00:01 theBear i'm very fond of my tiny screwdrivers, is basically what i'm trying to say
00:01 theBear aww, my shoes got doggy spit on them
00:04 theBear and tiny woodchips everywhere .. maybe i need a quick vacuum
00:06 SleepersTide yeah, I like having the proper screwdrivers for a job, but flatheads are very versatile in a pinch
00:07 theBear mmm, so long as you know how to use 'em.... understanding physics makes so many things in life work more smoothly :)
00:08 MrCurious damnit. my windows restore thumb drive does not work
00:09 theBear huh ? the thing's only a day old !
00:10 Faek I have yet to see a use for statistical thermodynamics in real life. Granted i've only been doing it for a couple of weeks though
00:11 theBear i said physics, not thermodynamics :)
00:12 MrCurious resetting it now. may be on the mend
00:13 Faek It's a physics course - Classical Physics 2, i expect the next topic in a few weeks - rotational mechanics to have a higher likelihood of being used in real life
00:34 MrCurious i wonder if a usb 3.0 can run multiple usb cameras at full speed
00:40 theBear wonder if there are any usb3 camera chips yet
00:42 theBear actually, thermodynamics, that one is useful, stuff like cooking and adjusting the shower temp and keeping the house warm/cool without needing lots of aircon/heating
00:42 theBear oh, and of course soldering
00:42 MrCurious seems usb 2.0 is synchronous, and 3.0 is async with 10x the bandwidth
00:42 Faek Ah yes but statistical thermo? Oscillators and entropy and really big number
00:42 SleepersTide` MrCurious: seems the obvious answer is that it depends on what cameras you use
00:43 theBear i dunno what statistical means, i was hoping you wouldn't bring it up <grin>
00:43 theBear i didn't think of it at all when you said thermodynamics cos i never got schooled that high in physics :)
00:43 Jak_o_Shadows Yeah, i sometimes file down flatheads, don't know how we'll it'd work here
00:44 theBear for me the filing is more about squaring off damaged tips than resizing, but if i'm really desperate i'll resize one of the 'crappy' ones
00:44 MrCurious the moment of truth... does windows start...
00:44 Faek Haha. At the moment it means stuff with oscillators and entropy and defining temperature in a certain way
00:44 Faek Do you want a drum roll MrCurious ?
00:44 MrCurious yes!
00:45 MrCurious works
00:45 Faek http://instantrimshot.com/classic/?sound=drumroll
00:45 theBear huh, like pids and associated prediction kinda stuff, but only for temperatures ? thatsounds kinda, like a waste of a subject.. that stuff is easily learned in math-land and then applicable to anything, including your regular thermodynamics course
00:46 Faek It's quite different than any maths course i have done. More applied than recent ones
00:48 theBear yeah, but what i'm saying is yer gonna do basic thermodynamics seperately anyway, and the statistical stuff is more useful as a concept that can be applied to many things
00:50 Faek Ah
00:50 Faek Most of my thermodynamics has been with an eye to the statistical now that i think back on it
00:52 SleepersTide` oh yeah
00:52 SleepersTide` did y'all see this? : http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/254449872/pixy-cmucam5-a-fast-easy-to-use-vision-sensor
00:52 MrCurious quantum thermodynamics?
00:52 SleepersTide` cheap(ish) easy-to-use machine vision
00:53 theBear SleepersTide`, hmm, very interesting
00:53 MrCurious nice
00:54 SleepersTide` yeah, I can think of plenty of neat things to do with some of those
01:06 R0b0t1 Statistical thermodynamics
01:06 R0b0t1 for when you desire to bash your head against a wall harder than normal
01:18 Jak_o_Shadows To be honest, that's true for most things with "statistical" in front of them.
01:18 rue_shop2 arg, I tried to use a 556 for a timing application
01:18 rue_shop2 why didn't I just use a tiny13?
01:19 RifRaf or an egg timer with sand in it
01:25 Jak_o_Android I like tgat kickstarter, because the robot had humour
01:26 theBear 'cos yer a dinosaur <grin>
01:32 rue_shop2 I'm trying to do __--__--__--______--__--__--______--__--__--______
01:32 rue_shop2 so one timer resets the other
01:32 rue_shop2 but it dosn't work cause there is a startup delay on the controlled timer
01:33 rue_shop2 so I get ____----__--______----__--______----__--____
01:34 theBear hmmmm, juggle your r-c's ...
