00:03 katsmeow-afk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-source_robotics
00:10 katsmeow-afk the first for-profit interpreter Bill Gates was part of selling was for the Altair 8800 , and MITS sold the interpreter for $500 a pop, giving Gates (and Paul Allen) $30 for the 4K version, $35 for the 8K version and $60 for the expanded version
00:11 katsmeow-afk had i known that then, i'd have gotten a much earlier start on disliking them
00:16 katsmeow-afk my idea is that if it was worth $500, then MITS could sell it for $500 TO THE FIRST CUSTOMER, and turn over all $500 to Gates, but thereafter Gates did no more writing to it, so wasn't owed a dime, and MITS should charge only for the time and the floppy disk
00:17 katsmeow-afk that said, a copy of BASIC for $500 40 years ago when $500 was worth a lot more, and winxp is now $100?
00:19 katsmeow-afk (4kbytes / 100gigabytes) * $100 = $0.000004 <<== what proportionally that BASIC should have cost, not counting inflation
00:25 katsmeow-afk Computer clubs and individuals from all parts of the United States and the world soon created Tiny BASIC interpreters for the Intel 8080, the Motorola 6800 and MOS Technology 6502 processors. The assembly language source code was published or the software was sold for five or ten dollars.
00:25 rue_house I turned away again
00:26 rue_house I clicked the xkcd and then , as usuall, got distracted by them
00:27 katsmeow-afk http://vimeo.com/34187175
00:27 katsmeow-afk amke it remote control and AI'd
00:27 rue_house :/ I wanted to weld soemthing today
00:29 katsmeow-afk MAN those guys in that video work fast
00:31 rue_house but you cant do bolts thru squarestock like that
00:31 rue_house it caves in and the bolts come loose
00:31 katsmeow-afk right, it crushes eventually, getting looser
00:31 katsmeow-afk ;-)
00:31 rue_house ah, it looks 1/4" thick, so it'll happen slow
00:31 katsmeow-afk needs solid or pipe or tubing inserts around the bolts inside
00:32 rue_house usually via making a hole big enough for the pipe and welding it flush in
00:32 rue_house they, .... weleded the hydraulic motors on?
00:33 katsmeow-afk looks like it!
00:33 rue_house *blink*
00:33 katsmeow-afk welded to aplate, the bolted the plate tot he tractor
00:33 rue_house I give them credit for this: they built something
00:33 katsmeow-afk yeas, i'd luv to have that thing too
00:33 rue_house and couplers to the mtoor shaft
00:34 katsmeow-afk they still had to have spend $1000's onit for the engine and hydraulics
00:34 rue_house no standard wheel hubs?
00:34 katsmeow-afk cheap compared to a Case or JD, ut still out of my reach
00:34 katsmeow-afk nope
00:35 katsmeow-afk note all the weight is on the studs too, not a centering boss
00:35 rue_house well I asked you for a project to help me into big projects..
00:35 rue_house those axles look small?
00:35 katsmeow-afk i have so many sidetracked projects i cannot stand it
00:35 rue_house maybe its cause of how far out they are
00:36 katsmeow-afk yeas, some of the build is undersized
00:37 katsmeow-afk i'd have for sure built up where theu punched such big holes thru the square tubing
00:37 rue_house some of their technique looks great
00:37 katsmeow-afk must be a fortune in valves
00:37 rue_house I like how all the hydrolics are disconnectable
00:37 rue_house oh or not?
