00:05 MrCurious any ubuntu guru's here?
00:06 GargantuaSauce sorry i use a real distro
00:07 rue_house I use a half-real distro
00:07 MrCurious i think i found the answer finally
00:08 MrCurious this calls for some celebratory cheap trick music
00:08 MrCurious i miss the 80's
00:08 rue_house 'super star DJ's, HERE WE GO!'
00:20 MrCurious rue... link please
00:20 MrCurious chemical brothers hey boy hey girl?
00:21 MrCurious for anyone wanting to hear the song rue mentioned http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpKCqp9CALQ
00:25 rue_bed yup
00:26 MrCurious i can do you one better....
00:27 MrCurious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkXOpJU5CV0
00:27 MrCurious we weren't meant to exist in the outside world.
00:36 MrCurious put the needle to the record. put the needle to the record. put the needle to the record when the drum beats go like this!
00:37 MrCurious quite the 80s/90s flashback tonight
00:40 MrCurious oh youtube analytics, you know me too well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq5i-6cJMJs
00:41 MrCurious going to have to follow this video with some "japanese word of the day"
00:44 GargantuaSauce she can polish my trumpet
00:45 MrCurious yup. pretty much
00:47 MrCurious love the beat and visuals in this one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGTjHSBYQLw gonna have to go to burning man once before i am too old
01:01 GargantuaSauce http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvKRbi2ovDY
01:01 GargantuaSauce byfar the best music video in existence
01:02 MrCurious bring the action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYtGl1dX5qI
01:03 MrCurious GargantuaSauce: i can see you liking this one then... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeZlih4DDNg
01:04 GargantuaSauce fantastic
01:12 MrCurious you know your tired, when you realize you are watching tv with your eyes not aligned at the proper focal depth
01:15 GargantuaSauce just think of it as gaussian resampling
01:17 MrCurious i figured i was just subscribed to the left, and was letting the right fall on the floor
01:23 MrCurious Lindsey, making violin cool again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSLPH9d-jsI
01:47 Jak_o_Shadows got my servos :D
02:10 vatula Guys, I have a dumb question. If I'm controlling an angle (just angle) of a differential drive, then my dynamics is described by w = r/L*(Ur-Ul). My model is simply an angle. And thus a = 0 in that case?
02:11 vatula I.e. I have critically stable system that won't drive my error to 0 ever? O_o
02:17 Jak_o_Shadows plugged in, and working
07:24 theBear hmmm, anyone know rough details of an electricians generic "megger meter" ? pretty sure it's a hv insulation test, kinda like a hi-pot.... if i'm right about that, anyone know common test voltage and maybe measurement range ? wondering if i can borrow one to check for leaky joins/general leakage between ccfl and chassis in lcd screens
08:18 Triffid_Hunter theBear: yep it's a hv insulation test, can't tell you much more though
08:19 theBear well, it's a start :)
08:21 theBear i suppose, 415vac is highest you see around here, that's 585v-peak... so surely it's a couple hundred volts above that, which is around what ccfl run at... then again, it's probly not hi freq, i think that's why they like leaking so much
08:21 theBear then again, surely it's just peak voltage that decides peak leakage/arcing, freq shouldn't matter ?
08:25 Triffid_Hunter the higher the frequency the better it can sustain an arc
08:30 theBear hmm.... can dc sustain an arc ?
08:32 Triffid_Hunter yes absolutely, in fact it's worst for it
08:32 Triffid_Hunter that's why switches and relays frequently have markedly different voltage ratings for AC and DC
08:33 theBear ahh, of course
08:33 Triffid_Hunter with low freq AC, the arc will extinguish in the zero crossing
08:34 theBear yeah, i figured that
08:34 theBear i just noticed i couldn't think of any sustained dc arc
08:35 theBear what do dc arcs sound like ?
08:35 Triffid_Hunter they still crackle like crazy, but there's no fundamental frequency
08:35 theBear interesting.. i might have to make one now
08:35 Triffid_Hunter post to youtube for posterity :)
08:36 theBear spose i'd need a big cap and a hv diode mostly... doesn't have to be big, 1000v should comfortably do a car sparkplug sized gap
10:04 ckkitten idly wobbles on top of theBear's h
10:05 theBear mmm hurro kitty :) i been missing you
10:41 ShH idly wobbles on top of hackkitten's
10:48 wint attaches self stabilizing gyros to everyones
11:57 ckkitten has missed theBear to
11:57 hackkitten :)
11:57 ckkitten feels very stable thanks to Skwint no
11:57 ckkitten takes up skateboarding~