01:35 theBear or chop the 2nd one with a fet
01:35 theBear heck, transistor woud do for low current and on/off
01:35 rue_shop2 I cant stop the timer without a startup delay
01:36 rue_shop2 I'm thinking 555 and 4017
01:36 theBear who the what ? ok, so ignore my first idea, use the 2nd
01:38 rue_shop2 .5on .5off .5on .5off .5on 1.5off
01:38 theBear dude ! i can't think that hard this year !
01:38 rue_shop2 4017 resets on 9
01:39 rue_shop2 with dodes from 1, 3, 5 to operate bell
01:39 theBear oh, counter, that does kinda sound sensible
01:40 theBear still, i think a assymetrical timer/saw wave and a transistor would work with the 555's (asym 'cos 5 * .5's doesn't = 1.5)
01:41 theBear wait saw, triangle ? whatever makes a 555 do stuff
01:41 rue_shop2 its lopsided triagle
01:41 theBear i never liked 'em, just seems too many external components when you got a whole chip on your side
01:42 theBear oh i see, with 2 timers free-running sync would be an issue, but maybe a diode somewhere to sync one end of the long-timer cycle, something like that
01:43 theBear just use attiny you'd be done by now <grin>
01:44 rue_shop2 from a binary counter, /A and B and C works, would trigger on 2, 4, 6
01:45 rue_shop2 I'd prolly still be playing with delay loops and 5V regulators
01:47 Jak_o_Android main reason I'm using the arduino port on the msp430 is because I canvt be assed figuring out how to do a proper delay
01:47 rue_shop2 if I could do it easily with a binary counter, I could use a 4024(?) thats built in osc and counter
01:59 rue_shop2 I think the 5Ah china li-ion will come out to about 1.2Ah
02:49 rue_shop2 opened one, this is interesting
02:58 rue_shop2 !!!!!!!!!!!!! positivly NO pcb, this is a raw li-ion cell!
02:59 rue_shop2 case states: short circuit, over charge, and discharge protection; pcb life is around 10 years
02:59 rue_shop2 hah
03:04 Jak_o_Android well, better to find out now
03:05 rue_shop2 this is kinda cool, I want to use these in my truck
03:05 rue_shop2 this means I dont ahve to worries about circuit boards with series voltage limits
03:06 rue_shop2 I was worried that, with 100V of cells, if one of the protection boards tried to open the circuit it would instantly explode
03:06 rue_shop2 BUT, the capacity shortage sucks
03:07 rue_shop2 I have to run the chart to see what I got, pretty sure its about 1Ah
03:23 rue_shop2 ebay deleted all traces of me having bought those batteries
03:26 RifRaf you probly got from somewhere else like ali express
03:27 rue_house http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370812730210
03:27 rue_house nope those are them, I have the email
03:27 rue_house but its not in any of my ebay lists anymore, I been keeping emails cause I notice ebay leaks things
03:28 rue_house they have no internal protection
03:29 rue_house but they aren't 4.9Ah
03:31 RifRaf yeah i have some of then, seems to depend on what you pay, some are just labels on crap
03:31 RifRaf they work good in the supertorch
03:32 rue_house it put out a lot of power
03:32 rue_house for a ~10g battery
03:32 RifRaf any you didn't pay much so you'd have crap ones
03:32 RifRaf i have 1800maH ones that are better than the 3000mA ones
03:33 rue_house I just measured the capacity
03:33 RifRaf how would they pack 5A into that size pack anyway :/
03:33 rue_house I dont care what they say they are, I just need to know so I know if they are the best deal for making an electric truck
03:33 RifRaf you need an rc car battery pack for that, have some of them too and they really are 5A
03:33 RifRaf a truck with $2 batterys :/
03:34 RifRaf maybe the interior light
03:34 rue_house hell no, I can get them cheaper than that
03:34 rue_house but I wanted to check them out
03:34 RifRaf am sure you can
03:37 RifRaf rue_house, did you hook up your printer yet?
03:37 RifRaf looks like you were very close from the images
03:40 rue_house working on something else just now
03:40 rue_house wtf, dyndns remove my account?
03:40 rue_house again?
