00:38 RifRaf i am so fucking sick of google searches coming up with it or things i said
00:39 RifRaf or at least delete everything i said from it and get it to ignore me
00:39 RifRaf its an invasion of my privacy
00:39 MrCurious i second that motion
00:39 RifRaf or i fucking leave
00:39 Faek Third?
00:40 RifRaf i think that we concur, so Tom_itx turn it off please , or at least learn to use your server and stop google caching it
01:16 rue_shop2 damn, i cant find assembled analog -> pwm boards...
01:24 rue_shop2 http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/circuits/measind/pwm_stikr.gif
01:24 rue_shop2 aha, my cheat sheet
02:02 rue_shop2 slew rate on the 324 sucks capacitor
02:02 rue_shop2 cant use a 339 damn
02:34 rue_shop2 oops, this resistor is dissipating 24V more than I thoguht
02:34 rue_shop2 explains the smoke
02:37 Jak_o_Shadows Indeed.
02:42 rue_shop2 damn, I have to poke in another transistor
03:05 rue_shop2 I need something better thana 78xx based power supply for testing motor drivers
03:05 rue_shop2 I COULD GET MORE POWER OUT OF A SPONGE!
03:05 Jak_o_Shadows more power?
03:05 rue_shop2 MORE POWER!
03:07 Faek More rockets?
03:08 rue_shop2 6KHZ PWM IS DRIVING ME INSANE!
03:13 rue_shop2 damnit, the linear actuator I built the driver for says the motor is 55W, 24V, that should be 3A, as much weight as I can put on it, I can only get it to draw .5A
03:14 MrCurious win?
03:15 rue_shop2 well, its overkill
03:16 rue_shop2 its a pair of 3055 drivers, and a rather elaborate driver board, should handle 3A
03:16 rue_shop2 cant work out a test past .5A
03:16 rue_shop2 but my test supply can only put out 1A anyhow
03:16 rue_shop2 I'll bolt it togethor and call it done
03:18 rue_shop2 lets see, what did I use new
03:18 rue_shop2 2 shottkey diodes from china, about 4c there,
03:18 rue_shop2 bicolour led, 2 pin, that was about 12c
03:18 rue_shop2 oh 14pin dip socket, about 5c
03:18 rue_shop2 oh, china protoboard, 20c
03:19 rue_shop2 oh 2x mps2222 and 2x 2n3906, thats about 48c
03:19 rue_shop2 pin header, uh 14c
03:20 rue_shop2 and a 2 terminal lug, thats 20c
03:20 rue_shop2 rest was scrounged
03:20 rue_shop2 $1.23
03:21 rue_shop2 huh
03:21 rue_shop2 oh, maybe 50c in wire-wrap wire
03:21 rue_shop2 $1.73
03:22 rue_shop2 didn't drink enough tea, 1am and I'm falling asleep
04:00 rue_shop2 I like how this came out
04:01 rue_shop2 I'm annoyed that I could have used WAY smaller transistors
04:02 Jak_o_Shadows That's life.
04:02 Jak_o_Shadows Also, you were going with vacuum cleaner motors for the truck?
04:04 rue_shop2 so far thats the plan
04:05 rue_shop2 80hp of vacuum cleaner mtoors is cheaper than an 80hp electric motor
04:05 rue_shop2 and lighter
04:05 Jak_o_Shadows Wouldn't they be AC motors of some kind? So you'd need extra stuff to drive them from the batteries you're looking for?
04:05 rue_shop2 probably not as efficient, and not as convienient
04:05 rue_shop2 no, they are universal motors
04:05 rue_shop2 they will run just as fast on 90vdc as 120vac
04:05 Jak_o_Shadows Is that a common thing for vacuum cleaner motors, or just the ones you've found?
04:06 rue_shop2 its typical of them yes
04:06 Jak_o_Shadows cool.
04:06 rue_shop2 go ahead, put 12VDC into a vacuum, it'll run (slowly)
04:06 rue_shop2 they are verry good mtoors
04:06 Jak_o_Shadows What sort of gear-system are you planning on using to connect em all?
04:06 rue_shop2 reversing them is a b******
04:06 Jak_o_Shadows lol
04:06 rue_shop2 synchrobelts
04:08 Jak_o_Shadows What, timing belts? How are you going to hook them all up? Have the motors all in a row feeding into one belt (or a couple of rows/belts)?
