00:30 wildmage so now we know what John Travolta's bone structure looks like
00:30 theBear hehe
00:31 theBear extended disco break ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6pg18bJt-A
00:45 MrCurious funky town
00:45 MrCurious suddenly in my mind i am 8 inches shorter, on roller skates orbiting a disco ball in the dark
00:46 Curious sh
00:46 Curious skates backw
00:47 MrCurious theBear: why does she have lesbian haircut #2 ??? disco era wass way too early for that one...
00:48 theBear 8 inches shorter ? wow
00:48 theBear cos lesbian haircuts are sexy
00:48 MrCurious :D
00:48 theBear oh, i see, you grew with time
00:49 MrCurious oh god, she is doing the robot.... now i cringe
00:49 MrCurious saw eben upton tweet abuot his stash today
00:49 theBear look at miley cyrus... i don't much care for her amatuer stripper moves that OBVIOUSLY need a lot more practice, but that haircut, fwooo
00:49 theBear umm, is that english ?
00:49 MrCurious almost tweeted back i havent seen one like that since the village people
00:49 MrCurious i think we fail to give miley credit....
00:49 MrCurious all she did was LOL :P
00:50 MrCurious we missed the joke!
00:50 MrCurious i think the joke was "now explain pedobear to your parrents LOL :P"
00:51 MrCurious i havent worked out the foam finger part of the puzzle yet
00:51 theBear i like it all, but seriously, she moves like a stripper on her first day
00:52 MrCurious unless... http://static.rumorfix.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/mileyemoji.jpg
00:52 MrCurious enthusiasm ?= skill
00:53 theBear i don't speak emoji
00:54 theBear tbh, i never seen one till just now
00:57 rue_house wildmage, heh
00:58 rue_house wildmage, propulsion?
00:58 theBear wow, a wildmage, don't see them often these days
00:58 rue_house ...
00:59 rue_house I dont think thermal switch was able to haldle 300c for extended periods of time, I think the contents are just ratteling around in the siwtch now
01:07 theBear bimetal ? mmmm, that's around the temp where they die i spose
01:07 rue_house :) it was from a hot water tank :)
01:08 theBear hehehe
01:09 rue_house Iwas looking at my bvh code library, its a piece of work I'm not sure I'll ever fully understand ever again
01:10 theBear heh
01:13 theBear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOzDL8BnV5M now this is a favourite
01:16 wildmage rue_house, I'm not a rocket scientist, so I don't deal with propulsion
01:17 wildmage although small thrusters are optional
18:48 GuShH rue_house: I think part of the threading table on the lathe is buggy... I kept getting 28tpi instead of 26 until I shifted the gearbox one point to the left, then I got 26 (but on the chart it says 24) ... the hell? and this time my big gears are set right (turned them over from metric to imperial)
18:49 GuShH if the gear ratio was wrong it would have been way off, not exactly one gear to the left.
19:08 armyofevilrobots sounds like the linkage is off, not the gears themselves.
19:08 armyofevilrobots They are either right, or crunch crunch crunch
19:08 GuShH armyofevilrobots: hm?
19:08 GuShH the gaps are irrelevant to the ratios
19:09 GuShH it just dictates whether they'll seize, work properly, or strip teeth and be no more.
19:09 GuShH a piece of regular paper is a good gap size
19:10 GuShH if the gearbox wasn't engaged you wouldn't be cutting a thread at all, the carriage would not move
19:10 GuShH so a moving apron means we've got meshing gears.....
19:12 armyofevilrobots What I meant was that it's unlikely that the gears were misaligned in and of themselves, otherwise, they wouldn't mesh, and badness would ensue. That would require some pretty faulty maintenance efforts though.
19:12 armyofevilrobots I think we're agreeing tho.
19:25 GuShH huh
19:26 Tom_itx huh huh
19:26 GuShH alignment is irrelevant in the sense that the gears have meshed. it is relevant to their life though, but you'd be an idiot not to notice they're slipping and chewing themselves... anyone who has been around a lathe should know how to setup the banjo, unless it's a big ass industrial production lathe that doesn't require ever touching a gear.
19:29 GuShH what is more likely is that the chinese push out several different models and errors can be made when they screw on the plates with the threading information
19:31 GuShH 30-30 set on position 8 should be 26tpi assuming the double gear is positioned for inch threading, but it's position 7 that gives us 26tpi. I went to both ends of the scale and it's off by 1, used some scrap plastic tubing to cut the threads one inch long.
19:31 ShH p
19:32 Tom_itx wrong chart?
20:30 GuShH Tom_itx: that's my assumption
20:31 GuShH or an actual error on that row, I need to find out the number of teeth on the spindle gear to come up with the numbers myself
20:31 GuShH the intermediate gear, whatever it's called
20:31 GuShH not the drive one on the spindle, the one before.
