02:54 rue_house MrTrick, they are rccon compatible
02:54 rue_house so they work with the babyboard III
02:57 RifRaf evenin
04:00 MrTrick rue_house: I'm asking because I'm wondering - is it possible to add another sensor to it?
04:00 MrTrick err...
04:01 theBear i thought phidgets were a usb thing ? either way, babyboardIII is awesome, and i'm honored to have one :)
04:01 MrTrick that I've got a non-phidgets serially connected heart-rate sensor. I want to push its sensor values into the webservice
04:02 MrTrick so it appears like another sensor.
04:02 theBear hmmm, is it near the webserver and got a serial port it can plug into ? i'd probably do something like write the value to a file at regular but not stupidfast intervals, but that might not work with a premade webpage
04:03 MrTrick Well, there's some phidgets webservice... allows remote computers to read sensors as if they were local.
04:05 theBear hmmm, literally all i know about phidgets is seeing some options relating to them in kernel configs...
04:06 MrTrick yeah, I know very little about them.
04:07 MrTrick okay. What is a babyboard III? What is rccon? Google is failing me...
04:09 RifRaf i have one
04:10 RifRaf think they stopped making them a few years back cause they didn't break
04:12 theBear i thought rue made them ?
04:12 theBear maybe i don't have one then
04:12 RifRaf he did, i am being slightly silly
04:12 theBear heh, probably still making sense tho :)
04:13 theBear rccon would be a very loose/small usage standard of 3 pin headers for gnd/vcc/signal, from memory in the order gnd/signal/vcc, but maybe the first order
04:14 RifRaf i use ground , positive, signal on all servos
04:15 RifRaf -+S
04:15 RifRaf does not matter if you reverse the connection by accident
04:17 RifRaf cannot beleive how many bad servos i had today
04:18 RifRaf guess thats what you get for messing with openservo, half were in stages of being reconstructed, but some just drew so much power just because i plugged em in
04:18 RifRaf like 0.8 amp, one was 2.5a
04:19 RifRaf now i know why my servo pack kept going flat when i was racing rc cars
04:19 RifRaf luckyily found a few mg996 to save the weekend
04:19 theBear heh
04:19 RifRaf in the boat controller
04:20 RifRaf was so dissapointed when i plugged in the arm this morning
04:25 Triffid_Hunter those mg996 are pretty good for the price
04:26 RifRaf Triffid_Hunter have some on order and didn't even remember these 2, but so much better than the other cheaper plastic one i had
04:26 RifRaf they have not even warmed after about 4 hours now
04:27 RifRaf the one hitec servo in the elbow is rather warm, will be replacing when others arrive
04:27 RifRaf and all of gripper nice and cool
04:28 Triffid_Hunter RifRaf: use springs to take some of the load off the servo
04:28 RifRaf have almost no load now with the way its biult
04:28 RifRaf resting is drawing 0.22 amps for 7 servos
04:29 RifRaf so much better than before
04:29 RifRaf a small battery pack lasts for ages moving it around
04:30 RifRaf picking up lighters and throwing them
04:31 RifRaf the webbots dude put me little video on the gait designer page :)
04:32 RifRaf this weekend hope to start making it a bit smarter, like getting a sensor going now that the servos are stong and stable
04:32 RifRaf increased some parts to 4.5 and 6mm thick
04:34 RifRaf weight is just under a pound now 450g or so, without batteries
04:37 MrTrick ah, the R/C servo PWM standard. Okay, haven't heard it called that.
05:29 SorcererX what materials would be recommended for the base of a robot? I am thinking something fairly large, 20 x 20 cm or so
05:31 Triffid_Hunter SorcererX: polycarbonate perhaps.. maybe ply
05:32 Triffid_Hunter also, if 20x20cm is large, what's small?
05:33 SorcererX well, 20 x 20 cm minimum
05:33 SorcererX small... I suppose would be 10 x 10
05:33 SorcererX :)
05:37 SorcererX I am just afraid polycarbonate might be a bit too.. bendable
05:42 RifRaf depends how thick it is
05:43 RifRaf try bending 20mm thick
05:43 RifRaf 4.5 to 6mm should be fine though
05:44 theBear i think you mean flexible
05:46 RifRaf made some 6mm thick plexi arms that are down to about 10m wide, and that was strong but 4.5mm was rigit enough and lighter
05:47 RifRaf does anyone know if the atmega328p has any more timers than an atmega168?
