20:55 rue_livingroom no constaining pcb?
20:55 rue_livingroom prolly a good idea
20:56 rue_livingroom not doing little loops from the leads tho eh?
20:56 katsmeow-afk on this much heat, i was concened about thermal stresses on the pins, cause i'd be mounting the pcb right on the transistors' cases, this way they have airflow, and i don;t haveto demount all if one goes bad
20:56 katsmeow-afk there's enough bendy, i tested before i settled on the layout
20:57 katsmeow-afk it's gonna be a rats nest when done tho
21:00 katsmeow-afk the wire is stranded too, bendy
21:01 rue_livingroom you could do one little pcb for each pin :)
21:01 rue_livingroom they are ok to pcb's if you ___n___ the leads as a stress relief
21:02 katsmeow-afk and then lay out a pcb too
21:03 katsmeow-afk i know it can be done 100 other ways, and some of those ways are better in some ways, i recommend if you can, you go that way :-)
21:04 Tom_itx umm rue_livingroom
21:04 Tom_itx their files come with a bash script to install
21:05 rue_livingroom Tom_itx, do I have to do it to prove to you it wont work either?
21:06 rue_livingroom :)
21:06 Tom_itx you got nothing to prove to me
21:06 katsmeow-afk does furry?
21:06 Tom_itx i just happened to find the files
21:07 rue_livingroom its frustrating that I'm being held up on my reprap cause avrtools wont compile
21:07 atom1 gcc 4.6.2
21:07 katsmeow-afk that's how i feel about a pcb for this psu, if i was set up to make them, i might
21:08 katsmeow-afk but i'd be conceend for airflow anyhow
21:08 rue_livingroom we should get you set up anyhow
21:09 rue_livingroom have any plexiglass?
21:09 atom1 ok i have all the files
21:15 rue_livingroom all?
21:15 rue_livingroom why isn't it one package?
21:15 katsmeow-afk yeas
21:26 Tom_itx would you like a peek?
21:31 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~tom-itx/AVR-GCC/SOURCES.README
21:31 rue_livingrm the arduino environment has the exact same error
21:31 rue_livingrm In file included from /usr/local/avr/lib/gcc/avr/4.6.3/../../../../avr/include/util/delay.h:44:0,
21:31 rue_livingrm from /usr/local/avr/lib/gcc/avr/4.6.3/../../../../avr/include/avr/delay.h:37,

21:31 rue_livingrm /usr/local/avr/lib/gcc/avr/4.6.3/../../../../avr/include/math.h:426:15: error: expected ')' before '>=' token
21:31 rue_livingrm its a call to round() with no paramiter
21:31 rue_livingrm damn
21:31 rue_livingrm all that didn't help at all
21:32 Tom_itx there's a readme if you're curious
21:33 rue_livingrm this isn't a problem with the avr toolset
21:33 rue_livingrm its a problem with the arduino libraries
21:34 Tom_itx this is why one does not rely on else one's libs
21:34 rue_livingrm the arduino library set must be seperate
21:34 rue_livingrm maybe this is a compiler version problem
21:35 rue_livingrm I wonder if I can work out what gcc version the olld machine was using
21:35 rue_livingrm its quite common for gcc to change things that make code not compile with newer compiler versions
21:36 rue_livingrm I'm gonna stuff this project away a while
21:36 Tom_itx it's the linux way
21:36 rue_livingrm I got 4 packages today
21:36 rue_livingrm lets open one
21:37 rue_livingrm its an antistatic stra!
21:38 rue_livingrm cool, the clip is via bannana jack
21:38 rue_livingrm so I can plug itinto the scope ground
21:39 Tom_itx how do you uninstall something in linux?