04:10 Jak_o_Shadows If so, what happens when a motor fails?
04:24 rue_shop2 multiple belts
04:24 rue_shop2 not sure completely on failure modes
04:24 rue_shop2 planning on individual drivers tho
04:24 rue_shop2 35 motor drivers isn't so bad
04:26 rue_shop2 I should make a box for just motor drivers
04:26 rue_shop2 getting quite a collection
04:28 rue_shop2 I'v discovered that the alligator clips I have fit bananna jacks, my bench is rapidly going bananna-jack crazy
04:29 Jak_o_Shadows haha
04:30 Jak_o_Shadows Yeah, the motor drivers is just a hassle, but an easy enough problem.
04:30 Jak_o_Shadows So lets say 5 belts, with 7 motors connected to each.
04:30 Jak_o_Shadows Measure current for each motor and shut off the line when needed?
04:31 rue_shop2 I suspect that the motor driver I used on my hexapod will do nicely for all the projects I just designed a big driver for, so I need to get my pcb etching going again
04:31 rue_shop2 I'm thinking 5 'modules' that have 7 motors each
04:32 rue_shop2 each module being removable
04:32 rue_shop2 what I cant work out is how to house them from environmeltal rifraf
04:35 rue_shop2 oh thats no good, the hexapod drivers use complimentrary pairs, I want all NPN drivers
04:35 Jak_o_Shadows I can see that being a problem.
04:35 rue_shop2 they need airflow too (vacuum motors)
04:36 rue_shop2 ok, do some final schematics here
04:37 rue_shop2 hmm, nowhere in the shop did I put a cieling hook
04:37 rue_shop2 I wonder if I can locate one of the rafter spanners...
04:47 rue_mohr circuit design is spread over... 4 postits
04:47 Jak_o_Shadows Do fix that.
05:04 rue_mohr ok, 6 transistors, 1 chip, 4 leds, 2 diodes, and 14 resistors.
05:04 rue_mohr and a fuse!
06:40 rue_shop2 heh, I start tucking smt parts under thruhole parts and I end up with a pcb thats a 100% grid of pads, a complete mystery on which ones to drill
06:40 rue_shop2 4:30am
06:40 rue_shop2 still somewhat concious
06:41 Faek 9:00pm. Want to sleep
06:41 rue_shop2 putting the fust on this baord is going to double its size, can we just do away with it?
06:41 rue_shop2 fuse
06:57 rue_shop2 datsa tighta circuit boarda!
07:11 GuShH rue_shop2: use a polyfuse dummy!
07:11 GuShH or worst case scenario in hobbo land, a vertical glass or ceramic fuse.
07:12 rue_shop2 hmm I wonder what I have for polyfuses
07:12 GuShH you know, a fusible trace is good enough for most things
07:12 GuShH just saying
07:12 rue_shop2 its funny, every time I design a motor driver for 'mass' production in the shop, I'm always sure its gonna solve all my problems
07:12 rue_shop2 hah
07:12 rue_shop2 fusable trace...
07:12 rue_shop2 5 thou power traces are for university rookies
07:12 GuShH I've seen commercial products with a gap between traces and a thin piece of copper wire soldered between, as fuses.
07:13 rue_shop2 I'll come over and personally beat you with a stick if I ever have to repari one
07:13 rue_shop2 :)
07:13 GuShH wait cat wants to battle
07:14 GuShH I lost.
07:15 rue_shop2 your in charge of mopping up your own blood.
07:15 GuShH rue_shop2: well before or after the beating we could have a bbq
07:15 GuShH my right arm looks like it's been through a train accident, silly cats..
07:16 rue_shop2 the final board is ~ 2"x2.5" discrete bipolar, should be fine for ~4A 30V inputs are dir, pwm, bipolar power supply
07:16 GuShH rue_shop2: anyway depending on the design and power specs you could even look at a separate protection board just for fuses or whatever rocks your boat
07:17 rue_shop2 it should do a descent job of using up shop stock
07:17 GuShH and then just stack them with pin headers, or whatever is appropriate for the current rating
07:17 GuShH 4A is
07:18 rue_shop2 I was actually milling around the shop for a good power header option today, dontlike the idea of pushing more than 1A thru breakaway header
07:18 GuShH they're good for 4A easily
07:18 rue_shop2 I was thinking of using parallel breakaway, but ended up just using some terminal strips I dont like
07:18 GuShH it's not flat, it's square so there's a lot of volume
07:19 rue_shop2 I dont have much .154" header/connectors
07:19 GuShH I think they're mostly rated for 10A but I never checked nor made sure that was correct
07:19 rue_shop2 heh, and a fet can handle 120A :)
07:19 rue_shop2 *1
07:19 GuShH sure in a fraction of a second
07:19 GuShH inrush!
