00:05 MrCurious hashbrowns
00:48 rue_house ashbrowns, sounds like I cooked it
00:49 MrCurious hehehehe
00:55 rue_house I'm an attentive cook, I pay atention to lots of things while I'm cooking
00:59 MrCurious i am too
01:00 MrCurious i over flip steaks
01:00 MrCurious i never rush an egg
01:00 MrCurious and i really take my time keeying in the time on a microwavev
01:00 rue_house IIrc I once got the lawn mowen, fixed a robot, and built a circuit while cooking a pancake
01:52 MrCurious kim jong un executed his x-gf
01:52 MrCurious did not see that coming
12:06 rue_bed theBear, hey
12:06 uehuehue Hello o/
12:07 rue_bed oo its not pouring rain...
12:07 Tom_itx no work today?
12:07 rue_bed I'm taking today and tuesday off
12:07 rue_bed and monday is a holiday
12:08 Tom_itx it is?
12:08 rue_bed for us
12:08 Tom_itx and us
12:08 Tom_itx but i'm still working
12:08 rue_bed I have some time to heal and rest
12:08 Tom_itx question is... will you?
12:08 rue_bed even tho for me resting may not necissarily mean net healing
12:12 Tom_itx saw your limbs off and replace them with robotic ones
12:17 rue_house MY 5KW UPS JUST WENT BELLY UP
12:17 rue_house FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
12:17 rue_house I need to find out what alarm 13 is
12:23 rue_house damnit, it looks like me sdd decided to go read -only
12:33 rue_house alarm 13: Low ac output voltage
12:33 rue_house WTF!?
12:43 Tom_itx brown out
12:51 rue_house OUTPUT
12:51 MrCurious DONT CALL ME PUT
12:51 rue_house ok, to work on it, I need to shut my machine down again
12:51 rue_house this is part of the redundancy concern I had
12:52 rue_house but this is why I made the cord on the ups breaker panel fit in the ups' power plug
12:53 rue_house and one of the guys from work just called, was called over to a bank that just had a UPS go
12:53 rue_house but thats explainable, they never change their batteries
12:53 rue_house they outsourced their IT, nobody is in charge of ups maintenance
12:57 MrCurious hmmm align wages with corporate proffit
12:57 MrCurious interesting idea
12:57 MrCurious will never fly
13:02 rue_house UPS PROBLEMS DO NOT HELP MY UPTIME
13:03 rue_house they thought that an IT company half way across canada would be suitable for doing their IT tasks
13:03 rue_house and they hired a local computer shop to push reset if they need
13:04 rue_house so, why did my ups fail....
13:04 rue_house I suppose I have to isolate the damn thing to find out
14:47 rue_house ok , bills are paid
14:53 KongfuPanda rue_house, hello (〜 ̄▽ ̄)〜
15:01 rue_house hi
15:29 GuShH ouch... should've put some sleeves on yesterday, now I got welding burns on my arms :(
15:35 chris_99 is that from the UV the spark gives of?
15:39 RifRaf GuShH, thats just silly
15:49 MrCurious i hate UV burns on corneas
15:49 MrCurious RESPECT the UV
15:49 RifRaf anyone looked into home made cnc routers?
15:49 MrCurious do not let laser reflect into remaining eyes
15:50 MrCurious you mean buying linear bearings, lead screws, steppers, couplings, driver boards off ebay, and machining aluminum to bind it all together
15:50 MrCurious yes
15:50 RifRaf sure
15:50 MrCurious robostra has a completed and working and tuned one
15:51 RifRaf have you seen pics
15:51 RifRaf ?
15:51 MrCurious yes
15:51 RifRaf this looks like the kinda thing http://mechmate.com/
15:51 MrCurious of the machine and what it makes
15:51 MrCurious smaller
15:59 GuShH MrCurious: I said arms, doesn't mean I wasn't wearing my helmet
15:59 GuShH it was warm outside
16:01 GuShH RifRaf: I think he's been working on his router for years though
16:03 RifRaf well i don't have years, i might buy the plans today
16:06 MrCurious buy plans.. may as well buy it pre-made
16:07 RifRaf yeah right
16:07 MrCurious would think there are free plans online
16:07 RifRaf i understand the work that has gone into a decent set of plans
16:08 RifRaf yes there are, if you want to cut mdf and foam
16:08 RifRaf to me a $100 investment to have it all detailed is very worth it
16:09 RifRaf you may not value your time
16:16 MrCurious good point
16:24 RifRaf robotustra, what plans did you use for you cnc router? can i see some images please
16:32 MrCurious https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/q71/1186719_739781072718015_932805834_n.jpg
16:32 MrCurious canada has some funny money
16:38 GuShH what's the right term for someone who can't make up his mind over something?