00:37 katsmeow-afk not
00:38 rue_house it looked for a bit like everything had quick connectors on it
00:38 katsmeow-afk the motors do, i dunno why
00:39 rue_house one of my helpers at work today fell 10' when a ladder slipped out from under him :(
00:39 katsmeow-afk yyeas, i think i'd have made those axles 1/2 inch heavier
00:40 rue_house its stupid busy and being a person down is gonna bite
00:40 katsmeow-afk i visegrip or rope ladders to things now
00:40 rue_house I dont really know how big car axles are
00:40 rue_house it was a non-rubber-footed ladder on smoth concrete
00:41 rue_house I dont know what he was thinking
00:41 katsmeow-afk forget car axles, farms will load up equipment till it cannot carry more, think 10ton trucks or more
00:41 rue_house so I need to master the iphone for when they become available free for robot controllers
00:42 katsmeow-afk i carried 6000 lbs in a F250 (super-rebuilt), and carried 4000 in this 1-ton dually
00:42 rue_house I'm gonna have to do something to the S10 rear suspension
00:42 katsmeow-afk carried 6000 nearly every otehr day for a year
00:42 rue_house unstraiten the springs or someting ;)
00:42 katsmeow-afk i broke 4 leaves in the Suburban's readend
00:43 katsmeow-afk it's now got 12-leaf springs holding it up
00:43 katsmeow-afk this dually has a broken spring too, but by the rust i can see it happened before i got it
00:47 katsmeow-afk those dopes, positioned and held each chain link separately by hand to weld it : http://vimeo.com/30354026
00:48 katsmeow-afk and wore a cotton button up shirt while welding 12 inches from his belly
00:48 rue_house is that rebar cold bent?
00:49 rue_house oh my...
00:49 rue_house that must have taken...
00:49 rue_house or not
00:49 katsmeow-afk cold, it's cheaper
00:49 katsmeow-afk they had a lot to bend
00:51 rue_house I dont understand all the effort to make a tractor as strange as that
00:51 katsmeow-afk yep, 3 inches of weld bead on each side othe hydralic motors, but no bolts holding them on
00:51 rue_house must have done awefull things to the motors
00:51 katsmeow-afk making it is TONS cheaper than buying it, and you aren't locked into a certain oem's parts
00:52 rue_house but you could build soemtijng to a much mroe standard design
00:52 rue_house was it a bobcat they were designine after?
00:52 katsmeow-afk holyshirt, they didn't use long enough bolts to properly use the nylock nuts in http://vimeo.com/30152906
00:52 katsmeow-afk yeas
00:53 rue_house hmm
00:53 katsmeow-afk but in a diy design you can add a pto easily, change out the engine to some other engine, etc
00:53 rue_house uh...
00:53 rue_house I had a dream...
00:53 rue_house one of the robotics kids said to me...
00:54 rue_house whats in this email from him
00:54 katsmeow-afk omd, they used common bolts on everyting too, not even grade5
00:54 rue_house but I remember him standing infront of me saying it
00:54 rue_house does the frame have any diagonal members?
00:54 katsmeow-afk no
00:55 rue_house didn't think I saw any
00:56 rue_house cause the frame is all single bolts
00:56 katsmeow-afk yanno, for the cost of new pillow blocks , and new wheel shaft, a junked truck axle would have been cheaper, and you'd have a proper wheel hub and brakes
00:56 rue_house oo they have to brake on the hydraulics
00:56 katsmeow-afk yep
00:57 rue_house gnight kat
00:57 rue_house I need to build a hand
00:57 katsmeow-afk omg, they welded an extenion to the output shaft of the hydraulc motors
00:57 rue_house yea, you didn't notice?
00:57 rue_house gnight kat
00:57 katsmeow-afk not till i saw 3:00 in http://vimeo.com/30152906
00:58 rue_house I think I should junk togethor the hand under video and have us review it
00:59 katsmeow-afk woah, they twisted the splined section of one axle
00:59 rue_house what?
00:59 rue_house they aren't soft!?
00:59 rue_house dont they snap?
01:00 katsmeow-afk http://vimeo.com/30152906 , 4:15 into it
01:00 katsmeow-afk my motto, if you aren't going to artificaiily restrict what it carries, then overbuild it at least 2x plus saftey factor
01:02 rue_house I think they have a pipe welded over the shaft with the spline
01:02 rue_house cant tell
01:02 rue_house katsmeow-afk, do you have a press?
01:02 katsmeow-afk see their plate cutter at 4:15?
