00:06 shuggans I have an HTC droid incredible 2
00:06 shuggans That I tried flashing a custom rom to
00:06 shuggans without s-off (did dev unlock + root)
00:07 shuggans and I cant boot into recovery, or boot the phone normal. Only boots into hboot + the boot loader
00:07 shuggans trying to rescue it
00:07 RifRaf oh no :(
00:08 shuggans yeah man - super stressful :(
01:19 RifRaf now me programmer has stopped working :/
01:35 shuggans hmmm.
01:37 RifRaf will nake up another header cable in case i have work it out
01:47 RifRaf dammit, why now
01:49 NightRavenXS hi RifRaf, what happened?
01:49 RifRaf programmer just says it cannot initialise for flashing the uC
01:49 RifRaf so am stuffed, tryed 2 arduino things and same
01:49 RifRaf don't want to try the others yet in case something is bad
01:50 RifRaf almost had the wireless stuff going as well
02:07 RifRaf it flashed a mega32 ok but none of these m168
02:13 RifRaf do paralell programmers still work ok? found a handfull of them
02:47 RifRaf found an unused avr dragon
02:49 NightRavenXS wow
02:49 RifRaf if i solder a 40pin ZIF socket onto it then i cannot use the pins for narrow chips, will this be an issue?
02:49 RifRaf just need a programmer
02:49 NightRavenXS that's some treasure you got there
02:50 RifRaf yep is years old but has a mega2560 and mega128 on it
02:51 NightRavenXS both?
02:52 RifRaf yeah, not sure why yet, and then you add on the chip you want to program or something, and has a high voltage programmer
02:53 RifRaf will wait before i solder anything onto it
03:01 RifRaf found a universal zif socket for $2 so will wait for that
05:40 rue_house 128 is prolly a usb interface
07:15 Trick rages... I'm trying to find a 8mm internal diameter hub with a set s
07:16 MrTrick the only one I anaged to find is http://www.robotshop.com/set-screw-hub-8mm.html
07:17 MrTrick and the plate section is larger than I really have room for.
07:17 MrTrick Any suggestions on other sources?
07:18 dunz0r MrTrick: Hmmm... www.robotmarketplace.com maybe?
07:19 GuShH MrTrick: goodluckbuy.com
07:20 GuShH stay away from robot bullshit sites...
07:21 MrTrick hmm, robotmarketplace doesn't have any metric parts.
07:21 theBear lol, robotmarketplace, kids tehse days
07:21 GuShH lmao
07:24 MrTrick it's another one of those terminology issues, too.
07:24 MrTrick http://smallparts.com.au seems to have one of *everything* ... but not sure what terms to use to find it.
07:27 dunz0r MrTrick: Sure they do.
07:27 dunz0r http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/hubs.html
07:29 MrTrick O_O and none in 8mm.
07:30 sw0rdfish ............
07:31 MrTrick yeah, I'm difficult.
07:32 dunz0r MrTrick: Hmm.... making a hub yourself isn't horribly difficult you know.
07:32 dunz0r You just need a pillar drill
07:32 MrTrick that is true. Costs way more in my time than what they cost, though.
07:33 MrTrick mind you, I suppose I could take this one http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=YG2784 and drill it out to size.
07:34 MrTrick especially as the set screw is through the larger diameter
07:40 Tom_itx RifRaf, solder sip sockets on instead
07:40 Tom_itx RifRaf, the dragon does ISP too
07:40 Tom_itx and JTAG
07:40 Tom_itx you just need to make a cable
07:41 MrTrick and debugWIRE.
07:41 MrTrick though it's *really* frustrating if you power the circuit from the dragon *whistles innocently*
07:41 MrTrick because you can put a chip into debugWIRE mode, but not get out of it.
07:42 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/avr/dragon/dragon3a.jpg
07:42 MrTrick (my foolishness. You're meant to power the circuit separately)
07:42 Tom_itx also, the isp doesn't supply power
07:43 Tom_itx it's on a separate rail
07:45 MrTrick +5V is available on the dragon, but yes, you probably shouldn't be using it.
