00:11 katsmeow-afk well, generally a pic is worth 1000 words
00:11 katsmeow-afk which images, particularly?
00:12 rue_mohr <rue_mohr> http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/sparrow1/p1040009.jpg <- ring for mockup gyro cage
00:12 rue_mohr <rue_mohr> http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/sparrow1/p1040010.jpg <-- my pipe buttwelding sucks
00:12 rue_mohr <rue_mohr> http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/sparrow1/p1040015.jpg <-- it really aint so big laying down
00:12 rue_mohr <rue_mohr> http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/sparrow1/p1040018.jpg <-- significantly larger looking when standing up
00:12 rue_mohr <rue_mohr> but still, its not that big a robot
00:12 rue_mohr <rue_mohr> http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/sparrow1/p1040020.jpg <-- ring set for gyro cage mockup
00:12 rue_mohr http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/projects/smelter/p1030995.jpg
00:12 rue_mohr http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/mowerbot2/p1040001.jpg
00:12 rue_mohr http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/mowerbot2/p1040007.jpg
00:12 katsmeow-afk i can't picture you standing up inside http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/sparrow1/p1040009.jpg
00:13 rue_mohr dunno how many times I keep pointing out that the idea of being INSIDE such a thing is crazy
00:14 katsmeow-afk i think most cases asme requires backing tubing to make it easier etc, you just slip a smaller tube inside where you weld
00:14 rue_mohr I split a pice of larger tube and jamned it in
00:15 katsmeow-afk that's a tall pipebot you got there
00:15 rue_mohr next time I'll take a slice out, cause the depth of the spiral was a problem
00:15 rue_mohr its definitly smaller laying down :)
00:15 rue_mohr when you stand it up, seems pretty big
00:15 katsmeow-afk i thought the point of the rings was you getting inside it
00:15 rue_mohr I was glad when I did the final measurement and it was 12'
00:16 rue_mohr no
00:16 rue_mohr the rights are so you have the same
00:16 katsmeow-afk huh?
00:16 rue_mohr missing word, searching
00:16 rue_mohr ----------: rotational position in all 3 dimentoins
00:17 rue_mohr attitude... no
00:17 e_mohr segfa
00:18 katsmeow-afk roll pitch yaw "torsional velocity" ?
00:19 katsmeow-afk what is http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/mowerbot2/p1040007.jpg ?
00:19 rue_mohr its the output of the encoder I made from mouse parts to detect te rotation of the castor wheel
00:19 rue_mohr its bad, but good enough
00:19 rue_mohr just not someting to do quadrature on
00:20 rue_mohr I cant adjust it
00:20 katsmeow-afk something wrong with that pic
00:20 rue_mohr the phase offset isn't at all proper
00:20 rue_mohr but there is enough of a difference to get direction
00:21 rue_mohr its not a masked sensor
00:21 katsmeow-afk not really, look at the right side, the phases coincide
00:21 rue_mohr funny I didn't take a pic of that
00:21 rue_mohr no their still a *bit* out
00:21 katsmeow-afk i think if you had clicked the timebase over one notch to see more pulses, you'd see them overlap
00:21 rue_mohr its several passes so they look like the variance conflicts, but it dosn't
00:22 rue_mohr I couldn't get (within reason) the camera to snap one trace pass
00:22 rue_mohr I wasn't into playing with it to get it to
00:22 rue_mohr the image is just to show how horrid the mouse sensors are
00:22 katsmeow-afk but you have a storage scope
00:22 rue_mohr not yet
00:23 katsmeow-afk o
00:25 katsmeow-afk i could swear some days all my internal processing just shuts down
00:27 skimocha yo dawg, i heard you like asme pipes
00:27 katsmeow-afk who said such a thing?!?
