14:56 theBear http://www.unrlazyday.com/ heh, guess he was lazy
15:11 Duzz lol
15:16 DagoRed Yay! I actually got a PIC to do something cool... after years of not touching them.
19:04 theBear sweet mother of zombie jesus ! it just booted perfect, after countless time spent the frankenlappy is doing what it sposed to do !
19:04 eBear is VERY excited, this has taken more than a few hours here and t
19:05 theBear mm crap, now REAL quick shower and a couple anti-shaking/cripple pills, and off to a mysterious appt with the govt
19:06 theBear i can't believe it !
19:06 theBear this is awesomesauce
19:08 theBear heh, their website... "your next appt is 10am jan 7th" <click> you have no appointments listed for the next 90 days :)
19:09 theBear each clue more mysterious than the last
19:09 eBear is gonna seem way too excited at this meeting, all those 1000's of attempts only to see the monitor NOT become per
19:10 theBear and bing bang boom, all i had to do was write and compile an entire intel video bios and custom windows embedded driver like a cash register or something might use
19:10 theBear easy
19:10 theBear eff yeah ! get my bench back to do something i haven't looked at 100 times
19:11 theBear achievement: cigarette - unlocked
19:13 theBear fingers crossed i decide the quirky bios mode is cute rather than annoying when i get back, stitching my bios into a full efi bios is err, apparently not the easiest thing
19:15 theBear and of course only people who ever done it are forum idiots who just wanna hack bios to boot win8, so ya know, not exactly helpful
19:24 Tom_itx bit excited?
19:28 theBear you have no idea ! it blew out, it was sposed to be done over a month ago
19:28 theBear 'easy mod' pfft, i forgot that's an oxymoron
19:29 theBear unless you add butchery to one end maybe
19:30 theBear so if ya ever need to know ANYTHING about graphics lcds, lvds, intel pineview/atom and/or embedded graphics bios, or how it interacts with various official intel win err, i dunno, 7? drivers, i'm yer man !
19:31 theBear what's that ? need a lecture on resonant issues re: pwm dimming ccfl inverters ? sure, won't even need notes
19:32 theBear wanna sidestep that whole deal and make the bios/hard keys do arbitrary i2c for brightness instead ? good idea !
19:40 theBear l8r dudes
19:40 Tom_itx keep smilin
20:12 DuzzExor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_IzYUJANfk&feature=player_embedded
20:49 MrCurious robotustra_: do you think its possible to think without words....?
20:50 robotustra_ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r5NIF5d7A0
20:50 robotustra_ ща сфгыу
20:50 robotustra_ of cause
20:51 robotustra_ but it's should be the signal system of higher order
20:51 MrCurious i think words arerequired
20:51 robotustra_ no
20:51 robotustra_ math is also words
20:51 robotustra_ I mean numbers
20:54 robotustra_ natural numbers == words
20:54 robotustra_ do you understand this?
20:54 MrCurious so you agree that some language iis required
20:58 robotustra_ of cause
20:58 robotustra_ it should be a language
20:58 robotustra_ and it will be a language
20:58 MrCurious i agree that some form of language is required for planning
20:58 robotustra_ the only question - with what grammer
20:59 robotustra_ planning is not an issue
20:59 robotustra_ because we can imagine it
20:59 MrCurious situation comprehension
20:59 robotustra_ it's simple also
20:59 robotustra_ the most difficult part is prediction
21:00 robotustra_ for instane you know that 2+2 = ...
21:00 robotustra_ you know it from previous experience
21:00 MrCurious thinking of simple case of a rabbit that sees a wolf
21:00 robotustra_ if you fall into the water you know thet you are get wet
21:01 MrCurious the minimum comprehension i can formulate is a picture of the scene, with a "!" over th wolf
21:01 robotustra_ for instance - now we are speaking on different languages
21:01 robotustra_ I don't understand yours and you think you understand mine
21:04 robotustra_ I can not express with a couple of words how AI language should look like because our language is a very simplified progection of the whole idea of AI way of thinking
21:04 robotustra_ but you must to understnd - each spelled word is a lie
21:05 MrCurious was just trying to understand a simple animal, and ponder how it could think and if words or numbers were required
21:05 robotustra_ because it's just a projection to one degree of freedom
21:05 robotustra_ it has a number of states
21:05 robotustra_ states are enumerated
21:06 robotustra_ and one of the state is fear
21:06 MrCurious thats true. could implement a prey animal with a simple FSM
21:06 GargantuaSauce http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J72d1Bzf22A this is the only russian music i can get behind
21:06 MrCurious and a image recognition to insert commands to the fsm
21:07 robotustra_ GargantuaSauce: sucks
21:07 robotustra_ GargantuaSauce http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t21C09JiRc4
21:08 robotustra_ or this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g1dflMEpOU
21:08 robotustra_ is closer to your taste
21:11 GargantuaSauce i would not accuse you of being aware of my tastes in music but the videos sure are good
21:11 MrCurious stray cat outside has successfuly been whispered, and is now pettable
21:11 GargantuaSauce you mean formerly stray
21:12 GargantuaSauce because it's yours now!