13:45 RifRaf xtal missing off me arduino clone, wonder why that stopped it from programming?
13:45 RifRaf was able to flash it by sticking uC into another arduino, but need a 3 pin resonator
13:51 RifRaf can i just use a xtal instead?
13:58 RifRaf seems i can, living again
13:59 RifRaf yay can flash it again now, programmer is ok
13:59 RifRaf oh well apparently its flooding pretty bad and am hungry so gonna try get to town
14:00 theBear damn, you got weirder hours than me... oh, or maybe you just wakeup at a grownup time :)
14:01 RifRaf yeah been getting up about 5 to get a bit done before work\
14:01 RifRaf day of today though
14:02 RifRaf hrm went outside, it is very wet, might not get out the driveway :/
14:04 theBear hot damn ! i had a few years of that during school, but i aint so good at getting up before i absolutely have to these days, and recently these crazy pills often put me to sleep all day and night, and i end up here
14:08 RifRaf how hard to change a library for arduino to work with other avr?
14:08 GuShH ....
14:08 GuShH One of these days I'm going to hurt RifRaf.
14:09 RifRaf someone has made a good lib that works with these little rx tx wireless things
14:09 RifRaf GuShH well help me get off the arduino then
14:09 RifRaf i hate it
14:09 GuShH not my quest
14:10 GuShH why did you get one?
14:10 theBear hey, rif is awesome, he helped make this channel what it is today, he's just gone a little the wrong direction
14:10 RifRaf and my quest if to get stuff happening
14:10 RifRaf just grabbed a few because they seemed popular
14:10 GuShH understatement of the year
14:10 theBear actually that's not fair, this channel got nothing on a few years ago :)
14:10 RifRaf i do have several atemega32 breadboarded here that i'd like to use instead
14:11 RifRaf GuShH i have faced the fact that my brain does work work like a coders
14:12 GuShH does or doesn't?
14:12 GuShH maybe it doesn't work at all :p
14:12 RifRaf but it does want to do many things that need it, so watever works
14:12 RifRaf er doesn't*
14:12 RifRaf GuShH that has been said before
14:12 GuShH what's your idea of a coder's mind anyway
14:13 GuShH RifRaf: I get to say that 'cos I'm evil
14:13 GuShH And it's Sunday here, still.
14:13 RifRaf someone that thinks alot more logically
14:13 GuShH Yeah I have a friend who doesn't
14:13 RifRaf my mind just races from one thing to another
14:13 GuShH he thinks illogically
14:13 GuShH thus he writes spaguetti code
14:14 GuShH unusable, ugly, crappy code.
14:15 GuShH RifRaf: maybe you need someone to program for you instead
14:15 RifRaf ok will do this wireless stuff first with the arduino to make sure it works
14:15 RifRaf see i found this last night http://www.open.com.au/mikem/arduino/VirtualWire.pdf
14:16 RifRaf just need to hook up the rx and tx again
14:16 GuShH no thanks
14:16 GuShH RifRaf: except rx to tx and tx to rx
14:16 RifRaf GuShH actually it does not use the uart
14:17 GuShH unless whoever wrote the code had an arduinian mind.
14:17 GuShH there you go.
14:17 RifRaf these stings are a bit different
14:17 RifRaf i guess thats why we could never get them goin years ago
14:17 RifRaf things*
14:17 RifRaf see how could i ever code with so many typos :/
14:18 GuShH dyslexia
14:18 RifRaf yep have that dab too
14:18 RifRaf er bad, lol
14:19 RifRaf wow 400mm in 24 hours, and upto 300mm today
14:20 RifRaf of rain
14:20 GuShH yeah I figured that much
14:20 rue_house thats like 5 drops in australlia
14:20 rue_house it would have to rain for 2 days here to gather that much
14:21 RifRaf heh, gonna stop me getting too far today
14:25 RifRaf lol they just said on the national news i am cut off from everywhere, damn
14:26 RifRaf will have to get by with this cask of port
14:27 GuShH damn updates
14:36 theBear you are ? hmm
14:38 theBear damn, good thing you got a cask, i had a bottle and it ran out hours ago
14:38 theBear had some lovely musket port the other night, and a couple different de bertolis, one of them only a year younger than me !
