00:01 katsmeow-afk or you have a really gummy hydraulic lifter
00:03 furrywolf I don't want to spend too much effort on this engine... it's underpowered and inefficient. if I drop in a diesel, I can get more power and more than twice the milage.
00:04 tsmeow-afk shall not force you to work o
00:04 furrywolf I have all the tools needed to rebuild it, including both a valve grinder and a valve seat grinder if I wanted to do the valves too... but I don't. heh.
00:05 katsmeow-afk my D:\ has 217,279 unique \pathnames\
00:08 katsmeow-afk http://themetapicture.com/you-are-now-aware-that-the-viper-logo-is-daffy-ducks-face-upside-down/
00:17 furrywolf bbl, plane here
01:49 rrywolf flops over for bed
01:55 ckkitten tucks furrywolf
01:59 furrywolf :)
01:59 furrywolf bbl
03:10 hackkitten :3
03:25 rue_mohr I'm closer on my system fix
03:25 rue_mohr almost have all the packages upgraded
03:37 Triffid_Hunter rue_mohr: I provide belt guides in my kits, they fit together great.. they are a tricky print though, others have difficulty getting them right!
05:10 GuShH http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoBGau9623I
10:59 rue_mohr hopefully I get X fixed today
10:59 rue_mohr to some level
11:00 rue_mohr sirdancealot making a dancing robot?
11:08 Tom_itx so rue_mohr what we doin today?
11:18 rue_mohr working on a rubix cube manpulating robot
11:22 rue_mohr huh, libjpeg is both required and conflicts with libsdl-mage
11:22 rue_mohr image
11:27 zhanx rue?
11:27 zhanx rue_mohr: ?
11:34 rrywolf wakes up to being squashed by a hackkitten! m
11:35 rue_mohr yes?
11:35 zhanx check your university
11:37 hackkitten mew :3
11:39 rrywolf bets hackkitten is one of those kittens that crawls onto people's heads while they're slee
11:39 ckkitten looks all innoc
11:40 furrywolf :P
11:40 rue_mohr ok...
11:41 rue_mohr I'm almost finished the upgrade on this machine, I justhave to do postgres, which has to be done REALLY carefull
11:41 tsmeow-afk whispers mews at hackki
11:41 GuShH bleh the window regulator on the driver's side has 3 missing teeth :( I feared as much... but I kept hoping it was just a bent rod
11:41 ckkitten huggles katsmeow-af
11:44 furrywolf window regulators tend to be pretty easy to find, unless it's a rare vehicle.
11:44 GuShH I wonder if I could take it to a shop so they can flood it with steel and I can just grind new teeth on
11:44 GuShH furrywolf: japanese car in argentina
11:44 GuShH good luck to me, probably only available parts are stolen... which I'm ok with, I just need to find them.
11:44 furrywolf depending on the design, beware the spring.
11:44 GuShH yep
11:44 katsmeow-afk i hope to be able to find the ones in my car soon, in the trash, they are currently in the car doors
11:44 GuShH not sure I can take out the motor from the rest of the assembly
11:44 GuShH does katsmeow-afk still got me on ignore?
11:45 furrywolf some have a big strong spring waiting to take off a finger or two, or at least make putting it back together exceptionally annoying.
11:45 GuShH furrywolf: idealy it would be cheaper if I could spare the motor and gearbox
11:45 katsmeow-afk there's an app for that
11:45 GuShH furrywolf: I'll upload pics one sec
11:45 katsmeow-afk er, tool
11:45 furrywolf k
11:46 GuShH the missing teeth are from the top end, which suggests someone tried to force the window open
11:46 furrywolf the window regulators on the postal jeep I'm working on are probably the simplest design ever... there's a spring that pushes up on the bottom of the glass, and a handle in the glass. you just slide it up and down with the handle. no gears...
11:46 GuShH I don't think the window binding on the rubber could do this
11:47 GuShH at any rate now that I adjusted it at least it catches on the remaining teeth and you can't push the window open anymore by hand, which was scary.
11:47 GuShH doesn't get any easier than that when it comes to stealing a car, if the window is easily pushed down...
11:47 katsmeow-afk and that's a "regulator"
11:47 GuShH http://gushh.net/tmp/regulator1.jpg -- http://gushh.net/tmp/regulator2.jpg -- http://gushh.net/tmp/regulator3.jpg --
11:48 GuShH surprisingly the rest is fine, all the teflon bushings are fine...
11:49 katsmeow-afk damn, am i on everyone's ignore list now?
11:49 furrywolf katsmeow-afk: no
11:49 GuShH katsmeow-afk: not on mine... but I think I'm on yours, so this message is pointless.
11:49 ShH s
11:49 katsmeow-afk oops
11:49 katsmeow-afk hi furry
11:49 furrywolf wow, that's an ugly assembley.
11:49 GuShH blame Honda.
11:50 GuShH they are notorious for bending, at least when they have a hand crank
11:50 GuShH people force them and it gives up, those two thin channels just curl up.
11:50 GuShH or the arms just buckle
11:51 atom1 stamped gear from chinese steel
11:51 GuShH the teeth should be twice as thick.
11:51 furrywolf if the damage is right at the very top, I'd suspect it's from opening it with the glass stuck to the rubber, and from the normal stopping every time you roll it up...
11:51 GuShH with this material.
11:51 furrywolf have a welder?
11:51 GuShH not mig nor tig
11:51 GuShH thought about having it flooded and then just grind new teeth on
11:52 furrywolf or just cut the unused bit a little past that off and weld it in place of the missing teeth
11:52 GuShH should visit local repair shops to see if they'll do it, unless I can find a cheap spare.
11:52 GuShH only have SMAW and I don't think I dare.
11:52 furrywolf that looks like it might have flexxed and started skipping, then wore down.
11:53 furrywolf check for bent bits elsewhere
11:53 GuShH I really just want a spare, fixing this may not be a permanent solution
11:54 GuShH the spring looks scary.
11:54 furrywolf why's it have teeth on both sides?
11:54 GuShH no clue, I think it's for the hand-crank version
11:54 furrywolf is the other side for a manual crank? just stick one in. :)
11:54 GuShH lol
11:55 ShH idly eyes it and drills a hole through the door p
11:55 furrywolf the hole is already there ~99.9% of the time.
11:55 furrywolf at least, in the sheet metal.
11:55 GuShH I mean on the plastic panel that snaps on
11:56 GuShH yeah the metal side is all the same
11:56 GuShH one for all variants
11:56 furrywolf driver's window?
