05:01 GargantuaSauce nice pic RifRaf
05:02 RifRaf GargantuaSauce, cheers, am getting there
05:02 GargantuaSauce does it really have 4 extruders or did you swap out filament
05:03 RifRaf 3 extruders, one colour change to get black
05:03 GargantuaSauce really makes me want to build a machine that doesn't suck :/
05:04 RifRaf :) , should work on most machines, have just made X carriage for i3 though
05:06 RifRaf if you want scads can give em too you,
05:11 GargantuaSauce i have way too many problems to tackle multicolour printing right now
05:11 RifRaf yep its used up 6 weeks of my life :/
05:11 GargantuaSauce am thinking of starting over with a not-mendel
05:11 RifRaf gonna move on again till a few more people make them
05:12 RifRaf and print a few cool things as i think of ideas, not many things available so need to create them all
05:12 RifRaf make an i3 of some sort, they really are easy and pretty stable
05:13 GargantuaSauce yeah i'd either go for one of the really solid cartesian designs or perhaps a kossel
05:13 RifRaf gonna make a kossel soon as well
05:13 RifRaf they seem even quicker
05:13 RifRaf to make
05:14 GargantuaSauce https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcnhCNh2Ln4 this just blows my mind every time i wath it
05:17 RifRaf yep pretty neat
05:19 SquirrelCZECH http://hackaday.com/2014/04/15/automated-bed-leveling-for-3d-printers-is-now-solved/ !!! :)
05:37 GargantuaSauce https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCa8uDFzbsw
05:37 GargantuaSauce >Due to the efficient force transmission they exhibit workspaces of up to 100m in each direction and can carry payloads up to some tons.
08:51 GuShH SquirrelCZECH: and... where are the sources for this?
08:51 SquirrelCZECH GuShH: there are not
08:52 SquirrelCZECH I found google group about this post
08:52 GuShH so the hell with it
08:52 SquirrelCZECH and person that figured out it wants to patenty it
08:52 SquirrelCZECH but logic behind it is pretty simple -> hacable
08:52 GuShH the author should sit on a brenis.
08:52 SquirrelCZECH P.S: patent in a way that no company can make money on it without is agreement
08:52 GuShH give it a twist, then have it pulled out by an F950
08:53 SquirrelCZECH :D
08:53 GuShH with a picture and a few words it's enough to rip it off
08:53 GuShH I hate weasels.
08:53 SquirrelCZECH GuShH: there is video, 3d render showing the entire system in the google group
08:54 GuShH reprap has become a gathering place for weasels
08:55 ShH bottoms up his espresso
08:56 GuShH oh god that's strong.
08:56 ShH waits for it to kic
08:57 uirrelCZECH found "Club M
08:57 SquirrelCZECH I don't really like coffe, so this thing is nice
08:57 GuShH what is that?
08:58 SquirrelCZECH tea based enery drink
08:58 SquirrelCZECH tons of coffein, low ammount of sugar and fat
08:58 SquirrelCZECH https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nlPej_zZD0I/U0_mWwH0iII/AAAAAAAAAIs/dkNedFxUqEg/s1600/Leveler.jpg better?
08:58 SquirrelCZECH :)
08:58 SquirrelCZECH https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-SXK6uSUFBwE/U0_l6ZA3GvI/AAAAAAAAAIk/EciM6WdD59I/s1600/DSC00600.JPG
08:58 GuShH so why is it called club mate
08:58 SquirrelCZECH "mate" is the Tea
08:58 GuShH that's an injection moulded part
08:59 GuShH what is it from
08:59 SquirrelCZECH "club mate" -> maybe because it's in bottle
08:59 SquirrelCZECH I suppose he 3d printed everything
08:59 GuShH it's just a worm drive and a couple ratchets
08:59 GuShH no the black base is injected
08:59 GuShH out of something else
08:59 SquirrelCZECH yeah, that's entire megic behind it
08:59 SquirrelCZECH yeah
08:59 SquirrelCZECH that's plate of Replicator I suppose
09:00 SquirrelCZECH https://picasaweb.google.com/103157383263239943535/DropBox?authkey=Gv1sRgCOCf84SJ4YnUWQ#6000387287972721394
09:00 ShH sh
09:00 GuShH scott booker turns into scott hooker by patenting it
09:00 GuShH or is that your name.
09:01 ShH g
09:01 SquirrelCZECH well, I see his point and if he is going to do what he said, I am OK with that
09:01 SquirrelCZECH nope :)
09:02 GuShH he's a makerbot user... nuf said
09:04 GuShH SquirrelCZECH: so it's just a cam wheel with a finite encoded movement, like on sewing machines...
09:04 GuShH he would only be able to patent the application not the invention, as all of that already exists
09:05 SquirrelCZECH yeap
09:05 SquirrelCZECH and application can warry
09:05 SquirrelCZECH a lot
09:05 SquirrelCZECH :))))))
09:05 GuShH I still don't seem to care.
09:05 uirrelCZECH wants to implement this fo
09:05 GuShH he's got you hooked
13:04 robotustra_ how about delta cnc? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_UmhUjZhNo
13:26 robotustra_ RifRaf: how about delta cnc? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_UmhUjZhNo
13:33 ez1 hi!
13:33 ez1 I have a question, is somebody here familiar with RobotStudio? Thanks in advance.
