01:00 rue_house sleep is evil for sure
01:15 Jak_o_Shadows Electronics for robot is mostly planned. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/104809629/Overview.pdf The first IC is a msp430 uC, the second is a 4009UB inverter (better for it to be a schmitt trigger one though)
01:15 Jak_o_Shadows thoughts?
01:25 theBear pulldowns on inputs ? what you expecting to be driving them ?
01:25 Jak_o_Shadows is this for the inverter?
01:26 theBear umm, page 2, and page3, why d2 ?
01:26 theBear what is 4082 ?
01:26 Jak_o_Shadows I'm not sure why it's there, but it's there in the datasheet, and on Triffid_hunters circuit as well.
01:26 Jak_o_Shadows It's a mosfet driver chip
01:26 theBear oh, 15 and 9/11 aren't power pins eh ?
01:27 theBear it is ? damned confusing number they gave it
01:27 Jak_o_Shadows Yeah, I agree
01:28 Jak_o_Shadows But strictly speaking, I don't think I really need pulldowns on page 2 at all
01:28 Jak_o_Shadows also, that should be 5V at the top
01:28 theBear maybe some notes about things like the ultrasonic sensor, what it input/outputs, most of it would be much more quickly digested with pin names and chip name/descriptions on the page, but it's probably fine for you actually working with all the data and chip names at hand
01:29 Jak_o_Shadows Yeah, and one of those ultrasonic outs (the bottom one) is meant to be in
01:29 theBear whats the deal with bump sensors in/out ?
01:30 theBear ooh, the upside down 5v/gnd on the ultrasonic sensor is a bit uncouth :)
01:30 Jak_o_Shadows I couldn't be bothered doing it on one page, so it connects to page 5
01:30 theBear hehe
01:30 Jak_o_Shadows Yeah, that was annoying.
01:31 theBear i can easily say i've seen MUCH more baffling arrangements of circuits and fragments-of in commercial tech manuals and schems :)
01:31 Jak_o_Shadows haha
01:32 Jak_o_Shadows but yeah, I should learn a proper circuit layout program.
01:33 Jak_o_Shadows I tried kiCAD, but the parts list confused me
01:34 theBear doesn't hurt, tho i find the only way to be 'quick' with one is to make sure you use it regularly.... i can still draw things in eagle without having to read about how to find this or do that, but i get the buttons mixed up and make silly mistakes like not changing imperial/metric early enough and making myself sad
01:39 rue_house well, the 100W led dosn't seem to have enough kick for hte projection tv
01:39 rue_house :/
01:39 theBear yer focusing it wrong !
01:39 rue_house maybe
01:40 rue_house I'll play more later
01:40 theBear i was doing 5' wide 3lcd projector with a 50w one a few weeks ago and it was just comfortably watchable at daytime behind a closed not-perfect curtain
01:40 rue_house sure 9000 lumens should be enough
01:41 theBear i haven't dealt with projection ones much, but judging from the lenses i recently salvaged, you probably wanna go for a fairly collimated if not crossing-over beam... the tricky thing with big leds i'm finding is catching the side light and getting it at a useful angle in relation to the rest of the light when it hits the first lens
01:41 theBear that still needs more work, i'm confident i can get it up to par with the original 150-ish averagely-focused hid lamp
01:42 rue_house there are reflectors sold for these leds
01:42 theBear yeah, they're 45deg and square
01:42 theBear and if your test circuit screws up while yer having dinner all the silver melts off them
01:43 theBear one of these days i'm gonna cut up the front of a 'dolphin' 6v lantern torch i salvaged recently and see how that goes
01:43 theBear i also feel the shape and placement of the first lens is important, and that bigger is generally better
01:45 theBear but i'm going for something different to you, i gotta try to get a 'square' block of fairly collimated light into the last honeycomb-multi-lens at the start of the projector, undecided if i use the first one at all.... way i see it, and my testing seems to agree, my led panel when focused is already fairly similar to the many-square-lens output of the first multifacet in the original light path, so rather than try to copy the inefficient method of ca
01:45 theBear pturing and averaging/smoothing the old hid, i can just skip a step, save some optical loss and maybe even fine-focus a bit better for a little more brightness
04:06 Shh_ wonders if this whole projector thing is a healty or unhealthy obsession theBear
06:44 theBear it's not so bad at the moment, haven't touched it for months :) and all that time working as a lighting tech, i should know SOMETHING about lenses and focus and light patterns by now, you'd think, cos it seems noone else (outside photographers) in the damned country does
07:44 GuShh_ theBear: bah sometimes I wonder how most countries even exist, based on the amount of ignorance most people have
07:45 GuShh_ then again dealing with people in general makes you wonder a lot of things...
08:14 SquirrelCZECH :D
10:44 orlok ugh. bought a little ox and butttons to make manual control portion of scope controller today
10:45 orlok also found where my tackle box of resistors and crap, luckily before i went o the electronics store
10:46 orlok and looked in a cupboard at my old place and founds my soldering iron and dremel
10:55 hackkitten yay :)
10:55 Tom_itx you'd better go back and search some more
11:36 theBear erg ! it's way too late to be comparing my kernel log to the livecd one trying to workout why the stupid md driver doesn't see the md-root when it clearly states the same partitions the cd sees are right there :(
11:59 rue_shop2 your booting into an md?
12:02 theBear just the root, well, the kernel and half of grub are too, but it's a modern half-uefi bios, and that side of things is working fine, and for example the ancient p3 server happily boots into an md, it should be fine, controller, partition, md drivers all built into the kernel, the initial stage of kernel bootage DOES detect all the partitions but then i see the md 'scan and detect nothing' (paraphrased) and it halts at can't find root
12:03 theBear it is messy tho, i been slowly but surely identifying the various boot-related quirks and bugs on this board, currently got 4 same size drives with both a protective/semi-hybrid mbr and gpt partition tables, but i've done all the hard bits already, THIS SHOULD WORK ! it lists the partitions, it shows the md and raid 1 and raid 5 identities loading then it just doesn't put them together and panics :(
12:06 theBear grr, why do these defcon people make their silly website so hard to find things in ? all segmented year by year, no search, 'seperate' site for each year archives :(
15:28 rue_house RifRaf ! your not using a gui on your microcontroller yet! http://hackaday.com/2013/04/20/gui-window-manager-on-an-avr-chip/
16:08 yahweh Hey Rue_mohr
16:08 yahweh Going into Van tomorrow, I'll be there overnight
16:08 yahweh What do you need.
16:08 yahweh ?
16:08 yahweh Something from free geek right?
16:09 yahweh bbl, Taiko's first birthday today. Just make me a list.
16:09 rue_house oh, wanna see if they have any model M?
16:10 rue_house yahweh, got the monitors up to full rez, its nice
17:57 yahweh That's a keyboard right Rue?
17:58 yahweh http://www.freegeekvancouver.org/
17:58 yahweh They're closed Sunday and Monday. :(
18:32 rue_house ok
18:34 yahweh Anything else Rue?
18:34 yahweh I'm going to NCIX
18:35 yahweh Might stop by main electronics and/or Lee's
18:36 yahweh http://electric-avenues.com/audio/
18:36 yahweh I just bought one of those, I'm going to get a blue LED for it instead of red
21:53 zhanx just found out i am gonna be a daddy
21:53 Fiesta i'm sorry
21:54 zhanx not me!
21:54 Fiesta oh whoops, CONGRATS!
21:54 Fiesta hehe
