00:18 rue_house Shiven,
00:18 rue_house http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/elex/hobbyservo/servo101.html
00:18 rue_house Shiven, ^^
00:19 rue_house Shiven
00:19 Shiven rue_house: right now, i could marry you... lol
00:19 rue_house you got it, yay
00:19 Shiven its impossible to find a decent tutorial on this stuff
00:19 rue_house tell me what its missing after you read it, I'll try to modify it
00:19 rue_house right now tho, I'm going to bed
00:19 Shiven rue_house: np, thanks for the link!
02:04 Jak_o_Shadows What's a good type of plug for me to buy lots of?
02:05 Triffid_Hunter Jak_o_Shadows: XT-60, JST
03:09 Jak_o_Shadows Well, these servos don't seem to be drawing any more than about 500ma. I suppose the peak may be a bit higher, but the computer psu should be good up to 20A, and the separate voltage regs should be good up to about 2A each, and besides, the servos are off a different voltage reg than the uC
03:12 Faek Words
03:13 Jak_o_Shadows Related to why the heck this robot seems to be failing when I try to run 2 servos.
03:45 Jak_o_Shadows GuShH: If i'm putting an msp430 g2553 into a circuit by itself, do I need to connect +3.3V to RST, and should I connect GND to test?
03:52 Faek Yes
04:25 Jak_o_Shadows apparently I should be using a small resistor instead of straight connecting it to gnd
04:25 Jak_o_Shadows +3.3 sorry
04:30 Tom_itx right
04:30 Tom_itx otherwise you can't pull it the other way without a direct short
04:31 Jak_o_Shadows Yeah, I get that. Should figure out how i'm going to connect this all up on a breadboard though
04:40 Faek Melt it
09:48 chris_99 ucs
09:48 chris_99 oops
13:44 ablegreen tom_idx: we were able to get velocity from the quadrature encoder and we're satisfied now but any ideas on improving the speed of the reading? we don't plan on spinning the wheel that fast but just for curiousity
13:44 ablegreen the CPR is 500
14:27 Tom_itx i suggested using only one channel
14:27 Tom_itx and only read one edge
14:27 Tom_itx that's 1/4 what it's currently doing
14:28 Tom_itx use int0 rising edge only
14:43 ablegreen tom_itx: okay
14:43 ablegreen tom_itx: thanks
15:14 GuShH rue_house: do you know what body type the standard motor is on these chinese lathes?
15:14 GuShH I can't find the pic of mine
15:15 GuShH found it, but it doesn't say :|
15:15 GuShH TYPE YL8014
15:15 GuShH 3/4 HP
15:15 GuShH IP44
15:15 GuShH This is not a normalized plate
15:16 GuShH http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1107542417/YL8014_Single_phase_dual_value_capacitor.html
15:17 GuShH of course the caps have been removed and mounted inside the electrical box on my lathe, for space reasons, I'm sure that's the case for all of these lathes. I just want to know the body type as to find an equivalent 3 phase motor
15:17 GuShH hopefully a 1HP, or I might have to make an adapter plate and find a longer belt worst case scenario
15:23 GuShH might have to just find a way to measure the distance between mounting holes and figure out the nearest standard body size then, china doesn't know.
15:25 GuShH and just when I thought I've found it... http://www.cnlyjd.cn/imageRepository/94a39108-bc49-4480-ab98-8a389b30235d.jpg not the droids I'm looking for.
15:27 GuShH it might be a 63-132 frame...
19:29 Tom_itx GuShH did you find your anodizing answers?
19:38 GuShH no
19:39 GargantuaSauce needs more electrons
19:39 GuShH huh?
19:39 GargantuaSauce to be an anode!
19:40 ShH throws a cat at GargantuaS
19:40 GargantuaSauce i want one but i'm allergic :(
19:41 GuShH maybe the cat is allergic to you so it's better this way
21:36 MrCurious scored some big piececs of aluminum scrap for free not a bad start to a fri evening
21:39 Tom_itx cool
21:39 Tom_itx plate or round?
21:39 MrCurious 1/2" thick mostly
21:39 MrCurious and one 2' long 5'x5" L shape
21:39 MrCurious that doesnt look like it will bend for anyone shy of king kong
21:43 Tom_itx i need to dig up a small piece of 1/4" or so
21:43 Tom_itx so i can make a new lid for my pendant
21:53 MrCurious i think it will be perfect for cnc practicing
22:03 MrCurious i had no idea they were making dual use greeting cards... https://scontent-b-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/994651_804881559541299_1355928137_n.jpg
22:03 MrCurious could send that to a few people
