02:47 Triffid_Hunter theBear: yes they have, just look at the number of games with "platinum" (everything works out of the box) status on appdb.winehq.org
14:46 GuShH hmm kittens are out of the box! the mom decided to take them out for a walk, interesting
14:47 GuShH I wondered where they were... all scattered throughout the garage.
14:47 GuShH kinda dangerous come to think of it, lots of metal shavings and tools
14:51 KongfuPanda GuShH, hello !
14:51 KongfuPanda oh no, poor kittens
15:02 GuShH KongfuPanda: why? they're becoming shop-hardened
15:05 GuShH the mom is heavily shop hardened, but I don't know why
15:05 GuShH I adopted that cat as well
15:05 GuShH she can stand near an angle grinder and not get scared, same with drills, lathes, etc.
15:05 GuShH and she's not deaf.
15:06 GuShH in fact she will stand near the lathe when I'm working on it and just watch.
15:06 GuShH stand/sit
15:19 theBear you should get her some cute little jordan style safety goggles, with the elastic and all :)
15:20 GuShH lol
15:20 GuShH theBear: do they make those for cats?
15:20 GuShH mine have fallen apart, I need new ones.. those are handy for grinding, regular safety glasses just tend to fall off when you look down
15:21 GuShH then again mine were for paintball, but just as safe.
15:25 GuShH theBear: my god... I just realized something
15:25 GuShH detailers are like audiophiles
15:25 GuShH you know, car detailers
15:26 GuShH those crazy ass fucks spending 1000s in waxes and rotary shit
15:26 GargantuaSauce there is a breed of sophism in every discipline
15:26 GuShH http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=13655
15:26 GuShH there are insances where detailing makes sense, specially on restoration projects for costly vintage cars
15:26 GuShH but a dude with a ford focus spending more on wax and pads than half his car is worth
15:26 GuShH ....
15:27 GuShH it's similar to when I see a shitty car at the car wash (the manual style, not automated)
15:27 GuShH what the hell man, just hose it down it's a piece of crap anyway
15:27 GuShH and it's not like they're going to hand you a better car afterwards, it's the same crap not even polished.
15:28 GuShH now they argue "but I don't have timeeee for that" and you can see them sipping a crappy coffee at the store near the car wash waiting for the car.
15:28 GuShH ..................
15:28 ace4016 lol
15:28 GuShH I have a karcher power washer that must be from 1993 or so
15:28 ace4016 same as when they change thier oil and such
15:28 GuShH I only had to change the power switch, still works perfectly -- takes 10 minutes .
15:28 ace4016 they have to waste time doing something while others do the service
15:29 GuShH Plus you can wash other stuff not just the car
15:30 GuShH ace4016: let's go to a detailing competition next week, I'll bring my meguiar's tshirt
15:30 GuShH and we'll polish our cars in an entirely gay manner in front of other weirdly oriented guys
15:34 ace4016 lol
15:34 ace4016 i currently don't have a car anymore
15:34 ace4016 well, except the rental
15:34 GuShH aww
15:34 ace4016 car accident
15:34 GuShH we can detail the rental!
15:34 GuShH are you ok?
15:34 ace4016 lol
15:35 ace4016 i am; my friend that was driving behind me, not so much
15:35 ace4016 she's still in the hospital
15:35 GuShH recovering at least?
15:35 GuShH then they say motorcycles are dangerous!
15:35 ace4016 yea; best she can. we won't know when she'll be able to walk again
15:35 theBear well, they kinda are, but damn they're fun
15:36 GuShH we recently had a school teacher killed in a hit and run accident, car went past a red light at over 140KM/h near a corner
15:36 ace4016 :/
15:36 GuShH she died instantly and flew across the street
15:36 GuShH dude took off, they haven't found his car or him at all
15:36 theBear mmm, i had a car come at me that quick, it hurts, a lot !
15:36 GuShH what's the point of having cameras everywhere if the resolution is so crappy
15:37 ace4016 yea, never quite got that
15:37 theBear if nothing else they work like a doorbell :)
15:37 theBear what you talkin about ?
