08:09 Tom_itx dunno if you remember
08:58 rue_mohr I remmeber the name
17:36 ZiauddinMK i'm making a quadruped walking robot
17:37 ZiauddinMK any mechatronics engineers here?
17:37 CoJaBo i had a fun enough time making one just *drive* >_>
17:37 home rue_mohr: yo
17:37 home rue_shop3: yo
18:03 ZiauddinMK CoJaBo: you mean the gaits?
18:04 CoJaBo ?
18:04 ZiauddinMK you were talking to me?
18:05 CoJaBo not sure what you mean by gaits there
18:06 smeding ZiauddinMK: i think CoJaBo was talking about just having a robot with wheels
18:10 ZiauddinMK smeding: you are here too?
18:10 ZiauddinMK how are you mate
18:11 smeding apparently i am
18:11 ZiauddinMK i once talked to you in #electronics or #arduino about digital filters
18:11 smeding i remember :)
18:11 ZiauddinMK before i notify you?
18:11 smeding ##electronics, pretty sure
18:11 auddinMK is listening to vegetables soup on the
18:11 ZiauddinMK hehe
18:11 ZiauddinMK bubbles
18:11 CoJaBo Yeh; making it drive straight, to be specific.
18:12 ZiauddinMK CoJaBo: this is easy
18:12 smeding just stick encoders on the wheels?
18:12 CoJaBo The encoders were faulty.
18:12 smeding that wouldn't help
18:13 CoJaBo Yeh. I commanded it "drive forward for X encoder tics at full speed, then stop". It ran wildly around the room till i could catch it and hit the TINY power switch.
18:14 smeding hook up a camera, implement visodom ;-)
18:14 Centauri You can also adjust wheel speed by other sensors (compass, gyro, etc)
18:14 ZiauddinMK CoJaBo: you can use an optical mouse camera sensor to track position
18:14 CoJaBo It used a Kinect.
18:15 ZiauddinMK but it should be flushed to the earth
18:15 ZiauddinMK flush-mounted i mean
18:15 smeding yeah that seems problematic
18:15 smeding like i said, visodom ;-)
18:17 CoJaBo visodom?
18:17 smeding visual odometry
18:17 e4016 grumbles and rolls ar
18:17 smeding acquire reference points in camera data, and see how much they move
18:18 smeding it's what the MER rovers did to account for slippage!
18:18 CoJaBo Eventually ended up just replacing the robot lol.. it had too many problems
18:18 CoJaBo The new one (still used Kinect) had working odometry.
18:19 CoJaBo I came up with plans for localization based on wifi, but a doomsday scenario prevented me from completing it >_>
18:20 CoJaBo It was able to map out wifi hotspots and generate pretty graphs, but i never got to the point where it'd be able to locate itself from that data. that kinda sucked :/
18:24 ace4016 like google :P
18:25 CoJaBo Yeh. But indoors.
18:27 smeding seems like it'd be problematic anyway
19:25 zhanx got my new place today

19:30 zhanx nice
19:33 orlok the workshop has a timber frame, si i should be able to jam some insulation in there and cover it with plywood or something
19:34 orlok timber frame, corrugated metal cladding
19:34 orlok zhanx: i keep bumping into us military types in another channel, they are all navy IT guys though
19:36 zhanx i am an a/c guy
19:36 orlok a/c?
