00:30 rrywolf just offered someone on ebay their starting bid, asking them to end the auction early and sell to the current high bidder.... probably won't work, but worth a shot.

07:35 delkin What is the cheapest and most reliable way to connect a motor shaft and a threaded rod?
07:41 Triffid_Hunter delkin: which do you want? cheap or reliable?
07:42 delkin Triffid_Hunter: If you don't mind, I'd love to here the whole set of possibilities that you know.
07:43 Triffid_Hunter delkin: I roll with reprap, couplers are big in that crew.. personally I use simple vinyl tubing with some hairspray and some zipties
07:43 delkin I can say that I'd like to avoid these cause they are extremely expensive: http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&safe=active&client=ubuntu&hs=Bwv&sa=X&channel=cs&biw=1366&bih=652&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=5p-KjTXVslvqnM:&imgrefurl=https://www.finelineautomation.com/store/show/FLA106-01p3&docid=qaNT2DYM9XI4BM&imgurl=https://www.finelineautomation.com/system/0000/0176/FlexibleCoupler3pack1.jpg&w=800&h=600&ei=6k3PT-TPB8e2hAf75djuCw&zoom=1&iact=hc&v
07:43 delkin px=902&vpy=308&dur=203&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=77&ty=115&sig=101681253144572082299&page=1&tbnh=141&tbnw=188&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:0,i:95
07:43 Triffid_Hunter delkin: they also use printed couplers, and the aluminium spring couplers are very popular too
07:44 Triffid_Hunter delkin: I've designed a printable universal joint, haven't posted it online yet because I haven't actually printed it yet
07:46 delkin Triffid_Hunter: In order to use your universal joint I'd need a 3D printer, right? I don't have it yet, and I think that local companies that machine those kind of things are gonna ask for too much
07:47 Triffid_Hunter delkin: 3d printer would be easiest, could also cut from wood if you're handy in that department I suppose, depends how much precision you nee
07:47 Triffid_Hunter delkin: the vinyl tubing is fantastic if you don't have huge torque and a little slop isn't problematic
07:47 delkin Triffid_Hunter: I am trying to build a cnc for pcb printing
07:48 delkin What do you think about this idea: http://buildyourcnc.com/diycoupling.aspx
07:48 delkin Do you think it works, from your experience?
07:48 Triffid_Hunter heh was just about to mention the mantis
07:48 Triffid_Hunter hm, should work if the tubes have tight tolerances
07:50 delkin Triffid_Hunter: The think I don't like so much about the mantis9 is the fact it needs to glue the motor shaft to the threaded rod, making the motor not reusable.
07:51 Triffid_Hunter delkin: glue is easy to break when you want to if you use an appropriate one
07:53 Triffid_Hunter polycyanoacrylate (superglue) should work great, then succumb to a few sharp blows from a hammer
07:53 Triffid_Hunter test on something non-expensive first though of course
07:53 Triffid_Hunter hot glue is another easy release one, but I don't know how warm you're planning on running your motors
07:55 delkin Triffid_Hunter: I have no idea either :) I am planning to build a machine more or less the size of a mantis9.
07:56 delkin The idea of coupling with vinyl tube requires bolts to fix it, right?
07:59 Triffid_Hunter delkin: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/D3JwgOvGgsmi2Q-Nyu2katMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0
07:59 delkin Triffid_Hunter: I also have realized in many CNCs online that the motors are attached to the walls with heights, and not directly connected. Do you know the reason? Is it to allow further adjustments of the motor shaft angle?
07:59 Triffid_Hunter delkin: not sure what you're referring to, haven't done a huge amount of CNC stuff
08:01 delkin http://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/projects/31580/photo-full.jpg?1304189662
08:04 delkin Triffid_Hunter: I like your idea of vinyl tube. What can you say about immunity tobacklash?
08:05 delkin Anyway, the most elegant solution i've seen so far
08:20 gongoputch I have been playing with the wheels from an old pair of inline skates and threaded rod(s).