05:47 RifRaf would like to add several banks of servos rasther than all in one
05:48 theBear pretty sure the feature matrix table shows, if it still exists
05:48 theBear at the atmel site that is
05:49 RifRaf k will haver a look
05:54 RifRaf ok so they both have 3 and one is used by the uart and one for something else i cannot see
05:57 Triffid_Hunter RifRaf: nope they're the same except flash and a couple minor changes in fuse bits
05:57 RifRaf atmega128 has 4, got one of pepsi's breadboardable mega128's
05:57 RifRaf but thats a bit of overkill, guess i'll learn how to separate them with code
05:57 Triffid_Hunter RifRaf: 328 has 6 timer outputs, easiest to use timer1 for servos so 2 outputs driving a couple of 4017.. how many servos do you need?
05:58 RifRaf 7
05:58 RifRaf but wanted to sepatate the 4 in gripper from the 3 in arm
05:58 RifRaf separate
05:58 Triffid_Hunter why separate them?
05:59 RifRaf to see if they are even smoother, but its not really needed, is working good now
05:59 RifRaf the gait designer works with banks, and only have 1, so just wanted to see if 2 or more was any better
06:00 RifRaf but getting decent working servos was far better than anything else, the bad servos were drawing so much current
17:14 RifRaf help please, my code is getting stuck on line 4 and repeating it self http://pastebin.com/A4EFknYx
17:14 RifRaf i just want to try string 2 animations together
17:48 GuShH_Lap RifRaf: halp, my robot has become sentient! I'm trapped in the bathroom! halp!
17:50 theBear lookout ! you may be surrounded by evil plumbots !
17:50 GuShH_Lap RifRaf: this is not an fpga
17:50 theBear they came here chasing the change-a-trons
17:50 GuShH_Lap your code is not going to execute in parallel
17:51 GuShH_Lap that said, step your program.
17:53 GuShH_Lap theBear: any idea on what's a "gait" ?
17:53 GuShH_Lap also, you should watch Legit.
17:53 theBear erm, what is it supposed to do ? what sets gait_runner_is_running ?
17:53 GuShH_Lap The latest episode on the plane was hilarious
17:54 ShH_Lap thinks exactly like the guy in L
17:54 GuShH_Lap in, on? I can't think straight without a beer
17:54 theBear he's got some lib/code thing that you can design a gait (ie. galloping) with i dunno, pc assistance somehow, then you take the little snippet for that movement and embed it in your program somehow
17:55 GuShH_Lap theBear: except it doesn't work
17:55 GuShH_Lap so there's no galloping.
17:55 GuShH_Lap ergo that's not a gait.
17:55 GuShH_Lap I WIN
17:55 theBear afaict it does, unless maybe it's supposed to do a single movement THEN set gait_runner_is_running maybe
17:55 GuShH_Lap I'm not sure RifRaf knows what it's doing
17:55 theBear i pretty sure that gait is just the concept of galloping :)
17:56 GuShH_Lap If your code doesn't get past that point, is there a loop in the function, if so a condition is never met to exit the loop
17:56 GuShH_Lap simple
17:56 theBear he's usually the first to admit he isn't, but his pre-big-program stuff has been pretty successful last few days, i think it's just a simple logic errror
17:58 theBear herm umm.. hmm, that's gotta be a small sample of something bigger... whatever gaterunnerplay does musn't be finishing either way, once the conditional says to do that, after that it should do the next one, which will also be true and do the differeng gaitrunnerplay(blahdiffsettings)
17:59 theBear wtf ? damned hippie parents... this guy that works for mum i gotta get the car off a bit later... name is indigo law ! my god !
18:04 GuShH_Lap lol
18:05 theBear can't remember if i met him or the guy before him... meh, i'll sort it out, just gotta ease this coffee on top of all this liquor and painkillers :)
18:18 GuShH_Lap theBear: ok, beer is in the freezer.... now what do I do in the meantime?
18:18 theBear i am ? heh
18:18 ShH_Lap double ch
18:18 GuShH_Lap no, beer!
18:20 theBear any opinions on source end for a diy 'wallwart over ethernet pair' ? only got 5 or 12vdc available, need 12 out at maybe half a amp or so... i'm thinking SOME kind of very simple osc, erm, i suppose something in the maybe 30-50khz area, doesn't need huge transformers, but isn't too fast for me to deal with.... hmmm, i suppose the idea is to stepup maybe 2:1 or 4:1 at the send end and come back just enough after wiredrop at the far end...
