00:09 zhanx sure
00:10 zhanx lie on here
00:28 rue_house someone set their balls on fire? I came close once
00:31 GuShH lol
00:42 theBear lol, we all been there
00:59 theBear ooh i'm liking this whole phone-that-works-without-constant-charging thing ! i can actually go somewhere people can here what i say !
16:32 MrCurious is it just me, or does a hangover and a bad night of sleep make for a productive coding day...
16:33 theBear so long as you got enough stiff upper lip :)
16:35 MrCurious there is that
17:51 GuShH Tom_itx: the psu turned out great (just saw it) but I keep wondering why did you choose an optical encoder for the spindle instead of using a hall effect sw?
17:51 MrCurious GuShH: is the re a pic i can see?
17:52 GuShH http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/cnc/psu/psu_index.php
17:52 GuShH I remember when he just began to assemble the psu heh
17:52 MrCurious ty
17:52 GuShH so near the end you'll see the encoder
17:52 MrCurious the fudge is THAT powering
17:52 GuShH his CNC
17:53 GuShH I think most of it was cheap / surplus so that's why he went linear
17:53 MrCurious either my scale sense is off, or that PSU is overkill
17:53 GuShH oh it must be a bit overkill, that's the idea
17:53 MrCurious true
17:53 GuShH if it's worth doing it's worth over doing
17:53 MrCurious and it has the stepper drivers in there too.. just spotted that, that reduces the overkill factor some
17:53 GuShH lol
17:54 GuShH man dovetail endmills aren't cheap... specially the big ones
17:55 MrCurious http://www.gamesprays.com/images/icons/this-job-has-worked-0-days-without-an-accident-3866_preview.png
17:55 MrCurious need a sign like that except hangover instead of accident
17:55 GuShH lol
17:55 GuShH hangover in progress
17:56 GuShH well up to 20mm it's cheapish, anything bigger like 50mm and it turns expensive
17:56 GuShH on HSS
17:57 MrCurious cant you use a 20mm one and just mill wider sides?
17:57 GuShH I'm not sure I follow
17:57 GuShH you mean "step" them, I don't think that's doable
17:58 GuShH http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-HSS-M2-50mm-55-degree-dovetail-cutter-End-mill-16-Flutes-Milling-Cutter-/111099275258
17:58 MrCurious if the bit is this size / \
17:58 MrCurious do two paths
17:58 GuShH that's 55° but still
17:58 MrCurious / \ / \
17:58 MrCurious to get a / \
17:58 MrCurious oh angle
17:58 GuShH but you want it bigger to go up the Y axis
17:58 GuShH that's not the correct one anyway but it gives you an idea :p
17:59 MrCurious nm, my dain mramage is manifesting
17:59 GuShH I'd mostly want one for the toolpost, making custom jigs.
17:59 GuShH but hey I haven't got an actual mill yet, so this can all wait.
18:00 GuShH on straight endmills you can surely do what you suggested
18:00 GuShH even though it may leave some visible marks on these slower non fancy mills
18:00 GuShH time wise it may take the same or even longer with the big one, since you can't feed as fast
18:01 GuShH just not enough torque or rigidity on the small mills
18:26 GuShH just found out mitutoyo has a manufacturing plant in brazil... among others...
18:26 GuShH so it's just a brand like so many others, it doesn't imply it's "japan" anymore
18:27 GuShH I've seen the brazilian version of a solenoid valve I'm used to work with (italian made) and boy it was complete amateur crap.
18:27 GuShH they cut more corners than china does.
19:26 Curious calls for public sham
19:53 theBear err, shame on you MrCurious ! shame ... on ... YOU!
19:56 GuShH theBear: what did he do?
19:57 GuShH bah this service "side job" isn't fun anymore, dealing with other people's fuck ups is NEVER fun...
20:02 theBear he called to be publically shamed.. so ya know, i try to help where i can
20:04 MrCurious your a peach
20:04 theBear heh, i got a peach for yer right here
20:06 Curious flashes to memories of lemonparty.org and shud
20:06 MrCurious during the elections. people were placing papers in news boxes that said "upset with the government. go to lemonparty.org and register your protest"
20:06 MrCurious do not go there
20:07 theBear lol
20:07 theBear i know what is there
20:07 MrCurious cannot unsee
20:07 theBear on a lighter note.... i mirrored an old old old site the other day.... errrr http://rememberit.com.au/insanity-test/
20:08 theBear i was quite surprised that i already had a blank website setup ready to go at that address :-)
20:08 theBear so if ya got anything worth mirroring long term, but on a REAL slow uplink, i'm yer man, oh, and not too big, it's not a huge drive :)
21:59 eadthem http://final.servegame.com/public/robot/chips/baseDone.blend
21:59 eadthem Blender file robot to program microcontrollers at work
21:59 eadthem 2 axis X and Z no Y
22:02 eadthem http://final.servegame.com/public/robot/chips/base.png
22:02 eadthem http://final.servegame.com/public/robot/chips/Zmotion.png
22:02 eadthem http://final.servegame.com/public/robot/chips/AirTool.png
22:23 Jak_o_Android cool eadtem
22:25 Jak_o_Android Im a little rusty with blender, but you model it, rig it, and a custom script does stuff?