15:37 ace4016 i guess it's still 1985
15:37 GuShH you can see it's got a "third stop light" and that it's a "red hatchback" so they're looking at all the cars meeting those criteria
15:37 GuShH haw haw haw
15:37 GuShH it's not as silly as it would sound on the UK where most cars I've seen are red, but still... good luck.
15:38 GuShH theBear: we have cameras everywhere in the city
15:38 GuShH mostly monitored by the central police station
15:38 GuShH sometimes they can catch a crime and dispatch in time, but with accidents and such the resolution is useless on most of those cameras
15:38 theBear interesting
15:38 GuShH some are high quality domes with massive zoom and they're even HD
15:38 GuShH but they don't have as many of those
15:38 GuShH all fiber optic driven
15:39 GuShH yes, interesting how my tax money goes into that, and not into fixing the pot holes
15:39 theBear oooh, now you say that, there's at least a couple at the bigger suburban trainstations here that are all fancy and remote controlled real big lenses etc
15:39 GuShH some will make you take air.
15:39 theBear potholes are fine if you don't have a car :)
15:39 GuShH >_<
15:39 GuShH except for those at the sidewalk, they're more like sink holes
15:39 theBear don't worry, i promise it'll bug me when i got a car again
15:39 GuShH you can break a leg
15:40 GuShH ok so we also have a lot of speed cameras
15:40 GuShH "radar"
15:40 GuShH some are not equiped with cameras, they're just to warn you about your actual speed on a sign by the highway
15:40 GuShH "you were going at ...." pretty amusing
15:40 GuShH not so much when you get a ticket for driving at 61KM/h on a 60KM/h zone
15:40 GuShH speedos in cars are not that accurate
15:41 GuShH they should have a fudge factor of at least 10%, at LEAST.
15:41 ace4016 aye
15:42 ace4016 my now defunct car was off by about 5 mph around 45-60mph
15:42 ace4016 it was more accurate at lower speeds
15:42 ace4016 probably a phase angle needed adjusting
15:42 GuShH well that's what I argue, but judges are ignorant in the matter.
15:42 ace4016 heh
15:42 GuShH it was my brother's ticket anyway
15:43 ace4016 i think here you can get a mechanic to verify it and they'll let you out of the ticket
15:43 GuShH also, they send it via mail, with a laser color picture of your car... and sometimes your face is on it
15:44 GuShH similar with parking tickets, except for places where parking is not allowed, they tow you... and that means they will break some part of your vehicle
15:44 theBear it's good to know the numbers, it changes over the years but i remember periods where even 8km/h over the limit in a signposted speed zone was guaranteed slap on the wrist no real charges
15:44 GuShH you might have to overtake someone for an emergency reason
15:45 GuShH or head to a slower lane, for same reason
15:45 GuShH so there have to be guidelines for this
15:45 GuShH otherwise for avoiding a ticket you'll end up killing yourself or others
15:45 GuShH theBear: how's public transport over there?
15:46 GuShH I can't complain wrt the bus here -- They have AC, comfy seats and it's cheap.
15:47 GuShH But I've run some math, it's not cheaper than a 125cc motorcycle if you have to take the bus at least twice a day every day
15:49 ShH has yet to take the "first class" bus -- whatever the hell that might be, maybe they serve co
15:49 theBear i dunno, i heard it can be terrible or good in general, but i never really noticed much... i spose here a lot of the more outlandish/suburb-winding bus routes finish a little early, specially weekends, like last bus to a place that takes 45 mins to walk might be 7pm sat night... but there's constantly busses from the end of the road to the city and all over, not sure they even stop at night anymore, pr
15:49 theBear obly for a few hours, but i find it very hard to leave the house on foot and not be in the middle of the city in 20 mins, and it's a good 10mins busdrive after waiting
15:49 theBear and pensioner tickets are CHEAP
15:50 GuShH we have an rfid card here for the bus
15:50 GuShH used to be all coin operated, reason why I wouldn't take a bus.