03:40 RifRaf pay
03:40 RifRaf is opnly a couple of dollars a year
03:42 rue_house did they just change it!?
03:43 RifRaf i paid ages ago to stop that happening, now all i need to a webserver again
03:44 rue_house wtf, did they say they were gonna do this?
03:45 RifRaf did you ever log in?
03:45 rue_house I got a problem, I dont remember the IP of the webserver with all my stuff on it
03:45 rue_house no I didn't
03:45 rue_house why would I?
03:46 RifRaf i should rent some space on your server so i can use the domain again
03:46 RifRaf don't want more than 1 pc running here anymore
03:47 rue_house its not mine
03:47 rue_house its furrywolfs
03:47 rue_house and I dont know its IP
03:48 rue_house yup, they deleted my damn records
03:48 RifRaf yep they do that
03:49 RifRaf i have lost all motivation to make things
03:49 rue_house I wonder if I can put this togethor again
03:49 RifRaf nothing printed in days, hooked up 1 led today to a boost convertor :/
03:49 rue_house RifRaf, sit back and watch tv for a few months
03:49 rue_house this happens to you
03:50 RifRaf don't watch tv except when i sleep
03:50 RifRaf might watch another movie again
03:50 RifRaf i sold a frame today though :) , first thing i have sold in years
03:52 RifRaf think its from no weed, brain cannot not focus anymore, but i have a clean house for a change
03:52 rue_house I wonder where I can find a cache of that IP address
03:57 RifRaf knew someone would like these colours http://imagebin.org/267664
03:58 rue_house how the hell do I find the ip address
03:59 RifRaf ask furry?
03:59 RifRaf or ping one of his domains if you know one
04:13 rue_house haha the site is archived ont eh wayback machine
04:36 rue_house oh I think its back
04:36 RifRaf what site?
04:36 rue_house yay!
04:36 rue_house http;//eds.dyndns.org
04:36 zoplrdb ( ^_^)
04:37 zoplrdb (^_^ )
04:37 zoplrdb How is everyone today?
04:37 RifRaf yep working
04:38 RifRaf with a colon, not a semi colon though
04:38 rue_house :) thanks
04:38 zoplrdb What is that site?
04:39 rue_house its all my info
04:39 zoplrdb Ah, ok
04:39 rue_house browse, your sure to learn things
04:39 zoplrdb I'm having a look atm
04:40 rue_house http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/images/li-ion.png
04:40 rue_house and THERE is the li-ion discharge curve for that battery
04:41 zoplrdb What program do you use for modelling circuits?
04:41 rue_house I dont model them
04:41 rue_house that dosn't work
04:42 zoplrdb http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/circuits/beacon.png
04:42 zoplrdb Like that
04:42 rue_house 1.3Ah on the nose
04:42 zoplrdb s/modelling/designing/
04:42 RifRaf eagle
04:42 rue_house yea, eagle
04:42 rue_house it draws nice, thats about it
04:43 rue_house ok! is a 1.3Ah li-ion a good or bad deal at $1.95!?
04:43 RifRaf seems ok
04:44 zoplrdb Is there anything similar to eagle on linux?
04:44 theBear err, eagle ?
04:44 RifRaf yes eagle
04:45 theBear or is that TOO similar perhaps ?
04:45 theBear "look a series of 7 identical castles !" "each one more identical than the last !"
04:46 rue_house I use linux
04:46 theBear well good for you big feller :
04:46 theBear :)
04:46 rue_house so its a 1.3Ah battery
04:46 rue_house I'm happy to know
04:47 rue_house see the chart?
04:47 rue_house http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/images/li-ion.png
04:47 rue_house 4hrs, at .25A is 1.3Ah
04:47 RifRaf what did you charge it with?
04:47 theBear i'm happy about it too
04:48 rue_house I have a LM317 based charger I made off internet schematics
04:48 RifRaf my charger tells me how much it fed in during a charge
04:49 theBear http://wafflesatnoon.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/iphone-microwave.jpg i woulda done this, if i had one
04:49 RifRaf and has a discharge cycle that would tell you how much it discharged
04:49 rue_house I'll try another one at .06A, which should give me 20hrs
04:50 RifRaf i think those batteries work better at a fast rate, try 1A
04:51 RifRaf 0.06A won't do much to drive your truck
04:51 rue_house no, buts its an accurate 20hr rate test
04:51 theBear pfft, next you'll be telling him it's impractical to use 400 tiny rc engines to drive it !