11:57 GuShH yep
11:57 furrywolf http://www.ebay.com/itm/96-2000-Honda-Power-Window-Regulator-/300742447669?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4605a59235&vxp=mtr is for passenger window, but that arm might be the same.
11:57 furrywolf or will it cost $500 to ship and likely vanish in customs?
11:57 GuShH thanks, can't order this sort of thing from eBay though.
11:58 GuShH yeah
11:58 GuShH theres a whole car district where I could probably find the part, I just need to find some phone numbers first, don't want to go over there for nothing
11:59 furrywolf I haven't been too impressed with hondas... the engines seem reliable, but everyone I know with one is always fixing something.
11:59 GuShH I could say the same about renault or ford :/
12:00 furrywolf yep
12:00 furrywolf I've been happy with subarus.
12:00 GuShH don't like honda from an engineering point of view, it's all retarded.
12:00 GuShH just having to lift the car or take the wheel off to replace the oil filter pisses me off
12:00 katsmeow-afk Hix Or Neplace Daily And Stuff
12:00 GuShH what the hell were they thinking
12:01 GuShH consumables should have an easy access, period.
12:01 GuShH furrywolf: engines are OK, although they all seem to sound bad after a few years, you can hear the valves and other nasties.
12:01 rrywolf looks at katsmeow-
12:01 furrywolf and none of the transmissions go into reverse without yanking the shifter several times
12:02 GuShH the steering is making a "woop woop" sound too.
12:02 katsmeow-afk well, mash the clutch a time or two and the tranny should shift
12:03 GuShH good luck with automatics
12:03 furrywolf dunno, never driven a honda auto.
12:03 ShH wants a vw golf or similar, doesn't have to be
12:03 furrywolf I don't like autos.
12:03 GuShH otherwise I've always wanted a pickup...
12:04 katsmeow-afk wow, considering Sparta Tn is in the middle of places, there's not a good way to get there from anywhere
12:04 GuShH can't carry stuff in a small car.
12:05 furrywolf you can have both... :P
12:06 furrywolf I have a car (a subaru station wagon) and a truck (jeep pickup).
12:06 katsmeow-afk the jeep needs a 8liter diesel
12:06 furrywolf yes, it does.
12:07 tsmeow-afk pictures the front bumber mashed to the ground and the rear wheel up in the
12:07 furrywolf I got the stock engine running a lot better after cleaning the needle, though... I'm still not sure why it was sticking how much this helped...
12:07 furrywolf eh, the stick I6 probably weighs about the same as your average V8. it's BIG.
12:07 furrywolf not in terms of displacement, just in terms of massive amounts of cast iron.
12:08 furrywolf also, it's a 1.5ton truck... it's got 4" thick spring packs.
12:08 furrywolf s/stick/stock
12:08 katsmeow-afk i got taller spring packs with broken leaves :-(
12:10 furrywolf the needle kept sticking both open and closed... the needle itself seemed fine as best as I could examine it... the needle seat, and the hollow part the needle slid in, had a weird rough finish. I don't know if it was erosion over time, deposits, or what... but I got some buffing compound out, and in about 30 seconds, brought it to a mirror finish... which seems to be working much better.
12:10 furrywolf I don't mean these are 4" lift springs... I mean they're 4" thick. 7 or 8 big thick leaves...
12:11 katsmeow-afk the F250 could carry 6000lbs (special build and tires, i got tickets) and no broken springs, and i got 2 GMC trucks with broken leaves
12:11 katsmeow-afk me too
12:11 furrywolf I've been pretty happy with ford trucks. they seem the best you can get... especially the '80s and early '90s ones.
12:12 tsmeow-afk
12:12 furrywolf I don't know what the actual "can carry" limit of my truck is... it's rated for 3000lbs in the back.
12:13 furrywolf but my experience is ratings are a lot less than actual limits.
12:13 furrywolf I've loaded it up enough that, even with the big wide tires at full pressure, they squished down two inches, and the springs were only halfway to the bump stops.
12:14 furrywolf I'd need to swap on duals in the back... I think the tires are the first limitation.
12:15 katsmeow-afk 8ply tires
12:16 katsmeow-afk gotot your tire dealerships, say the magic words "i don't care what it costs"
12:16 ShH wonders wheres his friggin air compressor, called at 8:30AM and it should've been on it's way since 9 ... it's 2PM
12:16 furrywolf http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tires/38-5x11-00R-16LT-TSL-Bogger-Tire.aspx?t_c=13&t_s=158&t_pt=100821&t_pl=3865&t_pn=SSTB-110 are what I currently have. they may not have the best load ability, but they're sure great for clawing up things...
12:16 katsmeow-afk dualies are more for getting sway stiffness and flat-tire-resistance, and payng more for tires anyhow
12:17 katsmeow-afk i had tires that looked like street-snow tires , less like mudgrips
12:18 katsmeow-afk truck sat level with the 8ft bed full up with gravel
12:18 furrywolf these are mud boggers. heh.
12:19 furrywolf I might need to replace one of them... it's bald, while the other three are perfect. I've moved it around twice now, and it keeps wearing faster than the others. I can only think the rubber was defective somehow.
12:20 furrywolf at $400 a pop, that pisses me off. heh.
12:20 katsmeow-afk ouch
12:20 katsmeow-afk yeas, my F250 tires were like $250 in 1983
12:20 katsmeow-afk they still paid for themselves
12:21 furrywolf this is why you don't say "I don't care what it costs". :)
12:21 katsmeow-afk no, i wanted them, i got use outa them, did things i could not have done otherwise, the truck held up better than i did overall
12:21 furrywolf I mean mine. heh.
12:22 katsmeow-afk yea, but you got mudboggers, they knew you were spending money on "fun tires"
12:23 furrywolf if I get a good deal on a crane for the bed, I might stick 44" tires on it. they're the largest you can fit without needing lift parts. but, I don't want the bed that much higher until I have a crane, as it'd be higher than I can lift heavy things.
12:23 katsmeow-afk they tried to sell me 6ply mudders, i said nope, i said "max plys, 85psi or higher"
12:23 katsmeow-afk you don't put 85psi in mudgrips
12:24 furrywolf nope. you air them down to 10psi so the thin flexible sidewalls wrap around stuff and grab tight. :)
12:24 Tom_itx with bead locks of course
12:24 katsmeow-afk right, i wanted a whole different animal on my rims
12:24 furrywolf yep. if I had a spare set of rims, I'd get some good truck tires on them. driving these on the street is just a waste.
12:24 GuShH what crawled up that guy's ass to shoot people in a cinema the other day?