18:20 theBear hmmm
18:21 theBear i suppose i can be ugly, maybe a gentle lowpass to avoid nasty sharp edge noise, but otherwise square drive, salvage/mod/rewind with some little cores from spareparts 50w-ish doewnlight transformers
18:21 theBear err, "electronic trnasformers" that is
18:21 GargantuaSauce or just use a pair of shitty chinese SMPSes
18:22 GargantuaSauce will probably get about the same efficiency
18:22 theBear but i don't have a pair of those
18:22 theBear i'll be using at least 98% parts out of them tho :)
18:23 theBear i been using what remains on a old multisync crt neck and main board, dead switching atx and projector ballast boards, and little 'electronic downlight transformers' (aka cheap dirty-12vac output switcher) for EVERYTHING the last week or so
18:24 GuShH_Lap o.O
18:24 ShH_Lap really wants to flush his toilet with his p
18:24 theBear quite novel, it takes years of practice and learning and experience, to be able to randomly pull still-good parts out of dead stuff and soemhow find all the right bits to make it work
18:25 GuShH_Lap that is, touch a button and have it flush.
18:25 theBear ALMOST made successful (good enough to sync reliably, still need more hifreq work) video transformers (not series choke/baluns) out of just taht stuff
18:25 GuShH_Lap I wonder if a regular micro servo would be enough
18:25 GuShH_Lap would need a water tight enclosure...
18:25 GargantuaSauce probably would need a standard size servo
18:25 GuShH_Lap depends
18:25 theBear little opto control 320vdc switching board for the projector led mod, this current atx psu upgrade
18:26 GuShH_Lap the newer toilets require little force
18:26 GuShH_Lap older ... a lot more.
18:26 GuShH_Lap problem with the "newer" ones is you've got two flushing modes
18:26 GuShH_Lap heh
18:26 theBear hmmmm... newer ones do... you can always lever a bit more than standard... i suppose you gotta 'lift' the water until the slack comes out of the rubber plug/stopper at the bottom, as soon as that seal cracks the whole things flips
18:27 GuShH_Lap they mostly all work with air to keep it up
18:27 GuShH_Lap well the previous house had some fancier stuff with venturi effect bs
18:27 GuShH_Lap they were a nightmare to service.
18:28 GargantuaSauce oh btw gussh thanks for that flux guide blog post, came in handy today
18:28 GuShH_Lap cool
18:28 theBear been a while, can't imagine the flip-flop/hysteresis part, i'm wondering if just a little lever/something that levered the edge of the rubber in one spot for low-strength-needed would get it started, or if you gotta move it with the mech for it to flop
18:28 GargantuaSauce it came up on the googles and i was like "hey i know who that is"
18:28 GuShH_Lap :D
18:28 theBear mmmm, i think i know those, like foreign toilets in movies and stuff... VERY rare here
18:29 GuShH_Lap crown sloan valves
18:29 GuShH_Lap or something like that
18:29 GargantuaSauce also you'd have to deal with dumb cases like the stopper sticking open and needing a jiggle of the handle to seal again
18:29 GargantuaSauce which seems to happen to even new ones
18:29 GuShH_Lap hard to get spare parts, and they would rarely work properly.... they need a lot of pressure
18:29 GuShH_Lap yeah
18:29 theBear reminds me, i need a new rubbery thing to stop the bit where the water (pipe) goes into the porcelain from leaking
18:29 GuShH_Lap theBear: I JUST took mine apart, it's doing that.
18:30 theBear hmm, and i'm gonna have a car later today.. interesting
18:30 ShH_Lap never called a plumber and never
18:30 GuShH_Lap then again I fit the italian stereotype
18:31 theBear it looks like it should be straightforward on this one, pretty generic top and main bit, not too tight behind, think i can just empty the top, loosen the bottom where the pipe exits and wiggle the rubber out/back in
18:31 GuShH_Lap theBear: got a car?
18:31 theBear well, a new one i guess
18:31 GuShH_Lap I tried sealing it with silicone...
18:31 GuShH_Lap didn't work, first time I fail doing that.
18:31 theBear nah, mum in hospital with some (new, likely short term) back problem, gotta pickup her car off a indigo law <grin>
18:31 GuShH_Lap took it all apart, including the "tank"
18:32 GuShH_Lap I'm tempted to remove the whole toilet and place it in the middle of the garden
18:32 GuShH_Lap take a couple pics, leave it there until someone notices
18:32 theBear mmm, don't like hugging a toilet unless i have to so i haven't inspected too hard, but it's basically all in place, i'm assuming it's just starting to perish and have hairlines all over the place
18:32 ShH_Lap g
18:33 theBear i wonder, i got distant memories of 'revitalising' rubber with something from the kitchen, vinegar or something unlikely soundiong... any tips ?