00:31 skimocha we can put a pipe in your pipe so you can weld while you weld
00:32 katsmeow-afk i have seen and held the inserts for spacing and backing on gas pipelines
00:36 katsmeow-afk seen touched steam heating systems for large multi-building facilities, dual boilers , and chilled water cooling systems, dual 200 ton chillers
00:37 katsmeow-afk a lot of that stuff was done to code
00:37 katsmeow-afk i didn't do it
00:45 rue_mohr yea I think it would be a bad day if I was to be handed a welder and put infront of a gas pipe
00:45 rue_mohr I'm REALLY good at pinhole
00:45 rue_mohr sa
00:45 rue_mohr s
00:46 katsmeow-afk i think paid welders are too, most of the tanks i have are failed at re-weld points on seams
00:48 katsmeow-afk but i still have a queston: you are not going to get into the rings to control the mecha?
01:33 rue_mohr yes
01:33 rue_mohr but the rings are not in the mecha
01:33 rue_mohr I'm substituting a tripple bonded wifi connection
01:46 katsmeow-afk right, but you cannot get into those rings
02:05 katsmeow-afk they are too small
02:12 rue_mohr its not a scale mockup
02:13 rue_mohr I'm just building it to introduce myself to the general design challanges
02:14 katsmeow-afk oh
02:14 katsmeow-afk it esembles an exelent mockup
02:14 katsmeow-afk err
02:15 katsmeow-afk it Resembles an exelent mockup
02:20 rue_mohr I have to work out how to attach the motors and how to put the bearings in
02:21 tsmeow-afk
02:21 rue_mohr unlike the mecha, that rings will be a reasonably operational mockup
02:22 katsmeow-afk operational = they'll use resources that could be stripped and put n the full sized one
02:22 rue_mohr the code will probably be really recyclable
02:22 rue_mohr I can see that the inertia of the full size rings is gonna be a large obsticle
02:23 rue_mohr ooo its midnight, thats not good
02:23 katsmeow-afk yeas, hence my suggestions about casting and pins to grip the rings well
02:23 rue_mohr I'm concerned about how brittle the aluminum castings will be
02:24 katsmeow-afk you will haveto screw it down to the ground too, remember, before you get into it
02:24 rue_mohr I think its wise to avoid casting whatever I can
02:24 rue_mohr :)
02:24 katsmeow-afk the casting is the best way, other than high tech adhesives, to get a good distributed grip on the tube without welding-heat-distortion
02:25 katsmeow-afk i strongly believe the smaller the attachment point to the ring, the easier it will break
02:26 katsmeow-afk i finally got all leaks stopepd, 2-part epoxy on all threaded connections
02:34 rue_bed pvc thread?
02:35 rue_bed the final ring set will be different cause its parallel rings
02:36 katsmeow-afk i epoxied the male brass reducer threads into the female pvc threads, yeas
02:37 katsmeow-afk if it has threads, i epoxied it
02:38 katsmeow-afk side note: not all epoxy bonding is permanent, some can be unthreaded because nothing is sticking, it's just filling spaces really well, and cannot be pushed out by the water pressure
02:38 katsmeow-afk like the plastic the RO cannister is made of, i don't think anything can stick to that stuff
02:47 tsmeow-afk is somewhat horrified to realise that even tho she cannot remember where those twist-shank nails are, she mostly remembers and recognises 365 bands/singers from the late 50's to the late
02:59 rue_bed they cast the threads on the pvc stuff, its terrible, half the time I see it dosn't even lign up half descently
02:59 tsmeow-afk ag
03:00 katsmeow-afk and some machined threads are bumpy wher the die/tap vibrated
03:00 rue_bed 1am, eyelids getting pretty heavy
03:00 katsmeow-afk i still have some epoxy left
07:12 sw0rdfish hmmmmmm
09:06 rue_mohr http://sensi.org/~svo/dbot/#model
09:11 rue_mohr http://sensi.org/~svo/strobeshnik/
09:11 rue_mohr that is cute
09:19 rue_mohr http://sensi.org/~svo/capsensor/index.en.html
09:27 rue_mohr http://sensi.org/~svo/fogmoz/?cid=41 hehe
09:29 ace4016 i should make a delta robot...i've already done the math and all
09:35 saschi want too :3
09:42 Sunnyday Hi guys
09:42 Sunnyday My kayaking paddle broke but someone's repaired it by screwing in the flippers into a new aluminium shaft. only the shaft does not have both handgrips anymore. one broke, but one is ok. How do I make a 2nd handgrip before using insulation tape to hold the handgrips in place?