14:38 rue_house RifRaf, you have a boat yes?
14:38 theBear heh, you can't boat to work on 'dry land', it's just wrong
14:39 theBear speaking of which, is the blowup awesome boat still workin ?
14:42 RifRaf yes rue, its going great
14:42 RifRaf and theBear
14:43 RifRaf has zero punctures, been out west catching big cod in it before xmas
14:43 theBear awesome, that little sucker looks like a lot of fun
14:43 RifRaf is great, does have about 15 patches on it now but just cause i use it alot
14:44 RifRaf got new battery too so, can got for about 10km on a charge
14:44 RifRaf i am getting data wireless ly :)
14:44 RifRaf Got: 68 65 6C 6C 6F
14:45 RifRaf its meant to say hello
14:45 RifRaf i guess it does
14:46 RifRaf its in hex
14:46 RifRaf ok now have to make it work with other avrs
14:52 RifRaf works at 10 meters with just breadboard wire for the antenna
14:53 RifRaf and at 9600, but is missing alot of the data i think, but only outputs good data
15:39 RifRaf looks like power is gonna be out soon, off to try find fuel for genny
16:08 Tom_itx storm comin?
16:24 theBear dammit, fixed the lcd i picked up a few days ago on the curb, now i don't have any tiny ccfl spareparts anymore :(
16:24 Tom_itx how big?
16:24 Tom_itx i had one dropped off by the trash a couple weeks ago
16:25 theBear 15" the fixed one, one that needs half its backlight replaced is about 19-21" wide
16:25 theBear err, widescreen that is
16:25 Tom_itx by the time i had a chance to take a look someone had kicked a hole in the screen
16:25 theBear i got a led strip that will fit nicely, but about a volt short in the existing psu, and i'd have to disable the sensing on the half of the inverter that isn't gonna be working
16:26 theBear heh, yeah, it's curb-pickup week around here, i've seen a few that have been gone by the time i walked around the block.... worst part is i'm pretty darned sure noone else around here can fix them, so they're just delaying me :)
16:26 rue_house theBear, computer pu's are locked voltag ratio outputs
16:26 theBear umm what ?
16:27 theBear it's a switcher in a lcd
16:27 rue_house ah
16:27 Tom_itx rue_house what did we do in class?
16:28 theBear and i don't wanna change the voltage, if i go the led strip i'll tap the 15 and maybe short 1 in x leds... just had a play with shorting the 220r in the middle of each section, makes half each section bright and half dim, which confuses my ass off
16:28 rue_house made a camera flash to microphone holder thread adapter
16:28 Tom_itx mmm lathe work
16:28 Tom_itx got all sorts of tooling for it now?
16:28 theBear it's a kinda super-thin flexy pcb (possibly fr, but real thing and coated) and i can't see what is what, it's setup in sections of about 6 leds with snapoff-marks
16:29 theBear another half a volt it'd be perfect, just have to fool half the inverter
16:29 Jak_o_Shadows these days, if a lcd is on the side of a road, they've probably got a laptop
16:30 theBear the one i got for spares was just power cycling and missing a psu, i couldn't help myself from fixing the crappy little thing :)
16:30 theBear but they also over a few days dropped random mobos and cases and got a nice dual-redundant hotswap atx psu too, haven't got around to looking/testing that yet, i figure it'll need some caps, but i got two circuits to compare :)
16:31 theBear gonna have a coffee and go for a stroll i think, stuff comes and goes every day
16:32 theBear it's 6monthly here, seems i'm not the only one with making money in mind, there's even guys that do a circle once or twice a day in a truck grabbing whitegoods, and this round someone has been grabbing ALL the drive boards out of any big crt tvs
16:33 theBear i wonder, with what i've recently learned about ccfls, maybe a big 100k resistor and a 16 or 20v zener could run the leds off the inverter, AND fool it to think there's a globe <grin>
16:34 theBear should probly ask round my buddies if they wanna swap a dead monitor for this little fixed 15" or at least some beers, don't think a hockshop will take it
16:34 theBear well, maybe for 5 bucks
16:43 theBear still can't workout what to do with the 30-something inch tv i got in there, 99.99% sure it's the big stupid backlight assembly that's quite dead.... thinking my 10w spare led might do it nicely, was running the old projector ok about double that size last week, but spreading a single led like that would be tricky, specially since it's got almost zero light-spreaders inside it
16:45 theBear anyone know how to spread an led over a panel that size ? once i remove the stupid tube assembly should be about 2" space the entire lcd size
16:45 theBear bunch of regular white leds would work, but i don't have that :)
16:46 theBear maybe a way to diy a giant el panel ?