01:03 rue_house I have a 4 ton jack I think I should make a press for
01:03 katsmeow-afk no, i can make one up fast tho, i have longthrow cylinders and steel laying around
01:03 rue_house I'z just thinking one of those ones you put a hyd jack into
01:04 rue_house http://www.hydraulicpressnow.com/20-ton-H-hydraulic-press.jpg
01:05 katsmeow-afk yeas
01:05 rue_house I prolly have enough bedframe to make a light one
01:06 katsmeow-afk usually it's a longer length to the floor, i have some jacks with 2ft strokes
01:06 katsmeow-afk bedframe is tough , but not 12ton tough, it will bend
01:06 rue_house :)
01:06 rue_house 1 ton would do me
01:07 rue_house double up all the iron
01:07 katsmeow-afk remember what will happen if it breaks with a ton of stress on it
01:07 rue_house it'll spring 1" to release the tension
01:08 rue_house I think bedframe could do a *narrow* 1 ton
01:08 rue_house http://i01.i.aliimg.com/photo/v1/50532569/30T_Hydraulic_Shop_Press.jpg
01:08 rue_house tho, for maybe $100 in steel? I could make something more properly sized
01:09 katsmeow-afk http://i01.i.aliimg.com/photo/v1/50532569/30T_Hydraulic_Shop_Press.jpg is WAY too wide for bedframe, even if you add diagonals
01:09 rue_house yea
01:09 rue_house bedframe maybe 12"
01:09 rue_house assuming the metal is doubled/quadrupled up
01:09 katsmeow-afk yeas, get some 3inch channel, add bedframe diagonals to stiffen it, or,, hey, you can weld now! ,, but use grade8 bolts too
01:10 rue_house yea
01:10 rue_house I'd weld up the frame and use the gr 8 as the pins
01:11 rue_house hey! goodnight already!
01:11 rue_house your gonna kill me tommorow
01:11 rue_house geeesh
01:11 katsmeow-afk gnites
01:25 katsmeow-afk in china today: After the increase on Tuesday, benchmark diesel will be about $1.22 (76p) per litre and 90-octane petrol about $1.17, although prices vary by region.
01:40 katsmeow-afk However, all Indiana streams and lakes are designated to meet the use of "full body contact recreation", or swimming............The 1994-95 Indiana 305(b) Report (the most recent statewide assessment of water quality available) reported that about 81% of assessed waters did not support the "whole body contact recreation" (swimming) use due to frequent high E. coli levels.
01:40 katsmeow-afk in the same paper
01:41 katsmeow-afk Sampling in tributaries of Eagle Creek have found levels as high as 160,000 CFU/100 mL, or about 680 times the maximum allowed for recreation.
01:41 katsmeow-afk For water to meet the recreation standards, the geometric mean of 5 samples over a 30-day period is required to be less than 125 CFU/100 mL, with no sample testing higher than 235 CFU/100 mL.
01:42 katsmeow-afk Of 208 waterbodies on the 303(d) list, 44 have E. coli as one of the TMDL parameters. High E. coli levels were in fact found in many of the remaining 164 waterbodies, but due to quality control problems in the sampling were taken off the list.
01:46 katsmeow-afk Much of Indiana's 36,000 miles of rivers, 106,000 acres of lakes, and 43 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline do not currently meet water quality standards for recreation.
01:46 katsmeow-afk https://engineering.purdue.edu/SafeWater/watershed/ecoli.html
01:57 katsmeow-afk "In 1987, 13,000 people in Carrollton, Georgia, became ill with cryptosporidiosis. This was the first report of its spread through a municipal water system that met all state and federal drinking water standards."<< that's a lie, that water system is down stream of a cow pasture
01:58 katsmeow-afk every heavy rain people get sick from the cow shit washed into the drinking water
01:58 home I want a CNC machine
01:58 katsmeow-afk the locals know to drink bottled water during tis time
02:01 Triffid_Hunter katsmeow-afk: either that, or the federal standards are crap
02:04 katsmeow-afk i was there 5 years, the water system didn't give a damn, and neither did the farmer
02:05 katsmeow-afk like here, where they say no farmer allows his cows into waterways, there's a cow pasture on the local lake and i have often seen cows in the lake
03:46 sinbad22 Im communicating by serial port. I stick in my motion tracker and it immediately starts measuring. I run my program and it opens the serial port. I send it a message to go to config mode. It sends an ack. I tell it to set an output option. It gives an ack. I tell it to go into measurement mode. It gives an ack then data. I only want to store the data. I dont care about acks. When should I
03:46 sinbad22 flush the serial port?