18:33 GuShH_Lap my back hurts already from lifting the top, I don't think I can lift both parts without ending in bed for a couple days
18:33 theBear heh, toilet in the middle of a living area is always good, people try to be polite or are just plain confused, but eventually they ask
18:33 GuShH_Lap I used to lift much heavier things without trouble...
18:33 GuShH_Lap lol
18:34 GuShH_Lap I wonder why nobody has dual channel toilets...
18:34 GuShH_Lap that is, one installed next to the other.
18:34 GuShH_Lap would solve a lot of issues!
18:34 GuShH_Lap Not a fan of modern boxy ones...
18:34 theBear helps if you keep homemade wine in the top too, when people look at you funny flipping the lid and pulling it out you say "keeps itcool, it's sealed, it's clean man !"
18:35 GuShH_Lap Ever notice how they splash back?
18:35 theBear wonder, is there anything else i should do while i got wheels ? probably pickup my damned walking stick, herm... i dunno, that might do
18:35 ShH_Lap bl
18:35 theBear huh? dual channel ? what the ?
18:35 GuShH_Lap but I love how the lids won't slam instead they fall slowly
18:35 GuShH_Lap Ohhh toilet pr0n
18:35 GuShH_Lap theBear: I bet you there's a forum out there that is all about toilets
18:35 theBear mmm, generally toilets here are a long drop, but i dunno, maybe the float-volume/shape at the bottom or something stops most splash
18:35 theBear oh heh, those slow motion lids are kinda cool
18:36 GuShH_Lap don't know if they sell ones you can retro-fit
18:36 ShH_Lap can't help but laugh at this conversa
18:36 theBear :) and we been so serious about it
18:36 theBear us science guys are odd
18:37 GuShH_Lap It all reminds me of the camouflaged toilets they sell on Cabelas
18:37 GuShH_Lap I reaaaaally want one
18:37 theBear oh, ceramic top oh yours ? they aren't light, heck, even the lid on most of them weighs a ton
18:37 GuShH_Lap yeah all ceramic, old ones
18:37 theBear camouflaged ? wouldn't that only work in a jungle ? or you mean the artistic kind of camo ?
18:38 GuShH_Lap like full blown jungle camo
18:38 theBear like a waterfall or i dunno, clown
18:38 GuShH_Lap there's probably urban ones too
18:38 GuShH_Lap and 3d
18:38 GuShH_Lap used to read their catalog.... at the bathroom
18:38 theBear heh yeah ? i spose that's alright.... and you can always put some potplants around to enhance the stealth of it :)
18:38 GuShH_Lap -_-
18:38 GuShH_Lap this is too much.
18:39 GuShH_Lap http://www.cabelas.com/home-cabin-rivers-edge-camo-toilet-paper.shtml
18:39 ShH_Lap r
18:39 GuShH_Lap I went to find the camo toilet and I found camo toilet paper...
18:39 GuShH_Lap these guys are INSANE
18:39 GargantuaSauce wut
18:39 GargantuaSauce who buys this
18:39 GuShH_Lap americans
18:39 GargantuaSauce 10 dollars for 2 rolls
18:40 GuShH_Lap it should come with that no-scent stuff so you don't spook your game
18:40 GuShH_Lap yeeeehaw
18:40 GuShH_Lap wait, actually if you are taking a poop the mere smell will spook almost any deer and hog
18:40 GuShH_Lap so what the hell why would you need camo tp?
18:41 GargantuaSauce i kind of doubt it's actually intended for concurrent shitting and hunting
18:41 GuShH_Lap I found just the thing for theBear http://www.cabelas.com/product/Rivers-Edge-Wall-Mount-Toilet-Paper-Holder/1241508.uts
18:41 GuShH_Lap :D
18:41 GuShH_Lap they fail, they're not using camo tp.
18:42 theBear i tend to just buy whatever has the cutest animal on the packaging... and tissues cutest animal or coolest cartoon, kids tissue packs ROCK ! and they don't even cost extra !
18:42 GuShH_Lap some of their stuff isn't too crazy, but it sure is expensive http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=718480
18:42 theBear lol, bear paper holding
18:42 GuShH_Lap I could make that in an afternoon out of wood, minus the antlers
18:43 Tom_itx what linux program does .rar?