08:21 gongoputch the sealed ball bearings are nice
08:24 Triffid_Hunter delkin: if there's any load on it you will definitely have backlash
08:24 Triffid_Hunter delkin: if you want no backlash, you need either rigid couplers or machined joints of some kind like the alu spring couplers
08:24 gongoputch compared to the stuff I see discussed in here, I am just playing with toys tho
08:25 Triffid_Hunter gongoputch: yeah the 608 skate bearings are amazingly good for their price in terms of linear motion applications
08:26 gongoputch for me (just starting to learn) the cheapness is the main attraction, near endless supplies from thrift stores
08:29 gongoputch right now I am trying to come up with a simple and elegant home-brew slip ring of maybe 4 or 5 conductors
08:29 Triffid_Hunter gongoputch: use the bearings themselves unless that's too bulky
08:30 Triffid_Hunter gongoputch: otherwise make a PCB with concentric tracks and pull brushes from DC motors
08:30 gongoputch yea
08:31 gongoputch if nothing else, I am finally using my basement for SOMEthing now
08:32 gongoputch the internet is a fantastic resource, but I really need to find some interest group near me, there is nothing like seeing and touching 1st person
08:33 gongoputch the FIRST stupid thing I tried was an audio jack :)
08:33 Triffid_Hunter gongoputch: reprap project is excellent for that sort of thing, they're amazing machines to have access to and at the same time we're looking at a lot of CNC stuff with fresh eyes
08:33 Triffid_Hunter and they're also popping up all over the world
08:34 gongoputch wow. hadn't seen this yet
08:35 Triffid_Hunter gongoputch: I got one and I participate in the community a lot :)
08:35 gongoputch I am humbled in the presence of projects like this.
08:36 gongoputch tho I really like my 9-5, there are days it is hard to concentrate on it
08:37 ngoputch runs off to watch vids of re
08:48 gongoputch holy crap : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUB1WgiAFHg ... this is all new to me
08:58 rue_mohr gongoputch, you didn't notice the whole 3d printer thing over the past 4 or so years?
08:58 theBear apparently not :)
08:59 gongoputch I live in a cave. Also, I think I took a look when it was nascent ....
09:00 gongoputch as well, I went to electronic tech school in 1982
09:02 gongoputch feel kind of like Rip Van Winkle
09:04 theBear lol, bet you look kinda like him at that age too (sorry, couldn't resist it, i was 1 in 1982)
09:05 theBear but seriously, last 5 or 10 years, since cheap super-easy to get into (ie. minimal programmer requirements, free gcc compilers etc etc) micros and 'magic' chips like usb-serial and magic switching controllers have been around, there's a LOT of REALLY COOL stuff happening in the 'diy'/hobby areas
09:06 theBear including of course 3d printers, cnc machines of various kinds, and well, just about anything you can imagine
09:08 gongoputch seems so
09:08 gongoputch what the hell does anyone need "free time" for anyway?
09:08 gongoputch :)
09:15 Triffid_Hunter gongoputch: http://youtu.be/ndOzDB44NT8 <-- that's my printer running.. can see why we wanted to reinvent a bunch of the CNC stuff, very few mills can move that quick!
09:15 theBear free time ? now there's a pair of words i aint seen for a long time <grin> i think in this modern day and age of social media and magic pocket computers (aka mobile phones) and internets and crap, people don't really have 'free time' anymore
09:38 Skwint possibly because CNC stuff can use a big block of cheap material, instead of small expensive reels of plastic :/
09:38 Skwint once it's cheap...
09:39 gongoputch theBear: aint it the truth.