12:25 GuShH and also rig his place with explosives
12:25 furrywolf Tom_itx: nah, you can do 10psi without beadlocks... but don't go lower.
12:25 katsmeow-afk i didn't have a duallie, but i wanted as little sway as possible going down the 55mph road with 3 tons in my F250
12:25 Tom_itx i wouldn't recomend it
12:25 furrywolf worst that'd happen is you spin the tire and break the valve stem off the tube.
12:25 katsmeow-afk Tom, you just don't turn tight corners on pavement, or hit anything while sliding, or you're right, you'll lose a tire
12:29 furrywolf http://www.eco4wd.com/Faqsftp/StaunBeadLockHow.htm I want a set of those.
12:30 zhanx those are nice
12:30 zhanx i always wanted a set of them
12:30 furrywolf I'm not sure if I can make them work with my tube rims, though.
12:31 zhanx you can
12:31 zhanx seen it
12:31 Tom_itx nascar uses those
12:31 furrywolf and you can't get any other kind of rims for my truck.
12:31 Tom_itx on some tracks
12:31 zhanx just a pita to change the tube
12:31 furrywolf zhanx: how do you get the valve stem past the beadlock?
12:31 zhanx there is a dipple on some of them, call on them
12:32 katsmeow-afk a determined real man would make new rims to fit any tire he wanted, it's just stamped steel
12:32 tsmeow-afk d
12:32 zhanx he would turn them on a lathe if he was a real man
12:32 katsmeow-afk yea
12:32 zhanx using his legs to power the lathe
12:32 zhanx and his finger nails to cut the steel
12:33 furrywolf good thing I've never claimed to be a man.
12:33 tsmeow-afk doesn't type what she was thin
12:33 zhanx same here
12:38 furrywolf weather is, of course, fog and drizzle, like the last MONTH AND A HALF... might go look for some yard sales anyway.
12:38 furrywolf I can barely remember what sun looks like.
12:38 furrywolf I haven't seen it in ages!
12:38 katsmeow-afk OR, install the plumbing you already have?
12:39 furrywolf I hate working in drizzle. hate, hate, hate.
12:39 katsmeow-afk plumbing inside
12:39 furrywolf it soaks in to every part of your body
12:39 katsmeow-afk indoor plumbing
12:39 katsmeow-afk it's the latest thing
12:39 furrywolf that's mostly there... didn't get tweakered. they removed everything under the house, but the lines from the sinks down to the floor are still intact.
12:40 furrywolf the next project is getting the water heater in, which involves enlarging the door in the side of the house.
12:40 katsmeow-afk so the lines are homes for bugs?
12:40 furrywolf bbl.
12:42 katsmeow-afk .
12:51 tsmeow-afk ponders using 74LCX74 with a few resistors, vcc-vee-shifted down to +2v/-1v , to drive lvds eye patterns into 1.8v sstl c
12:52 katsmeow-afk or 2.5v/0.5v
12:52 katsmeow-afk or 2.5v/-0.5v
12:52 katsmeow-afk i need breakfast, bbl
12:52 katsmeow-afk and lunhc
14:43 rue_mohr all good
14:43 rue_mohr we made wrists for a rubiks cube solver
14:43 rue_mohr learned new payout techniques
14:43 rue_mohr layout
14:44 Tom_itx good stuff
15:19 e_mohr peers over katsmeow-afk shou
15:19 rue_mohr need a base for a grider stand...
15:19 e_mohr looks around for rim
15:19 katsmeow-afk what's a grider stand?
15:19 rue_mohr a pedistal for the bench grinder
15:20 e_mohr takes a good look at the rims on kats t
15:20 rue_mohr hmmm
15:20 katsmeow-afk oh,, get a flat bald tire on a bent rim at tire shop for $10, fill it with concrete, leave mine alone
15:20 katsmeow-afk remind them you are helping them so they don't need to pay a disposal fee
15:20 e_mohr checks how tight the nuts are on kats truc
15:21 katsmeow-afk 12 nuts, impact wrench tight
15:21 rue_mohr hmm more than finger tight....
15:21 e_mohr wanders off to toms t
15:21 katsmeow-afk personally, i hate grinders on pedistals, they aren't stable no matter how much weight is on the base
15:23 katsmeow-afk and something able to impart so much force if they grab the workpiece, i want stable
15:23 katsmeow-afk and if you use it to sharpen blades, you want it accurate, meaning it isn't wobbling
15:24 katsmeow-afk ymmv
15:24 rue_mohr katsmeow-afk what if I set a concrete pad?
15:24 rue_mohr I could do that today
15:24 rue_mohr make it flush with the ground so its not in the way
15:24 katsmeow-afk if it's on a big enough steel column, sure
15:25 katsmeow-afk and grind outside? the neighbors will luv you
15:25 rue_mohr I have a 4" square steel post
15:25 rue_mohr with a 1/4" top plate
15:25 rue_mohr I dont grind heavy stuff, just drill bits, blades, and threaded rod
15:26 rue_mohr usually I just sit it in the dirt
15:26 rue_mohr if I put it on the table in the shop it walks
15:26 e_mohr chases the gridnder around the table trying to sharpen a k
15:26 katsmeow-afk cut a hole in your workshop slab, in the area reserved for dirty work, pound it 4ft down past the slab, and infill with cement , mortar, or epoxy
15:27 katsmeow-afk visegrips, C-clamps
15:27 katsmeow-afk put a beam on the posts so you can also mount an anvil
15:28 katsmeow-afk if it's strong enough, you can fasten your drill press to it to keep it from walking too
15:28 rue_mohr the drill press is ok
15:28 katsmeow-afk then later, the mecha can use it to do exercises on
15:28 rue_mohr the vise and grinder would be nice
15:29 rue_mohr hmm
15:29 Tom_itx mine dont have a tire or concrete
15:29 Tom_itx just a rim and steel post
15:29 katsmeow-afk i hate it when a vise is firmly bolted to a table that's free to be slung around the shop
15:29 e_mohr tries to remmeber whats burried, aside from power cable, under the front of the
15:29 Tom_itx you took pics you silly boy
15:29 rue_mohr katsmeow-afk that problem partly exists with the current vise arrangement
15:30 rue_mohr I cant post pics, I dont have x to slect them
15:30 katsmeow-afk no, YOU look at the pics to remember where you put things
15:30 rue_mohr oh there is an air line too
15:30 rue_mohr ah, right
15:30 rue_mohr I cant see them, x is down
15:30 katsmeow-afk yse y ?