15:50 GuShH I once almost threw a bunch of coins at everyone out of annoyance.
15:50 GuShH They never serviced those machines, they would spew out all of your coins if it didn't like 1 of them, what a bunch of nonsense that was.
15:51 GuShH Train is OK, I don't take that anymore since there isn't one over here that goes to downtown.
15:51 GuShH For some things public transport is better than a car, take downtown and the subway for instance
15:51 GuShH There are places where you simply can't drive at.
15:51 theBear yeah, they got them here, one of these fortnights i'll get together the 25 bucks or what it is and actually get me one
15:52 GuShH they charge you 25 bucks? jeez
15:52 GuShH they're free here, you just pay whatever you want for credit
15:52 GuShH and if you've run out they give you an extra 5 bucks or so
15:52 theBear in syd (old city, other side of country) within about 5mins of the cbd they won't take money or give tickets, if you haven't got some kinda multi-card you gotta go to a newsagent or 7-11 to get a ticket, THEN go back and catch a bus
15:52 GuShH I think with 5 bucks you can get across the city
15:53 GuShH heh well the "multi-pass" (!) is an OK idea if it works
15:53 GuShH which it does here, surprisingly.
15:53 GuShH one issue: they track your every move
15:53 GuShH so a good idea would be to use a fake name heh
15:53 theBear here there's a basic beginners charge, you might even get it all back as credit, but as i recalled i go to the city with about 30 bucks, prove i'm a pensioner, walk away with a card and 20+ bucks credit on it, get myself a nice muffin or maybe some of those fresh cinnamon glazed doughnuts just up the end of the busstation
15:54 theBear oh that, mmm, i'm not sure that worries me here, the people i don't wanna be watched by aren't generally in that kinda end of things :)
15:54 theBear and i can't get regular price, pensioner is the only way
15:54 GuShH in most other places these cards have no user data such as owner name, id, etc
15:54 GuShH but it's proven useful in crime investigation though
15:54 GuShH people saying "I took the bus, I wasn't there" and the card history shows no activity at the time. Of course someone else can pay for you, so it's not solid proof but it's a starting point.
15:55 GuShH 35 cents (usd) will get me from home to the home improvement store, no need to worry about traffic just sit and watch the nice trees go by
15:56 GuShH it will also get me to most other stores if I wait a little longer
15:56 theBear hmmm,i should lookup, transperth.com.au or so if you interested... pretty sure the card itself is 'blank', recall something about login/password for credit refills online, hmmm
15:57 theBear unless i can workout how to hack up a magic buspass <grin>
15:57 GuShH I'm not sure about cellphone refills but you can walk to almost any store and ask them to add credit, just pay and hand them the card, they place it near the rfid scanner and hand you a ticket
15:57 GuShH the old public phone cards were very hackable
15:57 GuShH eeprom
15:57 GuShH most guys with the know-how could talk for free, this is before the cellphone era.
15:58 GuShH is/was
15:58 GuShH heck my color laser printer uses eeproms to keep track of the toner catridges
15:58 GuShH those are also very hackable!
15:58 theBear mmm, back then most places i hung around still had 'older' phones, i could tappity tap or tickle this or play a tune on my little keypad keyring
15:59 GuShH now I see 5 year old kids with iphones
15:59 GuShH but not all of them are lost, some will surprisingly engage into the real world after they're done "texting"
15:59 theBear yerp :( and 60y.olds excitedly tapping at their ipads
16:00 GuShH lol I haven't seen much of that
16:00 GuShH why are loctite thread sealers so expensive... specially the big one
16:00 GuShH stores won't even carry the small tube
16:01 GuShH problem with the cheap stuff is it doesn't work nearly as good!
16:01 GuShH might as well use gasket former / sealer
16:02 GuShH theBear: the only impressive point on the bus is the mechanics, specifically those diesel engines... they're impressive
16:03 ShH loves a good di
16:03 GuShH not vin diesel though.
