07:14 gwty Hello, I have a btbee module. I am able to successfully transmit to it, but read() and peek() do not work. Can anyone help me?
07:30 GuShH gwty: using official examples?
07:31 gwty GuShH: yes. I modified the pins to support my configuration.
07:50 GuShH gwty: wrong gpio setup on some of them is causing it most likely
07:50 GuShH could be a conflict with some library (gpio setup related)
07:50 GuShH bbl
08:28 gwty GuShH:ok
10:20 GuShH gwty: so? any news? was it a wiring problem?
10:21 GuShH eadthem: does your dad have a bowl saving jig for his lathe? I've been looking at them online but nobody here sells them.... it looks neat
10:25 Tom_itx bowl saving jig?
10:29 eadthem bowl saving jig
10:29 eadthem ?
10:31 eadthem GuShH, poke
10:35 GuShH one sec
10:35 GuShH fighting with the printer
10:35 GuShH eadthem: wood turning
10:35 GuShH look up the bowl saver
10:35 eadthem i did
10:35 eadthem i got nothing
10:35 GuShH radius cutting jig that saves wood
10:35 GuShH one sec... need to print some docs and call some people but this friggin driver is driving ME nuts
10:36 eadthem gonna say no
10:36 Tom_itx http://www.packardwoodworks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Category_Code=lathes-acc-bowlsav&Screen=CTGY
10:36 eadthem no
10:37 GuShH yeah that's the one
10:38 GuShH damn spooler now won't send the job to the printer!!
10:38 eadthem windows?
10:38 GuShH yeah I think it's a usb problem
10:39 GuShH it's not "mounting" the device at all
10:39 GuShH it won't even take a mouse right now
10:39 eadthem http://final.servegame.com/public/dadLathe.jpg
10:40 eadthem ya he was having a bad day that day
10:40 GuShH wonder if it's possible to solve this usb problem without rebooting
10:40 eadthem Thats OSB
10:40 GuShH ?
10:40 eadthem unplug printer
10:40 eadthem delete printer (FIRST EMPTY THE Q)
10:40 GuShH I plugged a mouse and it doesn'ttake it
10:40 eadthem restart print server process
10:40 GuShH so it's not relevant to the printer
10:40 eadthem k restart the pnp service
10:41 GuShH it's the usb controller
10:41 eadthem as well
10:41 eadthem and plug back in to a
10:41 eadthem diffrent usb port
10:41 eadthem mmm bumped the enter key heading to move the mouse cursor out from over the text :p
10:41 GuShH the services manager STILL doesn't have a search box
10:41 GuShH fucking idiots
10:42 eadthem ya that photo he had a tool issue with the base of that vase
10:42 eadthem you will notice a chunk missing
10:42 GuShH I don't get to restart PNP since it's not doable through the gui
10:42 GuShH maybe on command line ....
10:42 eadthem wouldnt know i run linux
10:42 eadthem in xp you can start stop set to manual and restart the PNP servace
10:43 eadthem I dont know about microsofts newer non windows operating systems
10:43 eadthem all 3 of them
10:43 GuShH trackpoint = hell
10:44 GuShH bah I'll just reboot for now
10:44 gwty GuShH:got it. used 8-bit array instead of character
10:44 GuShH fucking ms
10:45 eadthem http://www.amazon.com/A4-Tech-Laser-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B003FC07MQ/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1366558223&sr=8-7&keywords=xl-750+mouse
10:45 eadthem link him that when he gets back :p
10:45 eadthem thats what is sitting on my desk, got myn for 30$
10:45 eadthem there now going for 60$ :p
10:45 eadthem everyone found out there better than logitec's high end mice
11:03 GuShH wtf is going on with the usb controller!!
11:03 GuShH restarted, worked fine. unplugged the printer, came over here to plug the hub... it recogniced it but no devices are working
11:03 GuShH fucking windows 7!!!!
11:04 GuShH plus it always tries to download drivers online even when you tell it not to, so any new device takes eons to be fully "installed"
11:05 GuShH eadthem: I don't have logging enabled, could you send the link again? thanks
12:28 theBear stupid magic and superblocks .... surely writing zeroes to the ENTIRE 4th partition on all 4 disks will make all memory of the array disappear and let me create one that friggin works !
12:32 eadthem http://www.amazon.com/A4-Tech-Laser-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B003FC07MQ/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1366558223&sr=8-7&keywords=xl-750+mouse
12:32 eadthem GuShH,
12:33 eadthem also has anyone else noticed that hardware just works in linux
12:33 eadthem without dicking around with drivers?