15:31 katsmeow-afk turn the puter 90 degrees, use Z
15:31 rue_mohr x is the gui
15:31 katsmeow-afk </joke>
15:31 rue_mohr :)
15:31 rue_mohr the reprap is comming along great
15:31 rue_mohr tho I'm sad at the number of peices that require tweeking
15:32 katsmeow-afk do you see any real problems for me using only english filenames and saving in 7-bit ascii ?
15:32 rue_mohr no
15:32 katsmeow-afk k
15:33 katsmeow-afk cause i have to many 32k rams which i can use as comparators, but not enough 64k/128k/256k/512k static rams
15:35 katsmeow-afk i have drams, but you know how complicated those can get
15:36 rue_mohr man talking on more than one channel in a non-windowed env. is a lot of work
15:36 rue_mohr comparitors for what kat?
15:36 katsmeow-afk 7bit ascii strings
15:36 rue_mohr ah
15:37 Tom_itx no pics no reprap
15:37 Tom_itx prove it
15:37 katsmeow-afk i have just enough to make a small massively parallel 8bit comparator thingie
15:37 rue_mohr hah
15:37 rue_mohr thanks
15:38 katsmeow-afk rue, why can't you just clone what gui you need from one of the other puters?
15:38 Tom_itx we back up what we brag on here
15:39 m_itx high 5's kat for the hell o
15:39 tsmeow-afk jumps up to catch the h
15:39 rue_mohr :)
15:39 rue_mohr I have to take a bunch of stuff to the e-waste place
15:40 tsmeow-afk low 5's Tom back because can brak on the html/css wrapping of our pics
15:40 rue_mohr before its too late
15:40 katsmeow-afk err, brag
15:40 rue_mohr I'm taking pics, I hope to have X up today
15:40 rue_mohr if not even just partly
15:41 m_itx doesn't think rue_mohr knows how to d
15:41 katsmeow-afk ok, i go back outside to do more things
15:41 m_itx tries lighting a fire under rue_
15:46 ferdna my bike inner tube reads: 26 x 1.75 / 2.125... does that mean i can use any tube that is in between 1.75 to 2.125... or what does the 2.125 mean?
15:47 Tom_itx i would think so
15:47 Tom_itx it will stretch some
15:47 Tom_itx just don't try putting it in a car tire. it won't stretch that much
15:48 Tom_itx that's only 3/8"
15:48 GuShH ferdna: maybe radius and then internal and external dimension?
15:49 GuShH well not radius, the size of the "tyre" it's meant for
15:49 Tom_itx diameter
15:49 ferdna http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004FUQG9K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
15:49 GuShH although it does start with R
15:49 ferdna will that work with my bike?
15:49 GuShH for instance a tiny scooter may use R10
15:50 GuShH but perhaps that's just a spanish thing
15:50 Tom_itx ferdna it's just not meant for a touring bike where they have really skinny tires
15:50 Tom_itx more for your average bike of that diameter rim
15:51 ferdna this is the bike
15:51 ferdna http://www.walmart.com/ip/Genesis-Saber-26-Mountain-Bike/16685766
15:51 Tom_itx it will fit
15:51 GuShH ferdna: get your bike manual...
15:51 GuShH it's stated there.
15:51 GuShH otherwise look at the side of the tyre itself
15:52 GuShH and you'll get enough information.
15:52 Tom_itx umm why not get a tube from walmart for a couple bucks?
15:52 GuShH including a date code in most cases.
15:52 Tom_itx instead of spending 9?
15:52 GuShH yeah 10 bucks for that is too much
15:52 GuShH 9.97 = 10
15:52 Tom_itx uh huh
15:53 GuShH ferdna: have you ever changed one? :p
15:53 ferdna nope
15:53 ferdna when i was kid
15:53 Tom_itx that's so easy
15:53 ferdna i had those kid bicycles
15:53 GuShH I recently changed the tube on a tiny R10 for a QR50 (small dirtbike by honda) it was hell.
15:53 GuShH but mountain bikes are easy
15:53 GuShH the rubber is a lot thinner and softer
15:53 ferdna i already removed the tube and everything
15:53 GuShH you just push the tyre to the side of the rim
15:53 DagoRed motorcycles of anykind are always a pain.
15:53 Tom_itx i peel em off by hand
15:53 DagoRed Or car that is.
15:53 ferdna i just need to get the right size tube to replace
15:53 GuShH put the valve in, then slide the tube
15:53 ferdna i got a compressor and everything else
15:54 GuShH DagoRed: yeah cars... I never tried, you gotta push it off the rim
15:54 Tom_itx GuShH i tend to put the tube in the tire first and inflate it very slightly
15:54 Tom_itx then put the stem in first
15:54 Tom_itx AFTER CHECKING THE TIRE FOR STICKERS!!
15:54 GuShH I just push the rim to the side and I've got enough space to work and make sure the tube is laid out correctly
15:54 Tom_itx or you'll be doing it all again
15:54 GuShH Tom_itx: or any stuff inside
15:55 GuShH dirt, pebble...
15:55 Tom_itx yeah
15:55 DagoRed GuShH, if you have the damn tool you're fine. Also... balancing wheels is a pain but I have never done that for any bicycle before.
15:55 GuShH people wonder why the tube doesn't last very long, it's often because of that.
15:55 Tom_itx sometimes i add some baby powder to the tube too
15:55 Tom_itx talc
15:56 GuShH heh and check for obvious nails too.
15:57 DagoRed How many people have messed around with infrared communications on a microcontroller around here that can provide some advice?
15:58 Tom_itx we just fix bicycle tires here
15:58 ace4016 you mean like how remotes work? i have :P
15:59 ace4016 could technically do it a bit more analog and transmit sound via line of sight, but that doesn't require a uC
15:59 DagoRed Sure Tom... and the fact I bought an atmel programmer from you before means that was all about the mountain bike.
15:59 Tom_itx aww damn. you got me there
16:00 DagoRed ace4016, what I want is to build something for my father. I bought him a new TV that only has digital out audio out. I want to build a basic volume control for his old stereo.
16:01 DagoRed So demodulation is needed. But of course, I have questions like how how stable of a clock I will need for the receiving device.
16:02 ace4016 clock can be anything; for remotes, you'll want to use an IR receiver does the demodulating for you
16:02 ace4016 they sell them in all sorts of flavors
16:02 DagoRed Demodulation probably isn't the proper word but I'm just figuring out how cheaply and simply and I can build this device. Before I bought the new TV and the needed digital to analog converter, the analog out of the TV was volume controlled so it wasn't a problem.