07:20 GuShH sometimes not repetitive
07:20 rue_shop2 I'd like to know what the fusing current of the leads actually is
07:20 GuShH it's like stating "my car can handle a heads on collision with a semi truck" :P
07:20 GuShH forgot to mention: "just once"
07:20 rue_shop2 I suppose my spot welder is 1200A capable
07:20 GuShH well, maybe not.
07:20 GuShH homemade or bought?
07:20 GuShH Always wanted one
07:20 rue_shop2 bought
07:21 rue_shop2 miller! iirc...
07:21 GuShH pliers type or big ass unit
07:21 GuShH I've seen ones that are water cooled, amazing stuff
07:21 rue_shop2 MSW-41
07:21 GuShH of course there's no reason why I should have one
07:21 GuShH but I'll settle for a capacitor discharge unit once I get around to it
07:21 rue_shop2 https://punchout.acklandsgrainger.com/images/items/zoom/11TZ27_AS01.JPG
07:22 rue_shop2 but I have long tongs on mine
07:22 GuShH they must be solid copper if they're talking about 1200A
07:22 rue_shop2 they are
07:22 GuShH do you just sharpen the tips or replace the whole thing
07:22 rue_shop2 I think I have 18" tongs
07:22 rue_shop2 the tips are supposed to unscrew
07:22 rue_shop2 I accidently fused one in
07:22 GuShH hmmm
07:22 GuShH well that's what I was thinking
07:23 rue_shop2 one of those "damnit, thats gonna cost a lot to fix later"
07:23 rue_shop2 have to keep them clean and tight!
07:23 rue_shop2 now I know...
07:23 GuShH but you could chop it off near the edge, drill and tap
07:23 GuShH that's cheap
07:23 GuShH cost: one new tip, or two and have a brand new set on
07:24 GuShH assuming it's a common thread size
07:24 rue_shop2 probably, but the tip in there is still ok, so I did a little braze bridge to help it not get worse
07:24 GuShH or maybe you made it worse :p
07:24 rue_shop2 no!, definitly not
07:24 GuShH what's the input current on this puppy?
07:24 rue_shop2 20A
07:24 GuShH 110?
07:25 rue_shop2 if you have it on a 15A breaker it makes a perfect weld just as the breaker trips
07:25 rue_shop2 120V
07:25 GuShH ah so it'd be very managable on 220
07:25 rue_shop2 not configurable
07:25 GuShH I'm drawing 10A average when stick welding here with 6013 .. about 100A output or so, from a regular outlet on the garage.. until I get around to rewire everything
07:25 GuShH I'm sure they have a 210-240 version
07:26 GuShH It's sad, I have 3 phase but I can't use it until I rewire all the panels
07:26 rue_shop2 I run my welder on 120/20A, I can dial up to about 80A before I trip the breaker
07:27 rue_shop2 miller maxstar sd
07:27 GuShH ok so I didn't state the fact that I got a 10A breaker inline with the outlet, because it is rated 10A (wiring can handle 20) still, the only way to trip it is to dip the rod in deep and weld through about half of it, that's going to draw over 10A for long enough to trip it.
07:27 rue_shop2 I should never be able to kill that thing
07:27 rue_shop2 http://www.weldingsuppliesfromioc.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/m/i/mil903701_3.jpg
07:27 GuShH I don't think you can kill a miller easily
07:28 GuShH I know 'em, just can't afford them here.
07:28 GuShH 5k for a used tig, vintage miller...