09:43 Sunnyday http://imgur.com/FkilX
09:43 Sunnyday http://imgur.com/RWZuc
10:15 Skwint can you buy a handgrip?
10:16 Tom_itx dip it in plastic and cure it
10:17 Tom_itx ie like pliers grips
10:18 Tom_itx oh, that might not be feasable on that paddle. i clicked afterward... i was thinking ping pong paddle
10:19 Tom_itx replacement handgrip from bicycle, lawnmower etc
10:19 Tom_itx install with compressed air
10:19 Tom_itx or coat the tube with the pliers grip stuff with a brush and let it cure
10:21 Tom_itx http://swlatex.com/
10:21 Tom_itx http://swlatex.com/dip-coating.htm#coatprocess
10:51 Sunnyday Thank you Tom_itx, that was some good advice
11:16 tsmeow-afk is thinking pvc
11:31 katsmeow-afk http://imgur.com/gallery/86iEu
11:32 ace4016 http://i.imgur.com/RX8x6.gif
11:32 ace4016 :P

11:35 Tom_L http://www2.electronicproducts.com/Motors_for_electric_cars-article-WCJH_May201214-html.aspx
11:40 ace4016 cool
11:40 katsmeow-afk put an olde fashioned golfcart motor at each wheel and be done with it
11:41 Tom_itx thing about the lights is, what's gonna keep them facing down?
11:41 katsmeow-afk you'd have 120hp peak, all wheel drive, and they aren't that pricey
11:42 katsmeow-afk Tom, he torsion in the cable
11:42 katsmeow-afk specially if you pretwist it
11:42 ace4016 maybe they have a reason for not using them, like acceleration/speed or efficiency? *shrugs* i don't know much about motors
11:42 Tom_itx i figure heat throughout a day would modify that
11:43 katsmeow-afk what i wann aknow is how you talk the building owners and their insurance screw,, companies into letting the cable be attached
11:43 ace4016 induction motors are suppose to be fairly efficient at high speeds
11:43 Tom_itx kat, like everything else govt, they don't ask
11:44 katsmeow-afk ace, the series wound motor has gobs of low end torque, 5x as much as a ac motor
11:44 ace4016 hm
11:45 katsmeow-afk yeas, brushes must be replaced
11:45 ace4016 never imagined gold carts as highway vehicles
11:46 katsmeow-afk while high rpm efficency of a series wound motor isn't great, your car tires don't turn much over 500rpm
11:46 katsmeow-afk i got 35mph in a VW Beatle with just one golf cart motor in it
11:49 katsmeow-afk it ran hot as fire if kept over 200 amps for long (36v)
11:49 katsmeow-afk by long, i mean over 30 minutes, but the batteries lasted an hour at 25mph level ground, which isn't too back for non-EV batteries in an all steel vehicle
11:54 katsmeow-afk one thing the electric vw could do the gas version never could: roll slowly to a curb, come to a stop with the front wheels against it, put car into **3rd** gear, stop the "gas" and the electric hopped right over it ,, now *that* is Torque
11:55 katsmeow-afk sTomp the gas
12:08 katsmeow-afk ...
12:09 tsmeow-afk ponders running 1,800 memory chips in para
12:10 katsmeow-afk the address and data buss would be 200ft wide
12:11 katsmeow-afk or a buss-cube about 12 inch by 24 inch
12:13 katsmeow-afk using 8ns memory, it could feed bytes into a cpu at 227Ghz
12:13 Sunnyday How do you cool a CPU enough to reach 227GHz?