16:04 GuShH no electric bus nonsense thus far
16:04 GuShH don't tell the politicians those exist
16:04 GuShH or they'll use them to steal more money
16:04 theBear mmmm, never got into a big bus engine deeply, but they do seem pretty fancy, and my god those gearboxes must be a work of art, all that weight, constantly accelerating, smoothly shifting with no apparent loss of power during
16:05 GuShH "one electric bus, one -- 21 million dollars"
16:05 GuShH turns out into a regular bus with a genset and a washing machine motor worth less than 10k total
16:06 GuShH theBear: lots of low gears, I haven't opened one of them engines either... I just like them. most are double turbo and yada yada
16:06 GuShH the milage is the impressive part, highly reliable engines
16:07 theBear mmm, i been RIGHT inside a fancy modern coaster-bus style thing, that was impressive
16:07 GuShH bah I machined an adapter for a pressure valve, I think it came out too short.. and I already loctited it in place... silly me
16:08 GuShH ptfe bushing and nitrile o-rings underneath the valve assembly, can't really heat it to remove it.
16:08 GuShH well the ptfe could take it, the nitrile I don't think so
16:10 theBear i've heard all those words before... i believe you :)
16:11 GuShH :/
16:12 GuShH this is why I need blueprints
16:12 GuShH I can't rue it.
16:12 theBear lol, that's the main difference between you and me
16:13 GuShH oh?
16:13 GuShH but you see, now I need to do it all over again
16:13 GuShH whereas with a CAD drawing I'd be done
16:14 GuShH it's a rough part in aluminum so it doesn't matter that much, it's just annoying
16:16 Tom_itx u can't rue it cause u r not a rue
16:17 Tom_itx half the stuff i build the cad is in my head
16:29 GuShH Tom_itx: rue is now a verb
16:30 GuShH we're all different
16:30 GuShH I can design it all in my head, but I need to have it down on paper before I begin working on it
16:32 GuShH rue_house: quickly indicated the 3 jaw chuck near the edge, 0.2 to 0.3mm runout at first glance, the plate is worse but they're married to within that 0.25mm average.
16:32 GuShH at the jaws with a straight rod, I haven't indicated that yet.
16:35 GuShH Tom_itx: my excitement for the camlock on the tailstock has lowered a lot after using it several times with the wrench, I can't justify it right now. with 100° swing or so I can fully lock it or unlock it, sure it's not a fancy camlock but for now who cares.
16:39 theBear rue was always a verb, it's what you were doing about the day when you met flyback
16:42 GuShH theBear: I don't fully get it :/
16:42 theBear rue the day
16:42 theBear ^^^ verb
16:45 GuShH wahaha https://twitter.com/KimDotcom/status/387820723664093184/photo/1
16:45 ShH r
17:53 ace4016 not quite sure why you'd get rid of the guns >_>
17:58 Tom_itx cause you feel threatened
17:59 Tom_itx and are pissin people off
18:00 ace4016 should get rid of knives, cars, pens, pencils, and anything that can hurt people
18:00 Tom_itx there are probably advocates for that as well
18:00 ace4016 lol
18:00 Tom_itx they got rid of all the playground equipment in a NY school
18:01 Tom_itx no balls, no ropes no .....
18:01 Tom_itx they replaced the balls with nurf balls
18:01 ace4016 lol
18:01 Tom_itx true story
18:01 ace4016 that's crazy
18:01 Tom_itx they are likely too broke to afford the liability insurance for some kid getting hurt
18:01 Tom_itx oh.. no running on the playground either
18:02 Tom_itx OOOObama is lookin out for us all
18:35 GuShH Tom_itx: so they're raising little sissies now
18:35 GuShH way to go america
18:36 GuShH dang it, got a clogged pipe.. snaking didn't work
18:36 GuShH time for mighty chemical warfare?
18:37 GuShH they sell a snake for the presure washer.. but meh
18:42 theBear how does a snake help with a pressure washer ? it contains grime lifting enzymes ?
