00:07 GargantuaSauce for what?
00:08 rue_house robots to put parts on
00:08 GargantuaSauce what parts
00:08 rue_house hell if I know
00:08 GargantuaSauce hehe
00:08 GargantuaSauce the means justify the end do they?
00:09 rue_house the end is being entertained by robots doing soemthing
00:12 rue_house I dont think I have enough bike chain tho
00:12 rue_house oooh but I have a few large tire inner tubes
00:15 rue_house oooh, I can can make hdpe runners for the belt
00:15 rue_house I have solinoids for stops
00:15 rue_house I have ir senors
00:15 rue_house hmmm
00:16 rue_house maybe I could make a robot to make lunches
00:16 rue_house hwo does a robot butter bread
00:16 rue_house BADLY
10:45 trshfx hi
10:46 robopal hi
10:51 trshfx just lurking around
10:55 robopal yeah
11:11 rue_bed well
11:12 rue_bed GargantuaSauce, whats new with progress?
11:39 rue_house did anyone know that positions on hobby servos change with temperature?
11:40 MrCurious that implies the variable resistor is temp sensative
11:40 rue_house or the analog controller chip
11:40 MrCurious maybe you need to have the servo's do a "warm-up" exercises to throw a minimum level of heat into the system
11:40 rue_house after being worked for a while, the positions change ever so slightly
11:43 robopal but... how can you be sure that it is temperature related?
11:44 rue_house explain what else changes when the robot it used and then changes back when its not
11:46 rue_house its subtle, about 2 degrees
11:49 MrCurious test it at various room temps...
12:39 rue_house yaknow, if I made a python extension to operate this robot...
14:53 rue_house I think I'm going insane
14:53 rue_house hobbby servo pulses are supposed to be .5ms to 2ms with 1.5ms the centre?
14:53 rue_house it must be 1ms to 2ms
14:53 Tom_itx supposedly
14:53 Tom_itx yeah
14:53 rue_house with 1.5 being the centre
14:54 Tom_itx uh huh
14:54 rue_house cause 1.5ms is not he middle of .5 -> 2
14:54 Tom_itx wouldn't think so anyway
14:54 Tom_itx ok the house is painted
14:54 rue_house zippo:/files/programming/c/SSC8lib# calc "(2+.5)/2"
14:54 rue_house (2+.5)/2 -->> 1.25
14:54 rue_house zippo:/files/programming/c/SSC8lib# calc "(2+1)/2"
14:54 rue_house (2+1)/2 -->> 1.5
14:54 Tom_itx the garage is 3/4 done
14:55 rue_house what colour is it?
14:55 rue_house I tested the tiller I converted to electric, dialed up the torque on the speed controller and tilled about 8' of clay down to a foot
14:55 rue_house 8' strip... 1' down...
14:56 rue_house Tom_itx, did you see the arm video?
14:56 rue_house moving the dice?
14:56 Tom_itx no
14:57 rue_house https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlFo9bbvUiw
14:57 Tom_itx my clicker is broke
14:57 rue_house hahah
14:57 rue_house it was the first test, kinda crude movement
14:57 rue_house I didn't program the points that well
14:58 Tom_itx gonna shower before i do anything
14:58 Tom_itx started to rain and i had to put everything away including scaffolding, ladders etc
14:59 Tom_itx that title is misleading
15:00 rue_house I was gonna say "arm7 - brain surgery" but decided not to
15:01 Tom_itx if it's a 1 move it here, if it's a 6 move it over there if it's a.....
15:02 rue_house its interpolating between 6d points
15:02 rue_house about 4 or 5 of them in there
15:03 rue_house in another week, nothing google owned will work on anything but chroms
15:03 Tom_itx your lib is getting there
15:03 rue_house chrome
15:03 Tom_itx how come?
15:03 rue_house you havn't noticed?
15:03 Tom_itx no i haven't payed much attention
15:03 rue_house gradually things dont work under anything else
17:56 rue_shop2 "And as I finish my pullith on thy mower engine, it duth start, yet they cord lay limp in my hand. DOH!"
18:07 Tom_itx don't let it die
18:39 rue_shop2 not till the lawn was done
18:39 rue_shop2 I sat down and did a twofer, now I have two running mowers
18:40 rue_shop2 the 3rd mower needs a tank repair, not doing that soon
18:46 rue_house and the ride on tractor needs either, lots of either
18:53 Tom_itx ether?
18:53 rue_shop2 heh, I have an auto i
19:18 rue_house just started working on arm6, and was worried about what happens if I get on a roll
19:19 Tom_itx maybe you need to start on leg1
19:19 rue_house I need to get the mowerbot going
19:19 rue_house the big one
19:20 Tom_itx i should send you all my motors etc
19:20 Tom_itx i'm about ready to clear stuff out
19:20 rue_house I'm good
19:20 rue_house your giving up being a creator?
