00:12 rue_more watch the positional error on most of it :)
00:12 rue_more its pretty damn good
00:15 peepsalot oh that sprocket is the feedback?
00:15 rue_more there is a linear pot under it
00:16 upgrdman anyone know how to calculate the angle of a caster based on its original angle, and the distance and angle of movement since then?
00:16 peepsalot rue_more, what kind of valve is that?
00:16 rue_more encoder
00:18 peepsalot i have some loom and silicone tubing and a fancy pneumatic solenoid block that i want to turn into something like an arm
00:20 rue_more the silicone may not work
00:20 rue_more I tried surgical tubing first, it dosnt' stretch right
00:20 rue_more locks up as soon as it touches the loom
00:20 peepsalot http://i.imgur.com/GsLWPuw.jpg got this free :)
00:22 peepsalot rue_more, i got the silicone tubing after watching this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkaVsoEd6Vo
00:24 peepsalot he has a ton of awesome videos if you haven't seen his channel before
00:27 rue_more nice valve bank!
00:27 rue_more I wonder whats its timing is like
00:29 peepsalot what do you mean timing? i'm completely new to this stuff
00:29 rue_more there are open, dwell, and close times
00:29 rue_more I was surprised that the washing machine valves I used worked as well as they did
00:30 peepsalot this is the type of valve it is. took me a while to figure out what this means but i think i get it nowhttp://i.imgur.com/HYRG8OF.png
00:30 rue_more extend the loom WAY past the end of the tube, use it to fasten to the muscle
00:30 rue_more have the pipe come out a seperation in the loom
00:31 peepsalot http://www.numatics.com/common/PDF/microair.pdf
00:31 rue_more somewhere I have a percentage of shrinkage for the muscles
00:32 peepsalot the only weird thing is that it came with all these fitting on the block, and it appears that the main barb fitting is on the exhaust, while the little filter looking fitting is on the pressure port
00:32 peepsalot do the valves not really care which way the pressure goes? or maybe it was used for vacuum?
00:33 rue_more it may ahve been used fora vacuum system rather than a pressure system
00:33 peepsalot ok. wasn't sure if that was something people do with these
00:33 rue_more think of a pick and place tool, suction cup
00:34 peepsalot ah, yeah that would make sense
00:34 rue_more some pnaumatic valves have uncontrolled vents int hem and will only work for pressure OR vacuum
00:35 rue_more the valves are the hard to get + expensive part
00:35 rue_more so your doing good
00:38 peepsalot yeah, i can't even imagine what this setup would have cost new
00:38 peepsalot many hundreds of dollars i think
00:40 rue_more I found unsuitable valves on ebay for about $12 ea
00:43 peepsalot i just need to block off the majority of these ports and figure out the right fittings to hook this to regular shop compressor air chuck
00:43 peepsalot to begin testing
00:44 peepsalot steppin out for a bite, back in a few
01:24 rue_more what are the part numbers on your valves?
01:24 rue_more arg I ahve to go to bed
02:03 peepsalot M10SS400M
04:05 Jak_o_Shadows http://jak-o-shadows.users.sourceforge.net/python/robot/armik.html Inverse kinematics!
04:05 Jak_o_Shadows My website is horrible

17:47 GuShH_ rue_house: check out the last photos http://www.michaelmcfadyenscuba.info/viewpage.php?page_id=226
17:50 MrCurious is argentina on fire?
17:50 Curious lights GuShH_ on
17:51 GuShH_ MrCurious: why?
17:52 MrCurious thought i read there was some unrest there, and the govt was supressing some stuff
17:52 GuShH_ rue_house: I wonder if there's space on the tailstock to add a spring, so it doesn't bind when it's slightly tightened hrmm
17:52 GuShH_ MrCurious: that's always been the case
17:52 MrCurious chec kyour PM
17:52 GuShH_ I'm not sure why she hasn't been shot yet.
18:01 Jentrep Herro my friends :)
18:01 Jentrep http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0017OFRCY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
18:02 Jentrep Do you think that guy is worth the time to play around with creating C programs for an ARM dev kit? :)
18:02 Jentrep *for creating
18:03 Jak_o_Shadows Strictly speaking, you can do the algorithms for the control of it purely on a computer
18:03 Jentrep Jak_o_Shadows: what?
18:04 Jentrep I can run the program on a computer?
18:04 Jentrep And feed a bitstream over USB or something?
18:04 Jentrep Jak_o_Shadows: oh you mean like simulate the algorithms on a computer? :P
18:04 Jentrep Speaking about simulations: any really great robotic limb simulators? :)
18:05 Jentrep Would love to play around with the software
18:05 Jak_o_Shadows Probably. But what I more meant is that you can just test the control using a virtual arm, then go to the real thing.
18:05 Jentrep The arm looks pretty cheap though O_o
18:05 Jentrep Is that a decent price for it
18:05 Jentrep I would also be interested in studying the mechanics of how it is pieced together to maybe learn how to design robotic limbs myself :)
18:06 Jentrep Jak_o_Shadows: Yeah, where can I download a virtual arm?
18:07 Jentrep I would love a robotics simulator that would allow me to piece together different componets
18:07 Jentrep and give them real physics dependencies
18:07 Jentrep I guess that would just be some sort of Addon to a Physx engine
18:09 Jak_o_Shadows I would make it yourself. The dynamics of it arn't too difficult. However, possibly a physics library for games would already provide most of the tools
18:10 Jentrep Make it myself? O_o
18:10 Jentrep http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Robotics_Studio
18:10 Jentrep Jak_o_Shadows: have you assembled robotics before? :)
18:11 Jentrep :(
18:11 Jentrep I bored him off
18:11 Jentrep Sorry
18:11 Jentrep < ---- noob here
18:18 Jentrep Welcome back Jak_o_Shadows :)
18:19 Jak_o_Shadows My net sucks sometimes
18:21 Jentrep :/
19:26 rue_house I bet the lathe is still better thana china one
19:26 rue_house bit of pitting on the bed tho
20:16 GuShH_ rue_house: nah most these things look "ok" but once you move them or take them out of the water they fall apart
20:17 GuShH_ rue_house: but sure, I'd like a ww2 era lathe, but only if it's complete and with little play and wear :p
20:42 GuShH_ rue_house: thoughts on the spring then?
21:01 GuShH_ rue_house: bah I went ahead and tried the idea, works perfectly.. used two compression springs (didn't have one long enough with the right diameter) now the tailstock locks fine but also less than half a turn and it's fully unlocked, no drag
21:01 GuShH_ before it would drag the block along and stutter
21:01 GuShH_ it needed a spring.
21:02 ShH_ notices the small things actually matter, and china is full of assho
21:03 GuShH_ robotustra_: it's all your fault.
21:14 robotustra_ because I buy on chinise ebay?
21:14 robotustra_ probably I'm guilty
21:33 MrCurious PLEASE take the Bieber back....
22:00 GuShH_ MrCurious: someone just shoot the bieber instead!
22:00 GuShH_ that kid needs to get his ass handed to him.
22:00 GuShH_ twice.
22:00 GuShH_ likewise his mom
22:00 GuShH_ that cunt.
22:00 MrCurious yup
22:06 anonnumberanon oh wow GuShH_ we are like-minded
22:06 anonnumberanon but then my hippie side comes back
22:22 MrCurious wonder what the offspring of bieber and cyrus would be...
22:23 Faek Cyber
22:23 Faek Bierus?
22:23 MrCurious tongue in or tongue out baby...
22:24 MrCurious dang, cannot un-imagine