16:38 GuShH RifRaf: he designed it himself
16:38 GuShH I don't know where he is, I'll answer for him in a Russian accent in the meantime
16:39 MrCurious da
16:39 ShH idly spills vodka all over MrCurious' keyb
16:39 MrCurious that better be stolichnoya
16:39 Tom_itx fickled
16:39 ShH stares at theBear snorting it bac
16:39 GuShH I've no clue about vodka brands, sorry.
16:40 MrCurious cant fuck up if you staay with stolies
16:40 GuShH It's all the same crap with more or less impurities to me.
16:40 MrCurious your head will thank you in teh morning
16:40 GuShH I don't drink anymore.
16:41 MrCurious then you need a new vice
16:41 GuShH have you ever heard of a tool brandname called "bahco" over there
16:41 GuShH I need a new vise.
16:41 GuShH http://www.bahco.com/
16:42 GuShH I have issues with these guys.
16:42 MrCurious nope
16:42 MrCurious express your feelings with your wallet!
16:42 GuShH Prices are higher than craftsman, quality is lower than stanley (at least from what you can see -- they are all scratched and dinged up) and yet people swear by them, the hell is going on? do they come pre-loved from the factory?
16:42 MrCurious dont buy crap
16:43 GuShH it's not crap, they are just overrated.
16:44 GuShH MrCurious: what about Heyco?
16:45 GuShH most non professionals don't even know what heyco is
16:45 GuShH specially outside of Europe
16:45 MrCurious its the fishey tools
16:45 GuShH those are bahco
16:46 GuShH they come from a fishing background afaik, from spain
16:47 GuShH You know a company has their connections are aren't worried about reaching to pot addicts when their site hasn't been touched since the late 90s.
16:51 MrCurious does that even make sense
16:51 GuShH it does
16:51 GuShH they manufacture for bmw, benz, etc.
16:51 GuShH they don't need to cater to druggies.
16:51 GuShH and whiney bitchey americans.
16:51 GuShH talking about Heyco.
16:52 MrCurious but think how much money they could make if they did cater to american druggies
16:52 GuShH not really
16:52 GuShH you mostly have to invest it into your legal department and refunds
16:52 GuShH and redesigning your tools coming up with a new line for said druggies
16:52 GuShH to compete with the other names.
16:53 MrCurious what exactly would a re-design to appeal to druggies entail?
16:53 GuShH why bother, they don't have to prove themselves to drugshits.
16:53 GuShH adding gay ass handles, flashy colours, marketing campaigns...
16:53 GuShH going around town in a shitty van with their name on the side
16:53 GuShH you know, silly desperate shit.
16:53 MrCurious are you saying you dont want a wrench with a rainbow rubber coating?
16:54 GuShH I don't do drugs.
16:54 MrCurious i was insnuating you were gay... .aka rainbow
16:54 MrCurious is your eye bothering you?
16:55 MrCurious or is it the uv burn.
16:55 MrCurious i have noticed when you are in pain you lash out at people
16:55 GuShH but you came up with the rainbow not me, I said flashy colours
16:55 GuShH I didn't lash out on anyone in particular
16:55 GuShH just a big group of oxygen wasting scumbags.
16:56 Curious puts GuShH down where he found him and wanders
16:56 MrCurious i have to go waste some O2
16:56 MrCurious god damned plannet aint gonna warm itself...
16:56 hueh
16:57 GuShH uehuehue: go back to brazil!
16:57 uehuehue ( -.-) wat?
16:57 uehuehue que?
16:58 GuShH o.o
16:58 MrCurious he is in pain and in a mean mood just ignore him uehuehue
16:58 GuShH in brazil they laugh like that "uehehe"
16:59 hueh
16:59 ShH slaps uehu
16:59 hueh
16:59 GuShH lol
16:59 uehuehue lel, how's your day going?
17:00 Tom_itx getting better now that it's nearly over
17:00 uehuehue Good to hear.
17:02 MrCurious TGIF
17:02 MrCurious day 2 of 5 dady weekend
17:05 GuShH TGIF?
17:06 uehuehue Thank God It's Friday.