04:51 theBear always naysaying !
04:51 theBear <grin>
04:52 RifRaf heh
04:52 rue_house batteries are measured for 20 hr rates, if you draw faster than C/20, the capacity is lower
04:52 rue_house http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Big-Discount-Free-Shipping-10PCS-LOT-ultrafire-Brand-18650-3-7V-Rechargeable-Battery-5000mAh-for-LED/928994406.html
04:52 rue_house now I know they are 1.3Ah
04:52 theBear are there actually any batteries that 'work better' with more rapid charging ?
04:53 RifRaf assuming your charger fully charged it
04:53 theBear fully bro, sic charge eh !
04:53 zoplrdb Eagle is quite expensive
04:53 zoplrdb Did you buy a copy, or do you use the freeware version?
04:53 theBear only if you wanna make boards bigger than your hand
04:53 rue_house RifRaf, 4.16V
04:53 rue_house close enough for me
04:54 theBear i bought one when i used it in a workplace where i was employed (well ordered it and made them pay, i was only employed :) but i used the free one for many years for hobby stuff
04:54 RifRaf i think you need to test more than 1 cell, could be a dud
04:54 rue_house pretty sure its not
04:54 rue_house its just a chinese label
04:54 theBear they make it quite clear (at least cadsoft did when they owned it, not checked recently) that it's free for personal use below the size limit
04:54 rue_house chinese are small, they ahve small Ah
04:54 rue_house 4.9 chinese Ah = 1.3 American Ah
04:55 theBear lol, and small meters of cable, and small components :)
04:55 rue_house :)
04:57 rue_house see, going from 5Ah to 1.3Ah means the trucks pack cost goes from $1231 to $5232
04:59 RifRaf thats alot of robots at $20 each
04:59 RifRaf why not buy some huge lipos instead, should be lots cheaper
05:00 rue_house http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-1pcs-11-1V-25C-2200mAh-RC-Lipo-Battery-For-Belt-CP-V2-Align-450/555857022.html
05:00 rue_house the design goal is 600V that can sustain 100A total of 12 to 14kwh
05:20 RifRaf what motor are you going to use?
05:56 SquirrelCZECH wow
05:57 SquirrelCZECH is there anybody who have some knowledge about these 3d mouses? :-)
05:57 uirrelCZECH just fell in love with SpaceNavigator th
05:57 SquirrelCZECH but it last until I saw prize :-/
05:59 uirrelCZECH started to think how to build it afterwards
06:01 zoplrdb *mice
06:01 zoplrdb If the plural for mouse is mice, is the plural for house hice?
06:02 SquirrelCZECH O:-)
06:06 zoplrdb What does #robotics think of the arrl handbook?
06:08 rue_house good book, more complete than getting started by forrest mimms III
06:08 zoplrdb What about "lessons in electric circuits"?
06:08 rue_house never heard
06:09 zoplrdb Is the arrl handbook good for general electronics, or is it only good for radio related things?
06:12 rue_house they do a good job of covering the basicas, I'v not seen a really completel and practical book
06:12 rue_house getting started in electronics is pretty close
06:14 KongfuPanda hi robotics dudes
06:14 Jak_o_Shadows hi
06:14 KongfuPanda :)
06:14 zoplrdb Hello
06:14 KongfuPanda I was just thinking and realized I would like to do an automated greenhouse at some point, solar powered
06:15 KongfuPanda and grow some plants inside etc
06:15 Hukka Yes, plants are solar power and grow automatically!
06:15 Hukka *powerED
06:16 KongfuPanda you know what I mean :)
06:16 kka whis
06:34 SleepersTide KongfuPanda: funny, I was just shopping for solar cells on ebay
06:36 KongfuPanda SleepersTide, what for?
06:37 zoplrdb His greenhosue
06:37 zoplrdb *house
06:37 KongfuPanda oo, he has a greenhouse
06:39 KongfuPanda is it automated?
06:39 zoplrdb You missed the joke by a few miles.