18:42 Tom_itx i made a pressure thingy for the trap
18:42 Tom_itx i got a trap out in the back yard that clogs once in a while
18:42 GuShH mine is a degreaser type of trap
18:42 GuShH but the clog is somewhere after it
18:43 GuShH I need to run new pipes, do it right. whoever installed the current piping was either an idiot or an idiot on a budget
18:43 GuShH it's not lined, there's no sand underneath, nothing. and it's not even burried deep enough if you walk over it you can feel it squish down, plus it's the wrong type pvc they used
18:44 GuShH and they've snaked it in the past, to do it they broke / tapped into several parts of the pipes
18:44 GuShH because there are no inspection points
18:45 GuShH must be 40 or 50 meters worth of pipe
18:45 GuShH most snakes are either 10 or 25 meters
18:45 GuShH so if I'm going to install new plumbing, I'm going to have inspection points at least 10 meters apart.
18:45 GuShH there's a chamber somewhere in the middle, but no opening.
18:46 Tom_itx i ran new pipes
18:47 GuShH Tom_itx: rented some fancy tool to dig the trenches?
18:47 GuShH I'll have to hire someone for that...
18:47 Tom_itx i hired it
18:47 GuShH the rest I plan to do it myself
18:48 GuShH what's the desired angle on a drain pipe?
18:48 Tom_itx 1" every 10'
18:49 GuShH so 2.5 cm per 3 meters
18:49 Tom_itx too much angle and the solids separate
18:49 GuShH the house is raised, but the rest of the path is rather leveled
18:49 GuShH I don't think there's a plumbing blueprint with the house plans...
18:50 GuShH I wasn't given one for the electrical either
18:50 GuShH hmm that's not much of a slope
18:53 GuShH I think currently there's a portion that's actually horizontal and then it slopes back again
18:54 Tom_itx the preferred pitch (or downward slope) of the sewer line is 1/4 inch per foot (1" per 4'). But I also see flow capacity for sewer lines with pitches from 1/8" per foot up to 1/2" per foot
18:54 Tom_itx Read more: http://www.doityourself.com/forum/plumbing-piping/210631-pitch-sewer-line.html#ixzz2hMipcY9n
18:54 Tom_itx maybe a bit more that i said
18:54 Tom_itx i've heard 1" in 10' before though
18:54 GuShH oh sewer
18:55 GuShH that's a big more heavier duty
18:55 GuShH this is just for greywater
18:55 Tom_itx you said drain i assumed you meant that
18:55 GuShH sorry
18:55 Tom_itx it's still water
18:55 GuShH but less chunky :p
18:55 Tom_itx same applies probably
18:55 ShH co
18:56 GuShH it must be like rush hour in a tokio train station right in those pipes every time you flush
18:56 Tom_itx Mine is (4") set 1" every 8' . My (6") long drain 120' was set 1" drop per 10'
18:56 Tom_itx hope this gives you some reference.
18:56 Tom_itx from some forum
18:56 ShH needs to source the materials first, and a cheap wo
18:57 Tom_itx i dug the first half myself
18:57 Tom_itx when i did the garage
18:57 GuShH strong back?
18:57 GuShH mine used to be.
18:57 Tom_itx i also dug in all the sprinklers
18:57 GuShH oh that's another project
18:57 Tom_itx it was 110F out when i did that
18:57 GuShH but seems easier
18:57 Tom_itx memorable
18:58 GuShH there are many options for medium to low pressure systems using flex hose
18:58 GuShH the previous place had hard lines with brass sprinklers, what a mess.
18:58 Tom_itx The trade accepted practice is described in minimums. 1/8"/12 for 4", 1/4"/12 for 3 ". A steaper pitch, over a long distance can create a siphoning effect wich will pull water out of the traps
18:58 Tom_itx Read more: http://www.doityourself.com/forum/plumbing-piping/210631-pitch-sewer-line.html#ixzz2hMjvzwl2
18:58 GuShH 6HP pump, I couldn't bring it with me :(
18:58 Tom_itx another reason not to have too much slope
18:59 GuShH that thing was a tiny 3 phase monster
18:59 Tom_itx skip the link i dunno how that got pasted
18:59 GuShH poop can erode pipes?