21:39 Tom_itx i hate that stupid open scad
21:40 rue_livingrm :) I dont like it eather
21:41 rue_livingrm apt-get remove
21:42 Tom_itx i wonder if it's in the package manager
21:42 Tom_itx yeah that was simple
21:55 rue_livingrm its irrelivent
21:56 rue_livingrm nothing in the avr toolchange will change the fact that arduino wont compile the reprap firmware
21:56 rue_livingrm unless maybe its cause of hte gcc version
22:02 Tom_itx what ver does arduino need?
22:05 rue_livingrm I dunno
22:06 rue_livingrm to compile the reprap firmware you CANNOT user the newest version of 'arduino' you have to use 0.23
22:11 Tom_itx but what avrgcc was that compiled with
22:12 rue_livingrm it wasn't
22:12 rue_livingrm arduino uses the avr utils on the system
22:15 rue_livingrm as much as I never feel I'm using my second monitor, not having it is frustrating
22:16 rue_livingrm ugh, I have to go to the shop to start up freebee5
22:16 rue_livingrm what happened to starting machines by issueing the mac address 16 times?
22:17 rue_livingrm hmm I have robotics tommorow, I dont know if the shop is a mess
22:17 rue_livingrm going out to start up a machine could take a long time
22:20 katsmeow-afk wierd, there's a tiny thunderstorm i can hear nearby, this late at nite
22:20 rue_shop3 oooooh dear...
22:25 katsmeow-afk do you think running 4 #18 wires from the TIP3x to the front panel is a lil excessive?
22:26 tsmeow-afk looks for somethng sma
22:27 Tom_itx i used 18 on mine
22:28 rue_livingrm na
22:32 katsmeow-afk hmm
22:34 katsmeow-afk i got 18 and 16
22:35 katsmeow-afk running 4 wires in ppaarralleell, rated 8amp psu, all i really need is 24
22:37 rue_livingrm ok, debian stable's gcc works without that error
22:37 rue_livingrm so why not the one I compiled
22:38 rue_livingrm stable is running gcc 4.3.5
22:42 Tom_itx this is 4.6.2
22:44 tsmeow-afk complains to rue about not using a pcb on this pro
22:50 rue_livingrm !!?
22:51 rue_livingrm your work looks good, its a situation where a pcb is more liable to fail than direct connections,
22:51 rue_livingrm I was making random comments, I didn't intend to upset you
22:51 katsmeow-afk i knoe
22:52 katsmeow-afk i was being ironic
22:52 rue_livingrm but would you like me to work with you to make an etching setup so you have it when you need it?
22:52 rue_livingrm me slowly spins his head
22:52 katsmeow-afk i'd still haveto lay copper wire over th etraces to get more amp capacity anyhow
22:53 katsmeow-afk i have: plasstic etch tank for peroxide, peroxide, acid, air bubbler, aquarium heater, copper clad pcb
22:53 katsmeow-afk somewhat short on time, and an outside ventilated place
22:54 katsmeow-afk you know i had all that stuff, and bought two stools to sit on in the outbuildings on that fla property, and THEN he said i could not put a floor in those buildings, and the stools sank into the sand when sat on?
22:54 rue_livingrm ooooo
22:55 rue_livingrm so then what do you have for a resist system?
22:55 katsmeow-afk some green stuff?
22:55 rue_livingrm dunno, what do you have in mind?
22:56 rue_livingrm I know of ink resist, solder resist, photo resist, and toner transfer
22:56 katsmeow-afk i have not looked at it since Sept last yr, i forget
22:57 katsmeow-afk it as an iron on stuff
22:58 rue_livingrm you know I use an xy plotter with sharpie pens?
23:00 katsmeow-afk i know you tried it
23:00 rue_livingrm no thats what I use
23:00 katsmeow-afk you know i have an HP plotter?
23:00 rue_livingrm xy or scroll
23:00 katsmeow-afk or maybe it's a Tek, i forget
23:00 katsmeow-afk xp
23:00 katsmeow-afk xy
23:00 rue_livingrm oooo how big?