18:43 theBear indeed, often the best around-the-house thingers with a cool visual twist are simple, just damned good ideas
18:43 GargantuaSauce Tom_itx: unrar
18:43 theBear unrar usually, maybe file-roller or xarchiver for a gui
18:43 GuShH_Lap http://www.cabelas.com/product/Realtree-Camouflage-Wood-Toilet-Seat/752162.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dcamo%2Btoilet%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=camo+toilet&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products
18:43 GuShH_Lap they don't have the full toilet anymore it seems
18:43 GuShH_Lap probably nobody bought it
18:44 GuShH_Lap you can just dunk anything onto the film pool and have it come out camouflaged these days
18:44 theBear we used to have a few cool seats, the 2dollar shop had 'em, it's not like you need a special seat, it's almost entirely cosmetic
18:44 GuShH_Lap they even sell the diy kits
18:44 RifRaf sorry had to goto post office
18:44 theBear ohh another sneaky painted/toilet theme i seen a pic of looked like you were standing in a outside-building glass elavtor up real high
18:44 theBear i forgive you
18:45 theBear 3 hail maries
18:45 RifRaf lol
18:45 GuShH_Lap http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hobbies/Wine-Making-Brewing%7C/pc/104799780/c/104788980/Mr-Beer-Premium-Gold-Beer-Kit/1421079.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2F_%2FN-1101407%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104799780&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104799780%3Bcat104788980
18:46 GuShH_Lap these guys sure make money reselling crap
18:46 theBear saw a guy from highschool a couple days ago, met my buddies sister in london and they both come home to get married today... the marriage is at the (our old) school chapel !
18:46 GuShH_Lap http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hobbies/Wine-Making-Brewing%7C/pc/104799780/c/104788980/Cabelas-Apple-Crusher/714852.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FN%3D1101407%26WTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104799780&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104799780%3Bcat104788980
18:46 GuShH_Lap must buy a 230 dollar apple crusher!
18:46 GuShH_Lap not even for cider making....
18:46 RifRaf GuShH_Lap yep i am stuck in a loop, will try break out
18:47 GuShH_Lap you know who else is stuck in an endless loop?
18:47 GuShH_Lap Jay Leno.
18:47 theBear oooh, Mr Beer, i do like products with a Mr in the name, like Mr Plow
18:47 theBear heh, how about that chin
18:47 GuShH_Lap http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=714749&destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fproduct.jsp%3FparentCategoryId%3D104799780%26categoryId%3D104788980%26productId%3D714852%26type%3Dproduct%26destination%3D%252Fcatalog%252Fbrowse.cmd%253FN%253D1101407%2526WTz_l%253DSBC%25253BMMcat104799780%26WTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104799780%253Bcat104788980&WTz_l=YMAL%3BIK-517972
18:47 GuShH_Lap too expensive, seriously...
18:47 GuShH_Lap also what's up with the massive URLs
18:47 GuShH_Lap I'm already annoyed *closing the tab*
18:48 theBear i don't mind that new scottish guy, not really a regular lateshow watcher, but i don't mind a good one now and again, that conan guy aint on afaict, jay gone downhill a lot, but i kinda like the mohawk skeleton and the sad cow on this new show
18:48 theBear you're the one that keeps posting them :)
18:48 GargantuaSauce sites that produce big urls are weird
18:48 GuShH_Lap conan is on
18:48 GuShH_Lap just on cable
18:48 GargantuaSauce particularly when the first parameter is all that matters
18:48 GuShH_Lap I download the stuff anyway
18:48 GuShH_Lap I don't pay for cable tv
18:48 theBear yeah, i aint even seen cable here for a long time, letalone had it
18:49 GuShH_Lap last time was at the apartment I was renting
18:49 GuShH_Lap I spent an entire day watching it, turns out they repeat the same stuff about 4 times a day on most channels
18:49 GuShH_Lap ...not worth it
18:49 GuShH_Lap at best 2 times a day
18:49 GuShH_Lap and it's the same stuff over and over until a new episode comes out
18:49 theBear ow... reminded myself why we don't touch soldering irons on the back of my hand earlier :(
18:49 ShH_Lap eyer
18:50 theBear kinda stings now, bit red too
18:50 GuShH_Lap bittorrent + rss + nas or similar
18:50 GuShH_Lap I might get a router with a usb port
18:50 theBear who can say ?
18:50 GuShH_Lap so I can have an external hdd "shared"
18:50 GargantuaSauce i got distracted and dragged my iron across my wrist a week ago
18:50 GuShH_Lap and maybe the printer, if it supports the drivers
18:50 GargantuaSauce and it's still scabby...probably going to scar :/
18:51 GuShH_Lap the smell is the most horrible part
18:51 GuShH_Lap not the burn
18:51 GargantuaSauce barely hurt at the time but blistered overnight
18:51 theBear shortterm (heh, i think it'll stick to a schedule this time) border/spareroom monkey has lots of storage for me to borrow :)
18:51 GuShH_Lap it's only second to the smell of "death"
18:51 RifRaf mm the smell of burning skin
18:52 GuShH_Lap well I've never been to Mexico, maybe I would get a new worst-smell list
18:52 GuShH_Lap India too, I guess.
