00:24 rue_more I think I'm holding a scsi ethernet card
00:25 rue_more why would they use scsi?
00:25 rue_more that means the main controller has a scsi bus
00:25 rue_more and that ... hmm
00:38 rue_more hmm, I think I put a really high performace scsi drive in the shop fileserver
00:39 rue_more which would explain the missing adapter
00:40 rue_more 80 pin SCA?
00:41 rue_more so I need an SCA80 cable
00:56 orlock SCA? SCA is damn near unobtainable now
00:56 orlock we had problems finding SCA drives about 3 years ago last place i worked
00:57 rue_more I have about 4
00:57 rue_more they are using it on the internal cards of the HP printers
00:58 rue_more from what I can tell I'm holding an SCA robot controller..."robot" aka printer
00:58 rue_more click, maybe the card is an SCSI printer....
00:59 orlock and def. SCA, not Centronics?
00:59 rue_more I'm told the medical machine I have in the truck uses a scsi control interface to the system
00:59 rue_more http://www.ebay.ca/itm/SCA80-HD-HDD-Drive-internal-50pin-Male-SCSI1-2cable-cord-wire-Adapter-PC-MAC-SUN-/291155082511?pt=US_Drive_Cables_dapters&hash=item43ca31fd0f
00:59 rue_more not hte ribbon cable connector
00:59 rue_more oo I shoulda trimmed that
01:00 rue_more http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Sparc-4-80pin-SCA-HDD-data-cable-5302146-/121255804770
01:01 rue_more the cards (network and motor interface) have that female end on them
01:01 rue_more so do all my controlelrs
01:01 rue_more I want to plug it in and see what linux detects on the bus
01:05 rue_more the bus off the main controller dosn't seem to be direct scsi, its wider
01:05 rue_more but the bridge card has two of these probably-scsi ports on it
01:06 rue_more it seems that sca cables aren't made
01:06 orlock no, as the drives attach directly to a backplane
01:06 rue_more I suppose its all supposed to be backplane direct
01:06 orlock and its generally slightly specific
01:07 orlock as the drives also need built in cradles/slides
01:07 orlock there will be a vendor/chassis specific breakout cable from the backplane to host bus adaptor
01:07 rue_more I have a backplane, a raid one and a single one, but I have a connector polatiry problem
01:07 orlock i have seen people use those SCA 80 pin to 68/50 pin + power adaptors
01:08 rue_more have one
01:09 rue_more well, I think I put one on the shop fileserver and have a 10k drive with the os on it
01:11 rue_more Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 02 Lun: 00
01:11 rue_more Vendor: MAXTOR Model: ATLAS10K4_36WLS Rev: DFV0
01:11 rue_more haha, yea
01:14 rue_more so I put a 10k sca drive in for the os, which is taking up almost 1G
01:14 rue_more and I put one of the raid drives in a drive cage, "pull in case of fire"

14:30 adam789654123 there goes the neighborhood!
16:00 MrCurious meh he co! meh he co!
16:35 m_itx slaps MrCur
16:36 MrCurious let me guess... your name is Inigo Montoya. and I killed my father.
16:36 MrCurious your
16:43 DagoRed ....
18:01 MrCurious the russian futbol'ers have horrible ballance, they fall over so easily....
18:43 Tom_itx MrCurious, too much vodka?
18:43 MrCurious world cup man
18:44 Tom_itx that makes them exempt?
18:44 MrCurious OH i thought you were implying "I" had too much vodka
18:44 MrCurious must be
18:45 MrCurious that or they raided a theatrical troup for their players
19:25 GuShh_Lap dude vodka is for russia...
19:25 GuShh_Lap it's brazil, drink their stuff.
19:25 GuShh_Lap make some caipirinhas.
19:26 GuShh_Lap with proper cachaça
19:26 GuShh_Lap go get some ice, limes and sugar you lazy fck
19:26 Shh_Lap slaps MrCur
19:26 GuShh_Lap boy did I enjoy a 30 year old cachaça bottle a couple years ago... that was good stuff.
19:27 GuShh_Lap hard to describe it compared to whiskey or single malt scotch, it's got other flavours
19:27 GuShh_Lap the cheap stuff is terrible though, probably why they always mix it into drinks.
19:37 SquirrelCZECH well
19:37 SquirrelCZECH because I found that my android tablet can perfectly control ma DSLR camera
19:37 SquirrelCZECH where is the tutorial "how to build servo-controlled tripod for your DSLR camera' ? :)
19:37 SquirrelCZECH or, some way to "smoothly" tilt the camera
19:43 uirrelCZECH can only thought about mechanism with a "long arm" to achieve smooth
20:06 orlock SquirrelCZECH: Funnily enough, thats what i'm working on
20:06 SquirrelCZECH nice!
20:06 orlock SquirrelCZECH: Theres a whole serial protocol for controlling them
20:06 uirrelCZECH just ordered recently the "head" of tr
20:06 SquirrelCZECH older one
20:06 SquirrelCZECH maybe I can do something with that
20:07 orlock normal photographic tripod tops will just be a ball joint with a locking mechanism
20:08 orlock astronomy mounts will have adjustable pan/tilt via gears
20:10 orlock SquirrelCZECH a lot of the geared astronomy mounts are equatorial though - some of them can easily be converted to alt-az, which is what you will probably want

23:39 rue_more I'v clicked
23:39 rue_more the scsi
23:39 rue_more this all makes sense
23:40 rue_more this HP MFC printer is a scsi printer with a scsi scanner on top!
23:40 rue_more the scsi scanner is off a seperate card
23:40 rue_more so the controller will have onboard scsi for operating the printer
23:40 rue_more which explains the elaborate chipset
23:41 rue_more this *should* mean I can seperate and make operate independently, the sheet feeding scanner
23:41 rue_more I just need to be able to connect to the SCA connection
23:42 orlock hah yeah that all makes sense
23:42 orlock and some little arm or something to drive it all running whatever ulta-minimalist unix