16:02 ace4016 you end up with a low bitrate signal the uC can decode
16:03 DagoRed I wanted to make it myself for a challenge. But the question is could one use an Atmega 328 with the internal clock or will a resonator (or crystal) be needed?
16:04 Tom_itx you can get modulated ir
16:04 Tom_itx modules
16:04 ace4016 you won't need a crystal
16:05 DagoRed Ok, thank you. Resonator I assume then?
16:05 ace4016 the signal is typically just a flashing IR light that flashes in patterns, like flash at 32kHz for x ms, then stop for y ms
16:06 ace4016 i think the atmega is fast enough as is to do most of it :P
16:06 ace4016 you're not actually doing fiber optics type stuff
16:06 DagoRed Right, and they're sent via a PWM so they don't blow out the LED.
16:07 ace4016 mm...that's not why
16:07 DagoRed I'm just worried about jitter since the air register will be blowing on the damn chip.
16:07 DagoRed Then why?
16:07 DagoRed Overall reduced power consumption?
16:07 ace4016 IR radiation is all around us, so it's difficult to see a small little light; so you flash it instead
16:07 DagoRed Ahh.
16:08 ace4016 flash it at a rate that is fairly unnatural so you don't confuse it with a natural source
16:08 ace4016 as some IR sources do naturally flucuate
16:08 DagoRed Got it. But nothing that boosting the detector and a low pass filter well below the rate of flashing can't fix right?
16:08 DagoRed Sorry, high pass filter.
16:09 goRed was thinking low
16:09 ace4016 are you going to make a remote for it yourself?
16:10 DagoRed Well, my father.
16:10 ace4016 actually...
16:10 ace4016 there's that wbesite that's all about this stuff
16:10 DagoRed Ideally I'd have a microcontroller taking commands from an infrared source that I would program then have it control a server to manually press a button up or down.
16:11 ace4016 do you know how remotes work in general?
16:11 DagoRed general yes
16:12 DagoRed time delay for 1's and 0's.
16:13 ace4016 that's basically what you'd be replicating; your remote would basically output IR that modulates in whatever scheme you'd like and the MCU just has to be aware of what the bitstream looks like
16:13 DagoRed PWM runs at one frequency, the PWM is turned on and off. .6us for a 0 and 1.2us for a 1 I think...
16:13 ace4016 yea, that's a fairl simple scheme
16:13 rue_mohr hey
16:14 DagoRed I'll admit, I also want to build another one for a ghetto scope. I want to be able to record some of signals for future projects.
16:14 ace4016 not sure how much you want to do this from scratch...as they sell little modules that can pick up the type of signals remotes put out
16:14 rue_mohr ace4016 serial data, carefully timed
16:14 goRed
16:14 ace4016 aye, i know :P
16:14 rue_mohr I have avr code for a ir reciever if youwant
16:14 rue_mohr i use a hardware timer to count the length of the pulses
16:14 DagoRed Same with stop bits and all if one wants. But who really wants to use parallel on infrared?
16:14 rue_mohr no, its special encoding
16:15 rue_mohr its not standard serial
16:15 rue_mohr iirc its 12 bit, with no start or stop
16:15 DagoRed I'd love some of the reception code.
16:15 DagoRed Or parity check.
16:15 rue_mohr it might be on my site
16:15 rue_mohr try
16:15 rue_mohr !assist avr
16:15 tobbor Possibly http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/avr
16:15 DagoRed thanks
16:15 rue_mohr or !assist tutorials/prog/
16:16 rue_mohr !assist tutorials/prog/
16:16 tobbor Possibly http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/prog/
16:16 rue_mohr :)
16:16 rue_mohr back in a few hours
16:16 DagoRed I'll admit.... it's nice to look at this stuff again. My job had devoured my life and left me programming with vbscript and not asp.net
16:16 DagoRed later, rue_mohr
16:17 ace4016 heh
16:17 goRed hates his
16:17 DagoRed I remember speaking to rue about that. While I'm glad my hobby isn't my job, this job blows.
16:19 DagoRed ace4016, thanks for your help!
16:21 ace4016 np
16:25 DagoRed Where is orlok these days?
16:26 DagoRed Besides sleeping because he's in Australia......
17:15 ace4016 no idea, but kats and rue think i am orlok :P
17:16 rue_mohr ace4016 you crazy auzies
17:16 ace4016 lol
17:17 delkin What drill bits do you think are the most important for pcb milling? I am thinking about 0.2, 0.3, 0.8, 1.0 and 2.0 [mm]. Would you suggest something else?
17:18 rue_mohr delkin #57 and 1/16" is all you need
17:18 rue_mohr correction
17:18 rue_mohr its all I'v ever ever needed
17:19 rue_mohr less screw holes, which are 9/64
17:19 ace4016 vias are smaller than throughholes though
17:19 ace4016 typically
17:21 rue_mohr ok I need to clear room in the shop for boxes for peoples projects
17:22 delkin rue_bed: Could you mill and arduino board with those 2 drill bits?
17:22 rue_mohr oh milling
17:22 rue_mohr sorry
17:23 rue_mohr I read drilling
17:25 delkin What is the most used drill bit size while milling an arduino like circuit?
18:31 Tom_itx delkin the one that fits the wire you need a hole for
18:55 rue_mohr theBear
18:57 Tom_itx theKitten
18:57 Tom_itx so
18:57 Tom_itx rue_mohr
18:57 Tom_itx can you tell me about this encoder sensor?
18:57 rue_mohr yes
18:57 rue_mohr I downloaded knoppix, lost it tho
18:58 Tom_itx i don't wanna plug it in to watch it fry
18:58 Tom_itx i wanna plug it in to use it
18:58 Tom_itx i'm goin out to make a mount for it right now
18:58 rue_mohr I lost a 700M downloaded file
18:58 rue_mohr oh right
18:59 Tom_itx that's kinda big to lose
18:59 rue_mohr have a picture posted of it?
18:59 rue_mohr 4 wires?