12:14 katsmeow-afk using a figure by Renasans of 200ua per mhz, the cpu would pull 45amps at 5v
12:14 ace4016 you probably can't unless you change the materials
12:14 ace4016 actually, a lot of the transistors can't switch fast enough unless they are made of different materials
12:15 katsmeow-afk i was just plotting how to use 1800 memory chips ,, 1800 of 80ns 256kx8 and ,, about as many 7.5ns 32megx8 and 16megx8
12:16 ace4016 kats, i'm not a terrible fan of full electric cars anyways; matters little to me; an electric drive though is interesting :D
12:16 katsmeow-afk o
12:17 katsmeow-afk sadly, the electrics are really terrible in use of materials, the batteries just have no capacity compared to any liquid fuel
12:18 katsmeow-afk even with propane, you can put 1000's of hp-hrs into a tank that's lighter than the battery pack, and n only 10 minutes
12:19 katsmeow-afk my belief, after watchingt he electric cars, their problems, etc, and having converted a car to battery power, is use the electricity to produce liquid fuels, put them in a modern high mileage internal combustion engine with some sorta aux steam engine on the exhaust pipe
12:24 Sunnyday How do you make an electric car waterproof in a rainy windy country?
12:25 ace4016 very easy
12:25 ace4016 considering that cars now a days have crap tons of critical electronics ;)
12:25 ace4016 as to airplanes
15:05 katsmeow-afk http://stores.ebay.com/APACO-Electronics/Educational-Kits-/_i.html?_fsub=20&_sid=100106502&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
15:41 home so I soldered a wire together ;d
15:48 Squint that's a very good first step
15:48 Squint depending, of course, on what is on the other end of the wires
15:49 KongfuPanda so which ones of you have a 3D printer at home?
15:49 home Not me
15:49 home should I?
15:50 home whats the point?
15:50 home can I make little cases?
15:50 katsmeow-afk yeas
15:50 home OMG
15:50 home COOOOL
15:52 Rayston can anyone point me at the best resources for learning about robotics?
15:53 KongfuPanda is printing stuff on a 3D printer more expensive than buying it? say I want a pencil case or something
15:53 Squint probably, from what I've seen of the costs of the plastic stuff
15:54 Squint for learning robotics, I'd point you at society-of-robots and the $50 robot tutorial
16:05 Rayston thanx much squint
16:08 Rayston is there any such thing as an Open Source expandable robotics platform with a large online community? closest I have found is boebot, anything else out there like that?
16:08 katsmeow-afk notification of too much multitasking: you open a plastic wrapped throat lossenge, toss it into the trash, and notice something went wrong only after you get the plastic wrapper into your mouth
16:16 home ok guys need soem help
16:18 Rayston is there any such thing as an Open Source expandable robotics platform with a large online community? closest I have found is boebot, anything else out there like that?
16:18 tsmeow-afk senses dej
16:19 katsmeow-afk Rayston, i have a theory
16:19 katsmeow-afk the open source stuff adds more features, which gets expensive, and then most people leave it
16:20 katsmeow-afk this is the cheapest robotics you can buy afaik (unless you build like rue does)
16:20 katsmeow-afk http://stores.ebay.com/APACO-Electronics/Educational-Kits-/_i.html?_fsub=20&_sid=100106502&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
16:21 katsmeow-afk if you google for thelatest buzzwords and robot* , you'll prolly find something you like, like google terms:
16:21 katsmeow-afk robot avr
16:21 katsmeow-afk robot arduino
16:21 katsmeow-afk !assist robots
16:21 tobbor Possibly http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots
16:22 katsmeow-afk if you can scrounge well, and are good with your paws, you can build like rue does at http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots
16:23 katsmeow-afk zhanx builds *nice* robots, you should get some urls from him when he comes back to keybd later tonite
16:23 katsmeow-afk i have managed to build everything *but* robots so far :-((
16:25 katsmeow-afk people tend to want to build what they need, and end up building what they can afford, and then often get depressed at the difference
16:25 katsmeow-afk i , for instance, have absolutely no need for a AA-battery powered line follower
16:25 home http://bit.ly/Kl8N9f <<
16:25 home trying to solder in male header pins
16:26 home on my wr54g to the serial port
16:26 home but there is a problem with pin 1 and 3
16:26 home ther eis this silver thing at the hole
16:26 home How do I install my header pin?