12:34 ace4016 that's complete and utter bullshit
12:35 eadthem I mean other than GFX
12:35 ace4016 you're lucky if there are already some generic set of drivers
12:35 ace4016 if not, you're in for a fucking ride
12:35 eadthem maby im just lucky then
12:36 eadthem ya everything ive used to date on suse has just worked
12:36 ace4016 people complain about windows, but all you have to do is quit complaining and download the blood thing and 9/10 it will work. god help you if it doesn't on linux
12:36 eadthem now i do know that if you dont have a HP printer or a Epson printer
12:36 eadthem you might be SOL
12:36 ace4016 every OS has its nuance
12:37 eadthem wireless probably the 1 thing that dosent work imediatly
12:37 eadthem i mean it even found my midi game port controller and my usb flightstick
12:37 ace4016 generic drivers
12:38 eadthem scanner soundard, tvtuner, raid controller
12:38 ace4016 windows has them too :P
12:38 eadthem probably but they work without missing features
12:38 ace4016 it's not really uncommon these days
12:38 eadthem windows generics dont ususaly work without missing features
12:39 eadthem id have to say the scanner SANE drivers in linux are far better than any windows HP driver or windows generic driver or any combo of software there in
12:39 ace4016 for a lot of hardware, it works just fine; it's usually non-standard features that don't work, which you'll need specific drivers for anyways
12:39 eadthem non standard consumer hardware migth be a issue
12:40 eadthem non standard industrial hardware would probably be well supported
12:40 eadthem most of it
12:40 eadthem I cant wait till KX drivers has a linux port
12:41 eadthem then i can get back base redirection on my soundblaster audigy 2zs
12:41 eadthem ya id say wifi is the worst of linux drivers atm
12:43 GuShH ace4016: I'm complaining about windows because of the usb controller issue (hardware related, possibly bios setup) and stupidity such as not being able to restart the PNP service and other bullshit.
12:43 GuShH I don't own any WIFI adapter that works on Linux off the box
12:43 ace4016 XP or vista/7/8?
12:43 GuShH and they're quite standard
12:43 GuShH 7 pro
12:44 GuShH I need to call Lenovo and have the dvd sent
12:44 GuShH because I want it in English
12:44 eadthem broadcom based wifi cards will work, but you need to add a driver package and push the firmware to the card
12:44 GuShH I kludged the language from Spanish to "English" (didn't work quite well)
12:44 GuShH I use Windows because I have to, but I'm not a linux fanboy or a windows fanboy for that matter
12:45 ShH pretty much hates it all equall
12:45 eadthem some pepole have to use windows
12:45 GuShH graphics wise, it's Windows or OSX
12:45 ace4016 you can't go into services and restart the PNP service? also, i won't say the way windows does it is perfect; definitely isn't. but they leave a lot of that stuff for the vendors to work out...so a lot of bad drivers and such aren't the fault of windows, and more so of the fact that a lot of vendors suck at releasing a good product
12:45 eadthem i program MMO stuff in linux, as well as blender
12:45 GuShH I don't own a mac so... (I do have a Lion VM but that's not quite the same)
12:45 eadthem also do video editing in linux
12:46 eadthem i woudlnt say windows or osx
12:46 GuShH ace4016: nope you can't do it through the giu
12:46 GuShH gui
12:46 GuShH I didn't check through console yet
12:46 GuShH I just rebooted, had to get something printed asap and I don't own a print server yet
12:46 e4016 strokes powers
12:46 GuShH would use an old PC with wifi but the power consumption would be too high
12:46 dthem banishes bash at ace4
12:46 GuShH heh
12:47 GuShH of course you can edit youtube videos on Linux... or your iphone for that matter
12:47 GuShH it's not the same as actual production work though
12:47 eadthem depends on the details
12:47 GuShH speaking of which I may get ahold of an iphone just for dev related stuff
12:47 GuShH wouldn't buy one myself
12:47 eadthem i preffer cinerella
12:47 GuShH I'm not a video guy, specially not a linux-video guy
12:48 GuShH But having worked on video related graphics I can tell it's not the same to edit a small video for youtube than to run a production for a movie, show or an ad.
12:48 eadthem i will say this almost all movies made sense around 1999 has passed thrue linux
12:48 eadthem cinepaint/filmgimp (Deep paint software)
12:48 GuShH and most of Microsoft servers run on *nix, your point?
12:49 ace4016 it's not for everyone
12:49 GuShH we use what we think is most suitable for the task at hand
12:49 GuShH thus I'm not personally biased toward linux, osx, windows... I use what I need to use. I hate them all equally
12:49 eadthem what do you use for your video (Betting a final cut or vegas like package)
12:50 GuShH But it's mostly windows hots and the rest on VMs
12:50 GuShH host
12:50 ace4016 i don't expect 14 your old sally, or grandma Mary to care to dick around with most of the nuances of linux; i also don't think Comp Sci George will care to use a Mac
12:50 GuShH me? or ace?
12:50 GuShH I don't do video. a friend does...
12:50 eadthem itehr
12:50 GuShH he's a final cut guy
12:50 GuShH with fancy keyboard and everything!
12:51 ace4016 i've been trying to find a good video editing software; most are either not cheap or have terrible interfaces
12:51 GuShH ace4016: It bothers me though, the whole fanboy crap around Mac / Apple in general
12:51 GuShH they're all friggin baristas.