17:32 Rif oh man its wild out there, just made it through the floodwaters, no getting out anymore now
17:36 Rif in town houses are going under, sandbaggin everywhere, got hatches battened down here and supplies so all good
17:36 theBear mmm bummer
17:37 Jak_o_Shadows You in queensland?
17:38 Rif nope northern nsw
17:38 Rif we are getting wat they got last week
17:39 Jak_o_Shadows Hope the flooding isn't too bad
17:39 Rif yep, i just love that the rivers are getting a big clean, fishing will be better after this
17:41 Rif hrm ok wat to make today?
17:42 Rif a dc servo motor maybe, got some of those baby gear motors with encoders Tom_itx
17:43 Rif would they make dc servo?
17:45 RifRaf http://www.ebay.com/itm/Faulhaber-Motor-Gearhead-Encoder-70-RPM-Crown-Gear-1524-006-HES164A-/271116997987?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1fd51563&ssPageName=RSS:B:SHOP:US:101
17:46 RifRaf didn't we get them for like $5 each with the right angle gear head?
17:50 Tom_itx i got a few yeah
17:50 RifRaf wat a nice motor, ok gonna get these going for something to do
17:51 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/motors/gearhead1.jpg
17:51 Tom_itx we each got some of those too
17:51 Tom_itx u me n rif
17:55 RifRaf yeah tom found a few of those ones as well
17:56 Tom_itx i'm about to clean house i think
17:56 Tom_itx got stuff i'll never never use
17:56 RifRaf yep have thrown out 75% of junk here
17:56 RifRaf thats why i can find stuff now, only kept good stuff
17:56 RifRaf and told myself i must use it all, so i am
17:57 Tom_itx i'll probably not do anything major again
17:57 RifRaf oh come on
17:57 Tom_itx but i still like messin around
17:58 Tom_itx the cnc psu was one of the major ones
17:58 Tom_itx did you see thatZ?
17:58 RifRaf no
17:59 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/cnc/psu/psu_index.php
17:59 RifRaf lol all they say on the news is don't drive through flodwaters, i knew i was being bad, but i do know the road
17:59 Kryczek floodwaters where?
18:00 RifRaf me backyard
18:00 RifRaf and every road around here
18:00 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/scope/scope2.jpg
18:00 Tom_itx picked up one of those while you were afk too
18:01 RifRaf yep looks interesting tom, might have to try out those calculators at work to try improve cutting
18:01 Tom_itx and did a toaster oven for reflow
18:01 Tom_itx oh
18:01 RifRaf i have a dual scope like that
18:01 Tom_itx yeah i have some slide rule ones here i use sometimes
18:01 Tom_itx they are very handy aren't they?
18:01 Tom_itx mine's a 7x45 zoom iirc
18:01 RifRaf how much was yours? mine was $20 from garage sale, just had to fix it a little, is awesome to look through
18:02 Tom_itx new off ebay
18:02 Tom_itx probably 350 or so
18:02 Tom_itx paid for itself already though
18:02 Tom_itx oh and a saleae logic analizer
18:02 Tom_itx i like those
18:02 RifRaf yep i was so impressed, was just in old boxes, chick didn't know its worth
18:03 Tom_itx good find
18:03 RifRaf hey rue just pulled a big leech of me toes, bet you miss them
18:03 RifRaf yep she said here dad was a botanist
18:03 RifRaf her*
18:03 Tom_itx huh
18:04 Tom_itx you got lots of leeches ehh?
