01:00 rue_house http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFi7UL70zTo
01:19 rue_house http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7k20Zp5aPjY damn
01:20 GargantuaSauce_ i would give my left nut for one of those
01:24 GargantuaSauce_ not very convinced by that iphone controller though
01:24 GargantuaSauce_ cant be precise enough to be particularly useful
01:30 rue_house Tom_itx, it was a form letter thanking me for my interest in nasa
03:59 GuShH_Lap woot... 2.49 for a feeler gauge, I wonder how accurate they are!
04:00 GuShH_Lap I question whether they're stainless steel or not....
07:39 guest676 So, I have a list of capacitors to get. Are these values too much? I dont want to get too many: ceramic (0.001 0.01 0.1 1.0uF), electrolytic (100 1000uF, 25V+)
07:41 guest676 be back in a little bit
07:43 guest676 Back
07:51 Triffid_Hunter guest676: I use tons of 100nF ceramics
07:52 guest676 Think I could cut down that list to a min of 2 or 3 sizes?
07:52 Triffid_Hunter guest676: so get a 100 pack of those.. electros are handy, get a fistful of 100uF and a few 1000uF. other than that, grab some assorted packs for random in between values
07:52 guest676 I was thinking 100uF electolytic, 10/100nF ceramic
07:52 Triffid_Hunter when you get into surface mount, 10uF ceramics are good if used carefully
07:53 guest676 Buying from ebay so they charge something like .99€ for 25 of one size
07:53 guest676 Cant seem to find assorted kits anywhere
07:54 guest676 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100x-0-25W-5-Carbon-Film-Resistor-0-1k-Ohm-Range-/261029943790 , was thinking sizes 100 1K 2K2 100K
07:54 guest676 Capacitors http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Eltop-Electronics/Capacitors-/_i.html?_fsub=1696250018&_sid=827988548&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
07:54 guest676 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Official-Arduino-UNO-Rev3-ATMEGA328P-Board-Basic-Essentials-Starter-Kit-R3-/121032905747 arduino
07:55 guest676 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/28M-Equipment-Wire-Pack-11-Colours-1-0-6mm-22AWG-Single-Copper-Core-Hook-Up-/230776435022?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item35bb58f14e wire
07:55 guest676 But these are all different stores, so postage will also add up
07:55 Triffid_Hunter guest676: note that CAT5 solid core is excellent for breadboarding and semi-permanent construction
07:56 Triffid_Hunter I'm on the far side of the world so not much use telling you the stores that stock all that here I think ;)
07:56 guest676 Stripping a cat5 for wire? never thought of that
07:57 guest676 You think the three capacitor sizes above will be enough?
07:59 Triffid_Hunter guest676: sure, unless you get into audio you can generally get away with 100nF and 100uF
08:00 guest676 Excellent
08:02 guest676 Idiotic how some stores sell capacitors but ot resistors
08:06 guest676 This looks like a good assorted bundle: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electronic-Components-Starter-Kit-huge-633-piece-kit-/190712040817?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item2c6752cd71
08:07 guest676 What do you think?
08:08 guest676 Saves time buying resistors/capacitors in small bundles of .50€ each
08:08 guest676 Just need a better breadboard and maybe more wire eventually
08:16 guest676 Think its legit to see an arduino Uno going for 15£?
08:17 Tom_itx i got a 2560 for $20
08:24 guest676 Hmm
08:24 guest676 So not unreasonable
08:25 guest676 Tom_itx: What do you think of the assorted kit above?
08:25 guest676 Seems to have everything needed (ad more) at a reasonable price
08:25 guest676 *and
08:27 guest676 brb
08:28 Tom_itx it's probably worth it
08:46 GuShh3 guest676 : 100nF, 10nF, 1nF and lower if you deal with xtals.
08:46 GuShh3 (or RF)
08:47 GuShh3 just beware, the ceramics on those kits are the worst type you can get.
08:48 GuShh3 and usually 16v tops
08:51 GuShh3 ...
08:51 Tom_itx it was a guess. i don't buy 'kits'
08:51 GuShh3 mental note: never help "guests"
08:51 Tom_itx that phase went out 20 yrs ago
08:51 GuShh3 Tom_itx: except you didn't have the arduino back then
08:52 Tom_itx no
08:52 GuShh3 Some assorted grab bags are OK
08:53 Tom_itx i got one of those for 0603 smt and i don't think i've used it but once or twice
08:53 GuShh3 lol
08:54 GuShh3 Well, yeah -- usually if you work on moderately serious projects you just build the BOM and order for N amount plus a fudge factor...
08:54 GuShh3 sometimes nearest price break°
08:54 Tom_itx i never use thru hole but i did run out of 330 r's last night
08:55 Tom_itx i was doing some wiring on my cnc pendant
08:55 Tom_itx i spose i should get a few more
08:55 m_itx orders a
08:56 Tom_itx all they ever get used for is breadboarding now
09:05 GuShh3 Tom_itx: so how are you running out of them? :p
09:05 GuShh3 stupid cellphones getting all scratched up due to the vibrator...
09:05 GuShh3 "let's compromise functionality over design!"
09:32 GuShh3 http://vimeo.com/51873011
14:29 rue_house that was odd
14:29 rue_house regular didn't show, new kid did
14:30 Tom_itx what did you learn about him?
14:30 rue_house made airmuscle, and parallel port 7 segment, but the pin numbers were marked wrong on the db25, so we talked about correcting next time
14:31 Tom_itx wanna help me figure out some logic?
14:57 rue_house you know I dont know that lanugage for that stuff
14:58 Tom_itx you know logic though
14:58 Tom_itx it's one i've put off fixing
14:58 Tom_itx it works but i know not to do certain things
14:58 rue_house ok try me
14:59 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/cnc/configs/hm2-stepper/my_jog.hal
15:00 Tom_itx i think that's the one, lemme make sure
15:00 Tom_itx yeah, i added the remote program start button last night
15:01 Tom_itx the logic i want to work on is, in 'auto' mode the spindle should not be able to be turned off if the program is not paused
15:01 rue_house ok dont throw that junk at me :) just tell me the name of the conditions and how they need to combine
15:01 Tom_itx and it should not be able to resume until the spindle is on first
15:01 Tom_itx i just did
15:01 Tom_itx Added logic for Spindle Toggle control
15:02 Tom_itx that section
15:02 rue_house what is the name of the 'spindle on' input?
15:02 rue_house I dont want to read that file, last time it made no sense and you solved the problem anyhow
15:02 Tom_itx it's ok
15:02 Tom_itx i'll work on it later
15:04 Tom_itx i think it just needs a couple 'ands' added in a place or two

22:37 zhanx ok more workie on the drum set https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-AEh_aMXWfbM/USmVctPQ8nI/AAAAAAAADqo/cZlbYDxXgmg/s1027/2013-02-23+23.11.33.jpg