07:28 rue_shop2 it can take 3phase 480V, iirc 200A continious
07:28 GuShH but you are using it like a tiny buzz box with that setup
07:29 rue_shop2 yea, largest I do is 60A when I'm using sticks for cutting
07:29 GuShH I mostly weld with 5/64 rods, so that's why I can get away with only 10A input
07:29 GuShH At least I think that's the fractional size... 2mm or so
07:29 rue_shop2 I nee to get the tanks set up for tig
07:30 GuShH Bah I have an oxygen tank I could repurpose for argon, but I need to get it tested first
07:30 GuShH lotta trouble
07:30 rue_shop2 stick drives me nutz
07:30 GuShH then rebuild my manifold and all that.
07:30 GuShH I can stick weld just fine, but I'm a tig guy...
07:30 rue_shop2 hey, you go way back in electronics?
07:30 GuShH more or less
07:30 rue_shop2 there was a colour code for transistor leads, know how it used to go?
07:31 ShH 's problem with tig and mig is cost, local suppliers are
07:31 rue_shop2 I dont have anything that old anymore
07:31 GuShH no, I don't go that way back!
07:31 rue_shop2 :) air enough
07:31 rue_shop2 ^f
07:31 GuShH although I had to deal with old capacitors, color coded
07:31 rue_shop2 I think the colour coded transistor leads were a short lived phase
07:32 GuShH adds cost for not a lot of benefit
07:32 rue_shop2 they would bring all the leads out of the transistor thru one hole, colour coding them was the only way
07:33 GuShH unless you formed them and had a front indicator
07:33 rue_shop2 back in the round can era
07:33 GuShH such as a dot!
07:33 GuShH I doubt my canned germaniums still work
07:33 GuShH always wanted to build something useful with those
07:34 rue_shop2 detector in a crystal
07:34 GuShH bah I'd need to get a proper variable cap then
07:34 GuShH or build one
07:34 rue_shop2 there was an article on hackaday
07:34 rue_shop2 someone made a var cap
07:34 GuShH yeah
07:34 rue_shop2 did a good job too!
07:35 GuShH I think it's the one he built for his son using aluminum flashing
07:35 rue_shop2 I wonder if a 100Mhz crystal would have a high enough Q to tune
07:35 GuShH washers made from the same material and some nuts + rod
07:35 GuShH don't remember if he used acrylic as an insulator or what
07:36 GuShH it's just a lot of work making all those stators etc
07:36 rue_shop2 ther are a few common crystals between 88 and 108
07:36 rue_shop2 oh duh
07:36 rue_shop2 fm
07:36 rue_shop2 heh, i cant remember am freq band
07:36 rue_shop2 some khz
07:36 rue_shop2 :)
07:36 GuShH 1 meg is common
07:36 GuShH around that region
07:37 GuShH or maybe I too can't remember
07:37 ShH is not a ham but he remembers aiming for 1MHz when he built his first AM transmi
07:37 rue_shop2 a crystal, germanium diode, and earpeice?
07:38 GuShH I never tried that, I would build the tank using LC
07:38 GuShH How would it work, you'd load the xtal down
07:38 rue_shop2 hardcore and make a detector from zink oxide (iirc)
07:38 GuShH Tried that....
07:38 GuShH no luck
07:38 rue_shop2 :)
07:38 GuShH and the fumes are not nice.
07:38 GuShH also, don't weld zinc coated steel indoors.
07:38 rue_shop2 how about candle flame amplifier?
07:38 GuShH unless you want to puke all over the shop
07:38 rue_shop2 I know of zink poisoning
07:39 GuShH It's not fun!
07:39 GuShH Hmmm no, how about the cds fet
07:39 rue_shop2 did you see my flame speaker?
07:39 GuShH no
07:39 rue_shop2 oh wel...
07:39 GuShH I've only tried a copper-copper thermocouple and copper-steel
07:39 GuShH melted both of them during testing, hey they can be used for reference...
07:40 rue_shop2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ7tF68RKr8
07:40 madmaxx YouTube Title: flamespeaker.mov Views: 1,264 Length: 0:52 User: ruediger mohr
07:40 GuShH I've only fooled around with plasma speakers
07:40 GuShH And that brings me to "I always wanted to build a big tesla coil but never got around to it"
07:40 rue_shop2 copper-steel has a doubleback temp, evil
07:40 rue_shop2 GuShH, it made noise!
07:41 rue_shop2 you can tell that the bias is all wrong, but it made noise!
