05:02 osoba hmm hello
05:03 osoba there is a wall switch outside the bathroom for light, water heater and heating
05:04 osoba is there a cheap way to constuct something that i could put inside the wall switches that would time the water heater to turn on at lets say 5am and switch at 00:00 and for heating to make it switch on and off each minute when the switch is on?
05:04 osoba is there a cheap way to constuct something that i could put inside the wall switches that would time the water heater to turn on at lets say 5am and switch off* at 00:00 and for heating to make it switch on and off each minute when the switch is on?
05:05 osoba is this expensive to do? is it dangerous? (aka will it destroy the heating after some usage) etc
05:42 osoba so from what i get after reading online... i would need a microcontroller with some simple delay instructions
16:13 iscsinoob is rue_mohr doing ok these days?
16:13 ace4016 should be, yea
16:13 ace4016 why?
16:19 iscsinoob just checking, he's exbited some really weird behavior lately some people havge noticed
16:20 Tom_itx yeah well, he got pissed cause nobody was chatting so he left
16:23 iscsinoob Tom_itx: /msg
20:24 Jan- hihi roboticists :)
20:24 Jan- What do you guys do for a source of compressed gas?
20:25 Tom_itx for welding i use an argon mix tank
20:25 Jan- oh look it's you again :)
20:25 Tom_itx for regular air i use my 5hp 80gal compressor
20:25 Tom_itx for oxygen i use an oxygen cylinder
20:25 Jan- We don't have a 5hp 80gal compressor.
20:25 Tom_itx what other compressed gas do you need?
20:25 Tom_itx co2
20:26 Jan- And we don't really want to spend a lot of money on something we're not sure iwll work.
20:26 Tom_itx from a pop vendor
20:26 Jan- CO2 was a thought but we'd need a regulator.
20:26 Tom_itx yup
20:26 Jan- And regulators are spendy.
20:26 Tom_itx borrow one from a pop vendor
20:26 Jan- we might know someone who works at a place where there's workshop compressed air
20:27 Jan- but I'm not sure what sort of pressure they usually operate at.
20:27 Tom_itx average ones are about 100-120 psi
20:27 Tom_itx mine goes to 170psi
20:27 Jan- that's sort of what we want, maximally
20:27 Jan- the electronic valves go up to 10kgf/cm2
20:27 Jan- which is about 140psi
20:28 Jan- and since they're very CHEAP electronic valves they only have a fairly small hole
20:28 Jan- so perhaps more pressure is good :)
20:32 Jan- OK, we do have a CO2 cylinder. But it needs refilling, natch.
20:33 Jan- ebay has lots of regulators but they're all intended for argon; any reason they wouldn't work for CO2?
20:35 Tom_itx the fittings may not be the same
20:35 Jan- there seem to be adaptors (which are also expensive)
20:37 Jan- you can get "regulators" for those tiny disposable bottles but they don't have more regulation than "sort of enough to fill a bicycle tyre"
20:44 Jan- Gah! why are there so many units for pressue!