09:40 gongoputch Triffid_Hunter: that does move fast
10:23 rrywolf stretches out and y
10:36 theBear gongoputch, you'd appreciate it even more than me... when i learned about cpus and 'how computers work electronically' etc, it was still external rom/ram/etc, but i never built one of the damned thigns, a 'few' short years later, under $5 in any currency gets you a chip with ram and rom and cpu inside more powerful than most early 'home computers' ... and i don't mean zx80 and c64's, i mean the original compact macs and things like that
10:40 furrywolf I haven't seen much point to 3d printing... everything I can imagine wanting to make needs to be real materials, not printable materials.
10:40 furrywolf making parts out of squiggly plastic does not seem useful to me.
10:41 theBear furrywolf, every now and again i think of/need something that could be squiggly printed, but not often enough to build one :)
10:42 furrywolf what I need next is a larger milling machine.
10:44 furrywolf actually, what I need is more time and money.
10:44 furrywolf this seems to be the harder step.
10:46 theBear yeah, it's a viscous rollercoaster... err, visious oooh dear, i think i officially had 1 sip too much beer to spell
10:46 theBear vicous? no gaar
10:46 furrywolf lol
10:47 theBear aww c'mon, please spell it for me, it's gonna drive me spare
10:49 furrywolf vicious
10:50 rrywolf worries about theBear's drinking.
10:51 theBear c'mon... i just got back from roughly a year of various kinds of hells, and while my drinking is medically considered chronic alcaholism, last blood test a couple months ago, miraculously, my organs and nutritions and every damned thing they could test for were all outstanding ! so don't worry at least
10:51 theBear oh, i been in the other channel all night... i guess i haven't mentioned that i'm back, kickin ass and taking names
10:52 theBear or more accurately, uncrippled, no longer caring for a decrepit ancient family member, and actively looking for work and all that stuff i used to do with my time
10:53 furrywolf those are good things.
10:54 theBear indeed
10:54 theBear the reason i got back a little earlier than expected is err, not fantastic, but there's nothing that can be done about it, and i maintain the opinion/position that i did beyond the best i could, and some things cannot be changed, even when you are as awesome as me
12:19 katsmeow-afk there is an non-metric version of "skate bearings" that fit non-metric bolts better, and if you put a nylock nut and lock washer on both sides of your wheel on the threaded rod, and really wrench down on the nuts, your wheel will be held pretty firmly
12:20 tsmeow-afk welcomes the bear
12:22 katsmeow-afk that said about the simple nylocks, if you use a 1/2" axle there's room for a keyway, or a small rollpin, or a grub screw
12:23 katsmeow-afk and you can always drill a threaded coupler to match a non-threaded motor shaft, then drill and tap the coupler for a grub screw,, and on the threaded end you jamb up with one nylock against the coupler
12:28 katsmeow-afk i had a webpage for making flex couplers, and a video, but took it down when i was criticised and laughed at for using the wrong color material
12:28 furrywolf or just weld the coupler to the rod, if it's not something that needs to come apart again.
12:28 katsmeow-afk it was a great lil inexpensive zero-friction coupler
12:30 tsmeow-afk checked under "old projects", it's entirely deleted years
13:01 katsmeow-afk that was such a good coupler design too
13:02 katsmeow-afk could mix different threaded rod sizes, and non-theaded, metric vs non-metric, keyed-threaded-grubbed, didn't matter, and zero backlash, but it was the wrong color, so i destroyed it and never made another one
13:03 tsmeow-afk s
13:05 Tom_itx it waz pink
13:05 Tom_itx :)
13:05 theBear hehe
13:05 katsmeow-afk looked that way in the pics and video, and i didn't care, but factually irl the string was red
13:06 katsmeow-afk it was what i had
13:06 Tom_itx it's been too long for me to remember really
13:06 katsmeow-afk it still hurts me
13:07 Tom_itx it worked
13:08 katsmeow-afk it worked as a coupler, and it worked to kill a piece of me
13:08 Tom_itx i've been getting crap while redoing the cnc but i don't care. i use the stuff i have and don't care what ppl think
13:09 katsmeow-afk i think you did very well, and i don't think you used crap, and none of it is pink
13:09 Tom_itx the color is irrelavant
13:10 katsmeow-afk humans found it extremely relavant when i used it
13:11 Tom_itx i'm quite pleased with my cnc results really
13:11 Tom_itx vast improvement
13:11 Tom_itx you should be proud of what you do
13:11 Tom_itx no matte what
13:11 Tom_itx we are on your side... really
13:11 Tom_itx right theBear???