06:40 KongfuPanda I guess you can put like a big contained of water with a tube over the greenhouse and use something to open the flow in a controller way
06:40 KongfuPanda or get an aerosol units and generate steam if you want
06:41 plrdb wants to make food but it's too early to
06:41 zoplrdb :<
06:42 Hukka Having a ramadan?
06:42 zoplrdb lel, no.
06:42 zoplrdb Usually eat at 4, it's only 2:20 atm.
06:42 zoplrdb 2:30*
06:43 SleepersTide KongfuPanda: it's for my greenhorse :P
06:43 zoplrdb Hukka, What are you up to?
06:43 plrdb needs to go library la
06:43 KongfuPanda SleepersTide, what is it for?
06:44 zoplrdb Need to take out "The design and implementation of the 4.4BSD system"
06:44 SleepersTide it's actually for mesh-networked garden lights
06:44 KongfuPanda SleepersTide, cool
06:50 Hukka zoplrdb: Checking nexus 7 prices, but still nothing
06:50 Hukka Maybe I'll just import
08:19 SquirrelCZECH hmm
08:19 SquirrelCZECH there is the thing, I should use standart RC Plane controller with high range
08:20 SquirrelCZECH without all what I need... (need 5 axis of controll :-/)
08:20 SquirrelCZECH or buy zibgee modules, made my own controller, with all buttons and axis I need
08:20 SquirrelCZECH but only 120m range :-/
08:21 SquirrelCZECH (that's what spec says, maybe better antenna could improve it :-/) P.S: for RC Airship
08:31 SleepersTide SquirrelCZECH: does it need to be computer-controlled at any point?
08:31 SquirrelCZECH SleepersTide: it's not like it HAVE to be
08:31 SquirrelCZECH but!
08:31 SquirrelCZECH it's one of the way it could be controlled :-/
08:31 SquirrelCZECH SleepersTide: not yet, but at some point yes
08:32 SleepersTide well, I think standard radio gear is a cheaper option if you just need to be able to fly it around manually
08:32 uirrelCZECH is just using one from his fathers airp
08:32 SleepersTide this is a good cheap set: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8991__Turnigy_9X_9Ch_Transmitter_w_Module_8ch_Receiver_Mode_1_v2_Firmware_.html
08:32 SquirrelCZECH and we wanted to buy same thing for future
08:33 SleepersTide 9-channel transmitter, comes with an 8-channel receiver
08:33 SquirrelCZECH SleepersTide: thing is, that I need 5 axis of controll :-/
08:33 SleepersTide that thing does 8
08:33 SleepersTide oh, 5 axis?
08:33 SquirrelCZECH yep
08:34 SleepersTide well, you've got up/down and left/right on each stick, so that's 4
08:34 SleepersTide and then there are some knobs
08:34 SquirrelCZECH up/down, front/back, pitch, yaw, roll
08:34 SquirrelCZECH that is what the airship is capable of
08:35 SquirrelCZECH up/down, front/back, yaw for basic controll
08:35 SquirrelCZECH pitch, roll for stabilization and advanced controll
08:39 SquirrelCZECH SleepersTide: that's the reason why I got interested in SpaceNavigator :D it got 6 axis of freedom, which is nice :-)
08:40 SquirrelCZECH on the other hand price is too much high, so... :-/
08:40 SquirrelCZECH anyway, I should be able to fly with standart RC Controller somehow, but I want to move to better solution afterwards
08:41 SleepersTide you could try mixing yaw and roll together
08:42 SquirrelCZECH hmm
08:42 SleepersTide well, anyway, on that transmitter, you can use the three knobs to control channels
08:42 SleepersTide but like the throttle, they don't snap back to the center when you let go
08:43 SquirrelCZECH SleepersTide: just know I've got 5 channel rc controller and I want to use fifth channel to switch roll/yaw :-)
08:43 SquirrelCZECH *just now
08:43 SquirrelCZECH afk! :-)
08:43 SquirrelCZECH SleepersTide: yes, I "can use" but I will investigate about better solution.... "can use" is just not enough :-/
12:21 hackman127 rue_bed, rue_shop2, rue_house, just shot you a message!
13:24 yahweh Hey RUe, you around?
13:24 yahweh Rue rue, I'm looking for you
14:21 ShH s
14:26 GuShH got the knurling wheels, they're the wrong size.. as usual.
14:27 GuShH but in this case I can't head over to the store - in China -
14:27 GuShH diameter is correct, the pitch is twice as big though.
