12:25 GuShH RifRaf: the tpi (well there's metric too) gears on your chink lathe are metal or hdpe, similar?
12:25 GuShH I heard the smaller versions came with plastic gears
12:26 GuShH either that or "older" versions did
12:26 GuShH and some plastic handles, smaller tail-stock
16:09 RifRaf GuShH, all the gears are metal
16:12 GuShH RifRaf: these are as well, but I've seen some smaller or older models came with plastic, eek
16:12 GuShH for the feed
16:13 GuShH might actually buy one
16:13 GuShH otoh still got questions and couldn't find many videos of this lathe
16:13 GuShH in fact only one, but of a different model
16:13 GuShH and the guy bought it used and had issues with the feeding mechanism
16:13 GuShH other guy says it's basically a "kit lathe" because of all the things you have to do to them
16:14 GuShH (and I always say chinese products are projects... but on a lathe, jeez)
16:15 GuShH there's a chance the tailstock on the 750mm model is beefier as well, but that's not clear
16:15 GuShH also it doesn't come with a drill chuck for the tailstock, whereas other lathes in the market do?
16:15 GuShH and those run almost 200 dollars here (for the proper chucks, not a cheapie drill chuck)
16:16 GuShH so only a livestock is given?
16:17 GuShH oh and the funny bit is, the company selling these lathes does not carry cutting tools, not even milling tools... and I would venture to say no technical support is available either in case of warranty claims they would pretty much blame it on you
16:18 knob GuShH, do you have a link?
16:19 knob for the lathe?
16:19 GuShH I can get you the model number
16:19 GuShH or a brochure in spanish which includes the model number, heh
16:19 GuShH http://i.minus.com/iPblcEm7KHPkk.jpg
16:20 GuShH RifRaf has the same one, but a smaller version I think... maybe even a different colour (irrelevant heh)
16:20 GuShH Turns out there are 2-3 major manufacturers of small lathes, so they're all the same with different brand names based on who imports it to the country and that's all there seems to be out there
16:20 GuShH it/them
16:21 knob GuShH, ... spanish... ok. I'll translate it... np
16:21 GuShH the belt does look flimsy and rif says it is and in fact he either had trouble finding one or he still hasn't found a suitable replacement
16:21 GuShH knob: no need to translate it though
16:21 knob supermaq maquinas
16:21 knob ok
16:21 GuShH CQ6123 is the model
16:22 knob googling now
16:22 knob thanks
16:22 GuShH And /750 is in metric, determines 750mm length
16:22 GuShH they make at least 3-4 sizes
16:22 GuShH for the price difference I may as well buy the biggest, which is this one (without going into industrial lathes)
16:23 GuShH seems to have a rather tiny chuck and not a lot of swing
16:23 GuShH not sure I'll ever need the 750mm between centers
16:26 GuShH knob: do you own any lathes? I currently only have a relatively big wood lathe
16:26 GuShH (well 1 meter between centers, and again... I've never used it to it's full capacity and probably never will)
16:27 knob GuShH, nah... unfortunately, now.
16:27 knob *no
16:27 knob Although, I'd definitely like one.
16:57 GuShH lawl some dude wants almost 40% off of one of my auctions... what a tool.

19:58 zap0 they don't need to shrink any more
19:59 zap0 there aren't a lot of general purpose computing tasks left that need raw speed.
20:14 rue_bed "I dont know if teaching the dog to fly was a good idea, he's been dive-bombing cars around town all day"
21:43 MrCurious should be fine, as long as he drives his own car to the airfield
22:09 rue_shop3 hmm I got all the stuff to make anything, the only thing I need is to want something to make
22:09 orlok what about time
22:09 orlok do you have that?
22:09 orlok :)
22:10 rue_shop3 a bit
22:11 rue_shop3 I need space and bike chain
22:14 Rif rue_shop3 finish the reprap, have mine working sweet now
22:14 rue_more ugh yea
22:43 Jak_o_Shadows going to make a power supply out of an atx psu i think
22:43 orlok work has a decent dual output bench PSU i'm going to offer $50 for
22:43 orlok and some SMD rework stations
22:43 orlok weller station
22:44 orlok DMM with serial out
22:44 orlok lots of funky shit that i should be able to score cheap
22:44 orlok 4 channel Ghs storage cro!
22:44 orlok Ghz
22:45 MrCurious woo hoo. got some robot work done tonight
23:31 Rif Jak_o_Shadows an atx psu is a power supply
23:32 Jak_o_Shadows desktop power supply*
23:34 Rif heh ok then, is a handy thing, have used one for many years now