07:41 GuShH what do you mean? I was getting a negative voltage depending on where it was just like with the real flame detector
07:41 rue_shop2 ^^^ that video
07:41 rue_shop2 that sound is comming from the flame
07:41 GuShH yes, but I'm talking about the copper-steel thermocouple!
07:42 rue_shop2 I accidently melted the elecrode, serves me for using a cutting torch
07:42 GuShH I could see it sparkling away heh
07:42 GuShH "I'm outta here!"
07:42 rue_shop2 I wasn't looking, so it surprized the hell outa me
07:42 GuShH Can you use the flame for both a triode and speaker?
07:43 rue_shop2 took a second to put it back
07:43 rue_shop2 dunno
07:43 GuShH I've tried using a VFD -display- for a triode
07:43 rue_shop2 I want to make a flame triode
07:43 GuShH not much luck
07:43 GuShH http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aAwyUoawkc
07:43 madmaxx YouTube Title: Flame Triode Amplifier and Oscillator, more experiments. Views: 5,101 Length: 1:38 User: nylesteiner
07:43 rue_shop2 I suspect the impedence of the flame triode is REALLY high, so lots of voltage needed
07:44 GuShH I remember reading the electrons were also available on the top side portion and not just inside the flame
07:46 rue_shop2 why are they heating the filament?
07:46 GuShH needs to be heated to discharge electrons onto the flame
07:46 rue_shop2 its IN the FIRE!
07:47 rue_shop2 I'm sure its hot enough
07:47 GuShH yes but the plate doesn't have to be
07:47 GuShH lol
07:47 rue_shop2 exaclty
07:47 GuShH the electrons kind of flow upstream as well
07:48 GuShH (or maybe they're flowing downstream and I got it backwards, like they did many years ago!)
07:48 rue_shop2 I still side that nobody knows what direction anything is going
07:48 GuShH lol
07:48 rue_shop2 I say it goes + to -, I'm not gonna side on what 'it' is
07:49 rue_shop2 :)
07:49 GuShH well the filament on that experiment is driven by AC
07:49 rue_shop2 you have definitly motivated me to play with that later
07:49 GuShH he's got around 300V potential on the plate
07:49 GuShH dc
07:49 rue_shop2 I'lll have to scratch up a 300V supply
07:50 GuShH easier for me I just rectify mains
07:50 GuShH through a cap, yey for reactance
07:50 rue_shop2 hmm, I have one on every PC smps board ...
07:50 GuShH of course I have a small isolation transformer and that's what I use
07:50 GuShH heh yeah the doubler
07:51 rue_shop2 I have a LARGE box of pc power supplies
07:51 GuShH the "popper" as I call it, because it pops the caps when you switch it to 110 on 220.
07:51 rue_shop2 collected for the transstors to drive washing machine solinoids for the pneumatic muscles of the 12' mecha
07:51 GuShH so fun and yet useless.
07:51 GuShH plus they smell nasty
07:52 GuShH what's in that electrolyte anyway, smells like korean fried food gone bad
07:52 rue_shop2 you ever had a tant. go off?
07:52 GuShH yes
07:52 rue_shop2 INSTANT BURNING AMBERS EVERYWERHE!
07:52 GuShH all kinds of smells were coming from my bench at one point
07:52 rue_shop2 lets play, 'find the fires'
07:52 GuShH that's why it serves to have a miniature fireman.
07:52 rue_shop2 my particular inncodent was 2x rated voltage backwards...
07:53 GuShH I have a jar somewhere with most of the components I've killed in the past
07:53 GuShH for no good reason. the idea was to collect enough to pot them into clear epoxi on a picture frame or something similar
07:54 rue_shop2 cool
07:54 GuShH should ask to see if amee2k ever got around to make his artsy stuff with the dead components... I know I didn't.
07:55 GuShH chances are he traded them for a tail, damn furries.
07:56 rue_shop2 heh heh heh
07:56 ShH wonders if rue_shop2 is secretly a f
07:56 ShH wonders if freenode in genera
07:56 rue_shop2 I think its funny
07:56 GuShH I don't get it
07:57 rue_shop2 I'm gonna see if I can get my pcb station to talk to my plotter again
07:57 GuShH everyone is an animal, technically speaking
07:57 GuShH it's got to be a mental condition.