04:19 katsmeow-afk http://www.robotis.com/xe/darwin_en
04:20 katsmeow-afk price: $12,000
04:21 katsmeow-afk http://www.robotis.com/xe/bioloid_en
04:22 katsmeow-afk $349 to $2,799
04:23 katsmeow-afk the bioloid can make several different robots with the same parts
04:26 katsmeow-afk servos from $44 to $499 each : http://www.robotis.com/xe/dynamixel_en
09:03 rue_house too small for hands
09:17 rue_house yea you can get a lot of cool stuff if you can pour enough money into it
11:14 Skwint :(
11:14 Skwint gods - I go away for 3 months and I forget everything - can't make my progammer work :(
12:13 Skwint I hate fighting my computer :(
12:13 Skwint I'm trying to use a pololu AVR programmer on my axon 2
12:13 Skwint it _used_ to work, but now it won't connect
12:13 Skwint many forum posts say I should check the com ports, but my windows 7 machine doesn't have a ports section under the device manager
12:13 Skwint a few forum posts say I can fix that in bios, but I can't
12:14 Skwint anyone here had this problem before and know how to fix it?
12:24 codygo there are tools to add com ports
13:11 katsmeow-afk skwint,, maybe ...... he's gone
13:11 katsmeow-afk then i won't tell him
13:11 tsmeow-afk sne
13:13 katsmeow-afk wow, that storm is so slow, it's still in Tx, and just barely made it to the Lousyanna line
13:13 katsmeow-afk causing tornadoes too
14:51 katsmeow-afk the air outside has so much smoke my eyes sting from it
14:52 katsmeow-afk ashes are falling from the sky
14:52 katsmeow-afk this is legal, and humans do this as much as they can
14:55 Steffanx katsmeow-afk ?
14:56 Steffanx Ashes falling from the sky?
14:58 katsmeow-afk yeas
14:59 katsmeow-afk you know, thin hunks of charred material like paper, leaves, etc?
14:59 Steffanx They're burning it right now?
15:00 katsmeow-afk yeas
15:00 katsmeow-afk the whole side of this county, as far as i can see, is buried under smoke
15:00 Steffanx Special event?
15:01 Steffanx It illegal here to burn things in your garden
15:01 Steffanx *it's
15:01 Steffanx Unless you use something like this http://www.skippy-rent.nl/pics/skippy-rent/shop/producten/details/Vuurkorf.jpg
15:02 katsmeow-afk it's specifically legal here to burn anything that grows on your property, and if anything gets burned "accidently", it's legal too
15:05 Tom_itx it hangs in the valleys and stays there
15:05 katsmeow-afk http://my20percent.wordpress.com/2012/02/27/baseball-cap-head-up-displa/
15:08 rue_house so far today: 6 voicemails, 4 texts, and 18 phonecalls
15:10 katsmeow-afk so no works done, just answering the new phone?
15:10 rue_house it'd be the same wit the old phone
15:11 rue_house sometimes, I'm surprised I get 5 mins without it going off
15:11 katsmeow-afk turn it off
15:11 katsmeow-afk the company has a secretary to answer the phone for you
15:11 rue_house no
15:11 rue_house they dont
15:12 rue_house there are 3 jobs today that I'm the comm hub on
15:12 katsmeow-afk o
15:12 rue_house 2 or 3 others that I'm doing work on
15:17 KongfuPanda katsmeow-afk, what does that baseball cap do in a few words?
15:18 katsmeow-afk it holds the electronics and optics on your head
15:19 katsmeow-afk the optics show you what's on the phone display
15:19 katsmeow-afk the phone runs an app that shows a download of wikitude
15:19 katsmeow-afk wikitude sends data about what the phone says you are looking at
15:20 katsmeow-afk so you have an overlaid video of data on your vision, a "heads up display"
15:20 katsmeow-afk or, you can read email and webbrowse, except in that setup you cannot press the buttons on the phone
15:22 katsmeow-afk think "fighter pilot loooks left, sees the border of Canada and usa superimposed on the forest below, and looking to his right he sees the data about the SAM missile coming at him"
15:22 KongfuPanda sounds fun
15:22 KongfuPanda when will it be on the market?