19:20 Tom_itx i made a few and i think i'm done with that part of my life now
19:21 GargantuaSauce rue_house: i run my servos from .5ms to 2.5
19:21 GargantuaSauce and they aren't significantly temperature dependent
19:21 rue_house GargantuaSauce, thats the range I found work on mine
19:21 rue_house the temp thing was a surprise
19:22 rue_house I only noticed cause the table is marked with where everything goes, and it was off
19:22 GargantuaSauce and no notable progress for me lately
19:22 GargantuaSauce starting on new simulation software
19:22 rue_house so I'm the only one
19:22 GargantuaSauce i just had an off week
19:23 rue_house I was working on sketching in io to the firmware I'm controlling the robot with, but on second thought, I'll just use my generic io controller
19:23 GargantuaSauce speaking of off week
19:23 GargantuaSauce GuShh_Lap2: are you alive?
19:23 rue_house I can put antoher usb->serial on there and stuff in a usb uhb
19:24 rue_house hub even
19:24 rue_house hmm I need some disposable usb hubs
19:24 rue_house to ebay!
19:24 GargantuaSauce i need a couple more too
19:24 Tom_itx don't spend more than a buck for em
19:24 rue_house da da dada da da, da, da dada da da dada da da
19:24 rue_house eeee-bay!
19:25 GargantuaSauce also if you have nonzero interest in hocket, tonight's game is proving to be pretty interesting
19:25 GargantuaSauce hockey
19:32 rue_house hmmm, if I plug in a usb robot that has 3 serial devices on it, how does my code know which is which
19:33 rue_house I like the idea of the robot having a hub, with a few serial devices and a storage device with info
19:33 GargantuaSauce you enrich the protocol to add identification
19:38 rue_house great, more overhead
19:39 rue_house I could add "how are you feeling" while I'm at it, the devices could sit around having coffee at 9600 baud while you wait for them to say their finished identifying :)
19:39 rue_house ;)
19:40 rue_house if I pay an extra 27c ea, I'm sure to get them
19:40 rue_house 1.26 isn't much for a 4 port usb hub
19:40 GargantuaSauce well it only has to do it once
19:40 GargantuaSauce hardly constitutes overhead
19:40 rue_house I'm kidding
19:41 GargantuaSauce okay hard to tell cause it was indistinguishable from your serious objections >:|
19:41 rue_house pff
19:45 GargantuaSauce it is kind of unwieldy to connect to a bunch of serial devices and then associate them with application objects after exchanging information to identify them
19:45 rue_house I'll just have the apps find them
19:45 rue_house "hey, what are you?... sorry, not who I'm looking for!"
19:46 GargantuaSauce these are not the droids we are looking for
19:46 rue_house ;)
19:46 rue_house I have to go shopping and I dont want to
19:46 rue_house I dont want to eat either, can I just plug in to recharge tonight?
19:49 GargantuaSauce i had a ridiculously big easter dinner
19:49 GargantuaSauce and three deserts
19:49 GargantuaSauce not a night for productivity.
20:02 rue_house there dosn't seem to be a stupid small usb storage drive for stupidly cheap
20:03 rue_house 1G ~$4, I'm not saying its bad, I'm saying its overkill for 1 or 2 files that will fit in 20M
20:04 GargantuaSauce microsd might be cheaper
20:04 GargantuaSauce also consider using wifi and querying a local server or something
20:04 GargantuaSauce having all your robots phoning home to one place would be a particularly good idea i think
20:04 rue_house I been all over it, nope
20:05 rue_house I wanted storage on the robot
20:05 rue_house for maybe config stuff, offsets? store programs for the robot on the robot
20:05 rue_house shopping time
22:48 rue_shop2 hahhaa
22:49 rue_shop2 they degraded the lathe swing with the chuck guard, for a 10" lathe, you can only do 8.5" before you hit the guard
22:49 rue_shop2 haha
22:49 rue_shop2 come to think of it...
22:50 rue_shop2 the plate is 8" so it does fit
22:56 rue_shop2 maybe if I downgrade my tumbler
23:13 rue_shop2 bah, I'm multitasking so much I dont even know which project the prices I'm making are for
23:18 rue_shop2 I think I can spot weld my own bandsaw blades
23:38 rue_shop2 I cant get hte joint to not go brittle
23:38 rue_shop2 keeps breaking
23:38 rue_shop2 end-on-end spot welding wont work without special setup
23:38 rue_shop2 vise grips didn't work
23:39 rue_shop2 I only gave myself an extra half inch, so now the peice I have is too short
23:54 rue_shop2 armyofevilrobots, if you could would you go for another cnc machine in its own 10x10' shed with a network line to it?
23:55 rue_shop2 oo I know where the piece I need it, its in the bandsaw under hte house
23:57 armyofevilrobots rue_shop2: Hahaha. YES
23:57 armyofevilrobots But I don't know when to stop :D
23:58 rue_shop2 stop?
23:58 rue_shop2 tell me about this, stop
23:58 rue_shop2 ok I made all sorts of peices of things
23:58 rue_shop2 I dont know what they are all for right now
23:59 rue_shop2 I do know they were on the todo list
23:59 rue_shop2 I have 5 mins to cook supper, eat it, and clean out the kitty litter box