17:06 GuShH MrCurious: You are right I'm hurting (back, not the uv burns) but that's not why I'm pissed off. I got a call, pretty much an hour long... from someone who couldn't decide which type of tool to buy, he was at the store at the time. That's the kind of shit that pisses me off, why do you need to bother others with your tiny problems and impose a solution on them like that? it's not cool.
17:06 GuShH and that's why I brought up some brand names.
17:06 GuShH left out snap-on since they're not imported anymore here
17:07 GuShH (more like strap-on if you want to buy them)
17:07 Tom_itx yeah it's hard for me to get mine serviced since i'm not in that trade anymore
17:07 Tom_itx i gotta carry the broken parts around a while til i find a truck
17:09 Tom_itx GuShH so.. what kind of tool should i get?
17:09 GuShH our equivalent was Inafor, which closed down years ago... they left in a hurry, most of their drop forging moulds and such were, until recently, laying on the ground by the factory.
17:10 GuShH Tom_itx: you don't need advice.
17:10 Tom_itx haha
17:10 Tom_itx what makes you say that?
17:11 GuShH Not from me at least.
17:11 GuShH Hmm even Metabo is gone.
17:11 GuShH I think I saw them a couple times not long ago, but they're gone.
17:12 GuShH http://www.metabo.us/NEW-Battery-pack-with-5-2-Ah.47683.0.html how are they going to support those claims?
17:12 GuShH can I run it over with a truck?
17:13 GuShH and how old is this
17:13 GuShH we'll use rue's truck, they'll never hear us coming
18:05 GuShH ffs
18:05 GuShH Tom_itx: check this out http://gizmodo.com/5790214/evil-knock+off-external-hard-drive-is-far-from-500gb
18:08 Tom_itx that's awesome! where can i get one?
18:17 GuShH Tom_itx: in the nearest china
18:17 GuShH ....I hate this "ebay" site we have, it's complete and utter crap
18:17 GuShH they won't let you impose any conditions or limitations as to who can "purchase"
18:18 GuShH I keep getting purchases from idiots with negative feedback and they never contact, or answer me
18:18 GuShH so I put a note on the auction stating I didn't want anything to do with that kind of people, in return I got a bunch of passive agressive bullshit insults in my inbox
18:18 GuShH .... wish I had 007's license.
18:18 GuShH the full license, not the educational one.
18:18 ShH g
18:28 GuShH it's a big item (pool table) so you can imagine how frustrating it must be to move it outside all the way to the entrance and then find out the guy doesn't want it, even though you had over 10 pictures and a full description of the item.
19:05 rue_house hope you give them bad feedback for that
19:33 GuShH rue_house: it's irrelevant, they use fake accounts just to do that
19:34 GuShH also, close call with the air compressor, I was adding a second fitting on the second outlet from the manifold, added some ptfe tape because I didn't want to force the threads or use a liquid sealer... I'm about to torque it (very slightly just to get it snug) and the male portion of the ball valve cracks
19:35 GuShH it's just 120PSI but if I didn't have my hand on the valve it would've shot across the room
19:35 GuShH I know it's bad practice to touch these things under pressure, but at the same time it cracked because of a design flaw
19:35 GuShH it's not a single piece cast + machined ball valve, it's two pieces and the portion that cracked had 2 threads and was sealed with some sort of adhesive
19:36 GuShH that's where it snapped
19:36 GuShH and, the male portion was sealed with what looks like contact adhesive...
19:36 GuShH it cracked open with minimum torque, I didn't want to stress the manifold, anyway... that's my luck
19:37 GuShH will get stainless steel replacement ball valves, unless you have a better suggestion
19:37 GuShH 1/4 NPT I assume
19:40 Tom_itx mine is brass and has worked for years
19:40 Tom_itx cheapo valve that works better than a good oen
19:40 GuShH Tom_itx: brass too...
19:40 GuShH I'll get a pic
19:40 Tom_itx i won't
19:40 GuShH it's worked for years until I touched it.
19:40 GuShH Tom_itx: It's OK I won't hate you for being lazy
19:40 Tom_itx i got one on the bottom of the tank too
19:41 GuShH I have a solenoid for it, and an on-hold project for an automatic purger but I never got around to it
19:41 GuShH I guess I too am lazy?
19:41 GuShH so it still has the stock manual valve
19:41 Tom_itx it only had about a quart in it or so after a few years of use
19:41 GuShH discussed whether I should purge before starting up, purge on a timely basis or purge after it stops
19:42 Tom_itx but it was plugged up so i had to remove the fittings
19:42 GuShH I'm getting more oil than water after I replaced the oil, maybe I got a bit too much in there, it's hard to judge.