18:59 Tom_itx yeah
18:59 Tom_itx and yeah
18:59 rue_mohr ok
18:59 Tom_itx but not a good one
18:59 rue_mohr post the url, I'll switch computers
19:00 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/motors/stepper6.jpg
19:00 Tom_itx i can take another one if needed
19:00 Tom_itx the sensor has 2 pads on one side and 3 on the other
19:00 Tom_itx so one is a transistor
19:00 Tom_itx EE SX-315 is the mfg pn
19:00 Tom_itx Omron
19:01 Tom_itx can't find a data sheet for it
19:01 Tom_itx found one with 2 and 2 wires
19:01 Tom_itx goin out to cut a bracket
19:01 Tom_itx bak soon
19:03 Tom_itx if the pic doesn't load i'll reset stuff when i get back in
19:52 Tom_itx ok rue_mohr, i'm gonna put up a couple pics of it now
19:58 Tom_itx those suck, i'll take a couple more
20:04 katsmeow-afk lightning again
20:04 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/cnc/cnc_files/encoder1.jpg
20:04 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/cnc/cnc_files/encoder2.jpg
20:05 Tom_itx ok i need info on that sensor
20:05 katsmeow-afk thanks, cannot get a browser open
20:05 Tom_itx and yes katsmeow-afk i see the screw :)
20:05 Tom_itx aww sorry
20:05 katsmeow-afk can't open any hd access either, i see
20:06 Tom_itx where's all my help tonight :(
20:06 katsmeow-afk still no browser open
20:06 Tom_itx i'm gonna go reset the router
20:07 katsmeow-afk in a minute, i'll yank the power cord on this puter and start over
20:07 katsmeow-afk it's not your router
20:07 katsmeow-afk i cannot open anything
20:07 Tom_itx is too
20:07 Tom_itx it's giving me grief tonight
20:07 katsmeow-afk got k-meleon open
20:17 Tom_itx so now i sit and wait
20:17 katsmeow-afk for?
20:17 katsmeow-afk i still didn't get dinner
20:18 Tom_itx i was hoping rue would know about that sensor
20:18 Tom_itx i had lunch at 3 so i haven't either
20:18 Tom_itx mmm
20:18 Tom_itx come to think about it, i'm kinda hungry
20:18 katsmeow-afk yo can't put a ohmmmeeateracross one side and shine a flashlite at it?
20:19 Tom_itx it looks like a transistor on one side
20:19 Tom_itx it's one of those slotted optical sensors
20:19 katsmeow-afk yeas
20:19 katsmeow-afk yeas
20:19 katsmeow-afk what exactly did you wann aknow?
20:19 Tom_itx but the only sheet i can find has 2 and 2 legs not 2 and 3
20:20 katsmeow-afk so?
20:20 Tom_itx first i wonder if it will take the full 5v
20:20 katsmeow-afk what exactly did you wanna know?
20:20 katsmeow-afk oh
20:20 katsmeow-afk no
20:20 Tom_itx or if i should put a resistor on it
20:20 Tom_itx it's got 4 wires
20:20 Tom_itx white, red, black, blue
20:20 katsmeow-afk two, one on the led as a normal led has, and one on the transistor C or E , whichever way you going to use it int he circuit
20:20 Tom_itx i presume red, black are power
20:21 katsmeow-afk i would not presume that
20:21 Tom_itx well i'm wondering since etched in copper vcc is by the white one
20:21 Tom_itx A is by the blue one and G is by the black one
20:22 katsmeow-afk k,, goo chance either vcc or gnd goes to both sides
20:22 katsmeow-afk G ?
20:22 katsmeow-afk ok,, maybe Gnd
20:22 Tom_itx G does
20:22 furrywolf bleh. I need a part for my mower, and it seems the manufacturer is defunct. will have to fab it.
20:22 Tom_itx A goes to the other leg of the 2 legged side
20:22 Tom_itx anode?
20:23 Tom_itx cathode is gnd right?
20:23 katsmeow-afk i dunno
20:23 Tom_itx it is
20:23 furrywolf apparantly they got sued by some greedy personal injury lawyers representing people too stupid to work a lawnmower, and being a small company instead of a large corporation, they weren't able to fight it, and shut down instead.
20:23 furrywolf yay lawyers!
20:25 katsmeow-afk ah,, there's a schidt trigger in that package, Tom
20:25 katsmeow-afk schmidt
20:25 katsmeow-afk whatever
20:25 katsmeow-afk K = anode
20:25 katsmeow-afk oops
20:25 katsmeow-afk A = anode
20:25 katsmeow-afk K = Kathode
20:25 katsmeow-afk V = pwr
20:26 furrywolf lawyers are like zombies... they're best chopped into little pieces. bleh.
20:26 katsmeow-afk O = Ouptut
20:26 katsmeow-afk G = Gnd
20:26 Tom_itx maybe i should hook a 330 r across power
20:26 katsmeow-afk EE-SX3133
20:26 katsmeow-afk • Incorporates an IC chip with a built-in detector element and amplifier.
20:26 katsmeow-afk • Incorporates a detector element with a built-in temperature compensation
20:26 katsmeow-afk circuit.
20:26 katsmeow-afk • A wide supply voltage range: 4.5 to 16 VDC
20:26 katsmeow-afk • Directly connects with C-MOS and TTL.
20:27 katsmeow-afk Emitter Forward current IF 50 mA (see note 1)
20:27 katsmeow-afk Reverse voltage VR 4 V
20:27 Tom_itx this is EE SX315
20:27 katsmeow-afk Power supply
20:27 katsmeow-afk voltage
20:27 katsmeow-afk VCC 16 V
20:27 katsmeow-afk Output voltage VOUT 28 V
20:27 katsmeow-afk Output current IOUT 16 mA
20:27 Tom_itx if you can find it for me
20:27 tsmeow-afk throws it
20:27 Tom_itx ?
20:27 katsmeow-afk if i could get the part nimber you have, i wouldn't be reading you it's sister
20:27 Tom_itx is the 3133 similar to the 315?
20:27 Tom_itx oh
20:28 Tom_itx does it have any twins?
20:28 katsmeow-afk unknown
20:28 rrywolf wanders off, since no one wants to help with mowers and/or feeding lawyers into wood chip
20:30 Tom_itx katsmeow-afk, got a data sheet for me?
20:32 Tom_itx ok i found it
20:34 Tom_itx E08 series
20:38 katsmeow-afk Variant Part Numbers
20:38 katsmeow-afk EE-SX3009-P1EESX3009P1EE-SX3009-P17EE-SX3009-P1EE-SX403EE-SX301EE-SX3019-P2/EE-SX40EE-SX305EE-SX305EE-SX405EE-SX305 EE-SX405EE-SX3070EESX3070EE-SX3080EE-SX4080EE-SX3080 EE-SX4080EE-SX3081EESX3081EE-SX3088/EE-SX4088EE-SX310EE-SX3133EE-SX315EE-SX3239
20:38 katsmeow-afk .
20:38 Tom_itx mmm
20:38 Tom_itx sx315ee?
