohr2 easy, nobody can sell enough of them, so nobody will sell any.
01:52 rue_mohr2 its a strange catch 22 that exists
01:52 rue_mohr2 its like when you go to buy something in a store and you ask why and they say "they dont sell, so we dont carry them"
01:56 MrCurious it makes me sad, and makes robotics harder to play in
01:57 MrCurious currently pondering how to fabricate 4 perfect equilateral triangles
01:57 MrCurious thinking i will need to make a sled
01:57 MrCurious using a glued right angle triangle
02:10 MrCurious though i suppose my miter saw might be a good candidate for fabricating them
02:12 rue_house perfect is not a good tolerance to design around
02:12 MrCurious yeah
02:12 MrCurious i think perfect-ish
02:12 MrCurious strive for perfection, but design so faults can be coped with
02:13 MrCurious only problem with the miter saw is the right hand rule of momentum thing always offsets th blade some
02:14 MrCurious suppose some practice cuts would allow me to tune it to take that into account
21:30 MrCurious and now everyone is back!
21:32 Tom_itx what's missing if linux won't execute a binary file?
21:32 MrCurious +x bit
21:32 Tom_itx i had to reinstall rtai for linuxcnc
21:32 MrCurious wrong architecture
21:32 Tom_itx it's minimal...
21:32 Tom_itx ubuntu 10.04 rtai
21:32 MrCurious or missing the lib32 compatibility lib
21:37 ace4016 ah, MIG and TIG also uses a gas...; MIG uses a consumable electrode and TIG doesn't. TIG sounds like it might be slightly annoying...and apparently used more for aluminum and copper...which would likely be what i'd be welding :P
21:37 ace4016 and reading wiki...MIG might be OK for Al and Cu anyways
23:14 rue_shop3 shop space saver ideas: make the cnc machine big enough that the reprap can be stored in it
23:15 rue_shop3 tig is just a nicer weld, its a lot like torch welding
23:15 MrCurious combination cnc 3d-printer
23:24 GargantuaSauce rue_shop3: eh, or just put an extruder on your cnc machine
23:26 rue_mohr2 cnc uses leadscrews, so its a little slow for printin
23:27 GargantuaSauce i guess