21:12 MrCurious yeah
21:13 robotustra_ GargantuaSauce: taste http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7NMsywVQhY
21:13 MrCurious that was the exact opinion expressed by one of the royal guard cats who witnessed the act
21:14 robotustra_ AI can be represented as DSM
21:14 robotustra_ with adding new states on the base of previous experience
21:15 MrCurious Dynamic State machine?
21:15 GargantuaSauce what a highbrow chorus
21:15 GargantuaSauce again, good video but not a fan of the music
21:15 GargantuaSauce you are going to be guessing for awhile :P
21:15 robotustra_ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVXL2Kd5_tM
21:16 GargantuaSauce in case it wasn't clear i was joking about syava
21:16 robotustra_ I'm just looking up all my favorite clips
21:16 MrCurious HAH! i reccomended that exact implementation of FSM over te hweak one we went with and got shot down http://harkablog.com/dynamic-state-machines.html
21:18 robotustra_ for your 4 wheel robot will be ok
21:19 robotustra_ this one is exiting me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzPw_H48bAs
21:20 GargantuaSauce sweet hairdo
21:20 robotustra_ yeah
21:20 robotustra_ european grope
21:21 MrCurious french are a puzzling people... http://www.vice.com/read/these-custom-french-tombstones-make-dying-fun
21:21 robotustra_ european music has much more culture that us one
21:22 robotustra_ US one
21:22 robotustra_ even canadian
21:22 robotustra_ is different to american
21:23 robotustra_ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzEfI72HyCY
21:23 rue_shop3 whats the coolest power indicator you have ever seen?
21:23 robotustra_ scotland one
21:24 robotustra_ rue_shop3: http://nukeitfromorbit.com/nuke.jpg
21:25 rue_shop3 I meant for a device like apower supply, that indicator is toooo big for my project
21:25 GargantuaSauce the coolest? well you could put a stack of peltiers behind it
21:26 MrCurious i think canada bars such indicators too
21:26 GargantuaSauce you could probably get it below freezing and have it frost up
21:26 GargantuaSauce that would be pretty cool
21:27 robotustra_ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDTQQWSmo8s
21:28 robotustra_ I find out that I usualy like 1-2 the best songs of a groupe or singer
21:28 robotustra_ and it's usually the best one for me
21:29 MrCurious here is your canada plan for tonight....
21:29 MrCurious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW8ZO7EBRkc
21:29 GargantuaSauce .weather cyyg
21:29 makepi GargantuaSauce: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island: Light Drizzle, 45 F (7 C), 29.22(-), Feels Like: 37 F (3 C), Humidity: 100%, From the SSE at 17 MPH Gusting to 25 MPH - Last Updated on January 6, 11:00 PM AST http://goo.gl/CkS3U3
21:29 GargantuaSauce nope.
21:29 MrCurious https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/+PanahRad/albums/5963885072487477809/5965857898760065362?pid=5965857898760065362&oid=114077525644661833984
21:31 GargantuaSauce living in a slush kingdom today
21:31 GargantuaSauce will revert to an ice empire tomorrow though
21:32 GargantuaSauce oh those bearings you linked to arrived today
21:32 GargantuaSauce they are kind of not awesome but the price was right
21:32 robotustra_ GargantuaSauce: do you have electricity tomorrow?
21:33 GargantuaSauce i sure hope so
21:33 robotustra_ it wasn't today?
21:33 GargantuaSauce haven't had a significant outage all winter actually
21:34 robotustra_ what kind of heating do you have at home?
21:34 GargantuaSauce oil
21:34 MrCurious those round ebay bearing 4 packs?