20:40 Tom_itx i guess if i blow it, i have 3 others of a different kind i can use
20:41 katsmeow-afk sorta what i suggested, cep for the blowing it part
20:42 katsmeow-afk i had a datasheet, threw it away as being the part number you didn't have
20:42 Tom_itx i got it
20:42 Tom_itx ee sx3133
20:42 katsmeow-afk yeas,, that looks like ee-sx315
20:43 Tom_itx looks like it will tolerate 5v then
20:45 Tom_itx it bothers me that vcc isn't red
20:45 Tom_itx rather white
20:46 Tom_itx and A isn't connected to it
20:46 furrywolf I think I might use a holesaw as a lawnmower part. :)
20:47 Tom_itx rue_mohr uses razor blades
20:47 Tom_itx may as well
20:48 furrywolf there's a cup-shaped shield that goes on top of the cutting head and around the spindle housing that keeps grass out of the spindle bearings... mine has failed, and caused the bearings to fail. the bearings are cheap, but they'll presumably fail again unless I have a shield...
20:49 furrywolf plus, it took me a solid half hour with a big lump hammer, destroying many blocks of wood, to beat the bearings out... don't want to do it again!
20:51 Tom_itx katsmeow-afk
20:52 katsmeow-afk hmm?
20:52 Tom_itx you think the anode / cathode are a separate circuit on this?
20:52 Tom_itx and the G and V power the 'chip' on board
20:52 katsmeow-afk i absolutely do not know
20:52 katsmeow-afk i gave you the data i had
20:52 Tom_itx in which case RED would be the pulse out
20:53 Tom_itx and i thank you
20:53 Tom_itx i'm just diggin in your brain now
20:53 Tom_itx i know it's full
20:53 katsmeow-afk all else i can suggest is meter the led, that way you know which is + and which is -
20:53 Tom_itx i'm pretty sure about the led
20:53 katsmeow-afk power it up with a safety resistor, see if it glows
20:53 Tom_itx G and blue
20:54 Tom_itx are cathode and anode
20:54 katsmeow-afk ok, then you should have either vcc or gnd figured out'
20:54 Tom_itx maybe i'll tie blue and vcc to 5v
20:54 Tom_itx put blue thru a resistor though
20:54 Tom_itx to save the led
20:55 Tom_itx that sorta makes sense
20:55 m_itx puts the crowbar
20:55 katsmeow-afk tape over the photoxsistor real well, slowly increase the vcc thru a 10k resistor,, the real pwr will float up as you increase the voltage, the output will stay low
20:55 katsmeow-afk if you do the same to the output, pwr and output will float up,, afaik
20:56 katsmeow-afk if you have pwr and gnd reversed, it shuld act like a real low powered zener under a ma
20:57 katsmeow-afk i am looking at a stupid clock with a minute hand that goes around 4 time tween 6pm and 9pm
20:57 Tom_itx if i use 5v it won't amplify it beyond that will it?
20:58 Tom_itx the data sheet indicates 28v out
20:59 Tom_itx 16v in
20:59 Tom_itx 4 to 16
20:59 Tom_itx 4.5
20:59 Tom_itx ok i
20:59 Tom_itx i'm just gonna try it
21:02 katsmeow-afk it will toggle tween gng and vcc
21:03 katsmeow-afk it will toggle twnne gnd and vcc
21:03 katsmeow-afk power went out before dinenr got cooked, i STILL have not eaten
21:03 rrywolf loads katsmeow-afk in the car and heads to the local indian p
21:10 furrywolf gah... apparantly some of the brush mowers were recalled. reason: if you pull the mower forwards, by letting go of the handles, walking around to the front of the mower, and lifting it by the mower deck sticking your hands under the front, you could get cut.
21:11 furrywolf why can't we recall these people instead of recalling the mower?
21:12 katsmeow-afk mmmm Indian food
21:12 furrywolf "Hazard: The operator can come in contact with the rotating blade, even when disengaged, by pulling on the front of the mower deck while the engine is running, posing a serious injury hazard to consumers." apparantly the clutch can drag slightly, and people are so fucking stupid they'll actually stick their hands under the deck of a running lawnmower.
21:12 furrywolf "Incidents/Injuries: The company has received eight reports of laceration injuries. "
21:13 Tom_itx katsmeow-afk i get 1.14v at the resistor anode point on the led
21:13 katsmeow-afk i thought the led was all figured out and properly glowing
21:13 Tom_itx should i decrease the r?
21:13 Tom_itx not yet
21:13 katsmeow-afk ok
21:14 katsmeow-afk i need am inute to go hit the nukebox buttons
21:14 katsmeow-afk f uckings paceb arb uttons
21:18 Tom_itx emitter Vf 1.2 typ 1.5 max
21:19 Tom_itx i tried to see it thru the video camera and didn't
21:19 Tom_itx but i might not be able to anyway
21:47 Tom_itx ok it works
21:48 Tom_itx 220r is about right
21:51 Tom_itx .33v with 220r and .54 v with 330r for the low on the pulse
21:51 Tom_itx both are about 4.8 on the high
21:52 rue_shop SWEET
21:52 rue_shop todays package was 10 8 pin dip sockets
21:53 Tom_itx ok i think this will work
21:55 rue_shop oh tom
21:55 rue_shop damn
21:55 rue_shop whats that url
21:55 rue_shop I had a visitor and I totally forgot about you
21:55 Tom_itx i got it working
21:56 Tom_itx the output is reverse of what i figured it may be
21:56 rue_shop oh well damn, its just a dumb one
21:56 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/cnc/cnc_files/encoder1.jpg
21:56 rue_shop to confirm the emitter
21:56 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/cnc/cnc_files/encoder2.jpg
21:57 rue_shop put a led in series with a resistor, it should trigger one way but noth the other
21:57 rue_shop the transistor wont trigger either way in a series led circuit
21:57 Tom_itx i used a meter
21:57 furrywolf just spent $7.82 on the three new 6204 bearings for the mower spindle.
21:58 rue_shop then when you know that, you hook the led up with a drive resistor and put a led on the transistor, you look for a dim glow that goes on and off with the driving of the led
21:58 rue_shop sorry tom
21:58 rue_shop i would have had you helped if not for my damn main machine down
21:58 rue_shop and I lost the knoppix image I need to fix it, have to download again
21:58 rue_shop ARG
21:59 rue_shop but I'm playing in the shop now, visitor is gone
21:59 Tom_itx kat found me a 'close' data sheet
21:59 rue_shop wait, its a smart one
21:59 rue_shop it says vcc and ground right on it
21:59 Tom_itx white looks to be vcc though and it ain't
21:59 rue_shop but for some reason they didn't put a resistor on the led
22:00 Tom_itx no but i'm gonna
22:00 rue_shop what is the hidden part on the side?