23:01 rue_livingrm I have some dos softwrae you could use with a shapie to plot resist
23:01 rue_livingrm its an old program , but if you save often, you dont lose work when it crashes
23:01 katsmeow-afk i think it's 12x12
23:01 e_livingrm
23:01 rue_livingrm well that works
23:01 rue_livingrm can I send you a zip?
23:02 katsmeow-afk but you don't know my model number yet
23:05 katsmeow-afk ok, got all 8 bases wired up to the top, got 4 output voltage lines off the collectors... 5 more to go, and then the emitter resistors!
23:07 rue_livingrm I love being able to open a browser up thats really running on another machine and download a file it needs, from the livingroom lazyboy
23:08 rue_livingrm now I just have to work out what machine I was on when I did it
23:08 rue_livingrm somewhere there is a file I downloaded
23:13 katsmeow-afk one set of bases wired : http://designerthinking.com/images/benchpsu/DSCF2934m.jpg
23:14 katsmeow-afk both sets of bases , plus all collectors wired : http://designerthinking.com/images/benchpsu/DSCF2935m.jpg
23:14 e_livingrm
23:14 katsmeow-afk [20:46] <katsmeow-afk> it's gonna be a rats nest when done tho
23:20 rue_livingrm I'm sure it wont be that good, there is a good engineer behind it
23:21 katsmeow-afk it won't be that good?
23:22 katsmeow-afk afk to put food in nuke box and get plotter number
23:27 rue_livingrm oh damn
23:27 rue_livingrm you know I didn't mean that right
23:27 rue_livingrm I have to pay a bit more attention
23:27 rue_livingrm its supposed to day
23:27 rue_livingrm I'm sure it wont be that bad, there is a good engineer behind it
23:27 katsmeow-afk Tek 4662 w/opt 31
23:27 katsmeow-afk i got the owner manual
23:42 katsmeow-afk http://www.google.com/search?q=Tektronix+plotter+4662+w%2Fopt+31
23:42 rue_livingrm oooo a fresh copy of the reprap software compiles
23:44 furrywolf2 hate... internet... connection...
23:46 katsmeow-afk 2nd heatsink done, cept for the emitter resistors, of course
23:47 rrywolf2 lapwolfys katsmeow-
23:47 tsmeow-afk drops the wire strippers on the wolfy
23:48 furrywolf2 meep!
23:49 katsmeow-afk btw, you do not want a wolf as a pet, they don't "do" pet, they do family, you'll be getting a lover (or an enemy), and forget finding a vet
23:50 rue_livingrm odd
23:50 rue_livingrm ok well that invalidates a weeks work and gets me on the step I wanted to be on
23:51 katsmeow-afk hmm?
23:51 furrywolf2 wolf hybrids are pretty common around here... most seem to be pretty nice, and no problems with vets. but, yes, I like an animal with a mind of its own... people who think pets should be like toys that they can stick in the closet when they're bored with them should not be allowed to have pets.
23:52 katsmeow-afk i agree, part of the reason i refused to have those cats in Fla
23:55 katsmeow-afk when i have high voltage or a hot soldering iron, i said i would lock the cats out of the room, and people were horrified by that
23:56 furrywolf2 people treat pets as objects, not family members... and that's not ok.
23:56 katsmeow-afk there's too much shit going on here and there, and i am building a boat, among other things, and the cats should never be outside, so a place to lock them up?
23:57 katsmeow-afk furry, if i had a 2yr old human, i'd still lock them out of the room where the 500F soldering iron and hih voltage is
23:57 furrywolf2 yep, and that's ok.
23:57 katsmeow-afk so how is doing that to a cat *not* treating it with care, like a human family?
23:57 furrywolf2 but thinking a pet doesn't need love, attention, doing things,..
23:57 katsmeow-afk well, i got yelled at
23:59 katsmeow-afk so anyhoo, a wolf is so not a dog
23:59 tsmeow-afk has known
23:59 furrywolf2 wolves seem to make very good family members
