00:33 Casper failed safelly or unsafelly?
00:36 home safely
00:40 rue_mohr it was dragged down to -1V
00:40 rue_mohr so much for only needing a low current charge pump for hte rs232
00:42 rue_mohr its ok, its only soldered in by 3 wires
00:42 rue_mohr and the board I made it from was just $1 from ebay, and I only used about 1/6 of it or so
00:50 Casper what happend if you overfill an A/C compressor with oil, repurposed as an air compressor?
00:50 Casper could foam the oil, causing it to be sucked in and wasted? or cause damage?
00:50 rue_mohr I dont know yet, I havn't bolted it down to run it hard
00:58 home rue_mohr: I need yo knowledge :/
00:59 rue_mohr who dosn't
01:02 Casper rue_mohr: you, I guess
01:02 rue_mohr heh
01:02 Casper you don't need your knowledge, you already have it!
01:02 rue_mohr that would make sense, wound't it?
01:02 rue_mohr sometimes things dont work in ways that make sense
01:03 Casper yup
01:03 Casper I'm hungry
01:04 Casper http://vimeo.com/43442146
01:04 Casper I want a 3d printer
01:04 rue_mohr make one
01:06 Casper no money, bro used all my spare money
01:07 home I WANT A 3D printer
01:07 home my birthday is coming up
01:07 home think I should buy one?
01:07 Casper home: you checked the video?
01:07 home or make one XD
01:07 home Casper no
01:07 Casper check it up
01:07 home everyone keeps linking me vimeo...on everywhere
01:07 Casper you will want one even more badly
01:08 rue_mohr option a) buy a chocolate bar.: your gonna have it finished in a few bytes
01:08 rue_mohr option b) buy rieces pieces.: your gonna take a good few minutes to manage to munch them all back
01:08 rue_mohr do you understand?
01:08 Casper nope
01:09 rue_mohr you will get more out of building your own
01:11 home rue_mohr: I want to build my own
01:11 home how?
01:11 rue_mohr what budget?
01:12 home 1000
01:12 rue_mohr -$50 for a roll of plastic
01:12 rue_mohr you in north america?
01:14 rue_mohr -$40 for a arduino 2560 from ebay
01:19 home rue_mohr: okay
01:19 home I am in north america, yes :D
01:21 rue_mohr hmm, so getting a length of metric thread will be trickey
01:21 rue_mohr you dont have to make thw whole frame metric
01:21 rue_mohr thats just a waste of money
01:26 home http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SBQBx7BgCKc
01:26 home 0_0
01:26 home rue_bed: metric frame..
01:26 home rue_bed: a bill of materials would be nice XD
01:28 rue_mohr look at the marlin reprap
01:28 rue_mohr er mendel
01:28 home mendel reprap :D got it
01:33 home http://reprap.org/wiki/Mendel
01:33 rue_mohr the basic design is easy to fudge
02:27 Jak_o_Shadows rue_mohr: i'm just waiting for somebody to come up with a 3D printable (or otherwise easily available/made) system for recasting filament
02:28 rue_mohr yup, there are a few out there now
02:28 Jak_o_Shadows Last time i checked, nobody was home making long spools, just short bobs
02:29 rue_mohr mm
12:29 rue_mohr RifRaf, http://hackaday.com/2012/12/14/a-hexapod-robot-made-from-scrap/
12:29 rue_mohr skip the first 40%
12:43 rue_mohr http://www.sc3000-multicart.com/sc3000-cart-case.htm
16:03 rue_mohr my network is going down for a min, none of you will notice
16:11 rue_mohr !time
16:11 tobbor My watch says its 02:01PM Sun Dec 16 2012
16:12 rue_mohr see if that plays havoc with the heating system
20:35 Tom_itx haha rue_mohr i do have some 74hc4050's
21:02 Tom_itx ok rue_mohr, the 2560 DOES have a 3.3v regulator on it
21:02 Tom_itx so i can scrap that off my sd section of the board now
21:06 Triffid_Hunter Tom_itx: arduino 2560? or something else?
21:08 Tom_itx yes
21:09 Tom_itx i hope it's a big enough reg to power the sd
21:09 Tom_itx it should be
21:09 Tom_itx it appears the ultralcd is using it as power
21:10 Tom_itx actually, no they're not...
21:10 Tom_itx they've got an onboard 3.3v 500ma reg
21:12 Tom_itx the arduino one is 150ma
21:12 Tom_itx Triffid_Hunter do you think that's big enough?
21:13 Tom_itx LP2985-33DBVR
21:13 Tom_itx all it's gonna run is the SD 3.3v stuff
21:13 Triffid_Hunter Tom_itx: should be ok, SDs can be pretty hungry though so keep an eye on it
21:13 Tom_itx i'd rather fix it now
21:14 Triffid_Hunter Tom_itx: some of the arduinos use the ft232r's internal 3v3 reg which is absolute max 50mA
21:14 Tom_itx i have 500ma regs
21:14 orlok Triffid_Hunter: you no longer sell the electronics kits? or just out of stock?
21:14 Tom_itx this is a one off for me :)
21:14 Triffid_Hunter orlok: out of stock, our supplier seems to be awol and we're looking for another
21:14 Triffid_Hunter Tom_itx: use the 500mA then, and put some low esr ceramics on the SD connector to avoid power dip when it's first plugged in
21:14 Tom_itx i think i used a 200ma one on my other sd project
21:15 Tom_itx 200ma should be plenty you think?
21:16 Tom_itx i can go either way on it
21:16 Triffid_Hunter yeah 200 should be enough
