09:44 Guest21909 theBear: wtf http://www.smh.com.au/world/neighbour-from-hell-brings-the-house-down-20130512-2jfnb.html
09:44 Guest21909 I too want a bulldozer!
09:45 theBear lol.... what's that family guy quote ? "if i was retarded would i have hired a drunk guy to drive a bulldozer thru the front of my house ?" <CRASH BANG BULLDOZER IN LOUNGEROOM>
09:47 Guest21909 lol
09:48 Guest21909 "Jesse Major, 19, a student who said his grandmother lived in one of the damaged homes, said Mr Swegle was known locally for digging seemingly random holes late at night with his bulldozer." haha
09:48 Guest21909 crazy bastard
09:49 theBear rofl, i like that bit
09:50 Guest21909 maybe he used to own a t-rex and got used to digging poop holes for it!
09:50 Guest21909 I should be a lawyer.
09:50 Guest21909 THIS MAN IS THE VICTIM!
09:55 theBear that sounded like you believed it, you got potential :)
12:47 MrCurious guess if you find yourself in a property line dispute, you need to get a bulldozer asap for home defense
13:06 MrCurious story would have been better if the dozer had been outfitted with automated control systems, and granted autonomous behavior
13:32 MrCurious rue_another: you should start with a self propelled mower. would make for a cleaner build, and more time to focus on the where you are going rather on the HOW you are getting there
13:33 Triffid_Hunter gut a roomba, attach it to mower
13:34 MrCurious roomba's are weak
13:34 MrCurious not positionally accurate
13:34 Triffid_Hunter plenty of electric mowers around these days
13:34 MrCurious things that suck dont have to be all that precise or accurate
13:40 rue_another MrCurious, you should make one, then advise :)
13:40 MrCurious touche'
13:41 rue_another I didn't use a gas mower cause I wanted it to run 24/7, they dont make self propelled electrics :)
13:41 MrCurious but if you saw my lawn, you would understand how far from the center of my life grass is
13:42 rue_another yea, it rains here for spells that give the grass more than enough opportunity to become a nightmare
13:42 rue_another the new mowerbot is made of a disability cart and an cordless mower
13:42 MrCurious i have plans to tile or cement my back yard
13:42 rue_another !assist mowerbot2
13:42 tobbor Possibly http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/mowerbot2
13:42 rue_another er
13:42 MrCurious token grass in teh front
13:42 Guest21909 MrCurious: the lawn represents how far from the center of your life, your life is. It shows how you let yourself go, for instance.
13:42 rue_another !assist robots/mowerbot2
13:42 tobbor Possibly http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/mowerbot2
13:43 rue_another http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/mowerbot2/p1020374.jpg
13:43 MrCurious now if you are making a mower bot, you have to give it ability to recog dogs cats children so it can say "here kitty kitty kitty"
13:44 rue_another ugh, I have to update pics of THAT too
13:44 Guest21909 what a fucking moron
13:44 rue_another heh
13:47 MrCurious Guest21909: ?
13:47 Guest21909 MrCurious: fat ass
13:48 MrCurious Guest21909: hows your robot build going?
13:50 MrCurious GushH: you're a plonker. a total knee biter.
13:53 rue_another Guest21909, see topic eh?
13:54 rue_another er, what happened to 'encourage people or we will squash you'
13:55 Curious is the person who when he notices his friend has had too much to drink, he hands him a phone and reminds him of good times with t
13:56 rue_another good times with X, is that a carcastic refferal to trying to set up an Nvidia card?
13:57 MrCurious yeah, but no, but yeah, but no
13:57 rue_another full points for a descisive answer
13:58 rue_another ok, I have to get out of bed and flush a buffer
13:58 MrCurious always hated nvidia because of its binary only drivers. its like it catered to the open source game, by playing an orthoginal game
13:58 Triffid_Hunter MrCurious: that's what nouveau is for
13:59 Triffid_Hunter also, their hands are probably tied with NDAs and licensing agreements and whatnot.. they at least try
13:59 MrCurious not sure they were about ... back in the day
13:59 MrCurious when matrox ruled the land
14:08 Guest21909 MrCurious: a plonker? you bastard
14:18 MrCurious Guest21909: toss pot punter
19:00 Bonfire anyone know any good resources for finding the right motors to drive a project?
19:31 MrCurious you mean strength of motor, or type of motor geared, non geared, dc, 3 phase, or stepper?
19:43 MrCurious i havent found a way other than trial and error
19:44 MrCurious but the upside is once you have several to try with, the next robot becomes much easier to source for (from your supply)
19:48 Bonfire I starting to look for motors to drive a ~30lb bot that won't make a ton of noise
19:49 Bonfire I want to power it with a deep cycle battery.. so there is going to be a bit of weight there
19:50 Bonfire I've seen projects built on top of the iRobot create, but it is really noisy and the power / charging seems totally flawed for any sort of practical application
20:25 RyanS anyone have much experience of Linak linear actuators? the Linak ones I have seem to keep failing. which are a few 'better' brands? Pfaff is one brand I saw and they look pretty heavy duty
23:04 MrCurious time to glue some rare earth magnets and hall effect sensor assemblies
23:07 MrCurious trying to decide if zmbien helps or hinders routine mechanical tasks....
23:09 GargantuaSauce like typing perhaps?
23:13 MrCurious s/zmbien/Ambien/
23:13 MrCurious spot on
23:49 MrCurious 1 of 10 gear boxes ssoldered, glued, converted and reassembled
23:50 MrCurious tomorrow, test and replicate
23:50 rue_shop3 what gearboxes are you converting?