19:00 GuShH you learn something new every day! I guess it depends on your diets
19:00 Tom_itx probably so
19:00 GuShH If you eat glass for breakfast...
19:01 GuShH hmm about 12 usd for 4 meters worth of ~4.3 inch pipe
19:01 GuShH not including delivery
19:02 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/house/drain1.jpg
19:02 Tom_itx found it
19:02 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/house/drain4.jpg
19:02 Tom_itx that goes to the main
19:03 GuShH should've had them dig a ww2 trench
19:04 Tom_itx the pipe sticking up in 1 is the far cleanout where the trap is
19:04 GuShH Tom_itx: was the old piping in bad condition or is this all new?
19:04 Tom_itx it was full of roots and i got tired of messin
19:04 Tom_itx clay
19:04 GuShH same problem here
19:04 Tom_itx you can see it laying on the yard
19:05 GuShH this is the stuff I plan to use http://www.industriassaladillo.com.ar/esp/productos/awaduct/ in spanish sorry
19:05 GuShH they say you don't need to seal them, the rubber does it for you... I would still like to seal them
19:06 Tom_itx they use that style on the larger mains and also water pipe
19:06 Tom_itx schedule 80 at least
19:06 GuShH regular pvc is a bit cheaper here, but not that much by comparison
19:06 GuShH I figure why not
19:07 Tom_itx why?
19:07 Tom_itx it will outlast you
19:07 GuShH why not use this one instead of regular pvc
19:07 GuShH it probably will, unless trees grow stronger!
19:07 Tom_itx i forsee roots getting in the neoprene seal
19:07 Tom_itx or whatever it is
19:08 GuShH maybe, I would use a sealant
19:08 GuShH they also have some thermal forming stuff, don't know what they're called... but it's usually for smaller piping
19:08 GuShH you get a perfect seal though
19:08 Tom_itx they thermal bond gas and water mains here
19:09 GuShH makes sense
19:09 GuShH no chemicals, fast, strong, just works.
19:09 GuShH but you do need power of some sort!
19:09 theBear i recently replaced a perished rubber chunky grommet sealey thing between the top and bottom of my toilet with a short section of bike innertube carefully stretched over the places that need err, rubbering
19:09 Tom_itx the trucks have gens on em
19:10 GuShH lol
19:10 GuShH Tom_itx: figures, just like welding trucks
19:10 Tom_itx theBear, i've done similar in a tight place before
19:10 Tom_itx used radiator hose
19:10 GuShH hmm I found out the hard way inner tube doesn't like gasoline
19:10 GuShH it swells up
19:11 GuShH "let's make a gasket for this gas can out of inner tube, what could possibly go wrong?"
19:11 GuShH pop goes the cap.
19:13 GuShH 82 bucks for the pressure washer snake... 7.5 meters / 24 foot .. ouch
19:13 GuShH but it ejects the water behind the nozzle, odd
19:13 GuShH it pushes itself in, but I thought it would also have a front nozzle to clear debris?
19:15 GuShH bah back to work, thanks Tom_itx - theBear - NSA
19:18 theBear nsa again ? what's with the nsa this week ? someone asked earlier when i linked some pics on the old server and was log-watching at the time if i spotted any nsa activity in the burst of interest...
19:20 GuShH hahah this is too funny... on the news channel, "cows generating gas for vehicles"
19:21 GuShH "one weeks worth of one cow can give you a full tank of compressed natural gas"
19:21 robotustra for 5 min of drive
19:21 GuShH 300KM
19:21 GuShH for a 1.6 engine
19:21 robotustra ORLY?