13:11 katsmeow-afk i was, it was a ingenious simple dirt cheap mix-n-match coupler
13:12 katsmeow-afk i thought it would be popular
13:12 theBear damned straight !
13:13 Tom_itx i gotta go
13:13 Tom_itx you helpd alot with my psu design
13:13 theBear lol, no i didn't
13:14 theBear but you're still welcome
13:14 Tom_itx oh not you you silly bear
13:14 m_itx sticks a pot of honey on theBear's
13:15 Tom_itx i dunno why i always think of _that_ bear but i do
13:15 theBear that's ok, it aint how i got my name, but now my name is bear, that's just fine
13:16 Tom_itx from the night life?
13:16 theBear i recently got his little book and matching 7" record at a 'op shop' ... very nice for my future dj career... lots of stuff to 'scratch' like "pooh wasn't a very smart bear" :)
13:16 theBear i DO like to boogie, i like the disco aaaiiiiiiigggghgghghghghhgeeeeeaaaahhh
13:16 theBear tho technically it's to do with my given name
13:17 Tom_itx ok i really gotta go now.
13:17 Tom_itx later
13:17 theBear cya :)
13:36 rrywolf bought pink LEDs the other
13:37 Steffanx ...
13:38 theBear pink leds ? that's as crazy as funny coloured roses !
13:38 furrywolf yep. pink LEDs.
13:38 furrywolf they're even a decent approximation of hot pink, too.
13:38 Steffanx I bet the LEDs are clear :P
13:39 Steffanx and emit pink-ish light :P
13:39 theBear pfft, these days all half-decent leds are clear and emit coloured light :)
13:39 furrywolf http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3060681
13:40 furrywolf I had no use for them, but I saw them while I was in the store, and figured I should get a pair. after all, how often do you see pink leds?
13:42 theBear there's no denying it
13:44 rrywolf should mount them to something, just to annoy the same people katsmeow-afk ann
13:48 furrywolf well crap. just got a call from one of the companies we work for that my co-worker just went to the hospital with difficulty breathing, and I'm doing her job until further notice. :(
13:49 theBear well, err, at least you can breathe
13:51 furrywolf she still has cargo in her van, so we just sent out one of the other drivers to unload it in the hospital parking lot. brb, more phone calls.
14:47 rrywolf hopes she's alright.
17:33 katsmeow-afk F-22 Developer Gets $19M to Install Emergency Backup Oxygen Systems; Panetta also ordered the Air Force to corral the planes and restrict their missions so they are always near a landing strip, just in case something goes wrong again, but no matter how near the runway, the pilot will suffer irreversable brain damage within 10 minutes of blacking out due to no oxygen
17:35 ace4016 the death in alaska or something was because of that, right?
17:35 katsmeow-afk one suffered irreversable brain damage in under 3 minutes from lack of oxygen to breathe, when he impacted the ground nose-first at mach 2
17:35 katsmeow-afk yeas
17:36 ace4016 oxygen system failed and pilot passed out and crashed into a mountain side
17:36 katsmeow-afk yeas
17:37 ace4016 i was watching an anime and they had a system that had a "simple" AI that controlled the aircraft when the pilot passsed out...you would have thought they would include stuff like that by now
17:37 ace4016 but they clearly havne't
17:38 katsmeow-afk yeas, it's so simple it's already on many commercial planes: if going to collide with something, it takes evasive action, else it acts like an autopilot
17:38 Tom_itx even drone firmware
17:39 ace4016 yea; most drones have a function that either allows them to continue missions or return to "base" if they lose comms
17:39 katsmeow-afk they had to put "upside down" detectors in the F-16 because it flew so well upside down the pilots didn't realise it till too late
17:42 katsmeow-afk most modern aircraft are 100% fly-by-wire, having the aircraft know something out of bounds was happening and take over isn't difficult "we are approaching ground at 2000mph and pilot is not telling me to shut up my warnings, i think i'll fly my own ass home now"
17:42 katsmeow-afk reason for aborted mission: aircraft lost confidence in the unconcious pilot
17:43 katsmeow-afk dinner, bbl
17:43 ace4016 heh, you have to be careful with that because some manuevers require the pilot to ignore warnings :P
17:48 ace4016 with MWO coming out soon, i'm inspired to make a possibly realistic battlemech :P
18:22 katsmeow-afk MWO ?
