08:54 rue_house katsmeow-afk, thanks for keeping the channel warm there kat
09:07 saschi hi :)
11:24 delinquentme hey rue_house I think you sent me some link to a general electrical tutorial that you liked.... was that one you had saved for its quality or was that just a quick google search?
15:15 delinquentme accuracy vrs resolution?
15:45 Tom_itx katsmeow-afk look what i stumbled on today for heatsinks for my drivers: http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/temp/cnc/psu/heatsink1.jpg
15:45 Tom_itx i had em slice off about 3' for me
15:46 furrywolf nice. what'd you pay?
15:47 Tom_itx $18
15:47 Tom_itx well $7 a pound
15:48 furrywolf not too bad for new, pretty high for scrap.
15:48 katsmeow-afk get the rest of it!!
15:48 Tom_itx http://www.pmdx.com/Heatsink-01
15:48 Tom_itx helluva lot cheaper than that
15:49 delinquentme TIL difference between resolution and accuracy!!!
15:49 katsmeow-afk i learned that 40 years ago in highschool!
15:50 delinquentme easy way to remember it? A company makes the resolution higher than accuracy .. bc they resolve to make it that good!
15:50 delinquentme IDK if thats useful for anyone :P
15:50 Tom_itx i was hoping to find some channel or something to use :)
15:51 katsmeow-afk can you get the rest of the channel they cut you a piece off of?
15:52 Tom_itx unless somebody else grabs it
15:52 Tom_itx i won't need more than i got i doubt
15:52 katsmeow-afk someone migh buy it from you tho <cough>
15:52 Tom_itx i'll make a mount for 4 drivers and that'll take about a foot probably
15:53 Tom_itx it would cost quite a bit to ship i bet
15:53 katsmeow-afk not in 3ft sections
15:53 katsmeow-afk afaik
15:53 Tom_itx there may only be 4 or 5' left approx
15:53 tsmeow-afk is going to quit arguing with Tom
15:53 Tom_itx i was rather pleased to find it
15:54 Tom_itx i didn't say i wouldn't try to get it
15:54 Tom_itx it'll probably be tomorrow
15:54 tsmeow-afk
15:55 Tom_itx i could have em slice it in half and then i could put it together so it was smooth to ship
15:55 tsmeow-afk nods a
15:56 Tom_itx you really want it??
15:56 katsmeow-afk unless i can find some locally
15:56 katsmeow-afk good heatsink is hard to find
15:56 Tom_itx yup
16:02 katsmeow-afk http://compare.ebay.com/like/310371471690?_lwgsi=y&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar

16:52 Tom_itx so i should cut it up and sell it on ebay?
16:53 katsmeow-afk <cough>
16:53 katsmeow-afk that's your call
16:54 katsmeow-afk but it's a waste to see it get scrapped
17:11 Tom_itx it won't get scrapped
17:42 SolarNRG Evening
17:43 SolarNRG I want to mass produce gears, I have the template, but I want to make flexible ice cube tray molds of them, do you think this would be any good: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silicone-RTV-Mould-Making-Rubber-Shore-30-10Kg-kit-/150790752956?pt=UK_Crafts_DrawingSupplies_EH&hash=item231bd44abc
17:44 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/sumo_files/sumo_wheelmold_index.php
17:44 Tom_itx same stuff
17:45 SolarNRG I wanna do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tf-F0O9J1nA#!
17:46 SolarNRG Only with my tank gears
17:48 Tom_itx you need a vaccuum chamber to do it right
17:49 SolarNRG The ebay link says you don't need a vacuum chamber, only mix thoroughly and correctly, pour slowly and tap to get the air bubbles out
17:49 SolarNRG Shall I buy it?
17:50 Tom_itx i'm not your decision maker
17:50 SolarNRG No but I respect your advice Tom
17:50 Tom_itx i made my sumo wheels with it
17:50 Tom_itx gears for what?
17:51 SolarNRG An army of heliostats to save the world's energy problems
17:51 SolarNRG Here are my gears: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmG8_jvi1l8
17:51 SolarNRG And here's the problems I've been having with bentonite green sand: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoZHta8giAI
17:54 Tom_itx no release on the part?
17:54 Tom_itx you need release agent
17:54 SolarNRG Olive oil?
17:55 SolarNRG TBH I'm thinking of nuking my own ABS gears in a microwave with DIY rubber moulds
17:55 Tom_itx i used spray on mold release
17:55 SolarNRG Got a link?
17:55 Tom_itx no
17:55 SolarNRG You think stick with the greensand?
17:55 Tom_itx i have no idea
17:55 Tom_itx never used it
17:55 Tom_itx it's used for casting
17:56 Tom_itx the mold release i used was for fiberglass
17:56 Tom_itx green in color
17:57 SolarNRG know a good brand name?
17:57 Tom_itx no
17:57 SolarNRG where did u get it?
17:58 Tom_itx local fiberglass supply
17:58 SolarNRG USA?
17:58 Tom_itx yup
18:11 amine hy all,i need some help in rotor balancing (influence coefficients method)
18:12 SolarNRG I'm sure the wheel balancing place might help for cheap
18:12 SolarNRG At the car garage!
19:08 katsmeow-afk whoopee, i got water pressure outside for a moment!
19:08 katsmeow-afk fittings at tthe pump leaked, so i shut down, disassembled, dried, and pipe-doped them, will let dry overnite
19:09 Tom_itx pvc?
19:10 katsmeow-afk no, fiberglass reinforced black stuff
19:10 katsmeow-afk threaded
19:10 Tom_itx oh
19:12 katsmeow-afk it was sucking air and spraying water, but i got plenty of pressure anyhow
19:14 katsmeow-afk it's a lil portable 1/2 hp "booster" pump
19:14 Tom_itx oh
19:16 katsmeow-afk it's basically this, with a carrying handle, but minus the pressure switch http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-25ecodZ5yc1v/R-100142693/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=flotec&storeId=10051
19:17 katsmeow-afk atm, the creek is prolly flowing 10gpm, so i got a pump rated 10gpm at 30psi (since the lift is going to be ~60ft up)
19:18 katsmeow-afk and then the 0.5 micron filter is rated 6gpm flow, so again 10gpm is fine for that
19:19 katsmeow-afk the 20micron filter is rated faster flow, but so is the pump when not pumping up 60ft of mountainside
19:23 rue_house kat I think a trip thru your stuff collection would be verry interesting indeed
19:24 Tom_itx rue_house did you see my big score today?
19:24 rue_house yes
19:25 rue_house question
19:25 Tom_itx funny, they've never had stuff like that before and that was just what i was after
19:25 rue_house how did you take a photo of your heatsink on my workbench?
19:25 Tom_itx trick photography
19:25 katsmeow-afk telescopic lens, of course
19:26 Tom_itx everybody needs a good workbench
19:26 Tom_itx i should show you my steel table
19:27 Tom_itx it's just to the right of that table
19:29 rue_house did Z finish his cnc?
19:29 Tom_itx far as i know he did
19:30 Tom_itx i think he's got women on the brain right now
19:30 rue_house darn, he seemed to have such promise too
19:31 Tom_itx no offense kat
19:31 rue_house it dosn't matter what sex you are, getting a partner will screw up your life
19:31 Tom_itx no kidding
19:31 rue_house I'm one to talk tho :)
19:32 rue_house I'm just sour cause I'm an alien and nobody will date me
19:32 Tom_itx well just look at all the free time you have though :)
19:33 tsmeow-afk enjoys the free time also, but would like to go places with someone occasion
19:34 katsmeow-afk if zhanx thinks it's bad now, that he can't leave robots laying around, wait till there's a unprogrammed human baby going around falling on sharp stuff and sticking things into it's mouth
19:40 rue_house yea, I dont really go to a lot of movies cause I dont like going alone.
19:41 katsmeow-afk 900 PC'S ELECTROLYT?IC CAPACITORS 47MF 25V 20% RADIAL
19:41 katsmeow-afk 0 Bids: $9.99
19:41 Tom_itx i wish i had a couple of those nice ones you posted the other day
19:41 rue_house not for pc's tho, they dont use 25V
19:41 katsmeow-afk nice whiches?
19:41 rue_house pc's use 16V and 6.3V
19:41 Tom_itx big caps
19:42 katsmeow-afk you can use 25, it's just overkill
19:42 rue_house if they are 25V listed as computer, they are not low ESR
19:42 rue_house and therefore of little use for computers
19:43 katsmeow-afk yeas, i woldn't use them in psu circuits
19:43 Tom_itx i wonder if i dare try cutting that with my circular saw
19:43 rue_house I wouldn't use them in HF switching
19:43 rue_house Tom_itx, fine carbide bit and your ok
19:43 Tom_itx 60 tooth
19:43 rue_house carbide?
19:43 Tom_itx yeah
19:43 rue_house go slow
19:44 Tom_itx it's on a radial arm though, it might grab
19:44 rue_house maybe a dash of cutting
19:44 rue_house start out
19:44 Tom_itx i could raise the blade i suppose
19:44 rue_house the boat shop up here just uses carbide blades
19:44 katsmeow-afk clamp firmly, if the saw grabs it, it can throw it thru sheetrock
19:44 katsmeow-afk go slowly
19:45 Tom_itx i know. i still have all 9 fingers
19:45 katsmeow-afk k
19:46 Tom_itx i've seen it done but it still bothers me
19:46 rue_house you were born with an extra finger?
19:46 Tom_itx no, i counted all 3 thumbs
19:46 katsmeow-afk i've done it, and it's one of the few things that still scare me
19:46 Tom_itx i'm afraid it'll bend all the fins
19:46 Tom_itx and i don't want that
19:47 Tom_itx i thought about cutting some wood to fit inbetween them
19:47 katsmeow-afk why not use the bandsaw? it's much safer
19:47 Tom_itx cause i don't have one
19:47 katsmeow-afk you need one
19:48 Tom_itx i may take it back where i got it and let em cut it for me again
19:48 rue_house just do it
19:48 rue_house its pretty soft stuff
19:48 rue_house I swear there are harder woods
19:48 katsmeow-afk you can cut alum with an abrasive disc if you don't go so fast it clogs up
19:49 Tom_itx i might try that
19:49 Tom_itx i have a small one of those
19:50 rue_house it'll clog up instantly
19:50 rue_house use your carbide blade
19:51 katsmeow-afk big abrasives clog less, those 4inch minidiscs have very small pores
19:51 rue_house UsE ThE CaRbIdE SaW BlAdE
19:51 Tom_itx i may try that
19:55 katsmeow-afk how many inches is 7mm?
19:55 Tom_itx i'm not gonna cut it until i get the drives though
19:56 rue_house You have: 7mm
19:56 rue_house You want: inch
19:56 rue_house * 0.27559055
19:56 Tom_itx .27556

20:45 katsmeow-afk i was wondering when that would happen
20:45 katsmeow-afk legally speaking, a being is better off now if unborn or a dog

21:20 zhanx thats big
21:20 Tom_itx i had em whack off 3' for me
21:20 Tom_itx 5" wide
21:20 zhanx nice
21:21 zhanx should work good
21:21 Tom_itx cheaper than this for sure: http://www.pmdx.com/Heatsink-01
21:21 zhanx yep