21:34 GargantuaSauce yup
21:34 MrCurious i ordered those and they never showed
21:34 robotustra_ winter is just started
21:34 MrCurious so they suck, and i should not care
21:35 GargantuaSauce well they don't suck, they just aren't awesome
21:35 robotustra_ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIiMhSvtrGc
21:35 GargantuaSauce i used to be really into rammstein
21:36 GargantuaSauce their last 3 albums have been pretty meh though
21:36 MrCurious so was i until someone showed me one of their stage shows
21:36 Curious glowers at GargantuaS
21:36 robotustra_ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQIYEPe6DWY
21:36 GargantuaSauce not my fault you're prejudiced against dildoes
21:36 MrCurious milk spewing fire hose dildoes of malice?!
21:37 robotustra_ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbW9JqM7vho
21:40 robotustra_ krafrwerk und rabota elektronische rock
21:40 robotustra_ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHEoMpMvz7A
21:41 GargantuaSauce http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUcSTyD2T7M
21:42 Tom_itx having a youtube kinda night?
21:42 GargantuaSauce apparently
21:45 GargantuaSauce http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDmR1pPzU_c god damn these guys are weird
21:51 MrCurious http://digg.com/video/comedian-gets-heckled-by-u-s-military-guy-handles-it-perfectly :)
21:52 theBear heh, "liddle facts" (off the lid of my fruit juice bottle) says the average person laughs 15 times a day, once again proving i'm WAY above average, that or have an infantile sense of humour :)
21:52 MrCurious this guy is clever and funny
21:52 theBear wait, who doesn't like dildos ?
21:52 theBear who me ? i might have a bit of both, buti don't think most people would call me clever and funny <grin>
21:52 MrCurious i want to see a 3d printer mounted on a hexapod
21:52 theBear more of a practical plus bad-1-liner kinda approach
21:53 MrCurious to autonomously roam the city, printing dildoes on the sides of buildings. i think toronto could benefit from that... could be the nexxt banksky
21:53 theBear hmm, i'm sure i've seen something along those lines, my head is showing me hmmm, 'hanging' off of several struts, maybe sliding up and down them like a half-hexapod on vertical ballscrews ? something that would please you
21:53 theBear lol
21:54 GargantuaSauce well there's this thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHnaLbghZ1o
21:54 GargantuaSauce and it's garbage
21:54 theBear he fizzled out pretty quick here... really just that movie was all we heard about him, and noone seemed to actually go and watch it <grin> buddy who grew up until recentishly in ing-a-lund knew all kindsa stuff bout him
21:55 GargantuaSauce are you on drugs
21:55 theBear heh, aside from the odd 7805 or i dunno, darlington maybe, ALL my components have literally come from 'garbage' for several years now
21:55 theBear umm, not right now, but thanks for asking ( and err, offering ? <cheeky grin)
21:56 theBear damn i can do the rumplestiltskin on garbage electronics
21:56 GargantuaSauce let me rephrase, they took good parts and made garbage
21:56 theBear "hi man !" "nah :-( you got any acid ?"
21:56 MrCurious GargantuaSauce: you should have followed with "would you like to be?"
21:56 MrCurious news says colorado is running out of pot...
21:56 MrCurious could get really ugly
21:57 MrCurious they legalize it, take a year to prepare, then sell lout in like 2 days...
21:57 theBear yeah i know, couldn't help myself, dunno if you read back a little, but i'm still in shock that i finally convinced that damn intel graphics thinger that you gotta put out more lines if you got a lcd that is taller than you did/should have
21:57 MrCurious you got that working
21:58 theBear and as a bonus (at this stage) it seems to be black during the loading windows screens, which well, i'm much happier not advertising that mess in my workshop even if it's only me to see it
21:59 theBear i'm shocked, it's finally over, tape up a couple wires and things so they don't wiggle and break and catch in hinges, have the BRIEFEST look at getting my fixed-bit flashed into the mobo (integrated graphics, gotta alter the whole bios (just checksums and submodule addresses and crap) and flash the whole thing, but i kinda like the funny-looking boot and bios screens, reminder of how i did the impossible
22:00 MrCurious HOT GLUE!
22:00 theBear and he's the kinda guy that would just say to me "here's beers, fix it fix it fix it !" rather than anything silly like reinstalling windows himself
22:02 theBear nah, hot glue is amateur hour, that's what i did at my first job before i was 20, and while i sometimes don't mind it INSIDE heatshrink (hot air makes it go all meltey and conformal like) i'm much fonder of silicone these days, currently the nice bright red gasket one, cos it's pretty, i got it, AND it's guaranteed to something like 575C, which was kinda essential when i was fixing a lotta hid lamp holders and nearby bits
22:02 MrCurious whoa.... John Denver knew!!!!!!
