00:09 GuShH wikihownotto should've been called
00:10 GuShH all there is to it as with most regulated supplies whether it's switch mode or linear; you need to meet the minimum load requirement. doesn't take a genius to figure out the rest and the pinouts are everywhere in case you were not exposed to ATX when younger... hell save yourself the trouble and use an AT then.
01:21 Rif works for my lab
01:22 Rif but still have current/voltage controlled one as well for when i want to know wats going in
01:22 Rif but have added ammeter to me atx at home to at least watch the 12v
01:23 orlok eurgh, back from DC visit
01:23 orlok The PSU i'm looking at has a built in ammeter with digital readout
01:23 orlok i dont actually need it, but if i can get it for $50, that would be nice
04:56 RifRaf had the bit running a bit hot today http://imagebin.org/261224
04:56 RifRaf but survived for 2 hours and still going, without the coolant aimed directly on it the whole bit was glowing
05:11 Jak_o_Shadows /r/robotics : How can i get started with robotics, what university course should I do for robotics, robotics for kids
05:11 zoplrdb Jak_o_Shadows, You don't need a university degree to do this
05:12 Jak_o_Shadows yeah, I know. Just saying, thats what reddit.com/r/robotics is
05:12 zoplrdb Right, this isn't /r/robotics.
05:51 GargantuaSauce got my hexapod controller all together
05:51 GargantuaSauce time to tackle the frame
05:52 theBear hehe, rrrrrrroooobotics
06:17 plrdb wants a hex
06:17 GargantuaSauce so make one
06:20 zoplrdb eh
06:21 GargantuaSauce wrong answer
06:22 theBear heh
07:07 Tom_itx buy one
07:10 GargantuaSauce they are stupidly expensive :(
07:22 Tom_itx then stop wanting one
07:23 theBear he doesn't want one, he's making one :)
07:25 GargantuaSauce ya
07:25 GargantuaSauce and the BOM is like less than $250
07:30 theBear my god ! that's a lot
07:31 GargantuaSauce wait no
07:31 GargantuaSauce 140 or so i guess
07:31 GargantuaSauce forgot i found cheaper servos
07:31 theBear better...
07:40 Tom_itx talk to zhanx he made one
07:53 GargantuaSauce oooopsie
07:53 GargantuaSauce just sunk a few A into a usb port
07:57 GargantuaSauce http://i.imgur.com/zAevpsx.gif yet all is well in the world
09:04 rue_more who here does brushless mtoors?
09:04 rue_more we have a guy who makes them dont we?
09:05 rue_more aha
09:05 rue_more "kv" in brushless motor talk reffers to rpm/volt
09:06 GargantuaSauce krpm actually
09:07 GargantuaSauce wait no
09:07 rue_more my understanding is that a 10kv motor on 2v would run at 20 rpm
09:07 rue_more but the motors are usually like 5000kv and run at like 18V
18:18 James_Cornelious Anyone in here using Gazebo or ROS, or working with the DRC's Atlas?
18:21 ace4016 not I
18:21 ace4016 looks interesting though
18:22 James_Cornelious Ace, you pursuing any particular project in robotics?
18:24 James_Cornelious I'm doing evolutionary robotics, and thus trying to create a native interface to Gazebo or Gazebo/ROS with a Prolog type language.
18:25 James_Cornelious But there are no channels dedicated to Gazebo or ROS
18:26 ace4016 at the moment i do not have a particular robotics project
18:26 ace4016 but i occasionally do venture in robotics
18:27 James_Cornelious I see. Do you do AI?
18:27 ace4016 just not at the moment because 1) physical robots are expensive and 2) i need a problem that can be solved *well* with robotics
18:28 ace4016 I prefer my robots be autonomous, so kinda. I don't worry too much about the "strong" and "weak" AI
18:28 ace4016 i just try to create systems that can operate in the environment given to them and perform desired tasks
18:28 ace4016 (i'm a bit more of a top level view/architecture/design kind of guy)
18:29 James_Cornelious Right, same here. I do evolutionary robotics, hence the interest in Gazebo.
18:29 James_Cornelious Its a 3d robot simulator.
18:30 James_Cornelious Also, gazebo/ros comes with a number of already existing sensors, actuators, and full robot simulators (ranging from Atlas to Khepera and Pioneer).
18:31 James_Cornelious So whatever is evolved in the simulator, can be with very little work, transitioned and embedded in actual hardware based robotic system.
18:32 James_Cornelious Err, full robot simulations/models, not full robot simulators.