22:00 rue_shop black is - for sure
22:00 Tom_itx tantalum
22:00 rue_shop so blue is the led drive
22:00 Tom_itx yes
22:01 rue_shop I think white is vcc
22:01 Tom_itx it isn't
22:01 rue_shop then red is positive
22:01 Tom_itx it's output
22:01 rue_shop the tant will be across th power
22:01 rue_shop so yea, white is out and blue is led drive
22:01 rue_shop usually they put a resistor on it
22:05 rue_shop blackout
22:05 rue_shop I was saying
22:05 rue_shop ... I dont know
22:06 rue_shop damn power blackouts
22:10 Tom_itx it will sense a resistor wire passing under it
22:10 rue_shop ?
22:10 rue_shop ok, what was I doing
22:10 Tom_itx i swiped a wire between the sensor
22:11 rue_shop k
22:11 Tom_itx as an interrupter
22:12 rue_shop ok
22:12 rue_shop how do you know which side of it your on?
22:13 Tom_itx what do you mean?
22:13 Tom_itx i don't need quadrature
22:13 Tom_itx i just want to detect rpm
22:24 rue_shop3 kat, do you have a win98 registry cleaner?
22:25 rue_shop3 katsmeow-afk
22:56 rue_shop the robot mower has an uncanny ability to make its way to the back yard
22:56 furrywolf I got both a rubber seal bearing and a steel shield bearing... which should I use? the steel one should be able to take a lot more grass before failure, but won't keep water and dust out, while the rubber one will be actually sealed... until the grass pushes against it and mushes it.
23:03 furrywolf hrmm, I should get one of the ones with rubber bonded to steel... best of both.
23:10 furrywolf bah, can't find.
23:11 rrywolf pokes the people who know more about bearings, like rue_m
23:20 rrywolf pokes katsmeow-afk
23:27 katsmeow-afk mou?
23:28 katsmeow-afk use the rubber bearing, you can make your own E3 interleaved sorta grass excluder
23:28 furrywolf my current plan is an old hole saw.
23:29 katsmeow-afk see if the crankcase oil floods the bottom bearing, if it does, i'd still be tempted to leave both seals on,,,,,,,,,,,,, course that could have been what killed the last bearing
23:29 furrywolf the spindle housing sticks out about 2" from the deck... there was originally some form of cup that rotated around it, which is now shredded aluminum bits. I figure an old hole saw is the right shape, and much tougher...
23:29 furrywolf it's belt driven.
23:30 katsmeow-afk "belt driven" has nothing to do with "crankcase oil flooding bearing"
23:30 furrywolf it has a lot do it with it, because the spindle bearings are two feet from the crankcase. :)
23:30 furrywolf horizontally
23:30 katsmeow-afk <blink>
23:30 katsmeow-afk i thought you were replacing engine bearings
23:30 katsmeow-afk ok
23:31 katsmeow-afk so,, if the crankcase oil floods the new bearings, hide real fast
23:31 furrywolf heh! I once had a shipper/shredder shoot oil ~40ft into the air.
23:31 furrywolf chipper
23:32 katsmeow-afk rue, i have nothing for win98, i never put that trash on my puter, i went dos-win3.1-win95B-winxpee
23:32 furrywolf crankcase vent was pinched in the cowl (not my doing), built up pressure in the crankcase until it popped the dipstick out, and then proceeded to relieve said pressure.
23:33 katsmeow-afk if you are running win98, i STRONGLY suggest you lose it, because the fdisk-format situation was never fixed
23:33 katsmeow-afk that's a lot of relieveing
23:34 furrywolf fortunately I was a bit away from it getting more wood, and was out of the splatter range... waited for it to finish raining (the actual burst was just a fraction of a second), then quickly ran over and killed the motor.
23:34 katsmeow-afk dinner was good, pasta, some meat food stuff, wine saute seasoning, tumeric, and cumin to taste
23:36 katsmeow-afk in a bowl
23:37 furrywolf still not sure which bearing to use for the lowest bearing... the shielded is tougher, but dirt/dust might get in, while the sealed will keep dirt and dust out until the first time something gets up in there and mushes the rubber.
23:37 furrywolf the spindle has three bearings, one at the top, two at the bottom.
23:37 katsmeow-afk surely you can figure a dirt slinger to go onto it
23:38 furrywolf I can find references to bearings where the rubber seal is mounted to a steel shield, but none actually for sale. heh.
23:38 furrywolf I guess I'll go with sealed, and make sure my anti-grass-wrapping cup keeps anything from mushing the rubber.
23:40 katsmeow-afk - ˘SceneTap uses facial detection software to monitor bars and determine the age and gender of those in the crowd.
23:41 furrywolf good luck with either of those.
23:41 katsmeow-afk yea,, i need an app to know the gender of who i am attracted to
23:41 katsmeow-afk wow

23:43 furrywolf all the more reason to avoid social networking garbage.
23:43 katsmeow-afk i do, facebook is all 127.0.0.1
23:44 furrywolf lol
23:48 rue_shop ugh, kat just came back with a baby bird
23:49 katsmeow-afk i did?
23:49 rue_shop I'll give it the 1% chance it has to live
23:49 katsmeow-afk usually i do that only in daytime, and i turn them loose
23:49 katsmeow-afk oh
23:49 katsmeow-afk foraging
23:50 tsmeow-afk hides the pic of her holding wild b
23:50 rue_shop hah, er cat
23:51 rue_shop I gave it warmth, protection, and put some food in it
23:51 rue_shop its got to do the rest
23:51 katsmeow-afk it's hard to survive a cat attack tho, it's literally a death by 1000 pins (claw holes)
23:52 rue_shop3 its a baby I dont think there was enough fight to put holes in it
23:52 katsmeow-afk oh
23:52 katsmeow-afk don't forget a baby bird doesn't know how to drink
23:58 katsmeow-afk a bird got in last year and proceeded to fly in and out of the chicken wire i put up to keep the cats out of the kitchen and bay window, teasing the cats, stupid bird, it didn't last long
23:58 furrywolf heh
23:59 katsmeow-afk really, it could have flown out the front door, the balcony door, or the elevator roof door, instead it went after the cats
23:59 katsmeow-afk it had to make an effort to get in with them, back out, back in, over and over