16:27 katsmeow-afk one and 3 where? i don't see that in the pic
16:27 Rayston interesting, thanx katsmeow
16:27 katsmeow-afk <curtsey>
16:28 katsmeow-afk home, did you actually put your solderng iron up aginst the plastic header to solder it's pins?
16:28 home no
16:28 home let me get an image, I am new to this so wait
16:28 katsmeow-afk AREF and GND looks melty
16:31 Squint the solder won't stick right unless the metal it is supposed to stick to is hot - no good just heating up the solder and dripping it on
16:31 Squint that was the most important thing I had to learn when I started :)
16:32 katsmeow-afk yeas, it's called "flowing" the solder and "wetting" the surface
16:33 katsmeow-afk home, i am going away to do things i need to do irl.................
16:33 home bleh
16:33 home how do I solder it with the silver thing blocking the hole?
16:33 home do i have to drill through it?
16:34 katsmeow-afk hell if i know what you are talking about, i been waiting on a pic of it from you
16:34 home all my phones are being sucky hold on
16:34 Squint silver thing ....
16:34 katsmeow-afk i think the hole is just full of solder, but i cannot see it from here
16:34 katsmeow-afk phones will distract you less if placed in a swimming pool
16:35 home sending it XD
16:35 katsmeow-afk do you have a solder sucker?
16:36 Squint I do - it's been a great friend of mine
16:37 home http://imgur.com/ki7tu
16:37 katsmeow-afk pics of 3 different kinds on http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062745
16:37 home whats a solder sucker
16:37 katsmeow-afk omg
16:38 home nah
16:38 katsmeow-afk home, did you LOOK at the img you uploaded?
16:38 home I did
16:38 home I dont know why its so crappy
16:38 home auto focus aint working
16:38 katsmeow-afk fix it, learn how to use a camera, how to desolder, and i'll bbl, bye
16:38 home lol
16:39 home its the damn phone
16:39 home wait dont go XD noooo
16:43 home not my fault auto focus is not implemented >.<
16:57 Squint on the other hand, it's not her fault she can't help by looking at a blur :/
16:58 Squint solder suckers are quite useful for fixing mistakes, and not very expensive
17:18 zhanx i am back
17:18 zhanx http://i49.tinypic.com/azhvko.jpg
17:18 zhanx and it works
17:19 zhanx right now its like 70% done, still need to add in the lights and do a bit of pwm on them for colors
17:20 zhanx add in the sonar sensor code and traction on the cd's and its done
17:21 zhanx Rayston: I am working on a open source robotics platform
17:21 Rayston cool, any linkage?
17:24 zhanx thought i had some online let me check
17:24 Rayston I did just find this, http://www.ros.org/wiki/ seems interesting
17:29 zhanx http://tinyfabland.blogspot.com/2012/05/open-source-robot.html
17:30 zhanx mine is gonna be a base system you can use whatever on
17:31 zhanx the robot katsmeow-afk was referring to is this on: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-h639953S5xE/S_udI_yzx0I/AAAAAAAAAho/6LVSEasrhl8/s686/DSC_4428.JPG
17:38 katsmeow-afk oh, zhanx, someone was asking for the name of a place online that does precision plastic cutting
17:40 tsmeow-afk hasto go afk-er a
17:40 zhanx its pololu
18:41 katsmeow-afk i found out the concrete sub-grade wall in the cellar, which i am trying to cut a hole in, is at least 10 inches thick, i know that because i found the rebar, which i placed in the center of the pour,, and now i need a different hole with no rebar it it so i can chisel all the way thru
18:50 zhanx http://oi50.tinypic.com/2yv2pnd.jpg and done for now
18:56 Helios evening
19:01 zhanx evening
19:12 Helios Good nigth
19:24 katsmeow-afk zhanx, cute :-)
19:24 katsmeow-afk nice idea for treads too
19:35 zhanx thanks
19:35 zhanx found a cellphone charging it now to see if the battery will power it
20:22 katsmeow-afk ok, hole thru 10+ inches of concrete, big enough on the inside to insert a 2" pvc with elbow on it, not big enough on the outside hole where it's 3ft below grade, but i am done making noise to tonite, it's all dark outside
20:23 katsmeow-afk i think i should prolly run all the conduit and water line i should ever want thru that hole before pouring it up with cement
20:26 sw0rdfish hey
20:26 tsmeow-afk looks exhau
20:30 katsmeow-afk feel free to go "awwwwwwwwwwww", and bring me a cup of milk, a frosty glass of Bailey's , a platter of broiled salmon, and a side of chicken lasagna
20:34 katsmeow-afk feel free to bring that drink and food now :-)
20:35 ace4016 grr...my HVAC unit isn't working :/
20:37 katsmeow-afk all the letters aren't working? but you don't need H and AC at the same time,, or the V, else,, errmm ,, why?