22:03 MrCurious he saw colorado legalizing it.... "rocky montain high, bolder, colorado"
22:03 theBear heh just starting the link you gave, speaking of dildos, there an associated vid asking if the first rubber bullets look terrifying in the title, tbh they look like the dildos that didn't quite make it onto the shelf due to poor moulding :)
22:03 theBear and wow, that is impressively shit (that hexapod printer, if you can call it that)
22:04 theBear hmm, wheels on hexapod arms is interesting, never seen/though about that till now
22:04 MrCurious i prefer the hexapod cnc or hexapod plasma cutter
22:04 MrCurious far more terrifying
22:05 theBear "now you can print your bed, and print in it too" "DAAAWG ! we heard you like beds so we printed you a bed on your bed so you can print while you sleep !
22:05 GargantuaSauce yeah i need to get some casters to stick on my hexapod's feet
22:05 GargantuaSauce so it can skate around
22:05 theBear i ain't seen any of them, hexapods do have a classic charm, but once you seen 10 of them, you don't expect a lot of surprised
22:06 GargantuaSauce people doing the kinematics properly seem to be few and far between
22:06 theBear mmm, that's gonna take more than a passing thought to get how the wheels change things in my head
22:06 MrCurious hmmm, casters with the ability to lock them... so it can walk with traction (rubber ball castor) or skate, unlocked-rubber ball
22:07 theBear errm remind me, kinematics is the angles and coordination or choosing the gait or ?
22:07 MrCurious extra points if you magnetize the steel cores of rubber balls, and make them into motorized wheels
22:08 theBear lol, there are printed dildos all thru any search i do for 3d printer something :)
22:08 theBear jolly good show
22:08 MrCurious perhaps you are seeing the true reason for the birth of the 3d printer
22:08 theBear they have metal cores ? hmmmmmmm.... potential... you mean like little bouncy-balls or those bigger black squash kinda things ?
22:08 MrCurious the ultimate in discrete home privacy
22:09 GargantuaSauce i'd say 19 out of 20 hobbyist legged robots just use gaits that are sets of canned angles that get interpolated
22:09 theBear perhaps my mind is way ahead of yer, and even noticed that discretion/privacy point while casually checking out a porn shop during christmas shopping
22:09 MrCurious Hentai-Hexapod....
22:09 theBear pfft, amateurs, but what is a kinematics, don't make me dictionary
22:09 MrCurious thats the tentacle based one isnt it, or did i get it wrong
22:09 theBear lol, hex-a err hex-a-puss
22:10 theBear that's a 6 leg robot octopus of course, not what you were thinking :)
22:10 GargantuaSauce motion control
22:10 Curious cues the sex-robot s
22:11 theBear now where is that one i want you to see ? hmm, whaddya call it when you do arbitrary/3d positioning off of say, 3 adjustable length strings, or with 3 extendable 'arms' fixed at arbitrary points ?
22:11 MrCurious delta bot?
22:11 GargantuaSauce you are thinking of one of the many delta-arm reprap designs
22:11 theBear hmmm, the err, choreography, if you will, or just mechanically making steppers not jitter and generall aim where they should ?
22:11 theBear ooh delta sounds good
22:12 theBear nah, i'm thinking of the father of them all, assuming them all now exist :)
22:12 theBear the granddaddy, actually, i think it mighta been before the reps hit town, or very early days
22:12 MrCurious careful... dont accidentally invoke rule 34 where you dont intend to...
22:13 theBear yeah, delta was the word, and yeah, back then there was ONE result, i'll never find it now
22:14 GargantuaSauce http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gv5B63HeF1E
22:14 GargantuaSauce it aint 1985 anymore
22:14 theBear meh, you gotta understand i'm a little bit crazy, a lot of bits sexy, acid casualty from the 90s and self proclaimed psychonaut explorer, i'm err, what people might call err, beyond broad minded
22:14 GargantuaSauce i noticed
22:14 MrCurious not like it shows much
22:15 theBear hmm, is there something i'm missing, or does delta imply 3 arms, no more no less ?