18:52 GuShH_Lap You never know!
18:52 GuShH_Lap They don't have proper toilets in most places over there do they?
18:52 GuShH_Lap isn't it just a hole?
18:52 theBear damn, aint you guys got reflexes ? i might get a sniff of burning skin, but nothing too deep, i mean, unless it's a tip=poke which i haven't done since i was a kid with no coordination, you generally pull away damned quick, and scatter whatever wires/board you were holding all over the place
18:52 GuShH_Lap It's got to be smelly at some point..
18:53 theBear we got proper toilets
18:53 theBear :)
18:53 GuShH_Lap I mean India
18:53 GuShH_Lap or China, some parts...
18:53 GuShH_Lap from what I've seen it's a hole in the ground
18:53 theBear OOOOHH , i see. <cheeky grin>
18:53 theBear yeah, there's a bit of that going around
18:53 GuShH_Lap beer has to be ready
18:53 theBear we had a couple nasty bush toilets at raves over the years
18:54 GuShH_Lap heh I'd rather pee out in the open
18:54 theBear scariest is wood over a big hole, wondering if it'll snap at some point cos hippies can't build stuff
18:54 GuShH_Lap not sure about number 2... never been in that situation
18:54 GuShH_Lap lol
18:54 theBear oh peeing is different, but often we'd need to stay at least a day and night before the event to get everything sorted out
18:55 GuShH_Lap such an enlightening conversation
18:55 theBear i do know a simple much older fashioned approach that involves no preparation or building tho, always worked when i been camping or bogged or what have you
18:55 theBear heh, we're at it again, toilet centric minds
18:55 GuShH_Lap let me fire up the tobacco pipe my good sir
18:55 theBear ok
18:55 GuShH_Lap and let's fetch some brandy to continue this deeply scientific view on shit holes
18:56 ShH_Lap doesn't even own a
18:56 theBear i been thinking.. way easier than pal, i should be quite adept now at making little baluns/chokes that will happily run my tv aerial down a cat5 pair.... it's funny how when you can't afford the right cables, you end up converting everything to work over cat5 :)
18:56 GuShH_Lap well I made one when I was younger....
18:57 GuShH_Lap not sure cat5 is as cheap as it used to be over here anymore :/
18:57 theBear i own two pipes, but one is shitty and got a crack, gotta be careful to hold the middle bit
18:57 theBear the big wooden one rocks
18:57 theBear me neither, but i already got cables that reach all around :)
18:58 theBear hmmm, another coffee, that'll stop me putting things off <grinning at success putting something off more>
18:59 GargantuaSauce caffeine is not very good at dispelling procrastination
18:59 GargantuaSauce i imbibed a fifth of a gram or so in anticipation of spending the evening designing hexapod legs
18:59 GargantuaSauce and now i've sat here watching you guys talk about fucking toilets for hours!
19:02 theBear recently i find i just need 2 nice hot drinks of anything early in the day to make me feel like it's time for the day to happen
19:02 theBear sometimes 3 :)
19:02 GuShH_Lap bah it's not cold enough :(
19:02 theBear lol
19:02 theBear hmm, which hole is imbibed ? i'm tired and drunk :)
19:03 GargantuaSauce pick one
19:03 GuShH_Lap I'm more productive when I got booze around...
19:04 theBear well, it's not completely a coincidence that i stopped soldering shortly after i stopped drinking :)
19:04 GuShH_Lap theBear: got Miller over there?
19:04 GuShH_Lap I figure if it's american but it's available in the us and HERE... then you HAVE to have it
19:04 GuShH_Lap us/uk
19:04 theBear some places got it, but it's in the silly-expensive category, i tasted it, but that kinda premium for a non-domestic is just silly
19:04 ShH_Lap is secretly responsible for a lot of products appearing in his cou
19:05 theBear lol, bootlegger eh ?
19:05 GuShH_Lap costs the same as a warsteiner
19:05 GuShH_Lap and since I'm tired of the latter...