19:42 GuShH the oil was thick and black, so I had to replace it.
19:42 Tom_itx this is an 80gal tank
19:43 GuShH I know you have a big unit, but they're all similar.
19:43 Tom_itx 2 stage
19:43 Tom_itx yeah
19:43 Tom_itx 5hp? i forget
19:43 GuShH some are belt driven, others are direct driven, some have multiple stages, others don't...
19:43 GuShH fittings, etc. it's all the same I believe.
19:43 GuShH I was scared to buy used, because most people never purge the tanks
19:44 GuShH so I got a smaller, new unit.
19:44 GuShH Tom_itx: does it have a soft start or does it dim the lights heh
19:44 GuShH of course the load is relatively low when it starts because it's not directly compressing the air yet
19:44 GuShH but still, 5HP...
19:45 Tom_itx i got a good size relay on it
19:45 Tom_itx oversize but it was used at a good price
19:45 GuShH does it go "kachunk" and make you feel all manly?
19:45 Tom_itx if you're not expecting it it can get ya
19:45 Tom_itx but i'm used to it
19:46 ShH is airless

20:41 GuShH Tom_itx: got around to it here's the male portion http://gushh.net/tmp/dscn3979f.jpg --- the body... http://gushh.net/tmp/dscn3977f.jpg all slightly off center, off focus, off everything. I must be lazy as well. http://gushh.net/tmp/dscn3982f.jpg
20:43 GuShH looks very dirty inside, if it's even brass at all
20:58 Tom_itx it is
20:58 Tom_itx just sheared
21:01 GuShH Tom_itx: I wasn't torquing that much, it failed on a weak point
21:15 robotustra why I can't buy in america multicore teflone wire of 30 gauge?
21:31 GuShH robotustra: because you live in canada
21:32 GuShH MrCurious: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahco
21:55 robotustra GuShH: sure - north america banana republic
22:08 ShH pats robotu
22:09 GuShH what kind of nonsense are you working on now?
22:09 GuShH and why can't you use silicone wire instead
22:10 MrCurious it is how america keeps canada subjugated
22:44 robotustra http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/belnetmon/4964741/304035/304035_original.jpg
22:44 robotustra mashrooms
22:52 Jak_o_Shadows Hmph, you don't need particularly big stepper motors for a reprap eh.
22:52 robotustra NEMA 17 is enouph I guess
22:52 Tom_itx nema17
22:52 robotustra yep
22:53 Tom_itx http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/5pcs-NEMA17-78-Oz-in-CNC-stepper-motor-stepping-motor-1-8A/704350_554160664.html
22:53 Tom_itx those are a preferred one
22:53 RifWorkin Jak_o_Shadows, about done cutting 12 new frames if you want one
22:53 Tom_itx RifWorkin what you RifWorkin on?
22:53 RifWorkin making i3 frames, mass production
22:53 Jak_o_Shadows Well, I was more considering how to use the stepper motors I have for a motorised nerf gun mount, so was more sizing stuff
22:54 Tom_itx RifWorkin, still at the cnc shop?
22:54 RifWorkin yep, came in to spend saturday here
22:55 Tom_itx work workin or play workin?
22:55 RifWorkin for me
22:55 Jak_o_Shadows The steppers I have unfortunately have a 7.5 degree stepping angle.
22:55 RifWorkin bartering these for the parts for finish my reprap farm
22:56 Tom_itx Jak_o_Shadows, that's not so good
22:56 RifWorkin http://imagebin.org/269214
22:56 Jak_o_Shadows Yeah, I know, but for a nerf gun mount it would do. It's not as if they go straight anyway
22:57 GuShH and then once you've got the farm going, you gonna milk 'em?
22:57 Tom_itx RifWorkin, you workin your ball bearing axis into that design?
22:57 RifWorkin yep, try make something usefull with them for money
22:57 Tom_itx yup, seems that's what that whole channel's about
22:57 GuShH like what exactly
22:57 RifWorkin nope, but one of those frames is for it, still no bearings, they got sent back to china :/
22:58 GuShH it takes ages to print, quality isn't professional grade...
22:58 RifWorkin GuShH, dunno, but having the machines seems like a good start
22:58 GuShH sure
22:58 GuShH but you must know
22:58 GuShH you just won't say
22:58 ShH g
22:58 RifWorkin making sloiud ones, all allu and stainless
22:58 RifWorkin solid*
22:58 GargantuaSauce do show us your improved design GuShH
22:58 GuShH GargantuaSauce: you don't get to play that card with me
22:58 Jak_o_Shadows In all though, the stepper motors don't have a heck of torque. I oughta make the the mount, run some calculations, and figure what torque I need.