18:22 ace4016 mechwarrior online; video games >_>
18:22 katsmeow-afk o
21:15 furrywolf well, she's apparantly out of the hospital, but so doped up on meds she can't talk coherently... so looks like I'm doing her route for a few more days.
21:17 furrywolf I need to get the keys from her, but she's not answering the phone, hopefully she's just passed out in bed and not anything worse...
21:23 katsmeow-afk cannot breathe right, so they dope her up? sounds like a recipe for death
21:24 furrywolf I have no idea what happened, that's just what I've heard 3rd-hand or so.
21:25 katsmeow-afk it's just too much like "she is getting muscle cramps in arms while swimming, lets load her up on muscle relaxers"
21:28 Triffid_Hunter usually they give steroids for breathing difficulties.. and sometimes a few things to reduce distress (read: make you really high and not care about anything) that don't act as respirotary inhibitors
21:30 katsmeow-afk i wnder why.. if i was given breathing meds so i could breathe normally (if i needed that), i'd be *less* distressed already
21:47 furrywolf I suspect the breathing problems are a result of some other illness, a symptom not a disease...
21:54 tsmeow-afk hopes she i
22:01 rrywolf does
22:40 e_mohr decides to have sour cream for su
22:40 rue_mohr sprinkled with perogies
22:41 katsmeow-afk perogies make a great topping :-)
22:43 rrywolf doesn't like sour c
22:45 furrywolf I always order burritos, etc without it.
22:46 ace4016 weirdo
22:46 ace4016 then again...i prefer sour tasting things :P
22:46 furrywolf I love sour things.
22:46 furrywolf I tend to not like dairy things.
22:47 ace4016 mm, sharp cheese
22:47 furrywolf I like sharp cheese.
22:47 furrywolf extra-sharp chedder++
22:48 furrywolf (the white kind, not the yellow fake kind)
22:50 furrywolf http://www.loletacheese.com/ I go there sometimes and sample everything... they have something like 50 cheeses.
22:56 tsmeow-afk strongly dislikes parmesan, but strongly likes swiss, sharp cheddars, muenster somet
22:56 ace4016 i don't like fake parmasan
22:57 ace4016 i don't like fake cheese in general
22:57 furrywolf I hate fake cheese.
22:57 ace4016 fake dairy even
22:57 furrywolf have you ever tried "american 'cheese'"?
22:57 ace4016 that stuff is gross
22:57 ace4016 taste like plastic
22:57 furrywolf the taste and texture of your average inner tube...
22:58 ace4016 grassfed milk and dairy products tastes sooo much better than the regular industrial milk and dairy products
22:59 ace4016 but it's not easy to obtain the former
22:59 tsmeow-afk doesn't chew on inner tubes
22:59 ace4016 so best to avoid it :P
22:59 furrywolf heh, there's good dairy around here.
23:00 furrywolf "Our cows produce high quality milk because they graze on beautiful pastures and are not injected with rBST hormones to increase milk production. We take great care to insure the Loleta Cheese Factory cows are naturally healthy and productive and we give the same quality attention to our cheese making process. We are proud to offer certified organic cheeses and a line of GMO-Free cheeses."