18:04 RifRaf just when the rains come
18:04 RifRaf and when you go bush
18:06 Tom_itx how far are you from your old place?
18:07 RifRaf about 1km, is basically next door on other side of road
18:08 Tom_itx still by the river?
18:08 RifRaf yep but have to cross the road to get to it, about 150m away, can walk with the boat
18:08 Tom_itx did you finish your weedwhacker boat?
18:08 Tom_itx how'd that work out?
18:09 RifRaf was too noisy, did get it happening though
18:09 RifRaf now use a bigger trolling motor with 100Ah deep cycle marine battery
18:10 RifRaf still have it all, might be good for a powered bike or something
18:11 RifRaf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ex292d52DA
18:16 RifRaf omg 90000 views, forgot i even uploaded that
18:16 RifRaf people must like weedeaters
19:26 theBear grrr ! my kingdom for an inch of medium sized heatshrink !
19:27 zhanx kline, https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-mXu5O9Tcgck/UQXN-lIdmAI/AAAAAAAADpw/P39tpefyEHg/s640/2013-01-27%252020.01.05.jpg
19:27 zhanx err
19:27 zhanx minus the first part
19:27 theBear hmm, pies ?
19:27 theBear ooh, christmas pudding ?
19:27 zhanx drum machine
19:27 theBear awww, can't eat a drum machine
19:28 zhanx made from a t-shirt, foil, and tupperware
19:28 theBear i'd know, i got more than, just about anyone
19:28 theBear heh, nobbad
19:28 zhanx nope
19:38 RifRaf making any sounds yet zhanx?
19:38 zhanx yep
19:39 RifRaf cool, give us a demo
19:39 zhanx hooked in to the computer via ttymidi -> qtjackctk -> hydrogen
19:39 zhanx wife is on the phone and doing the actual program now for it.
19:42 theBear ttymidi ?
19:46 zhanx allows midi data to be sent from the serial port to the midi on the computer and qtjackctl and then map that to be used with a program
19:46 theBear mmm, could be handy
19:47 theBear suppose midi ports aint as common on pc as they used to be :)
19:47 zhanx and i am using a laptop
19:49 RifRaf this leech bite just won't stop bleeding, immunity to them must be down
19:50 theBear you probly drank too much or didn't eat enough of something
19:50 RifRaf both the above for the last few days
19:50 theBear :) that'll do it, particularly the first one
19:52 RifRaf i have wiped out all the working code and project for this dual motor driver and 2 quad encoder inputs :/
19:52 RifRaf must want to challenge meself, reverse engineering it from the breadboard now to redo it
19:53 theBear heh, always fun reversing yer own stuff 'cos you forgot to take notes
19:53 RifRaf was hoping i could just edit the working code for this different encoders but all gone
19:54 theBear found a crazy hires encoder in a scanner-lid i grabbed thismorning, unfortunately no ccfl, but i'll survive
19:54 RifRaf wow they have 8 foot deep foam over the highway in sunshine coast :/
19:54 Tom_itx nothing you shared with someone?
19:54 RifRaf i found the code on a pastebin link
19:54 theBear hehe
19:54 RifRaf but it does not have all the hardware i/o setup, so mainly have to do that bit
19:54 theBear "it came to me in a dream, and i forgot it in another dream"
19:55 RifRaf the foam looks awesome
19:57 RifRaf motors drivers done, now lcd and encoders
20:06 Tom_itx anyone here good with PN?
20:07 Tom_itx i want to know how to make a new code viewing format
20:07 Tom_itx ie C C++, PHP, Verilog, etc
20:09 RifRaf Tom_itx you wouldn't remember how many slots in the encode on those faulhaber motors?