22:15 MrCurious i saw a 2 motor version of that today with 2 arms on each motor and it was fast moving ball bearings around
22:15 theBear heh that background noise, yep, exactly 12.3cm/second, verified
22:15 GargantuaSauce no it does not
22:15 theBear least it's not boring and slow like a lotta diy stuff
22:16 theBear mmm, so they're just a million sheep.. it seems to me over the years, those of us who spend our time thinking and being creative AND building stuff, don't seem to find all that spare time to talk and make painfully boring videos full of gaps between the action to put on the 'tube
22:17 MrCurious now that would be a great video.... 50' delta bot counting sheep from one pen into another
22:17 MrCurious shatches them from one pen and moves them to the next one
22:18 MrCurious woud render all who saw it unablel to sleep effectively
22:18 theBear that period about 10 years ago when several of us simulataneously made x-y mounts for webcams to go with this cool motion sensing software rif found that could make them follow movement around was a bit different, not boring youtube style, but we all had live cams popping on and off the public net and usually following us around the workshop/whatever
22:19 MrCurious or 20 years back in the age of quickcam
22:19 theBear lol, that'd be gold, but for now i'd be satisfied with just seeing a 50' delta bot even if it couldn't "do" anything at the business end
22:19 MrCurious and the b&w show the world web cam
22:19 theBear nah man, that was for rich guys, we could never afford that stuff
22:19 MrCurious nobody saw how that could ever go wrong, and yet, it soooooooo did
22:19 robotustra_ you are all hard-herted crackers, you are talking about matter only.... no fly of soul...
22:19 GargantuaSauce http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmKnnp1xTPg this one is reasonably large
22:20 theBear heh, i was EXCITED when i got this 320x240 cam that been on the desk recently, buddy got a newer fancier one and this needed some basic maintenance, could take 20 whole pictures standalone if you had batteries, and well, 320x240 is a lot more interesting than nothing
22:20 MrCurious dont they use those for earth quake simulations shake tables
22:20 GargantuaSauce flight simulators
22:20 GargantuaSauce etc
22:20 theBear robotustra_: you been drinking ? i like yer statement, but it feels a bit barely-assembled-into-a-sentence
22:21 MrCurious i think UCSD has a quake sim that shakes scale houses to shit
22:21 theBear maybe i'm still in shock, should put on a blanket and have a cocoa or something :)
22:21 MrCurious i mean 1:1 scale
22:21 GargantuaSauce sweet
22:21 MrCurious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEJDqVUaCPA
22:22 GargantuaSauce seeing something that big accelerate that quickly is scary
22:23 MrCurious needs a giant quarter slot next to it....
22:23 robotustra_ I mean everyone talk about how to make a body of robot, bot nobody in here don't care about robot's soul
22:23 robotustra_ reasoning
22:23 robotustra_ mind
22:24 GargantuaSauce because the last 3 decades of AI research have not been coupled to robotics
22:24 MrCurious soul... you jsut lie and say they have them, and ooooh bad things wil hapen if they are bad, and hope they never call the bluff
22:24 robotustra_ they will
22:25 robotustra_ I promice
22:25 robotustra_ se
22:25 MrCurious thats right... there was a sci fi series where synthetics broke their programming and declared war on humans when someone told one of them "take a chance"
22:25 MrCurious that was a great series
22:25 robotustra_ what all these people don'g here?
22:25 MrCurious synthetics had a super weakness for gambling as a result
22:25 MrCurious gaining street cred??
22:26 GargantuaSauce watching us make asses of ourselves day after day
22:26 MrCurious i think Big-G is right...
22:27 GargantuaSauce http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du2f-EUDqio
22:27 GargantuaSauce wonder what kind of motors those are
22:29 GargantuaSauce 30 gram payload, 2 micrometre repeatability, 10g acceleration
22:31 theBear woops. got distracted staring in disbelief
22:31 theBear meh, that old story, one of mans MANY weaknesses also catching the superior newcomers
22:32 theBear heh 1:1 isn't a scale house, it's just a regular house (not a home :)
22:32 GargantuaSauce sure it's scale, the scale is just unity
22:34 theBear several friends and aquaintances are into gambling in recent years, but i still fail to see the attraction... i like the 8bit chiptune kinda soundfx and music, the immaculate HUGE eveyrwhere at the casino, the polite staff and snappy waistcoated croupiers, but a couple bucks every year or two is more than enough to remind me that gambling sucks
22:34 GargantuaSauce yeah what a ridiculous waste of money
22:35 theBear hmm, that scale thing raises some interesting questions, like how do we knwo any of the stuff we can see right now is real and not just lifesize scale models of that same stuff ?
