09:42 rue_bed ...
09:43 Tom_itx żżż
10:00 theBear oh noes ! toms full stops are leaking !
10:13 rue_bed wouldn't it be nice if winter came along so slow you never noticed the difference in temp?
10:13 theBear maybe, summer isn't far off this year
10:13 theBear i only noticed today 'cos i was a couple days without a shower and rode a bike :)
11:11 rue_house hahaha entertainment weekly embedded a phone into their magazine to do advertizing
11:11 rue_house http://hackaday.com/2012/10/05/theres-a-friggin-cellphone-in-the-most-recent-entertainment-weekly/
11:14 mutil thats like 4 day old news man!
11:15 mutil lol
11:18 theBear wtf ? /me looks
11:19 theBear wtf? a 'droid ? i assumed some 'dumb' 90's style nokia thing
11:19 theBear wtf ? they sell them in this country yet ? people here are slow, i might not be too late
11:47 mutil http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227542 $29.99 after rebates
11:48 katsmeow-afk good luck getting rebates, i have never recieved one from newegg or tigerdirect
11:48 mutil i've never had an issue
11:48 katsmeow-afk ok
11:49 mutil they just take 3 months
11:49 mutil heh
17:34 rue_bed maybe I can caffinate myself out of this
17:45 dthem pelts rue_bed with coffee b
17:53 rue_bed !time
17:53 tobbor My watch says its 03:42PM Sat Oct 06 2012
18:13 rue_bed i should work on the heating system
18:13 rue_bed and turn off the shop compressor
18:18 rue_bed I should work on the firewood
18:18 rue_bed I sould make a stick snapper,
18:18 rue_bed most of the stuff I have is a waste of energy to cut with a saw
18:26 rue_house ok shop compressor, i can do that
18:26 rue_house I shoudl build you anew keybaord
18:26 rue_house one that will last
21:38 rue_shop4 kat, for the mecha, do you think I should put the solinoid driver transistors right at the solinoid or take all the lines back to a driver bank?
21:39 rue_shop4 I hate it when there are things on the floor
21:39 rue_shop4 that make terrible crumching noises when you step on them
21:44 katsmeow casves copper if you route one powerline to the banks of selenoids and put the transistors there
21:47 rue_shop4 they consume about 50mA ea, so most of the wire guage is mainly a tructural limit
21:47 katsmeow but it's still a bundle of wires
21:48 katsmeow how many transistors are we talking baout?
21:49 katsmeow it's like "where to put the selenoids", there's a limit to how many you can run thru the shoulder or wrist
21:49 katsmeow how many tubes
21:49 katsmeow so if you run one set of supply/drain tube, one set of wire for power, then the signal lines can be tiney and be even one high speed serial pair
21:54 rue_shop4 yea I want to distribute them, I'm not sure how much I can yet
21:54 rue_shop4 need a batter mockup
21:54 rue_shop4 I have to work out how to mock up the hinges
21:54 rue_shop4 I suppose I should allow myself to use wood, its just a mockup
21:54 rue_shop4 making 2" pins is stilll a problem, even in wood
21:55 katsmeow i vote for a control cluster of selenoids and comm in each arm and each leg and the head
21:55 katsmeow use 2" pvc or emt ?
21:56 rue_shop4 thats not 2" tho
21:56 katsmeow fudge it
21:56 rue_shop4 the idea is that a) I use non-bearinged hingepins
21:57 rue_shop4 b) the structural pipe I'm using be the sleeve for the pin
21:57 rue_shop4 so I need a pin that fits in the pipe I have
21:57 rue_shop4 sched 80 2" steel pipe
21:58 rue_shop4 I think its 80
21:58 katsmeow even for the prototype, on all it's joints?
21:58 rue_shop4 the major ones
21:59 tsmeow sends rue a pine tree for him to lathe down to 2" pin mate
21:59 e_shop4 waits for a lathe to arrive
22:00 rue_shop4 I know a guy, I should just go make a bunch of pin
22:18 Tom_itx pin for what?