20:40 katsmeow-afk i have not used mine yet, mostly because i pulled it and dropped it on the floor when i got done with the fiasco of movng, and it still has detritus from the squirrel nest in it
20:48 katsmeow-afk it will get down to 70F tonite, so the house will cool a lot
20:49 katsmeow-afk 66F at 7am Thor'sDay morning
20:50 katsmeow-afk 63F the next morning
20:50 katsmeow-afk might hit 52F Saturn'sDay morning at 4am, if that cold front finally gets here
21:07 katsmeow-afk ...
21:18 katsmeow-afk "so, you grow strawberries?" "yes, i do" "do you know how many people die of cancer from eating your strawberries?" "as far as we know, none!" "So there could be zero deaths, as far as you know? But you do *not* know, so there could be 100's of people in this state alone that die as a result of eating your strawberries?"
21:29 katsmeow-afk "but there can't be cancer caused by eating strawberries!" "you look very nervous sir, are you concerend more for your profit than human lives? is this farm owned by the mafia? ... News At 6: local farm being questioned about mafia ownership!"
21:30 katsmeow-afk "no i did not say i own 6,020 pigs, i said i owned 6 sows and 20 pigs"
21:35 katsmeow-afk "mumble mumble mumble" "did you say the moon looks green tonite?" "News at 6: local astronomer caught on tape announcing the moon looks green tonight!"
21:37 katsmeow-afk you'd think some of this stuff doesn't happen, but i got pulled over by local cops the other evening for not driving a Buick LaSalle
21:37 katsmeow-afk all i could say was i wasn't told to
21:38 katsmeow-afk the cop had read the tag wrong to the dispatcher
21:40 katsmeow-afk then he said i wasn't wearing a seatbelt, so i pointed to my crotch and said "i am too", well, i pointed to the lap belt, that nite was prolly one of the few times one get away with not driving a Buick, and point a cop to your cro,, seatbelt
21:53 rue_shop so he managed to find ground to let you off?
22:04 rue_shop summersault, hi
22:25 Tom_itx i suppose graybar only sells spools of wire
22:25 Tom_itx i don't need 1000 ft
22:25 Tom_itx dammit
22:29 Tom_itx belden 4C18-FSWB-PLTC-BK-R-BED
22:43 rue_shop ok I put the 'keyway' in the bolt
22:45 rue_shop wonder if I should run a conduit or just do the wire when I get there
22:46 katsmeow-afk if you aren't going to be changing it, i'd just epoxy it into the groove
22:47 rue_shop thats why I'm thinking epoxying in a tube
22:48 katsmeow-afk Your search for 4C18-FSWB-PLTC-BK-R-BED returned 0 results.
22:49 rue_shop yup, 30 guage magnet wire goes doen this tube just great
22:49 katsmeow-afk what aer you using for a tube?
22:50 rue_shop its like wire jacket
22:50 katsmeow-afk umm, k
22:52 katsmeow-afk i made a jig some 20 yrs ago to hold floss just the way i want it, it involved brazing a couple nails into a 3/8 rod, and then spiral grooving the nails to bring the floss to string tween the tips of the sawed-off nails
22:53 katsmeow-afk i cut the grooves with the thinnest disk available for the dremel
22:53 katsmeow-afk and then deburred the grooves
22:54 katsmeow-afk i should put pics online, soon as i find the camera cables again
23:04 katsmeow-afk ah, itIS online
23:07 katsmeow-afk i see why,, i didn't link to the 1.6 megabit images
23:11 rue_shop this looks great kat
23:11 rue_shop I'll post images in a bit
23:13 katsmeow-afk why the hck will imagemagick mogrify one image and not the other??