22:36 theBear mm, it's AMAZING the amount of money they find to pump into the habit, then again, it's amazing how much i seem to find for alcahol, i spose you may as well spend your time and currency on something you enjoy
22:37 theBear the smarter (coincidentally?) closer friend is the most fascinating psychologically, he's no fool, discussed it many times, he knows why he 'enjoys' it, and all the little tricks and techniques they use to make it as easy as possible for you to do without feeling bad or foolish or like losing is a big problem etc etc, but he still goes at it like a maniac,
22:38 theBear right, now i'm back in ramblin-land, i gotta try out this new 'sticky tape' i got up the cornershop and regardless of what i find, get the frankenlappy into one nice firm lappy-like piece , then the nightmare is over !
22:39 GargantuaSauce ah yes apply the discrete laptop operator
22:39 robotustra_ sleep
22:40 robotustra_ good night
22:40 MrCurious it is scale... havent you heard of the mythical dwarf village of san diego...
22:40 MrCurious http://sandiego.about.com/od/uniquelysandiego/a/midget_homes.htm
22:42 GargantuaSauce that is kinda weird dude
22:43 MrCurious yeah... should have seem my face when i saw a tiny person at a gas station mere hours after learning of the myth
22:43 MrCurious was tempted to follow to see where the secret village was
22:43 MrCurious color me gullible
22:44 theBear ahh "san diego", which of course, means a whales vagina <grin>
22:45 theBear i'm excited about another anchorman film
22:46 theBear aww, that article was getting really interesting till he said they don't really exist and it's an optical illusion :(
22:46 MrCurious uh huh
22:46 MrCurious lol
22:46 theBear you gotta be able to omit the odd bit of science/laws now and again if you wanna rant and generally make terrible jokes constantly like i do , that guy got a long way to go
22:49 theBear meh keep misplacing little things, it's just so unfamiliar not spending every spare moment hacking at that frankenlappy
22:50 MrCurious wouldnt it be better easier cheaper to just buy one of the super cheap ultra books out there?
22:56 MrCurious and silence has fallen
22:57 theBear well lets help him up and dust the poor feller off a bit
23:02 theBear oh ultrabook, buy, i dunno, i like to think currently i need a hobby to stop me going stircrazy, i already like electronics and ain't too shhabby at it, so i fill the niche between REALLY screwed, and just not worth the trouble/risk in a shop/real repair place... so i get beer and cigarretes and food whatever, all hard to afford pensioning and hard to purchase when you can't get to a shop, and while filling the timei need filled, get to do something
23:02 theBear i enjoy AND help someone who deserves a 'free lunch' for a change, or at least a lend of a buggy-wheel, you know, insert analogy that speaks to YOU here
23:02 theBear i onyl do it for people i like and people they REALLY like
23:03 theBear and usually it's a simple component-level smd charge or main power repair, maybe a straight screen swap from two dead lappies, maybe a "damned kid managed to set a bootup password while i wasn't watching, fix it so i'm not sad"
23:03 theBear and that's REALLY ranting, <window-close> you just KNOW i'll be bakc :)
23:09 MrCurious ok you get a pass then
23:10 MrCurious still think your talents could be better spent on a 15' tall biped mech
23:10 GargantuaSauce i'm in
23:10 theBear oooh, nice work youtube ! gapless/skipless quality/resolution changes !
23:11 MrCurious in theory, we could just copy how they did that new euro jet
23:11 MrCurious standardize connection interfaces
23:11 MrCurious divide the work
23:11 MrCurious then meet and assemble
23:11 theBear mmm, maybe once, that's kinda why i do mostly phones and lappies these days, i can't really lift anything much bigger, or often even myself :(
23:11 MrCurious hmmm juju has woken my mass server
23:12 MrCurious this is promising
23:12 theBear oh biped, 15', that's about the size of the one a guy i knew in little-school (he was grownup, kinda err, teacher technically)built, little 2stroke engine the the head/thorax kinda bit, big steel legs like a windup toy walker, and curly sign-style neons thru a few body parts running straight off the sparkplug(s?)
23:14 theBear he also had a maybe 12' kinda paper-mache-tree line-avoider that was often allowed to run around in the middle of the local alternative art gallery when they didn't have the place filled, which i thought was cool
23:16 theBear mmm, was just remember the other day, he also had a little team of robot-mices he built (no micros in one then, motorola 68k or so from memory, little proms and ram and stuff all packed in there, they lived in maybe 2m square little perspex kinda world on a table for comfortable viewing, ultrasonic beacon lived in the corner, and they would spend the length of an exhibition patiently going around and back and forth collecting little foam blocks conve
23:16 theBear niently everywhere inside the box, eventually building neat little 'nests'
23:16 theBear now THAT'S my kinda art
23:19 theBear ok, this time out of the room, this time for sure :)