20:09 Tom_itx i think it may be hall
20:10 Tom_itx i know where all the data sheets are though
20:10 RifRaf the link i have not working, that ebay link had everything except that
20:14 Tom_itx http://www.fenchurch.org/priv_cgi-bin/ids/index.cgi?mode=album&album=/Computing/%23001_RobotStuff/Faulhaber_Motor
20:14 Tom_itx it's there somewhere
20:14 Tom_itx http://www.fenchurch.org/priv_cgi-bin/ids/albums//Computing/%23001_RobotStuff/Faulhaber_Motor/Faulhaber-Magnetic_Encoder.pdf
20:22 RifRaf motors working encoders sending data of sorts, and lcd displaying again, i love this new system
20:22 RifRaf thanks tom, will get the correct setting now
20:25 RifRaf hrm cannot see the number of slots
20:32 Tom_itx do you remember how many slots the encoders had
20:32 Tom_itx <Fenchurch> 1 slot. well a north and a south pole.
20:32 Tom_itx <Fenchurch> I can find the data sheets as well
20:37 RifRaf oh so its not the encoder i am thinking of
20:38 Tom_itx not as such no
20:38 RifRaf so just a pulse per revolution?
20:38 Tom_itx it's not a slotted encoder
20:38 Tom_itx look over his pics. he disected one
20:38 RifRaf ok
20:40 RifRaf the 2 motors are running well from a l298
20:40 RifRaf heatsink staying cool
20:55 RifRaf check this video out http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/news/alexandra-headland-winter-wonderland-draws-crowd/1733371/
23:15 rue_house for robots that hold copies of all their schematics and source code, what directory should I put it under
23:17 rue_house sea foam?
23:17 rue_house I cant see where the car came from
23:17 rue_house underground parking?
23:18 RifRaf it was driving on the road
23:18 RifRaf under the foam, thats today here, pretty weird eh, almost got the cops
23:18 RifRaf its still there apparently
23:20 rue_house I cant see wher ethe car came from tho
23:20 RifRaf rue i need help to make a pid motor setup, or make a dc motor act like a servo, found some old code of yours that looks usefull
23:20 Jak_o_Shadows yeah, that's bloody stpid driving like that
23:20 RifRaf rue the foam is deeper than the car
23:20 rue_house yes, you dind't finish it all back then
23:20 rue_house yes,
23:21 rue_house which direction did the car come from?
23:21 RifRaf same way as the bus
23:21 rue_house the foam looks like it gets about 2m deep in places
23:21 RifRaf on another lane, but musta been stuck under the foam
23:21 RifRaf yes they said 8 feet deep
23:21 rue_house they said 8 feet?
23:21 rue_house your not in imperial country mate
23:21 RifRaf well maybe thats wat i converted it to
23:22 rue_house ok
23:22 rue_house so, wont the webbot library do pid for you?
23:22 RifRaf yes
23:22 rue_house so?
23:22 RifRaf it has a libary for it
23:23 RifRaf well i dunno where to start, i guess i better learn it
23:23 RifRaf but it doesn't have the code to make it work
23:23 rue_house hmm
23:23 RifRaf has basic examples
23:23 rue_house what motor you trying to get goin?
23:23 rue_house what kinda feedback, what kinda control signal
23:23 RifRaf little faulhaber ones like this...
23:24 rue_house sounds familiar...
23:24 rue_house hp printers use those
23:25 rue_house !assist tutorials
23:25 tobbor Possibly http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/tutorials
23:25 RifRaf hrm lost link when power went out
23:25 rue_house http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/elex/dcservotut/Index.html
23:25 rue_house see we never finished
23:25 RifRaf no not the hp ones, did them the other day
23:26 RifRaf not alot on that page
23:26 rue_house you dont like to wait on people, thats why I keep telling you to learn C proper
23:27 RifRaf these ones http://www.robotroom.com/FaulhaberGearmotor.html
23:27 RifRaf yeah waiting is a waste of time
23:27 rue_house oo
23:27 RifRaf but i find stuff to do in the middle
23:28 RifRaf have 2 of them going backwards and forwards right now
23:28 RifRaf with the encoders displaying stuff on the lcd
23:29 RifRaf they are using stuff all power and nothing warming up
23:29 rue_house you can control the speed of the motor?