07:59 GuShH this is just the gift for rifraf http://dx.com/p/fish-everywhere-pocket-pen-style-fishing-rod-and-reel-kit-red-extended-length-90cm-58594
08:04 rue_shop2 I been up all night, its 4am, i cant think straight
08:04 rue_shop2 I dont think I'm even thinking in circles
08:07 rue_shop2 haha I wanna curve trace a candle
08:10 rue_shop2 its 6am and I'm not slept yet
08:14 GuShH rue_shop2: it's 10AM! woke up at 8 or so
08:14 rue_shop2 I been up ...
08:14 rue_shop2 since I woke
08:15 rue_shop2 I found a db9m-db9m crossover cable!
08:16 GuShH yey
08:17 rue_shop2 I'm dizzy
08:34 rue_shop2 ok, its spooling to the buffer on the server nicely...
08:34 rue_shop2 heh, /dev/lp0 is a file...
08:38 rue_shop2 yay! I got my pcb plotter working again
08:39 rue_shop2 both the workstation and server have had major upgrades
08:40 rue_shop2 now if I could just get linux to emulate a usb serial device that dos could emulate a serial port on that I could transfer data faster than 9600 buad!
08:42 rue_shop2 or could I use bluetooth...
08:42 rue_shop2 that would be halarious
09:31 GuShH jeez http://vw.snapon.com/specialtoolsdetail.aspx?itemid=12960003
09:31 GuShH 304 greenies...
09:31 GuShH without the accessories
09:34 GuShH why are torque multipliers so expensive?
10:17 Tom_itx GuShH, first of all it's snapon
10:18 Tom_itx second of all wtf you lookin for vw stuff?
10:19 Tom_itx i got one of their 3/8 drive torque wrenches but i've had it 'forever'
10:19 Tom_itx wish i had a bigger one
10:19 Tom_itx looked at sears and they're just as expensive
10:28 Tom_itx http://www.sears.com/craftsman-1-2-in-dr-digi-click-torque-wrench/p-00913919000P?prdNo=3&blockNo=3&blockType=G3
10:32 GuShH Tom_itx: for lulz I looked up the model number from the vw bentley manual that's why
10:32 GuShH notice the snapon one has a broader range, but anyway these wrenches are good at the middle of their spectrum
10:33 GuShH as you get to the lower or higher end, they derate
10:33 GuShH that's why you need at least 3 for a whole set...
10:33 GuShH bbl changing control arms
10:34 Tom_itx the digital may be more accurate as they can tune them
10:34 Tom_itx not sure, i've never used one
10:34 Tom_itx just the old 'needle' style and the 'clicker' style
10:35 Tom_itx i needed one that was higher than my snapon goes

12:51 rue_bed I can see using a scale + arm to do up to about .. 10cm... 400kg-cm
12:52 rue_bed I went to bed at 6
12:52 rue_bed its 10
12:52 rue_bed 10-6=4, I think
12:52 rue_bed so I need 4 more sleep
12:52 rue_bed that would make it 14:00
12:52 rue_bed wich might also be 2:00
12:53 rue_bed the landfull opens at 12:00
12:53 rue_bed which is in 2 hrs
12:53 rue_bed there are 1 of me, so it will consume 1 me per hour to get to the landfull

12:55 GargantuaSauce_ drugs are bad mkay
12:55 rue_bed its cold
12:56 SquirrelCZECH nah
12:56 SquirrelCZECH just learned method how google automatic cars works
12:56 SquirrelCZECH hmm
12:56 SquirrelCZECH let's learn some more! :D
12:56 SquirrelCZECH it's awesome stuff
12:56 SquirrelCZECH almost like drugs
13:04 chris_99 do they use SLAM?
13:08 GargantuaSauce_ using a big fancy spinning LIDAR
13:09 chris_99 i was thinking the other day whether multiple cars would intefere
13:09 chris_99 with each others laser
13:09 GargantuaSauce_ naively yes but i imagine they have provisions for that
13:10 chris_99 i assume they use some kind of modulation technique with the laser
13:11 GargantuaSauce_ or just good ol' time domain multiplexing
14:05 rue_bed dddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
14:05 rue_bed ddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
14:05 MrCurious lhere kitty
14:05 uehuehue ( -.-) wat.
14:06 MrCurious good kitty. lick his eyeballs kitty
14:06 MrCurious they will be yours when he dies...