23:01 furrywolf http://www.loletacheese.com/images/takeatour2lg.jpg they let you sample all of them. they're all yummy. and they charge half as much buying straight from the factory instead of from stores...
23:03 furrywolf of course, the factory direct price is still double what you can get mass-produced cheese for...
23:05 ace4016 heh
23:05 ace4016 i wish we had something like that here
23:05 ace4016 although i should tone down on dairy anyways
23:18 ferdna i would like to purchase a bench vise... any recommendations? i was going to get one from harbor freight tools but several people were against it... any suggestions?
23:18 furrywolf made in usa, canada, england,...
23:19 furrywolf the chinese ones suck, even when they're sold under a supposed quality brand, such as craftsman.
23:20 ferdna i'll keep that in mind furrywolf... any others?
23:21 furrywolf I like Wilton myself.
23:21 furrywolf someone stole my good one. :(
23:22 katsmeow-afk i have a $15 HF one, i use it to hold light stuff, and never hit it
23:22 katsmeow-afk i bolted it to a slab of 1/2 steel all prettied up, i can visegrip it to tables anywhere in the house
23:22 ferdna i was thinking: http://tinyurl.com/6njlzwn
23:22 ferdna vs
23:23 ferdna http://tinyurl.com/88tspko
23:23 furrywolf http://fw.bushytails.net/visescrew01.jpg my made-in-china Craftsman...
23:24 ferdna katsmeow-afk, i need something that i can hit....
23:24 ferdna furrywolf, what is that? do you have another pic?
23:25 furrywolf that's the screw inside the vise, which promptly twisted off after I gave everything a coat of grease.
23:25 katsmeow-afk vises really aren't meant to be hit, even if they have soemthign that looks like an anvil as part of them ,, if you need an anvil, get an anvil
23:28 ferdna katsmeow-afk, i need vise that i can hit =)
23:30 furrywolf that's a really high price for a chinese vise.
23:31 ferdna furrywolf, you really have all the tools nice...
23:32 furrywolf ?
23:32 ferdna http://fw.bushytails.net/garage01/picture01-pegboard.jpg
23:32 furrywolf oh, at my last house... they're all in storage now. no room here.

23:33 ferdna http://fw.bushytails.net/cutecat01.jpg
23:33 ferdna *cute
23:33 ferdna who is the girl there? she is hot..
23:34 furrywolf I had a really nice wilton vise... lent it to someone, next time I see it, I find he's left it outside in the rain and used it for welding, and it's completely ruined.
23:34 furrywolf what girl?
23:35 ferdna just messing with you
23:35 ferdna you wined alldata
23:35 furrywolf yes.
23:37 ferdna that compressor looks old and broken...
23:38 furrywolf you do realize I have no clue what images you are looking at, right? do you want me to tail -f access.log so I know what you're talking about?
23:39 furrywolf http://www.cpowilton.com/wilton-10026-500s--machinists--bench-vise---swivel-base--5-in-jaw-width--8-in-jaw-opening--4-1-4-in-throat-depth/wltnwmh10026,default,pd.html?start=1&cgid=wilton-vises the vise that vanished and got trashed. :(
23:40 ferdna furrywolf, no not at all... dont worry about it... just impressed with all your tool collection
23:40 furrywolf I'm pretty sure I don't have any pictures on there of compressors that do not currently work.
23:40 ferdna furrywolf, you out of your mind!!!!!!!!!!
23:41 ferdna that thing is 1,149.00... the freaking thing says that i am saving 190.99
23:41 furrywolf I lent it to someone, he decided it was too heavy, so left it outside under a tree and leaves, occasionally using it to weld stuff, by clamping the thing being welded in the jaws and then using the vise for the ground. when I saw it again, it was pretty much scrap metal.
23:41 ferdna i was thinking on spending... 160 dllrs max....