23:29 RifRaf but not under any load
23:30 RifRaf yeah sorta, i have an example that does it
23:30 RifRaf ramps up then does, then does it the other way
23:30 RifRaf down*
23:30 rue_house you need to have 3 things: the motors position, an input target position, and control of the speed and direction of the motor
23:31 RifRaf ok the dir and speed is controllable
23:31 RifRaf the position can be found by the encoder
23:31 RifRaf and have no target yet, how about just till it hits a switch or something
23:32 RifRaf or an amount of degrees
23:32 rue_house nope, has to be a position that can be compared to the number from the encoder
23:32 rue_house its best if you can change it
23:32 RifRaf ok, well i was thinking just make it like a servo
23:32 RifRaf so i can use the gait designer and stuff
23:32 RifRaf it seems to only want servos
23:33 rue_house can you input servo pulses?
23:33 RifRaf yes
23:33 rue_house ok what number range do the servo pulse inputs give you?
23:33 RifRaf well i can control servos if i plug them in
23:33 rue_house nope, other way
23:33 rue_house right?
23:33 rue_house you want to send servo pulses into the controller board right?
23:34 RifRaf center is 1500 and left right is currently 400
23:34 rue_house you know I'm about to call it a night right?
23:34 RifRaf yep something that does the same as servo, would need direction added to the pwm signal?
23:34 rue_house this horrible timezone thing
23:34 RifRaf yes i am not expecting anything
23:34 RifRaf just discussing
23:35 rue_house so you need to be able to send servo pulse sinto a board and have it measure them
23:35 rue_house I have code to do it
23:35 rue_house for atmega8
23:35 GuShH one specific width defines 0
23:35 GuShH anything less is direction to one side
23:35 RifRaf ok, mega168 here for this
23:35 GuShH anything more is to the other
23:35 GuShH got it?
23:35 RifRaf GuShH yeah sorry
23:35 GuShH you can use frequency shift otherwise
23:36 RifRaf but then i need a small uC in the motor driver to convert that
23:36 GuShH more frequency over say 10KHz means go right this much, less frequency under 10KHz means go left this much
23:36 RifRaf which i have so all good so far
23:36 GuShH measuring frequency is simple
23:36 GuShH RifRaf: or use i2c directly heh
23:37 RifRaf GuShH have yet to try i2c
23:37 RifRaf will be a project this week
23:37 rue_house funny enough servo pulses in are one of the few things I havn't ever used to control my servo code
23:37 GuShH up to you
23:37 GuShH if you mimic an analog servo, you can then use it with existing systems
23:38 RifRaf well thats what i am thinking, make the dc motor controller accept standard servo input
23:38 GuShH by the way that's how it's transmitted analogically
23:38 GuShH imagine a hi state for each channel and then the width of that "pulse" defines the position
23:39 GuShH so 4 channels, 4 bumps each with a different width based on the position of the particular channel
23:39 rue_house oo its mega32
23:39 GuShH now adays you've got all digital systems heh
23:39 RifRaf GuShH i understand the signals for a normal servo, what they expect to be able to move
23:39 GuShH at several GHz
23:39 GuShH I was talking about the transmitter - receiver
23:39 RifRaf rue i have mega32 breadboarded as well ready to do stuff
23:40 GuShH If you have a good enough front-end you can make an analog receiver with just a micro
23:42 rue_house I know you dont need this code cause you have the webots library, but here it is, it takes in 2 channels of hobby pwm and outputs to an lcd and (I think) two motors (for direction and speed control)
23:42 rue_house http://paste.debian.net/229530/
23:43 rue_house but there are a lot of other files that apparently go with it
23:43 RifRaf rue_house ok then theanks, is something to ;oook at and compare to at least
23:43 RifRaf i actually need the encoder to be off the motor, on the joint being moved
23:43 RifRaf or something, i need to think about it a bit
23:43 rue_house only if your drive coupling slips
23:44 rue_house otherwise just scale down the numbers
23:44 RifRaf maybe food will help
23:44 rue_house your right, see you after I get 8 or so hours sleep
23:45 rue_house I can give you all the files if you want