14:27 GuShH knurling for apes at 2mm...
14:27 MrCurious making an extruder?
14:28 GuShH interesting, too bad it's costly and nowhere to be found http://www.youtube.com/user/JooltoolUSA/videos
14:28 GuShH MrCurious: no?
14:28 GuShH for knurling aluminum on a lathe
14:28 MrCurious oh!
14:28 GuShH they're hss, I guess you could knurl mild steel on a pinch but surely they wouldn't last very long
14:28 GuShH do the extruder-riprapfapfap guys use these ?
14:28 GuShH or just a worm gear
14:29 GuShH So to rephrase, diamond knurl wheels (pair)
14:29 GuShH At 100 bucks for the holder, I'll make my own eventually.
14:44 MrCurious knurled wheel extruder
14:44 MrCurious so i guess, YES they do use a similarly named item
14:48 GuShH but in their case they're mix-matching things from the hardware store and I'm making them?
14:49 MrCurious i didnt assert anything about that
14:51 GuShH In a way you did...
14:51 ShH pats MrCur
14:53 MrCurious you are imagining things
14:53 MrCurious i merely heard you say knurled and asked if you were making an extruder
15:12 GuShH MrCurious: no, go take your meds.
15:12 ShH shakes
15:12 MrCurious get off my lawn!
15:12 GuShH ITS MY LAWN
15:13 GuShH 6.5mm ... I guess that's nearly 1/4 inch?
15:14 GuShH no that's 6.35!
15:14 GuShH the hell.
15:14 GuShH who uses 6.5mm anything
15:14 MrCurious going to guess YOU do
15:15 MrCurious did you not read the specs before ordering?
15:15 GuShH no such thing
15:15 GuShH it's OK.
16:03 GuShH bah mode selector on the drill is bust
16:04 GuShH now it's always in "hammer" mode, who makes a lock bushing out of plastic
16:11 robotustra GuShH: http://picpaste.com/IMG_6160-P5Xjt2Pp.JPG
16:18 MrCurious looks like your z is not perfect perpendicular...
16:22 GuShH robotustra : 70-80s drill still shows up http://www.mtmc.co.uk/Black--Decker-D206-Type-1-Hammer-Drill-Spare-Parts__p-55331.aspx of course no spare parts
16:22 GuShH dipshits replaced the names of the parts with "no longer available" making the entire diagram useless
16:23 GuShH you know, aside from a bad bearing and the lock bushing it's all fine
16:23 GuShH new drills are shit by comparison unless you buy the professional dewalt, etc.
16:24 ShH can't stand cordless
16:24 GuShH they're needy like a baby.
16:24 GuShH MrCurious: you think so? maybe it's an optical illusion
16:25 robotustra MrCurious: it's enoupth perpendicular
16:25 GuShH he uses toy-sized endmills and they create lots of patterns
16:25 robotustra yes
16:25 robotustra and the system is not so rigid
16:25 GuShH also that's a tiny part
16:25 robotustra yep
16:25 robotustra I'm withing 0.05mm
16:26 GuShH it would be better if you show an AA cell next to it or a ruler for size reference :p
16:26 robotustra within
16:26 GuShH now let me crush the part with my thumb
16:26 robotustra it's 28x28 mm
16:27 robotustra crush your eye with your thumb first
16:27 GuShH no.
16:28 GuShH bah bah bah! I don't want to buy a new drill... why!
16:28 robotustra you are panished with god
16:28 robotustra or with aliens
16:28 GuShH punished
16:28 GuShH by god
16:28 GuShH by aliens
16:28 robotustra ok
16:28 GuShH no, I don't think so
16:28 GuShH aliens would love me
16:28 GuShH we're aliens anyway
16:29 GuShH not as per the definition of the word, but we sure come from somewhere else!
16:29 GuShH I can't see the thrust bearing here... but I can see it in real life http://www.mtmc.co.uk/Images/Products/55331/01_583.GIF
16:29 GuShH maybe the proportions are not right
16:29 GuShH number 24 would be one of them
16:30 GuShH 14 and 15 ought to be washers, or maybe the french couldn't draw bearings? I need to take it apart, but I can't grip the chuck shaft to remove the chuck so far
16:30 GuShH and I don't want to damage the shaft since it sits on a bushing.