22:18 Tom_itx i say screw it. http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/cnc/Lathe/thread1.jpg
22:19 katsmeow did it work ?
22:23 Tom_itx the thread fits
22:23 Tom_itx the project isn't done yet
22:23 katsmeow darn
22:23 Tom_itx i gotta make another one first
22:23 Tom_itx then drill holes for them
22:23 katsmeow so you going to mod your lathe to make 3tpi now?
22:23 Tom_itx no
22:23 Tom_itx i have a much better lathe i can borrow any time
22:24 Tom_itx like a 10" lathe i think
22:24 Tom_itx gave a chance to catch up too
22:25 katsmeow if you are going to spend any time for various threads, i'd do a separate stepper for spindle and table drive, so you can set the ratio in software (3:1, 10:1, 4:5mm, 78:2, etc)
22:28 e_shop4 splits the 'leds' drawr into 'red leds' 'green leds' 'other l
22:29 tsmeow imagines 40lbs of leds per dr
22:30 katsmeow i have 600 of the dual-7-segments, but only one peanut butter jar of plain leds
22:31 Tom_itx rue_shop4, how are you coming on your stepper drivers for the reprap?
22:49 katsmeow maybe he is rue_house now
23:17 rue_shop4 driver aren't a problem. dragging my feet on the step sequencers
23:17 rue_shop4 so far itns tiny26 code
23:17 rue_shop4 2 motors/avr
23:17 theBear speaking of dragging feet, i was thinking last night it'd be kinda cool to learn to tapdance properly
23:17 theBear like that dude, err, fred astaire ? something like that, it's been a long day
23:18 theBear you know, puttin on the ritz styles
23:18 e_shop4 dosn't make a joke about a dancing
23:19 ace4016 fred astaire is awesome
23:19 theBear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFabjc6mFk4 *BAM*
23:19 theBear now that dude is smooth !
23:19 theBear hehe, that's how i feel when i dress up and go to the casino like last night :)
23:19 theBear there are jokes about dancing bears ?
23:19 theBear i saw the moscow circus when i was small... i didn't know... apparently they're coming back soon... wonder what exactly they do if they ain't allowed to whip the hell out of small animals any more
23:19 theBear but none of this makes me not want to continue practising my unicycling and juggling :)
23:20 theBear and on an unrelated sidenote, i've decided to get me a giant rainbow-clown-wig to attach to my biucycle helmet, you know, so i look good :)
23:20 theBear oooh ! if i get a big enough one i can hide stuff in it, like ghetto blasters and ladders and so forth
23:21 theBear maybe a giant novelty hammer for fun
23:21 theBear orright, gotta go next door and fix this suckers mic on his pc.... shouldn't be long, probly just a 'hit record mixer in menu on windows mixer and select input' or something :) bbs
23:22 rue_shop4 katsmeow, I have 10 drawrs for cmos, if I evenly distribute it in 10's from 4001 to 4099 is the distribution lopsided?
23:24 rue_shop4 overlap 45xx with 40xx
23:24 rue_shop4 hmm
23:25 rue_shop4 1-10 11-20 21-30 31-40 41-50 51-60 61-70 71-80 81-90 91-99
23:25 rue_shop4 I have a lot of 4012
23:25 rue_shop4 er 4013
23:43 theBear aww man, modern pcs take out all the fun.... there's a PICTURE of the jacks on the back, and it lights up the ones that are plugged in .... unplug the mic from the one that looks like an old transistor radio (line in apparently) and into the one that looks like a mic.... bing bang boom :)
23:52 rue_shop4 11-20 is a bad CMOS range, cause it hits 4011 4016 and 4013, all popular chips
23:53 rue_shop4 theBear, must be pretty now
23:53 theBear i dunno, it's sure newer than anything i got, and i didn't even need to look what it was to know that ;0
23:54 katsmeow i dunno rue, if i made such an arrangement got chips, i'd need a closet for 2bit/4bit/6bit/8bit/16bit/18bit latches
23:55 tsmeow hates to haveto power up another puter just to access files over there that won't fit on one p