15:22 KongfuPanda :D
15:23 katsmeow-afk err, you can buy versions of it now, hard to find, no one really wants them, or make your own
15:23 KongfuPanda katsmeow-afk, I was thinking the other day that it would be nice it GPS was placed in car glass and showed overlap with road surface, like an arrow or something
15:24 katsmeow-afk one car company does that already
15:24 katsmeow-afk the Tektronix 7S14 sold for $5785 in 1985, now it sells for $11.50
15:25 rue_house aparently when you get used to the latency your screwed for viewing the real world for a while
15:25 KongfuPanda_ oops, I got dc
15:26 katsmeow-afk glass and showed overlap with road surface, like an arrow or something
15:26 katsmeow-afk [15:15] <katsmeow-afk> one car company does that already
15:26 katsmeow-afk [15:15] <katsmeow-afk> the Tektronix 7S14 sold for $5785 in 1985, now it sells for $11.50
15:26 katsmeow-afk [15:15] <rue_house> aparently when you get used to the latency your screwed for viewing the real world for a while
15:26 katsmeow-afk [15:16] <KongfuPanda_> oops, I got dc
15:26 KongfuPanda_ cool cool
15:28 KongfuPanda rue_house, I heard about an experiment, that a guy was wearing special glasses that turn the world upsidedown (that was a brain experiment). So that the sounds you hear and other stuff are not syncronised with what you see.
15:28 KongfuPanda But our brain apparently can adjust to this, and so after some time his brain synchronised with this, and he was doing everything normally
15:28 katsmeow-afk yeas, many different glasses have been used
15:29 KongfuPanda but after he took off the glasses the world was not upsidedown :D
15:29 KongfuPanda is this a true experiment?
15:29 katsmeow-afk glasses with servos so the wold sways like you're drunk
16:09 katsmeow-afk oooo, a ~ delimited db, which is ~like a tab delimited db, but with ~ instead of tab ....................................... chars
16:10 katsmeow-afk aka /t \t $tab %tab, etc
16:49 SolarNRG I'm getting my can melter on THursday, YAY
16:49 SolarNRG I'll try make a mount for my stepper motors
16:49 SolarNRG I'll show you guys a vid
16:50 SolarNRG When its done
17:14 katsmeow-afk you are *buying* a can melter?
17:15 SolarNRG yeah, custom made1
17:15 katsmeow-afk from rue?
17:15 SolarNRG nah from some dude
17:15 katsmeow-afk :-|
17:34 katsmeow-afk omd
17:34 tsmeow-afk shudders at this
17:35 katsmeow-afk her toes are being compressed into hamburger and extruded thru the holes in toes of the shoes!! ==>> http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb50014/easycrafts/images/thumb/2/2f/Studdedshoes.png/660px-1%2C662%2C0%2C360-Studdedshoes.png
17:35 katsmeow-afk that is taking "shoes are too small" to a whole different level
19:01 rue_house apple has never changed since the imac, the iphone 4g comes with a paperclip
19:02 rue_house where do I stick it to force eject the disk?
19:20 thylane All i need is a copy of The Simpsons, Season 3 Ep 4
19:21 thylane and jesus lord, searching for that has loaded my browser with more spam and popups than I can imagine
19:21 thylane The burning irony about this , is NONE of the spam and advertising has anything to do with 21st Century Fox, who "owns" the episode
19:35 zhanx https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-fUsahq0NTBE/T2kdcWlq_tI/AAAAAAAADWo/Y8-SvVPTBgc/s686/DSC_7126.JPG
20:15 thylane I keep getting in arguments with my father that the only thing robots will ever be used for is warfare
22:24 rue_house tell him my robot against his proves he's wrong
22:30 home rue_house: whats wrong
22:30 home atleast you have a robot :/
22:31 rue_house http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=S2j5Z2DPJTE
22:31 rue_house cool
22:32 rue_house I dont think it has passive compliance
22:53 katsmeow-afk nice shot of the What'shisnick star pattern, zhanx
22:54 katsmeow-afk er, zhanx gone
22:55 rue_house doncha hate that
22:56 katsmeow-afk yes
22:57 rue_house I have to clean kitty litter box, make supper and go to bed
22:58 katsmeow-afk sounds dangerous
22:58 rue_house I'd like to skip to the last stop
22:58 katsmeow-afk i dunno why you don't put the kitter box on top of mowerbot, and have it go dump it
23:00 rue_house they go thru too much, I screen it
23:00 rue_house :S
23:00 katsmeow-afk ah
23:01 katsmeow-afk one huge advantage of the place in Fla was to be it that since was all sand, i no longer had to sift litter for turds, i could wheel it out and dump it, and get new fresh sand
23:05 orlok http://182.160.128.150/Astro/EtaCar200mmB.jpg
23:07 katsmeow-afk interesting specifications for a country : Karang Argo is a reef(s) in the region of North Sumatra, the country of Indonesia with an average elevation of -75 feet below sea level. The location is sparsely populated with 0 people per mile.