16:31 GuShH the gearbox looks intact
16:31 MrCurious nice touch screen on ubuntu "just works"
16:32 GuShH MrCurious: you'll wish your CNC to be as good as robotustra's
16:32 GuShH cnc mill*
16:32 GuShH credit where credit is due!
16:33 GuShH oh there, number 20 is the lower thrust bearing
16:37 RifRaf GuShH, you know this place? http://impresora3dprinter.com/
16:39 GuShH no
16:41 RifRaf dunno if they might have parts, one of your countryment is in reprap wanting to start selling them, but has not made a printer yet
16:42 RifRaf he does cornfirm the crazy prices you speak of though
16:45 SquirrelCZECH hmm
16:45 uirrelCZECH just do not
16:45 SquirrelCZECH I spend last days designing parts for something, or more like the construction
16:46 SquirrelCZECH and I wonder... I do not have even single piece of knowledge about construction, mechanics from school/studying
16:47 SquirrelCZECH everything is just "logic", experience with RC Cars, and some help from more experienced people
16:47 SquirrelCZECH and my fantasy....
16:47 uirrelCZECH have to try some of these books about mechanics and construc
16:47 SquirrelCZECH buy, read, decide if I should continue learning by books or by practice :-)
16:48 RifRaf practice
16:48 SquirrelCZECH RifRaf: I know that practice is good in this thing
16:48 SquirrelCZECH but, it's not like world is black/white
16:49 RifRaf nothing better than making and breaking to see how your ideas work in reality
16:49 SquirrelCZECH more like practice/theory in this tam :-)
16:49 SquirrelCZECH *in this one
16:49 SquirrelCZECH RifRaf: I know
16:49 SquirrelCZECH but sometimes (And in mechanics and making parts I believe only sometimes) there are things
16:50 SquirrelCZECH that would cost you years until you found out the truth
16:50 SquirrelCZECH while it can be on some page in clever book
16:50 SquirrelCZECH but truth is that these kind of books are rare .... and this happen mostly in advanced things :-/
16:52 GuShH RifRaf: oh so the prices had to be confirmed? my word is not good enough?!
16:53 ShH slams the door shut and runs to his
16:53 SquirrelCZECH GuShH: words are words
16:53 GuShH SquirrelCZECH: I don't lie!
16:53 RifRaf GuShH, no not that, i was trying to see if he might have a better source for you
16:53 GuShH lol
16:53 SquirrelCZECH GuShH: it's just the thing: "Can I believe these few bytes that comes from that cable?" ? :-)
16:53 GuShH maybe it comes from the air
16:54 GuShH SquirrelCZECH: I have no need to make things up...
16:54 SquirrelCZECH GuShH: I didn't said that! :D
16:54 SquirrelCZECH GuShH: just wrote what paranoid one can thing
16:54 SquirrelCZECH *think
16:54 GuShH also is DUF a known brand of bearings... or just another generic
16:55 GuShH or is it a type of bearing
16:55 ShH fr
16:55 RifRaf never heard of em, is all skf here for decent bearings
16:55 GuShH yeah I got italian SKF (dated 2002 though)
16:55 GuShH the original only says DUF
16:56 xp_prg2 hi all, does anyone have any experience with kalman filters?
16:56 GuShH skf explorer, whatever that means.
17:00 GuShH RifRaf: there's hardly any money to be made here selling these printers
17:00 GuShH otherwise I would've been more interested in them from the beginning.
17:00 RifRaf yep that was the general concencus
17:09 SquirrelCZECH hmm
17:09 SquirrelCZECH bearings you say?
17:09 uirrelCZECH got quet a high quality ones, but he is not the who buys them, so he doesn't even know what they
17:10 GuShH heh
17:11 SquirrelCZECH it works, I do not care :D
17:11 GuShH you just bought them to stare at? :p
17:11 SquirrelCZECH no, my father boughts them
17:11 SquirrelCZECH and we use them in RC Cars
17:11 GuShH oh, relatively small ones
17:11 GuShH 608 or smaller
17:11 SquirrelCZECH (it's a pain in a ass, because they got "dirty" really fast)
17:11 SquirrelCZECH ye[
17:11 GuShH use double rubber seal ones then
17:11 GuShH don't use metal shielded
17:12 GuShH or unshielded
17:12 SquirrelCZECH GuShH: not helping :D
17:12 GuShH it should
17:12 SquirrelCZECH I've got that black plastic ring
17:12 GuShH ?