13:37 robotustra_ Robot Studio from Microsoft?
13:42 SquirrelCZECH robotustra_: it's huge as hell
13:43 robotustra_ yep
13:43 robotustra_ and somebody built it at HOME
13:44 robotustra_ I thinking about design of my 3D printer
13:46 uirrelCZECH is mentally preparing is 3D printer for test run of "Drem
13:46 SquirrelCZECH :)
13:48 robotustra_ cnc like?
13:50 SquirrelCZECH yep
13:50 SquirrelCZECH but still more like "cnc"
13:50 SquirrelCZECH :)
14:15 ez1 robotustra_: robotstudio is software from ABB
14:36 GargantuaSauce that delta cnc is ridiculous and inspiring
14:45 robotustra_ most probably I'll do delta
14:46 GargantuaSauce cool
14:46 GargantuaSauce i was looking at magnetic joints last night, they look pretty damn easy to do
14:46 GargantuaSauce since it's just a steel ball and a socket with a magnet in it
14:47 GargantuaSauce and allow for super easy reassembly / modular design
14:47 robotustra_ but the joint is weak
15:48 MrCurious our bodies are weak. the trick is we dont demand them to do more than they can
15:49 GargantuaSauce uh what
15:49 GargantuaSauce that's the only way to make them less weak!
15:49 MrCurious in response to robotustra_'s comment that the joint is weak. i think it should do fine unless you try to have it do things beyond its designed capabilities
15:50 MrCurious however that is an interesting avenue to explore in robotics. planned failure
15:50 MrCurious such that the device wil fail in a resettable way and self heal rather than fail in hard way that it cant self fix
15:51 GargantuaSauce certainly not something that's been approached in most engineering fields
15:52 GargantuaSauce and there's a pretty good argument for it being basically the opposite approach
16:00 Hyratel our bodies have built in strain gauges
16:00 robotustra_ processing details
16:00 Hyratel like if you get a shaft torque meter on each joint, you could provide realtime warnings of "halt motion!"
16:02 MrCurious but that seems more expensive. as opposed to let it fail cleanly, and just put itself back together
16:02 Hyratel oh, say a cheap cotterpin that will shear at a given force?
16:02 Hyratel well, not necessarily cheap
16:02 Hyratel but dedicated initial point of failure which is easily reset
16:02 MrCurious but magnetic can be reset by the bot, a cotter pin not so much
16:02 Hyratel oh, magnetic would be good
16:03 Hyratel and you could eaily have a strain meter built into that
16:03 Hyratel measure deflection of the magnetic clutch
16:03 MrCurious GargantuaSauce: now if you can get that magnetic socket wired with a control buss and power lines so no wires between modules...
16:04 MrCurious congratulations, you have just invented robo-lego
16:04 GargantuaSauce needs more nanobots
16:04 GargantuaSauce well this is a reprap we're talking about, there needs to be a filament (perhaps in a bowden tube) running to the effector anyway
16:04 GargantuaSauce so there's no reason not to just run the wires alongside that
16:05 MrCurious oh i thought it was a hex...
16:05 robotustra_ so, I'm about to build delta
16:06 robotustra_ but without rails
16:06 robotustra_ and with small belts
16:06 robotustra_ thinking how to simplify the design
16:32 MrCurious Moar mead!
16:35 ez1 so, no one has used robotstudio ?
16:36 MrCurious not a one of us
16:37 MrCurious well, not a one of us who is awake and looking
16:37 MrCurious you should put up a link to it to drum up interest
16:37 robotustra_ ez1: ez means easy robots?
16:38 ez1 no
16:38 MrCurious ugh, looks ll microsofty
16:39 ez1 robotstudio does not belong to microsoft
16:39 ez1 it belongs to ABB
16:39 ez1 :)
16:41 MrCurious used for insustrial robotics?
16:52 MrCurious well, that was enlightening
17:43 robotustra_ http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=aluminium+tube&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H1.Xaluminium+rectangle+tube&_nkw=aluminium+rectangle+tube&_sacat=0
20:30 GuShH rue_more: darn... milling on the lathe is... interesting, to say the least. had to mill a flat on some round stock (for the knurler nuts) I had to use a 16mm finishing endmill, taking about 1.5mm each pass on mild steel... not very fun.
20:30 GuShH I went deep enough to get a nice flat for the hole / thread, but really the less you mill those flats, the bigger the range you have on the knurler
20:31 GuShH and that also allows to re-chuck on the 3 jaw, if you mill more than a quarter of so, you can't chuck it back
21:39 Hyratel GuShH, what's the process of making a knurler?
21:42 robotustra_ General question: Who is happy with own 3D printer if you own any?
22:03 GuShH robotustra_: nobody is
22:03 GuShH they spend all day long babying it
22:03 GuShH because they're held together with M3 screws and all the wrong parts.
22:03 GuShH Hyratel: same process for making just about anything...
22:04 GuShH I'm making this one with a drillpress and a lathe, usually it's a 100% milling project
22:04 GuShH except perhaps for the shafts, but you can use stock bolts
22:32 LoRez you don't have to baby the replicators
22:38 LoRez caveat, the r2 and the r2x
22:49 MjrTom the replicators will take over the galaxy.
23:29 rue_more well I cast up about 4L more aluminum angots
23:30 rue_more GuShH, I'd like to see the setup you used!