21:14 MrCurious ant backlash nuts x3 and they fit!
21:17 rue_house http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-Leg-18-DOF-Robot-Black-Spider-Robot-Bracket-Stent-Accessory-no-servo-/370876005453
21:17 rue_house errr, mmm eeee rrrrr uuuuuh
21:18 rue_house ah, no servos
21:53 rue_house http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-4w-2500-Resistance-1-50-kinds-each-50-Metal-Film-Resistor-/370727683416
21:53 rue_house if I didn't already have!
21:54 rue_house http://www.ebay.com/itm/57-styles-Plastic-Gears-All-The-Module-0-5-Robot-Part-DIY-/121004906843
21:54 rue_house ^^^ GEARS! REASONABLY PRICED GEARS!
21:54 Tom_itx you got buckets of gears
21:55 rue_house having buckets of them dosn't mean any 2 mesh
21:56 Tom_itx no guarantees those do either
22:05 rue_house http://www.ebay.com/itm/100g-PCB-UV-Curable-Solder-Mask-Repairing-Paint-Blue-/370669732975
22:06 rue_house so technically, isn't ath etching mask?
22:06 rue_house bah I have to go to bed
22:23 defaultro hey guys, have you heard about beaglebone? It's just now that i heard about it
22:42 Tom_itx defaultro, old news
22:42 defaultro is it a good platform ?
22:42 Tom_itx from what i understand it is
22:42 defaultro i'm thinking of moving over my project to this ox
22:42 defaultro box
22:43 robotustra it depends
22:43 defaultro this way, I'll learn new stuff :)
22:43 robotustra it's not so easy to program GPIO on it
22:44 defaultro oh ok
22:44 robotustra http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wui_wU1AeQc
22:44 robotustra whatch this
22:44 defaultro k
22:45 Tom_itx i've seen one run linuxcnc on a reprap
22:45 robotustra for cnc can fit ok
22:46 robotustra but there are a lot of docs to read before run GPIO
22:46 robotustra arduino is simpler
22:46 Tom_itx alot of registers to set up?
22:46 Tom_itx ardweenie is for weenies
22:46 robotustra it should be a special file to compile
22:46 robotustra into the kernel
22:46 Tom_itx i've not dealt with arm yet
22:46 defaultro looks like it's fun
22:47 defaultro I did a lot of recompiling kernel of linux back in the early days
22:47 robotustra so the adresses of GPIO are scettered
22:48 defaultro yup
22:48 robotustra so, then may be it's good
22:48 robotustra then go to BBB
22:48 robotustra I have one
22:48 defaultro what programming language is use for the programming?
22:48 Tom_itx c or c++ probably
22:48 defaultro k
22:48 robotustra no
22:48 defaultro oh
22:48 robotustra there is a specian definition file
22:48 robotustra pin definition
22:48 defaultro k
22:49 robotustra but it C like
22:49 defaultro got it
22:49 robotustra possibly it's JSON
22:49 robotustra or something like this
22:49 defaultro it's nice because it can be installed with a web server
22:49 Tom_itx http://elinux.org/BeagleBone
22:50 robotustra no
22:50 defaultro http://beagleboard.org/Getting%20Started
22:50 robotustra watch this video first
22:50 Tom_itx better than pi imo
22:51 robotustra yes
22:51 defaultro raspberry pi?
22:51 robotustra USB on rPI doesn't work at all
22:51 defaultro lol :D
22:51 defaultro does bbb have wifi?
22:51 robotustra but on BBB it's also buggy
22:51 robotustra no
22:51 defaultro oh
22:51 robotustra ethernet, 1 usb
22:51 defaultro i hope there is a wifi module that can be conencted to the ethernet
22:52 robotustra if you want wifi buy ODROID
22:52 defaultro Odroid is similar to BBB?
22:52 Tom_itx l8r
22:52 defaultro this one? http://www.hardkernel.com/renewal_2011/main.php
22:52 defaultro l8r Tom_itx
22:52 robotustra a bit better I think
22:53 robotustra ys
22:53 defaultro wow, it's expensive compared to $45 bbb
22:53 robotustra and better 2 times about
22:54 defaultro which one is better?
22:56 robotustra it depends
22:56 robotustra XU is good
22:56 robotustra U2 is good also
22:56 robotustra it depend on application
22:58 defaultro k
22:58 defaultro don't know what XU and U2 is
22:58 robotustra different models of odriods
22:59 robotustra I go to sleep
22:59 robotustra bb
22:59 defaultro thanks
22:59 defaultro going to the gym now, l8r folks