19:21 GuShH most taxies here run on CNG
19:22 GuShH they put a backpack with a water separator and air trap
19:22 GuShH looks cute, let's see if I can find a pic... I forgot the name of the organization, it's a local one
19:22 GuShH INTA
19:22 robotustra compressed iar?
19:22 robotustra air?
19:22 GuShH methane
19:23 robotustra ah ok
19:23 GuShH the valve is implanted in their stomach (which I don't know, maybe all?)
19:23 GuShH just a tap with a water trap and a chamber
19:23 GuShH same cows used for milk production
19:23 GuShH I knew about using cow poop in silos to generate methane, but not this
19:23 theBear who has a tap in their stomach ?
19:23 GuShH a cow
19:24 GuShH oh wow
19:24 GuShH first cow genetically modified to produce maternal milk
19:24 GuShH they're doing neat stuff
19:24 GuShH http://intainforma.inta.gov.ar/?p=11838 sorry it's also in spanish
19:25 GuShH robotustra: "russian stove" http://intainforma.inta.gov.ar/?cat=41
19:26 GuShH bah I couldn't find it, but here's the first prototype http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_i62XvmrHAcA/S0ypqqMncpI/AAAAAAAAABI/NCoUffmx5a8/s320/vaca_con_mochila.jpg
19:26 GuShH now it looks better with plastic molded parts and tank... heh
19:27 Tom_itx how's the cow feel carrying a bomb around?
19:27 GuShH here it is - http://intainforma.inta.gov.ar/?p=19084
19:27 GuShH they reduced the size so it doesn't bother them anymore
19:27 Tom_itx did they ask?
19:27 GuShH Tom_itx: this means rural areas can have a source of power any time
19:27 GuShH no but you can tell when animals are uneasy
19:28 GuShH for instance the way they castrate lamb, code says you have to use rubber bands, but it changes their behavior for over a week, they end up stressed out and often quit drinking / eating
19:28 GuShH so there are quicker methods that work best
19:28 Tom_itx i probably would too
19:29 GuShH no kidding, but you'd know your stuff would fall off after a week or two, they don't
19:29 GuShH Tom_itx: after combustion in an engine, with compressed natural gas, what's the end product?
19:29 GuShH co2?
19:30 Tom_itx ask kat
19:30 GuShH they claim since the methane won't be released to the atmosphere, there's a secondary benefit to this project
19:30 GuShH she's got me on ignore
19:31 GuShH now they just need a tiny compressor on the cow
19:31 GuShH since currently the compression is a separate phase
19:32 GuShH I wonder, how much energy goes into compressing the methane
19:32 GuShH Aren't you spending nearly as much as the methane can provide?
19:32 ShH fr
19:32 Tom_itx co2?
19:32 Tom_itx <useless-afk> and water
19:33 GuShH So now the garage is heavily sprinkled with kittens, I can't do much at all with them roaming around, cat keeps taking them out of the box
19:33 useless-afk some NOx if the temperature is high enough
19:33 GuShH the tanks are very safe, there have been several accidents and the tanks remain intact or vent in a safely manner
19:33 GuShH but it does a number on the engine
19:34 GuShH specially if poorly converted
19:34 GuShH plus you get less power
19:34 GuShH and the range is crap
19:34 GuShH oh and in a small car, means giving up your trunk space.