19:06 theBear lol, that's a funny name... recently i liked this err, can't see a can, something stein something, cheapest beer in the shop, and it's very drinkable, not exciting, but far from bad
19:06 theBear and a guy i know, err, raddenburger i think, is where he grew up and where they make a lovely beer
19:06 GuShH_Lap Hmmm
19:06 GuShH_Lap I miss a german beer
19:06 GuShH_Lap with the imports shut you can't get it anymore
19:06 GuShH_Lap Holesten Festbock
19:06 GuShH_Lap Holsten*
19:07 GuShH_Lap http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/628/5119
19:07 GuShH_Lap hasn't got a good review... but the guys in that site are spoiled
19:07 theBear mmm, i haven't had a great one for a long time... back in the day with flip-pop resealable lids were like a golden stout, so much flavour you could chew them, but still a lager feel
19:07 theBear this isn't helping, there is still beer in the fridge
19:08 theBear probably shouldn't drink more if i gotta do what i gotta do, should make contact with the silly name
19:08 ShH_Lap only had half a beer this entire
19:08 GuShH_Lap If I want to get a new driving license I won't be able to drink for an entire year
19:08 GuShH_Lap at least not legally speaking.
19:09 GuShH_Lap that may come out as if I've lost my license to DUI
19:09 GuShH_Lap ...but no, it's a new law here.
19:09 theBear heh, i just don't drive :) plus at the moment if you get zero fines/warnings in the first year your 2nd year licensing fees are waived :)
19:09 GuShH_Lap I'm very inclined to getting a motorcycle
19:09 theBear i suspect i'm up to "don't drink" but .02 limit vs ANYTHING measurable now i past 6months on my own
19:10 GuShH_Lap I can't find good deals on cars that I'd like to own (only junkers) and I could get a 0KM brand new yamaha ybr for less....
19:10 theBear and all this heavy drinking has made my body workout how to process alcahol quicker than a non drinker, which helps with time
19:10 GuShH_Lap theBear: it's NO alcohol whatsoever for 365 days once the license is given to you
19:10 theBear what the ? but ! ho DUDE!!!!
19:10 GuShH_Lap exactly
19:11 theBear are most deaths during first year of driving there caused by suicide due to lack of drunk ?
19:11 GuShH_Lap they also modified the bike laws
19:11 GuShH_Lap for example, your first bike can't be over 125cc
19:11 GuShH_Lap if you want a 250cc you gotta have at least two years experience on a 125cc
19:11 GuShH_Lap NONSENSE
19:11 GuShH_Lap you know why they made it so? because a bunch of retards on 500cc bikes probably ended up killing someone on the street
19:12 GuShH_Lap it's insane.
19:12 GuShH_Lap my brother's license allows him to drive TRUCKS and bikes of any size...
19:12 GuShH_Lap just because he got it issued prior to all this nonsense
19:13 GuShH_Lap oh and the new practical and theoretical tests are even worse.
19:13 theBear hmm, here i think it's 6 months or maybe even a year or two, 250cc and non-ridiculous power-weight ratio, or certain very inefficient bigger vintage kinda ones, after that it's open, you can go 1200 or bigger if you can find one
19:13 GuShH_Lap they make you do a slow slalom on your bike
19:13 GuShH_Lap you can't do that with most street bikes not even a chopper
19:14 GuShH_Lap theBear: well the ybr 125 isn't a bad option...
19:14 GuShH_Lap the new one has some silly headlight, not a fan. the 2012 and older had the classic bullet shaped headlight, much nicer I think
19:14 theBear yeah, we've had varying between state something like those standard control tests over a half or maybe 2 day course/pre-examination... really good riders can do them on any bike, but it sure aint easy
19:15 theBear yeah, i been on a semi-recent one of them, not bad at all
19:15 GuShH_Lap they of course make you accelerate and get to a full stop between lines
19:15 theBear seemed reliable too
19:15 GuShH_Lap which is fine if they want to see how you handle the clutch, etc.
19:15 GuShH_Lap yeah the ybr has a nice engine
19:15 GuShH_Lap everyone agrees on that, I just never had a street bike before
19:15 GuShH_Lap only a dirtbike
19:15 theBear it lived with a housemate for several years while i watched
19:15 GuShH_Lap which you can't legally drive on the streets!
19:16 GuShH_Lap it's just not practical
19:16 theBear if you get a 'cross' one it's usually exactly like the dirt version but with some lights and legal stuff like maybe plateholder
19:16 GuShH_Lap for groceries and such
19:16 rue_house electric bicycle
19:16 GuShH_Lap rue_house: don't you have to be gay to qualify for one of those?
