00:19 furrywolf this project is now a "tomorrow" project.
00:20 furrywolf the fuel pump was having a hard time priming, so I went to dump in one of the jerry cans I keep on the truck, as it likes a higher fuel level.

00:20 furrywolf it was NOT water when I put it there.
00:20 furrywolf I stopped after dumping about a gallon of water in the tank.
00:21 furrywolf got out a bucket, removed the tank drain plug, let the water run out, put the plug back in when I started getting gas out... will let it sit overnight, then drain more.

00:23 furrywolf either my jerry can leaks and filled with rainwater while the gas evaporated, or someone (most likely the insane neighbor) stole the contents of the can and replaced it with water hoping I wouldn't notice for a while.

00:26 furrywolf at least I've worked on enough vehicles to know the difference between gas and water in a gas can, and know enough not to even turn on the vehicle until draining it. heh.

01:51 GuShH actually one of the valves wasn't as bad and I managed to get the handle off very easily after removing the nut.

01:51 GuShH when the rubber bushing dries out, the more you turn those valves the more they leak.
01:52 GuShH and they leak this black goo comprised of rubber dust and water
01:52 furrywolf use larger wrenches until they either come apart or break. if they break, they weren't fixable, and needed to be replaced anyway - now they just need it slightly sooner.
01:53 GuShH quick fix, assuming theres no need to turn the valve is to use a caulk gun with silicone sealant, put it inside the big nut, turn it a few times and once it's dry, turn it all the way.
01:53 GuShH that stops the leak but the moment you turn the valve a few times, the new seal breaks off.

01:54 furrywolf grease the part that's supposed to move, apply silicone, tighten halfway, wait, tighten fully.

01:55 GuShH I know it should work, but if I can remove the handle I may as well place a proper o-ring in there. Tomorrow I'll try with vice grips and more force.
