01:47 GargantuaSauce kinectionism was a big thing in ai for awhile
01:52 eless-afk recalls a place set up a project with 3 boards, hinges, and told the Ai to try connecting them in any way, moving them in any way, to be mobile, and the Ai came up with ways the researchers had not expe
01:53 useless-afk praps if you told the spider to try moving around while you sleep, one morning it will have it all worked out for you
01:53 GargantuaSauce i fully intend to use ML techniques on it but not necessarily for locomotion directly
01:54 useless-afk o
01:54 GargantuaSauce cause that is part that can be approached much more explicitly
01:54 GargantuaSauce makes more sense to save the ai stuff for the problems that are more difficult to model
01:55 useless-afk well, you could fasten the feet down to the table, and move the body, have the robot remember how each leg moved
01:55 useless-afk steel table, magnetic feet
01:56 GargantuaSauce no position feedback
01:56 useless-afk then how does it know the leg is where it should be?
01:56 GargantuaSauce it assumes the servo is doing its job
01:57 useless-afk o
01:58 eless-afk tries to walk thru a wall and just assumes it happ
01:58 GargantuaSauce :)
01:58 GargantuaSauce as i've said i plan to do vision SLAM
01:59 GargantuaSauce which will offer higher-order position feedback of course
01:59 useless-afk you should talk to zhanx, he ahs put video cameras on his Elf
02:00 useless-afk maybe he should call it something else, if he calls the spider "Elf", then will he call an elf "Spider" ?
03:27 GuShH yey someone with an ip from taipei decided to give my "facebook" account a go
03:28 GuShH what a bunch of low lives out there
03:28 GuShH bah, found a nice electrical supplier at last.
03:28 GuShH first place I ever walked into that had everything I needed.
11:07 Anarcociclista sorry
11:28 useless-afk ok, before my time: Model 1F5 table model tv, complete with tubes, 2 channels (sight and sound), 5" picture tube (black and white, 1/2 CGA resolution) 3x4 picture, 17 vac tubes total : $2000 (2013 usd$)
11:31 useless-afk model 2F12 is a 12" picture tube (8x10 pic), 3 bands (pick up 3 stations!!), 33 vac tubes total: $8700 (2013 usd$)
11:31 useless-afk of course, you can buy all the parts to build one yourself if you like
11:33 theBear what makes you say half cga resolution ?
11:34 useless-afk the notion that it was so blurry that almost all text displayed was unreadable
11:34 theBear and what kinda idiot would pay that much money for an ancient tv with all the inductors and caps and crap falling apart etc etc
11:34 theBear oh, you mean wornout tubes and maybe mis-focused
11:34 useless-afk no, i mean brand new, built to order, in 1940
11:35 useless-afk told ya, [11:12] <useless-afk> ok, before my time:
11:35 eless-afk was reading an old magazine advertise
11:36 ace4016 1940 is before your time?
11:36 ace4016 >_>
11:36 ace4016 i keed
11:38 useless-afk oo, a tv with a *quiet* synchronous motor and framing device, and i can rent it (it's too pricey to buy)!!
11:39 useless-afk here's one, the picture can be viewed directly on the end of the picture tube!
11:40 eless-afk once had a tv with a fresnel lens mounted to the front of the
11:45 theBear i never played with a 1940s tv, but i've seen crystal clear mid-50s pre colour ones
11:45 theBear heh, lotta people own rear projections, not just you :)
11:46 useless-afk my fav tv was a big b&w console i got ~1973, used, i repaired, watched for some 10 yrs till it was *stolen*
11:47 useless-afk had a surprisingly good picture
11:48 useless-afk and i had upgraded it to instant-on, no 5 minute warmup for it to lock onto a tv station stabily
11:56 useless-afk ah, the olden daze, when it took 2 or 3 people to move one piece of good electronics equipment, eh, bear?
11:58 useless-afk a top secret military computer took up only one large room, needed 3 people to operate it, a 100amp 240vac power supply, and ran at a screamingly fast 100Khz with 1024 bytes of ram
11:59 useless-afk naturally, this meant it could be loaded onto two 18-wheelers, and was therefore portable
12:00 eless-afk wanders off to do other things insead of typing to her

18:41 cobr2 what are the rules regarding pleasure robots?
18:42 ua cobr2, clean after having fun
18:42 Nargoto Don't set the grip strength too high
18:43 cobr2 I imagine that using claw attachments are probably a bad idea
18:43 Nargoto It wouldn't be much of a pleasure bot
18:45 orlok define pleasure for a robot
18:45 cobr2 its only mission directive should be my sexual pleasure
18:45 cobr2 using my definition at least
18:47 cobr2 it should also be able to dispense cigarettes
18:47 Nargoto Why can't it light them too
18:48 cobr2 shoot, that's a good idea :>
18:48 cobr2 i'll include a wicked laser attachment for that
18:50 Nargoto Make sure it's UV so it doesn't kill the mood
18:57 cobr2 "Your Google Nexus 7 has been exposed to a fatal trojan virus while browsing recent adult-oriented websites." :(
18:58 Nargoto Did the virus force your phone to vibrate?
22:09 useless-afk what this part of the world needs: ball bearing rebuild kit for riding mower engine 12v starter motors