12:51 ace4016 comes with appealing to the unwashed masses :P
12:51 eadthem ya ile bash windows all the time, but mac is just a easy target
12:51 MrCurious good morning fellow autonomous toy (of varying size and complexity) makers
12:51 GuShH I think I have a legal license of vegas or that other one... which one is it, I forgot. It's one of those small time limited licenses that come with hardware
12:52 eadthem i mean there are real programs that dont exist for anything but windows
12:52 eadthem with a mac you have less program options than linux or windows, and you have a higher price tag
12:52 eadthem easy target :p
12:52 ace4016 hehe
12:52 GuShH do you have to have a Lion license to use it? or no licenses involved?
12:52 GuShH I'm not too informed about Apple in general, other than they're dipshits.
12:53 GuShH the VM image I use didn't require any licensing, I'm thinking it's not quite legal though
12:53 GuShH their os doesn't even come with xcode you gotta download it separately.. almost 2GB worth of crap you'll never use.
12:54 GuShH so 10GB base install + whatever for xcode and you still don't have any real software installed
12:54 GuShH why do people like OSX so much? their file indexing?, the idiot oriented interface?
12:54 eadthem no clue
12:54 ace4016 because stars on tv use it
12:54 GuShH "tis here icon is bouncy bouncy for a long time!"
12:54 ace4016 they want to be more like the stars and artist
12:55 GuShH you gotta have a diamond incrusted apple product
12:55 Hukka I like it, because it actually can be made tolerable with relative ease. Compared to Windows, that is
12:55 GuShH there's a company that does all that crap
12:55 GuShH I saw one go for 20k
12:55 GuShH an iphone with gold and crap.
12:55 eadthem when i think of stars and artist that realy use there computer they run windows or linux
12:55 Hukka Also they do actually try to be progressive with hardware, while most others would be perfectly happy with making clones of each other's products
12:55 ShH slaps H
12:55 ace4016 i don't do laptops
12:55 ace4016 everything else they do is subpar
12:55 Hukka Ah, so that's the level of the argument
12:56 ace4016 and nothing progressive
12:56 Hukka Carry on then
12:56 GuShH the way apple does it is not progressive in a way that is good for you
12:56 GuShH it's all meant to generate extra income
12:56 eadthem yep
12:56 GuShH they'll release the same crap with some added features to make you buy it again
12:56 GuShH because you are a monkey and you'll do as they say
12:56 ace4016 thier laptops, hardware wise, are fairly decent
12:56 GuShH I like them...
12:56 ace4016 though you pay a premium for memory
12:57 GuShH I don't like the price tag or the people using it.
12:57 ace4016 2x premium
12:57 GuShH actually
12:57 GuShH even if you don't own a mac
12:57 GuShH you'll pay the premium
12:57 GuShH because those big memory sets are sold "for mac"
12:57 GuShH I wanted a 16GB set and it's only sold "for mac" here
12:57 GuShH so, premium price.
12:57 ace4016 it's fairly practical to buy a high end mac with the lowest memory available and expand seperately
12:57 GuShH even though they work on my thinkpad, I just refused to buy it because of the price tag....
12:57 GuShH got 8GB instead
12:58 GuShH the 16GB would've been 4 times the price.
12:58 GuShH (separate)
12:58 GuShH I recently moved to laptops
12:58 GuShH but mostly use it as a desktop, go figure.
12:58 GuShH I'll upgrade my desktop when the time comes...
12:59 GuShH I just think you can get a lot more bang for your money if you choose wisely and ignore the name brand (Apple)
13:03 ace4016 although, when it comes down to it, macs are technically a unix and you can use them as so :P
20:00 bill hello all!
20:02 Guest20766 I have a question about amps and SSR, I have a 50a line, but for the SSR I need, it only comes in 40a or 60a, I only need 40a, so do I use a 40a ssr or a 60a, again the supplied 240v line is 50a
20:05 Triffid_Hunter Guest20766: I'd use 60A because SSRs tend to run rather hot at their rated current and require substantial heatsinking
20:05 Triffid_Hunter Guest20766: with 20A overhead you're allowing it to run cooler, which extends its life and reduces requirements for heatsinking
20:05 Triffid_Hunter Guest20766: whether that's worth the extra cost is an engineering decision you'll have to make for yourself
20:06 Guest20766 okay so oversizing the ssr wont be an issue then, I didn't think so as im not running a motor off it
20:06 Guest20766 im more worried about damage to the parts then cost, I would rather do it right!
20:07 Guest20766 thank you very much!
20:20 zhanx evening
20:37 GuShH rue_bed: any ideas about equivalent pressures vs torque on pneumatic tools? impact and wrenches alike
20:37 GuShH I can't find any information, I know it's going to be relative to the specific tool, but even if I could find something similar to base it off...