19:35 GargantuaSauce couple of the new servos arrived
19:35 GargantuaSauce and they fucking rule
19:35 GargantuaSauce i mounted the bracket on one and held it against the table while driving it to oppose the force of my hand
19:35 GargantuaSauce and could barely hold it down
19:35 GargantuaSauce did a number on the surface of the table too
19:36 useless-afk you'll need a drastically stronger frame then
19:36 GargantuaSauce yes that's the plan
19:36 useless-afk and attachment points for the saddle anyhow
19:36 GargantuaSauce no jitter either, the control is either analog or runs at a much higher rate than the control pulses
19:36 GargantuaSauce unlike my current ones which spaz around at 50hz a little
19:37 GargantuaSauce for now the legs can just be the brackets bolted together, and the body just needs to be a strip of aluminium bent into a hexagon
19:39 eless-afk would be afraid if you can bend it, the servoes can
19:41 GuShH rue_house: runout on 3 jaw chuck at half inch from the jaws using the best rod I could find is 0.0275mm or so (I don't own a precision indicator, this is more or less what I can see on the dial )
19:41 GargantuaSauce i'll see if i can find one of those big bendy jigs, the name of which eludes me, to bend 2 or 2.5mm stuff
19:41 useless-afk brake
19:42 GuShH tube bender too
19:42 GuShH for square and round tubing
19:42 GuShH you just need the right dies
19:42 GargantuaSauce and i might make one of the leg sections out of balsa wood or something as an arbitrary point of failure
19:42 GuShH brakes are ideal for sheet metal
19:42 GuShH don't need one for small pieces
19:42 GuShH specially at home...
19:42 GuShH vise and ingenuity work fine for one-offs
19:42 GargantuaSauce yeah i could just stick it in the vise and go to town on it
19:43 GuShH if you make a sliding bracket of sorts, you can get repeatable bends
19:43 GuShH without marking the material
19:43 GuShH or get a heavy duty hinge and cook something up
19:43 GuShH clamps, sturdy work surface... it should work
19:43 GargantuaSauce sliding bracket sounds perfect
19:43 ShH grabs his right kidney and m
19:44 rgantuaSauce aims his phased ultrasound array southw
19:44 GuShH I hear that's got some bad side effects
19:44 GuShH and it hurts like shit.
19:45 GargantuaSauce more or less than the actual kidney stones?
19:45 GuShH Been avoiding all treatment
19:45 GuShH GargantuaSauce: if kidney stones are like tiny stabs, the ultrasound I've been told is like someone kicking you while stabing you.
19:46 GargantuaSauce oh boy
19:51 GargantuaSauce heh this thing will happily max out my bench ps at 3A stalled
19:55 useless-afk one servo will?
19:55 GargantuaSauce yup
19:56 GargantuaSauce not exactly easy to achieve though, theres a big line pressed into my hand now
19:56 useless-afk vice grips
19:58 GargantuaSauce it has niiice beefy brass gears too
19:58 useless-afk how much does one cost?
19:59 GargantuaSauce like 10 bucks
19:59 useless-afk not bad
20:01 GargantuaSauce 12.50 with the bracket, in quantity
20:02 GargantuaSauce definitely the best servo in this form factor i've used
20:03 GargantuaSauce mind you i havent tried the namebrand ones that are 3-5x as much
20:03 GargantuaSauce but somehow i doubt they bring all that much more to the table
20:08 GuShH GargantuaSauce: main difference with the name brand ones is that they should last longer
20:08 GuShH usually higher quality materials
20:08 GuShH the chinks if left alone will skimp in all they can
20:09 orlok less jitter and better resolution for smaller steps
20:09 orlok better pots and smoother feedback loop
20:10 GuShH hah it costs less to run new piping, all done properly than buying a machine to unclog it
20:10 GuShH more or less a third of the cost
22:38 useless-afk anyone know what this chip is ? http://designerthinking.com/images/DSCF3606.jpg
22:40 GargantuaSauce the p/n autocompletes on TI's website but there's no search results O_o
22:43 GargantuaSauce is this another thing you magically have 300 of
22:44 useless-afk no, 2500 of
22:45 useless-afk none of TI's dealers is crossing it to a 74ABT245, which is what it is supposed to be
22:45 useless-afk and neitehr TI or Fairchild's datasheets show a 74ABT16245 being labeled that way
23:55 useless-afk %! % &# $"
23:55 useless-afk NAME RULE A NAME RULE B NAME RULE C
23:56 useless-afk SN74ABT16*** ABT16*** AH***
23:56 useless-afk to make sure you are confused,
23:56 useless-afk SN74AHC*** AHC*** HA***
23:57 useless-afk so ABT16 is sortened to AH, and 74AHC is shortened to HA