23:08 katsmeow-afk howliecarps, orlok, where was the camera?
23:08 orlok heh, yes, most underwater locations are sparsely populated
23:08 katsmeow-afk i have never seen a sky with that many stars
23:08 orlok in my backyard!
23:09 katsmeow-afk where did you find all thos stars??
23:09 orlok its a nebula in the milky way
23:09 orlok as is http://182.160.128.150/Astro/TrifidLagoon.jpg - the dark stuff is dust obscuring the stars
23:09 katsmeow-afk but even away fromt he nebula, so many stars!
23:10 katsmeow-afk i am stunned
23:11 orlok they are all part of our galaxy, for the most part
23:11 katsmeow-afk there are nites here when no stars are visable
23:11 katsmeow-afk the air in Fl was much clearer tho
23:13 orlok http://182.160.128.150/Astro/OrionNebula30s.jpg - this isnt in the milky way, so much lower density of visible stars
23:13 katsmeow-afk i didn't know anyone could capture that many stars fromsea level anywhere
23:14 katsmeow-afk maybe from a mouontaintop n Chille, but not ffrom sealevel
23:15 orlok moder imaging sensors are great..
23:15 orlok modern, even
23:15 katsmeow-afk incredible
23:22 codygo hello
23:23 orlok Hello
23:23 orlok oh, i noticed something that seemed quite braindead while poking around with a CRO in a stepper controller
23:23 orlok it was stepping "normally" for 50ms
23:23 orlok and then it was idle for 50ms
23:23 orlok rather than stretching the active "steps" out over the entire duration, its as if they got the timing rite just by adding a delay
23:24 katsmeow-afk maybe it was to save power?
23:27 orlok nope, the pins are still being held in the same state
23:28 orlok and its not the sort of thinkg where power consumption is an issue
23:28 orlok it ran from 8 D cells
23:28 orlok and those would last for months
23:29 tsmeow-afk
23:29 orlok i'm using a 18Ah or so SLA now
23:29 rue_house orlok, didn't you rebuild that damn thing?
23:30 orlok rue_house: yeah, and i got it tracking _perfectly_
23:30 katsmeow-afk incredible star pics, rue
23:30 orlok Then the laptop with the code on it had a power failure (stuffed battery..)
23:31 rue_house so jab 12V ont the battery terminals (laptop end ) and get your code back
23:31 orlok and when i tried to use it the next night it seemed my timing information wasnt what i recalled
23:31 orlok yeah, minor minor setback.. it wasnt saved
23:31 orlok and i guesstimated the timer value anyway
23:31 orlok factory manages to rotate the motor once in 200 seconds
23:32 orlok i got it to rotate once in 60 seconds, and then figured out how far off my timing was
23:32 orlok so i got it to rotate once in (roughly) 200 seconds
23:32 orlok so "good enough"
23:32 orlok the annoying thig was though.. the factory handset has a pair of diagnostic pins
23:32 rue_house you never coded line drawing algs in dos did you?
23:33 orlok so i was hooking my CRO up to those to get the pulse timing information
23:33 orlok nope
23:33 rue_house mmm
23:33 orlok 8.3ms per pulse
23:33 rue_house if you had, you would know that brensham calcs would solve your timing perfectly
23:33 orlok so i think "Great, just put that into the delay loop for each step"
23:34 orlok and it span way too fast..