22:26 Jak_o_Android *eadthem
22:26 eadthem mmm no clue about scripts
22:27 Jak_o_Android so you've modelled it, and just using it to simulate?
22:29 Jak_o_Android it should be possible to get it so blender controls tge u
22:30 Jak_o_Android uC. Get it to visualize sensor data and stuff.
22:32 Jak_o_Android RifRaf, would you be ibterested in thAt for your robot arm?
22:34 eadthem no just modled it
22:34 theBear hmm nice, someone been practicing their blendering
22:35 theBear and WOW, blender come a long way since maybe 6 or 8 years ago when i last/first tried it too !
22:35 theBear looks much more usable now
22:35 eadthem once you know the shortcuts its very fast
22:36 theBear yeah, but that takes time and practice and lighter than usual drinking
22:38 Jak_o_Android hmm, ok
22:39 Jak_o_Android I think i know how i'm going to control my robot arm, instead of gait designer
22:48 eadthem http://www.vxb.com/page/bearings/PROD/Kit7279
22:48 eadthem would such a bering be good for thrust applcations?
22:48 eadthem slow speed positioning
22:57 Jak_o_Android best guess is maybe. Angular ball bearings are such because of the way the balls are constrained
23:08 eadthem man VXB's website sucks
23:12 theBear hmm, sealed double row angular, does that just mean dual-race balls or V set of needles in there ?
23:13 Jak_o_Shadows Double is normally so they can take thrust loads in each direction yeah?
23:13 theBear i've only seen a handful of double-race balls over the years, never anything nearly that compact with offset needles
23:14 eadthem ile probably just get flange berrings
23:14 eadthem the idea is ile have 2 of them faceing in and 2 3/8 lock nuts 1 on each side on the 3/8 allthread
23:14 Jak_o_Shadows What's it for?
23:15 eadthem fence for table saw
23:15 eadthem allthread driven so like a incra fence but digital
23:15 theBear in the case of needles it'd be SUPERstrong in both directions vs normal needles which are only good perpendicular-ish to the needle axis, with balls i suppose it just gives double-strength/reliability (balls usually/almost always in premade/sealed units run in a track that makes them work/bear in all directions, vs a half and half setup with cups and cones like a pushbike axle has each end)
23:16 theBear whatever they are, they got huge specs, and for 10 bucks a pop they wanna have something special in tehre !
23:16 eadthem http://www.vxb.com/page/bearings/PROD/Kit7358
23:16 eadthem ya well figure that one
23:18 eadthem 7$ for a 1 inch bering with cast iron flange
23:23 Jak_o_Shadows BTW, wrt blender: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHZBFZSklqk
23:23 Jak_o_Shadows not mine, but that's the idea of what I think i'm going to do
23:24 Jak_o_Shadows 'cept mine would be entirely blender, not processing
23:31 GuShH wtf lots of milling + firearm videos on youtube... isn't that highly illegal in almost every place on earth?
23:31 GuShH or can you legally mill an AR15 body without any issues
23:33 eadthem you can show and instruct
23:33 Jak_o_Shadows You definitely can't sell them.
23:33 eadthem but doing could be anything from they dont care to want to see you locked up
23:33 eadthem selling ya selling that would defantly piss atf off
23:34 eadthem they can also decalre you to never get a gunsmithing license or take it away and with very minimal reasons
23:37 Jak_o_Shadows Reasonably glad there isnt' such a gun culture in australia
23:38 eadthem the issue is they can ban the makeing all they want
23:39 eadthem but as 3d printers become more popular banning the gerber data to make 1 is well illigal under the constitusion
23:39 eadthem so it will get very interesting when almost anyone could up and print 1.
23:40 Jak_o_Shadows Is it really fear of the law that stops people? Anyway, can't say i'd bother printing one if i had a 3d printer
23:40 eadthem there issue is, you could print a gun and then use it in 1 day, and in that time only shown it to other pepole at time of use
23:41 eadthem so no chance for a law aganst printing 1 to have effect, if the first someone knows is when its used
23:41 eadthem ya i can think of a dosen other things to do with a 3d printer
23:41 eadthem gun is not on the list
23:41 eadthem anyhow cya
23:51 GuShH errr
23:51 GuShH you can make a "shotgun" with a couple chunks of regular pipe
23:51 GuShH it doesn't take a lathe, only takes a crazy son of a bitch to make one with intent.
23:51 GuShH either to injure, steal, kill.
23:53 GuShH it's rather annoying, those who barely know what a lathe is generally used for will instantly ask "oh so you are going to be making silencers now?" ... yeah to silence your sorry ass!
23:53 ShH wonders if theBear is drunk by
