00:23 rue_bed b) external power supply
00:24 rue_bed sorry I'm answering hte questions filo
03:08 Sefid_Par Who knows a tutorial about CNC like positioning?
03:09 Sefid_Par I wanna make a scanner. and need an accurate positioning.
08:51 rue_house hmm acoustic positioning
08:51 rue_house how do you want the scanner to work?
11:42 GuShH theBear: finally got the wifi honed, actually set the transmit power to 3x (could've gone further but didn't want to burn their AP) ... got to download some stuff at over 200KB/s, so pretty neat... until a storm came in, now I'm back with GPRS :( at least I managed to download the drivers so I'm using my PC and the cellphone is just a bluetooth modem now...
11:42 GuShH -92dBm at best right now, still stormy
11:43 GuShH It wasn't much better yesterday, but at least it was stable.
11:43 GuShH I was probably getting a lot less than 5mW, that AP is at least a block away as far as I know... might get a new antenna and an AP to setup as repeater if I don't get the dsl back this week :/
11:44 GuShH oh, blocks here are 4x city blocks
11:45 GuShH alleged 238.6kbps on the gprs, which is pretty meaningless since the actual data speed is only a fraction of that
12:00 sw0rdfish hi
12:00 Modeuse sers
12:00 Modeuse oh sorry
12:00 Modeuse hello
12:18 GuShH hi Modeuse.
12:18 Modeuse how are you?
12:20 GuShH I'm mentally prepared to murder my local telecom company.
12:20 GuShH And you?
12:21 Modeuse my neck huts
12:22 GuShH mine houses
12:23 Modeuse ?
12:23 Modeuse sorry i don't understand you ^^''
12:23 GuShH you said huts, not hurts.
12:24 Modeuse oh thank you for showing me my mistakes
12:24 Modeuse why do you want to murder your local telecom company ?
12:25 GuShH some truck ran over the phone pairs and now nobody has phone, internet, etc. and they won't come to fix it.
12:25 GuShH isn't that good enough for wanting to set their office on fire?
12:26 GuShH they're making me hack neighbour's APs and spend a fortune using my phone as a modem just so I can continue working, that's not fair.
12:27 Modeuse Sorry but fire isn't enough for them they can escape
12:27 Modeuse what about blowing there buildung up?
12:27 Modeuse *their
12:30 Modeuse to violent?
12:30 GuShH Modeuse: I wasn't serious about it.
12:30 GuShH But that's how everyone feels.
12:30 Modeuse neither do you
12:30 Modeuse I

12:33 GuShH that happened to me a few months ago
12:34 GuShH it was disconnected at their patch-box-thingy

14:49 mutilator heyoooo
14:50 mutilator anyone ever looked at small/home cnc's? looking for premanufactured stuff ~2k or so, lookin for recommendations
16:12 ZiauddinMK Hello, is this considered a spatial robot? http://oomlout.com/blog/2009/03/fancy_yourself_a_robotic_arm_d.html
16:33 katsmeow-afk that looks like one rue built a couple yrs ago
16:34 katsmeow-afk only, rue's was thinner
16:34 katsmeow-afk and was under $20
16:35 katsmeow-afk interesting, oomlout is in van
16:36 katsmeow-afk no it isn't, it' in .uk ,, thee's a vancouver in .uk ?
16:41 katsmeow-afk Websites tricked users into activating malicious code by clicking on-screen phone numbers, Ravi Borgaonkar, from the Technical University Berlin, said.
16:41 katsmeow-afk No Android could tell the difference between actual phone numbers and USSD codes recognised by handsets as instructions to re-set or wipe its memory card
21:46 rue_house I worked out the trick to makin burritos
21:46 katsmeow-afk drive to Taco Bell ?
21:48 katsmeow-afk i found the trick to making PB&jJ sammiches: you have the robot make slabs of frozen PB and frozen Jam, lay them on the bread where needed, then warm them up to eating temperature, tons less messy than trying to get a robot to spread eaither one on bread
21:48 katsmeow-afk no need to cleam PB out of the makerbot
22:25 mutilator anyone ever looked at small/home cnc's? looking for premanufactured stuff ~2k or so, lookin for recommendations
22:27 katsmeow-afk a few people here built them from scratch, or bought parts and built them
22:27 katsmeow-afk some people here built makerbots, which are cnc
22:27 mutilator yea i see a lot of kits and ebay is full of some chinese
22:28 mutilator yea
22:28 katsmeow-afk well, afaik, no one here has bought a complete cnc
22:28 mutilator looking for mill mostly
22:28 mutilator no 3d or lathe
22:28 katsmeow-afk well, afaik, no one here has bought a complete cnc mill
22:29 katsmeow-afk people bought manual mills and added steppers and drivers controlled by *nix and opensource software
22:29 Tom_itx a good place to ask would be #linuxcnc
22:29 mutilator didnt know emc had a chan
22:29 Tom_itx it's not emc anymore
22:29 Tom_itx due to a name conflict with someone else
22:30 Tom_itx i'd ask in the daytime though
22:30 katsmeow-afk nothing stays the same much, that's why it's called "The Whirled"
22:31 mutilator well then i'll poke them a bit
22:31 mutilator thanks
22:32 Tom_itx i've had a sherline for years but feel it's a bit small and lightweight
22:34 mutilator oh?
22:34 mutilator those seem to be the only lower cost ones i can find
22:34 mutilator other than the china stuff
22:35 Tom_itx such is life
22:51 rue_house no you leave out that thin breadlike stuff
22:53 Solarnrg Any Red Dwarf fans in here?
22:57 katsmeow-afk you asked that already
22:58 Solarnrg Answer is no because you're in Australia and they don't show it on TV there
22:59 katsmeow-afk i am not in aus
22:59 Solarnrg Singapore?
22:59 katsmeow-afk and it's bbc, so they prolly do show it here
23:00 Solarnrg Ok well I ask because I've been hard at work on a mod, please don't boot me for sharing a link I've slogged my guts out on this and I've made a "Starbug" mod from Red Dwarf https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOMwMwDVY1k
23:00 katsmeow-afk komputer anda telah telah dijangkit dengan virus, sila membersihkan MIRC anda , not i am not in Singapore
23:00 Solarnrg Sorry I'm rubbish at locating people
23:10 rue_house !time
23:10 tobbor My watch says its 09:00PM Tue Oct 02 2012
23:10 rue_house there was a power blink sometime last night
23:42 katsmeow-afk heh:
23:42 katsmeow-afk Samsung made some hard drives that are legendarily reliable... but they were bought by Seagate last year, and now your mileage may vary as the two companies integrate. :-(
23:42 katsmeow-afk Hitachi made some of the most reliable drives I have every owned and worked with in a server environment... But Western Digital just acquired Hitachi's storage business.
23:42 katsmeow-afk Basically, corporations merge the way most people who cheat on their spouse do things: The worse company buys the better one and ruins it completely. K-Mart buying Sears... is that enough of an example?
23:42 katsmeow-afk /heh
23:57 rue_house your right of course
23:57 rue_house maxtor used to make drives with lifetime warrantys
23:59 rue_house I have a fijitsu 5400 rpm that hands down beat a 7200rpm maxtor in transfer rate
23:59 rue_house dosn't matter how big the cache is if your media transfer rate sucks