23:14 rue_shop (8-o I didn't know they ported that to windows
23:14 katsmeow-afk ah, out of memory

23:15 rue_shop well kat, I'v been thinking about how to make this castor sensor for a lot of years now, and you just solved one of the biggest problems for trying to implement it on this
23:16 katsmeow-afk i could swear i gave you the same data last time
23:16 katsmeow-afk maybe it was deja vu in advance
23:18 katsmeow-afk i had forgotten the Ronettes too
23:20 katsmeow-afk Some of the group's most famous songs include "Be My Baby", "Baby, I Love You", "(The Best Part Of) Breakin' Up", and "Walking in the Rain." The songs became big hits and charted on the Billboard Hot 100. "Be My Baby" was played constantly on the radio, and "Walking in the Rain" received a Grammy Award in 1965.[1]

23:21 katsmeow-afk After being denied a release of their first recording, and having the credit for their next four recordings going to another group, the Ronettes went to work on the Phil Spector, Jeff Barry, and Ellie Greenwich song "Be My Baby." The Ronettes recorded "Be My Baby" in July 1963, and it was released in August. By the fall of that year, it had become a top ten hit, peaking at number two on the Billboard Top 100.

23:23 rue_mohr :) thanks kat
23:23 rue_mohr armouring that little exposed bit will be interesting
23:24 katsmeow-afk not really, just groove the inside of the wheel fork ;-)
23:24 katsmeow-afk no humans will be able to figure out how you got the wire to the top of that bolt
23:25 rue_mohr I thought about that, but routing it out would be trickier, I have ideas on how to do it
23:26 katsmeow-afk a dremel with a used cutoff disk can get into that radius
23:26 katsmeow-afk it's why i save the used lil disks
23:27 katsmeow-afk but either way, glad i could help
23:27 rue_mohr its the washer there and stuff, I dont know if I want to cut a groove downt eh alum fork
23:27 tsmeow-afk
23:27 katsmeow-afk "tricky" isn't always easy
23:28 katsmeow-afk nukebox said dinner is ready
23:31 rue_mohr http://sensi.org/~svo/fogmoz/?cid=12
23:31 rue_mohr kat, its not xkcd, but its entertaining
23:35 tsmeow-afk nods, but it's not you ei
23:35 rue_mohr http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/mowerbot2/p1040033.jpg there is a collar there I'm gonna shorten and make a ring brush with some copper clad
23:35 rue_mohr for transferring power
23:36 katsmeow-afk http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/robots/mowerbot2/p1040033.jpg ?
23:36 rue_mohr I havn't been able to isolate and retain anything for a good cartoon
23:36 rue_mohr where the tube comes out by the fork
23:36 katsmeow-afk i was going to use some stainless tube on the shaft, and a spring clip to rub on it
23:37 rue_mohr then again, the top bit by the nut will be in a box
23:37 rue_mohr I can run 2 wires down the tube
23:38 rue_mohr the clad board could have the led holder on it and the commutator for the power
23:38 katsmeow-afk but you wouldn't have the copepr rubbing on anything, right? it's real thin and pretty soft copper
23:38 rue_mohr the copper clad would be the commutator, I have gouging rod I can make brushes from
23:39 katsmeow-afk got a dead alternator? <!presto!> two slip rings!
23:39 katsmeow-afk i think you'll wear the copeprclad away real fast
23:39 rue_mohr yyou just strip back the copper, put them in a tube with a spring dropped behind them
23:39 rue_mohr I think it'll be ok
23:40 rue_mohr its not going any measurable rpm
23:40 katsmeow-afk k
23:40 rue_mohr hmm I can take it down as like 12V and regulate it at the wheel, that will help the noise margin
23:40 tsmeow-afk is scarfing down dinner while you
23:40 rue_mohr oh my!
23:40 rue_mohr I need to be scarfing dinner too!