23:42 ferdna that sucks furrywolf
23:42 furrywolf using it as a ground fucked up the jaws and every available surface, along with the wonderful rust being under leaves in a salt-air climate...
23:43 katsmeow-afk my homemade water supply ==>> http://designerthinking.com/water.html
23:44 furrywolf I've only lent this person one other tool since, a drill bit. he left it outside, in a puddle.
23:44 katsmeow-afk furry: 110k bytes : http://designerthinking.com/images/water/DSCF2687m.jpg
23:44 furrywolf he doesn't care at all if he trashes other people's property, because it's not his problem. "well, sucks to be you" was his answer about the vise.
23:44 ferdna furrywolf, i think this is the one: http://www.cpowilton.com/wilton-63302-ws6--shop-vise--6-in-jaw-width--6-in-jaw-opening--3-1-2-in-throat-depth/wltnwmh63302,default,pd.html?start=2&cgid=wilton-vises&srule=price-low-to-high
23:45 rue_mohr good stuff kat
23:45 furrywolf ferdna: looks good.
23:45 ferdna furrywolf, i guess you learn your lesson... btw can you lend me your vise... =P
23:45 furrywolf katsmeow-afk: that looks good too
23:46 furrywolf ferdna: what vise? when that one was vanished, I started using my craftsman one, that I broke the screw on the FIRST DAY I tried really using it.
23:46 ferdna weld it
23:46 furrywolf and sears wouldn't take it back, claiming the lifetime hand tool warranty does not apply to vises because they are not hand tools.
23:47 furrywolf why, so it can break a quarter inch later? the screw is greatly undersized for the vise, probably so they can save money and use the same small part on lots of models, and is poor quality anyway.
23:48 ferdna =/
23:48 furrywolf that wilton was a very nice vise.
23:48 furrywolf he still has it... after seeing its condition, I didn't bother reclaiming it.
23:49 furrywolf it's now only good for using outside as a welding clamp.
23:49 furrywolf I should have asked to borrow his car, rolled it into a tree, then said "sucks to be you" and left it.
23:49 furrywolf he actually said "sucks to be you" when I bitched at him for runing my vise.
23:50 furrywolf katsmeow-afk: what are the vertical pipes and valves for? do you need a drain between every filter?
23:51 rue_bed furrywolf, if he wrecked your vise, wrecking his car was fine payback
23:53 ferdna specially when your vise cost 1500.00 dllrs
23:53 katsmeow-afk the vertical above the filters goes to house plumbing, i wanted to be able to shut off filters and rain that plumbing
23:53 furrywolf rue_mohr: s/was/would have been
23:54 rue_bed how do you spend $1500 on a vise!?
23:54 furrywolf you might want to put a carbon filter before the RO. since you're not feeding it chlorinated water, it's not required, but will still help a bit.
23:54 katsmeow-afk if i shut off filter input (valve in filter body), and shut off house, there is still water that can make a mess, so with the one valve there i can drain house plumbing, drain water and vent pressure before opening filter housing
23:55 katsmeow-afk the 0.5 is carbon
23:55 furrywolf rue_bed: I got it for a price with two fewer digits at a yard sale, in like-new condition.
23:55 furrywolf ah
23:55 rue_bed non-servicable mill vise?
23:56 furrywolf I might get the vise back from him, dunk it in evaporust for a few days, and see how it comes out...
23:56 rue_bed so he just stole it
23:58 furrywolf nah, retiring ironworker... I got tons of stuff from him.
23:58 furrywolf he was sick of travelling, wanted to settle down with wife and kids, selling all his tools.
23:58 ferdna rue_bed, http://www.cpowilton.com/wilton-10026-500s--machinists--bench-vise---swivel-base--5-in-jaw-width--8-in-jaw-opening--4-1-4-in-throat-depth/wltnwmh10026,default,pd.html?start=1&cgid=wilton-vises
23:58 ferdna thats the one he claims he had...
23:59 furrywolf ?
23:59 furrywolf I think rue can read.