14:07 MrCurious ok THATS new.... russia has sent warships to the region
15:07 MrCurious looks like nothing is going down today
15:07 MrCurious or all the publicists have the day off
15:07 GargantuaSauce_ halfassing some new hexapod legs out of mecanno
15:07 GargantuaSauce_ may or may not work out
15:08 MrCurious nice
15:08 MrCurious i want to do something other than just play skyrim today, but so far that doesnt look achievble
15:11 Tom_itx so you came to pester us instead?
15:14 robotustra https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-x-7elrxfa1o/Ts7DggcjjPI/AAAAAAAADyU/IYL8CY8ZG9E/s512/fake%2520bigdata.jpg
15:14 MrCurious pretty much. you nailed it
15:14 huehu
15:15 MrCurious HAH
15:17 GargantuaSauce_ man i should have given up on the idea of using the servo wheels/horns earlier
15:18 GargantuaSauce_ the m3 hole in the middle of the metal spline seems to do the trick just fine
15:18 GargantuaSauce_ and and the servos even have enough torque for me to tighten screws into them
15:21 MrCurious pic GargantuaSauce_ i dont quite follow the m3 hole bit
15:22 MrCurious OH you are skipping the horn/wheel and just attaching leg directly to drive gear
15:24 GargantuaSauce_ ya just using a bolt and a toothed washer
15:29 MrCurious wonder how viable it would be to turn a small 4" plastic butter tub into a flexspline for a harmonic drive by reforming its rim with a toothed template
15:30 MrCurious or perhaps glueing a timing belt to the lip...
15:31 GargantuaSauce_ ive tried forming a couple different types of plastic against a servo spline but none of them seemed strong enough
15:31 GargantuaSauce_ put any real torque into it and the teeth just shear off
15:32 MrCurious ahhh
15:32 MrCurious yeah
15:33 MrCurious ever since robotustra told me about harmonic drive, i am fascinated by it, and my mind cant release it
15:43 Tom_itx they're pretty amazing
15:43 Tom_itx and $$$
15:56 MrCurious must be a way to make them cheap and easy
18:35 MrCurious flexspline from harmonic drive
18:35 MrCurious looks alot like medicine bottle cap (fllexable, with geared teeth)
18:51 MrCurious http://www.projectbiped.com/projects/harmonic-drive
18:51 MrCurious 3d printed harmonic drive
19:03 Tom_itx wonder how well it works
19:12 MrCurious looked ony so so in the video
19:52 MrCurious best price i have seen so far for nano boards... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-USB-Nano-V3-0-ATmega328-5V-Micro-controller-Board-Arduino-compatible-TR-/181202223580?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a307e81dc
20:35 GuShH http://www.federicomauro.eu/11918/1638836/works/famous-guns
20:40 Tom_itx wonder how many don't actually fire anything
23:49 GuShH rue_house: can I use your spot welder?
23:49 GuShH subframe internal nuts on jettas are not welded, they're glued on... OVER THE PAINT...
23:49 GuShH mofos
23:49 GuShH no place to access, would need to drop the subframe
23:49 GuShH hrm
23:50 GuShH I'm contemplating making a hole on the side to gain access to weld the sucker in, at least two tacks... then close it up and weld, but hmm... it's not an easy task, not a lot of space in there.
23:50 GuShH neither is dropping the subframe, as it also has internal nuts like that... god damn germans
23:51 GuShH they're the real cheap ass jews.
23:51 ShH is u
23:51 GuShH check out what this poor guy ended up doing.. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5112639-DIY-Fixing-Subframe-bolt-after-control-arm-bushing-replacement.-General-Steps
23:52 GuShH with the subframe out you get to do a cleaner job, still takes a lot of work though http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=104866
23:53 GuShH it is safe to say.... germans ruined my weekend.
23:54 GuShH something about my luck.
23:54 GuShH did the other side (changed the control arm with new bushings etc) no problems, this other side is possessed.
23:55 GuShH now got the skid plate hovering on an old tyre, mounts everywhere, bolts and nuts everywhere, two front wheels on the ground and one control arm that can't be torqued in because the internal nut was held in by glue over paint, magnific engineering ... I think my cat could do a better job engineering this thing. I'm no mechanical engineer and I can see so many flaws, how come they can't when they designed and revised -multiple times- this thing...
23:56 GuShH and they use the same chassis on so many cars it's not even funny