17:12 SquirrelCZECH GuShH: there is plastic ring as cover on every one
17:12 SquirrelCZECH from both sides
17:12 GuShH get rubber ones
17:12 GuShH the rubber shields are waterproof to an extent
17:12 GuShH and if rust is an issue get stainless steel bearings
17:13 SquirrelCZECH it's OK with asfalt, there is only dust
17:13 GuShH and if it's still getting dirty, there's a fundamental design flaw.
17:13 SquirrelCZECH but on carpet, there is problem with carpet's hair
17:13 GuShH other than that, all bearings wear.
17:13 GuShH can't find anything useful on youtube wrt old drill chucks
17:14 uirrelCZECH usually changes bearings in front wheels of his car two times per a day
17:14 GuShH these don't have a screw in the middle and no slots to grab 'em either
17:14 GuShH I don't have an impact wrench either
17:14 GuShH the arbor is case hardened, I can't grab ahold of it without causing damage
17:14 GuShH sigh.
18:30 RifRaf SquirrelCZECH, how do you figure your bearings are high quality if they are unmarked and you need to replace then twice a day??
18:30 RifRaf used to race for many weeks before changing wheel bearings
18:40 GuShH RifRaf: lol
18:40 GuShH because he pays them as high quality..
18:41 GuShH I sense design flaw or bearing shop scam!
18:43 Tom_itx ceramic abec 7 bearings ftw
18:51 theBear plastic seals on bearings ? that ain't a sign of quality
21:02 RifRaf started doing something again http://imagebin.org/267975
21:08 GuShH RifRaf: is the frame riveted?
21:08 GuShH or are those torx
21:09 RifRaf 2mm hex , m4 botls
21:09 GuShH on the vertical frame
21:10 RifRaf yep, standard panhead bolts with that need hex driver instead of philips to tighten
21:10 RifRaf is an M4 nylock on back of each one
21:11 GuShH why no lock washers?
21:11 GuShH I see a lot of double nuts instead
21:11 RifRaf is just slapped together for a quick photo, pulled apart already
21:11 GuShH but the "original" also uses double nuts?
21:11 RifRaf nope
21:12 RifRaf i use them to maintain position when pulling apart
21:12 GuShH I don't know why but I chose double nuts with a lock washer to hold the lathe
21:12 RifRaf so i don't have to remeasure all the time, the double nut is quick way to lock things
21:14 ShH still doesn't get Wil
21:14 RifRaf now need to make a part so i can house the Y carriage stepper into one of the stands to remove the 3rd rail
21:15 GuShH no peeing on the third rail!
21:16 RifRaf no peeing, just gonna piss it off
21:21 GuShH wtf http://www.latimes.com/features/food/dailydish/la-dd-pepsi-flavored-cheetos-20130815,0,5513075.story
23:06 GuShH Indiegogo: "This device (with built-in camera and microphone) connects to your wifi network, allowing you to interact with your dog wherever you are. Use your smartphone to monitor your dog, take pictures or video of it to share on social media, send it voice messages, and deliver it treats!"
23:06 GuShH ......really?
23:07 GuShH I should start a "project" where I promise to personally beat up the creator of every other project.
23:32 Jak_o_Shadows trying to decide between a oscillating multi-tool, or a rotary one.
23:36 RifRaf rotary is used by trademen
23:37 RifRaf they seem to sell the occilating to the home handyman
23:38 Jak_o_Shadows Yeah. Probably wanna use it for just replacing a couple of tiles, as well as general cutting of aluminium and probably pcbs
23:38 RifRaf am sure there are special occasions where the oscillatiing may work easier
23:39 RifRaf but if you want a real tool i'd stay standard, we cut aly and steel all day with rotary tools, pcb you can just hacksaw easy
23:40 RifRaf but you want the one tool to do everything like on tv so i dunno
23:46 Jak_o_Shadows When's father's day anyway? Discounts would be nice
23:47 RifRaf sunday, iknow cause its my birthday
23:47 RifRaf 2 weeks
23:49 RifRaf been trying to hint to me daughter that she should visit for a change