22:58 GuShH open-bullshit, go waste your time on it.
22:58 Tom_itx RifWorkin, seems you got a good thing goin there
22:59 GuShH I'll watch you sweat.
22:59 GargantuaSauce go sit on an arduino
22:59 GuShH no thanks, that's your job I wouldn't want to see you starve
22:59 RifWorkin Tom_itx, yep, will advertise to make things for people, and if all fails will have some nice machines to sell
22:59 Tom_itx RifWorkin, why don't you like the white ABS?
23:00 Jak_o_Shadows Also looked at lasers, but I'm not 100% sure on legality in australia, and the red 1mW are just so pathetic.
23:00 RifWorkin its very brittle, and seems to look crappy
23:00 GuShH have an academic wacko order the laser for you.
23:00 Tom_itx wrong temp?
23:00 RifWorkin apparently the white is made at the end of the production run
23:00 robotustra need this type of wire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaLymYYloGs
23:00 madmaxx YouTube Title: Equipment Wire - MGTF Views: 105 Length: 2:15 User: ChipDipvideo
23:01 GuShH robotustra: why
23:01 RifWorkin tryed several things, the dude i get it from admitted he hates it as well
23:01 GuShH oh god the russian channel
23:02 GuShH robotustra: if heat proofing is all you need, try silicone.
23:02 robotustra not only
23:02 GuShH that's what we use for the high pressure boilers.
23:02 GuShH they're flexible as well.
23:02 robotustra it's resistant to multiple bending
23:02 Jak_o_Shadows Well, that's definitely an option, I know one :P
23:02 GuShH only problem is once the insulation is cut, it spreads open
23:02 GuShH robotustra: so is silicone.
23:03 Tom_itx i just covered mine with that fiberglass woven stuff in high temp things like hair dryers etc
23:03 robotustra it should be multicore
23:03 GuShH plus you are looking at a different category of wires which not everyone carries
23:03 robotustra it's multilayer teflone
23:03 ShH s
23:03 GuShH you are worse than a brick wall.
23:03 robotustra I had this type of wires in belarus
23:03 robotustra I guess that I can find replacement
23:04 GuShH you had to leave them behind, wouldn't fit in the landing gear of the plane you hopped onto?
23:04 robotustra silicon wire can also work
23:04 GuShH what's silicon wire?
23:04 robotustra I mean silicone insulated wire
23:04 robotustra multicore copper wire
23:04 GuShH they have a different temperature range, but I'm thinking you don't need either.
23:05 robotustra room temperature
23:05 GuShH you don't need either.
23:05 GuShH if you need it to survive constant flexing that's another story
23:05 robotustra I don't care a lot about temperature, all what I need to connect usb camera in the eye of robot
23:05 GuShH and your biggest worry would be on the stress relief on either end.
23:05 robotustra it will move constantly
23:06 robotustra on the frames
23:06 GuShH shit even kynar wire would do
23:06 GuShH you take overkill to a whole new level
23:06 robotustra yep
23:06 GuShH robotustra: use silicone then, but make sure you have enough slack and both ends are dampened
23:07 GuShH and again, this is not for NASA and you are not under a multi million dollar contract, use what you have and quit whining about Canada.
23:07 GuShH jeez!
23:08 GuShH I found a "windshield wiper kit" for about 12 usd, includes pump, water reservoir lots of hoses fittings and whatnot... seems too cheap!
23:08 robotustra GuShH: don't tell me what I have to do and I'll not tell you where to go...
23:08 GuShH ideal for the lathe
23:08 GuShH robotustra: what? you are free to do so
23:08 GuShH I was going to ask if you finished your cooling system
23:08 robotustra I prefer to do things once and in a wile
23:08 GuShH http://img2.mlstatic.com/kit-lavaparabrisa-completo-universal-oferta_MLA-O-92081832_1387.jpg
23:08 robotustra while
23:09 GuShH I don't think they get any cheaper, I wonder if they would last long enough
23:09 GuShH pump is on the other side of the tank
23:09 Jak_o_Shadows One of the nozzles for the windshield wiper spray thing is cclogged, I gotta fix that
23:09 ShH doesn't get who would buy this thing for a veh
23:09 GuShH Jak_o_Shadows: on car?
23:09 GuShH I found it's easier to replace the entire nozzle module...