19:16 theBear those nobbly floppy tyres aint specail for the road tho :)
19:16 GuShH_Lap couldn't get a 4 stroke "dirt bike"
19:16 theBear like to roll and wiggle and generally slide
19:17 GuShH_Lap it ain't a dirtbike unless it's 2 stroke
19:17 rue_house not if you make it yourself
19:17 GuShH_Lap rue_house: wouldn't be street legal here
19:17 theBear i know a girl with an electric bike... i mean, she experimented, but she aint gay :)
19:17 GuShH_Lap even though people drive 26cc bicycles
19:17 GuShH_Lap they sell conversion kits
19:17 GuShH_Lap too hippie for me
19:17 theBear surprisingly it can move her and me on the back up even slight inclines
19:17 GuShH_Lap I'd get one if they were diesel
19:18 GuShH_Lap then you could probably run em on fat from your oven
19:18 theBear if you convert nicely for one of the little petrol engines it's a bit of fun, light bike, tiny engine with a little power being efficient, it's like a toy motorbike, zippy but tiny
19:19 GuShH_Lap costs less than a 10th too, but it's too hippie for me.
19:19 GuShH_Lap I'm kind of a chopper guy.
19:20 GuShH_Lap Did I ever tell you about the mean chopper club guys having an icecream? :D
19:20 theBear when i go on holiday i get around on a BIG one with all fancy intakes and carb and custom welded muffler to match the bike, nos fogger system ! and a suicide shift for the hub gears and stretched out silly and backwards headstem, it kinda feels like piloting a dragster-bike would :)
19:20 GuShH_Lap In full leather with their harleys
19:21 GuShH_Lap why are harleys so expensive anyway?
19:21 GuShH_Lap all brand... I hear they ALL leak oil
19:21 theBear hmmm, diesel can run twostroke can't it ? do some radical reshaping/sizing of some intake/outtakes and easy bits maybe, find a glowplug to fit
19:21 GuShH_Lap yeah kinda two stroke
19:21 GuShH_Lap for instance my tiny COX engines are considered a form of "diesel"
19:22 theBear or is the ratio all bad for diesel compression (harder to burn, heavier, more pressure needed to compress ?)
19:22 theBear tthat's what i was thinking back to (tiny cox and similar)
19:22 GuShH_Lap but they're usually just called glow engines
19:22 GuShH_Lap if you increase the compression you can get away with no glow plug at all
19:22 GuShH_Lap they're not efficient though
19:22 theBear starting would be a bit rough
19:23 GuShH_Lap it's all about the fuel mix
19:23 GuShH_Lap guys mix their own "diesel"
19:23 theBear so you should be the first guy to make a 49.9cc pushbike motor run diesel :)
19:23 theBear or chip oil
19:23 GuShH_Lap now I'm just hungry
19:23 GuShH_Lap mhh chips
19:23 theBear heh
19:23 GuShH_Lap oh wait, no oil.
19:23 ShH_Lap p
19:25 GuShH_Lap hmmm I'm not really being productive right now, my theory is falling apart
19:26 theBear oh no ! time for gaff
19:37 RifRaf can we try again? http://pastebin.com/ZVHwc5M4 line 15 works fine, is just a resting animation that does nothing
19:38 RifRaf then main loop starts and the animation on line 29 starts, and does not stop, i tell it only to happen twice
19:39 RifRaf i would like it to play twice and then play another different animation, but if i have 2 only the second one plays
21:21 RifRaf no one can help?
21:29 Tom_itx put them in different TICK_COUNT loops and after the first times out the 2nd will run
21:29 Tom_itx or will it?
21:29 Tom_itx the function names don't tell me anything about what's going on in the lib
21:30 RifRaf this explains it all, trying to use it correctly http://webbot.org.uk/WebbotLibDocs/object.jsp?id=41437
21:32 RifRaf the gaitRunnerIsPlaying function sees if an animation is playing, if not then starts it, and then it plays to the end
21:32 RifRaf when its done it returns false again immediately so the animation starts again, i need to move on to a second animation somehow
21:33 Tom_itx add another parameter to the while
21:33 Tom_itx a counter or something to allow it to return false
21:33 RifRaf yes have been pondering something like that
21:35 Tom_itx that happens with dumb SPI devices too so you need to allow a method to break out of the endless loop
21:41 RifRaf so like an int anim1Played = 0; then set it to 1 after playing anim1, and check thats its zero before playing?
21:41 Tom_itx while (Timer1 && send_cmd(ACMD41, 1UL << 30));
21:41 Tom_itx syntax example
21:41 Tom_itx use the && for the other compare
21:41 RifRaf and if not zero move onto the next else if of something
21:41 RifRaf will try
21:41 Tom_itx while xx ==1 && xxxxx
21:41 Tom_itx or such
21:42 Tom_itx you will need a var to change
21:55 RifRaf nice, it worked
21:56 Tom_itx cool
21:57 RifRaf so now have all 4 animation playing in a sequenced twice each, then it goes back to rest
21:58 RifRaf now can add some buttons