23:34 orlok so i hook the CRO up to the darlington array output to monitor that
23:34 orlok 8.3ms pulse timing again
23:34 orlok bit its giving me about 6 on/off cycles, then its low for 50ms!
23:35 orlok 6*8.3 = 49.8..
23:35 katsmeow-afk what does the current to the stepper do during that 50ms?
23:35 orlok Dunno.. i was just watching the high/low pin states
23:36 orlok i even hooked up two probes to two different pins
23:36 orlok same thing
23:36 orlok i mean, WTF!..
23:37 orlok Anyway - the stepper should make one step for each state change of an individual pin, correct?
23:37 tsmeow-afk looks at
23:37 orlok so 6 changes in state should equate to 12 steps
23:37 e_house panics, glances ar
23:37 orlok over 100ms
23:38 e_house quickly tries to work out what he knows, or is suppose
23:38 orlok which ends up being 8.3ms anyway...
23:38 rue_house uh right, stepper curren
23:38 katsmeow-afk you haveto tell us about rlok's servo mystery, before they get to your house, rue!
23:38 rue_house well its an inductor, so it ramps up to the current determined by the effective series resistnace
23:39 orlok Anyway - so i still have some minor timing issues to work out..
23:39 rue_house brensham
23:39 orlok but when i did have it tunning apparently "spot on" itwas tracking better than it ever has
23:40 orlok i had 600 second exposures with no noise
23:40 orlok but that may have been due to attacking the worm gear with the read stuff
23:40 orlok and hooking a cordless drill up to the input shaft and letting it run
23:40 orlok :)
23:40 katsmeow-afk read stuff? red stuff? polishing rouge?
23:41 orlok yup
23:41 orlok thats the stuff
23:41 rue_house "the difference between good and incredible, well, I can't express it in this piffle 7 bit ascii character set"
23:41 orlok polishing rouge and a cordless drill
23:41 orlok BUT also!
23:42 orlok one of my 6v SLA batteries was stuffed
23:42 orlok charger was showing it as charged when it was nowhere near
23:42 orlok but i'd been meaning to get a 12v SLA for a while anyway
23:42 orlok but that meant i wasted months of clear skies :-(
23:42 katsmeow-afk :-(
23:43 orlok ahh well, they will still be there..
23:43 rue_house I still dont have my 6 month stereogram
23:43 orlok rue_house: I cant find anything on brensham
23:43 rue_house http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bresenham%27s_line_algorithm
23:43 orlok thats cos in 6 months anything that was visible here is on the wrong side of the planet!
23:44 rue_house dont you have a south star down there?
23:44 orlok oh, yes, i know that one
23:44 katsmeow-afk Southern Cross
23:44 orlok nope, souther cross points at the south pole
23:45 orlok we dont really have a visible one
23:45 katsmeow-afk but it's south of here!
23:45 orlok hmmm
23:46 e_house gives kat a
23:46 tsmeow-afk sniff
23:47 rue_house "kat, this box contains the whole universe, obviously, its an inverted box. I thought you might want it, if you want to leave the universe, its the way out"
23:47 orlok rue_house: nah, i understand bresenhams, not the problem i have
23:47 orlok bwhahah
23:47 rue_house orlok, it will 100% solve timing
23:47 orlok very douglas adams
23:47 rue_house :)
23:47 orlok "The way out of the asylum!"
23:48 tsmeow-afk opens the box and hops up out int
23:48 orlok because everybody else is insane!
23:48 e_house wonders whats outside the
23:48 rue_house I'v never looked...
23:48 orlok rue_house: Except i dont know (exactly) how many steps per rotation or my rotational frequency
23:49 rue_house but it can solve the decimal places on your speed calculation
23:49 rue_house instead of 1 step every ~, it'll do the right number of steps
23:51 orlok but i want it to step at a constant fixed rate unless i tell it otherwise
23:51 orlok its just that fixed rate is being annoying to determine due to my source for timing information apparently being braindead and only having a 50% or so duty cycle
23:54 orlok i'm doing the timing in microseconds, just to be annoying
23:59 rue_house the box is a result of me inverting 3d shapes on the drive between work and work, cause its not like I can use the phone
