00:00 rue_house heh
00:00 katsmeow-afk you could use two of them tho
00:00 rue_house oh yea, right
00:00 katsmeow-afk with the wheel on the floor, you turn the motor on, the robot would spin
00:01 rue_house after you said that clicked in
00:05 katsmeow-afk i knew i had a pic of that online too
00:05 katsmeow-afk the rc truck in that avi reminded me, see http://designerthinking.com/images/robotics/tank,%20later%20convert%20to%20comp%20control.jpg
00:05 katsmeow-afk obviously, the small boy in the pic is not me, i was taking the pic
00:05 katsmeow-afk the truck box is in background
00:06 katsmeow-afk the rc control on the puter worked well
00:08 rue_house http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afHt_1sVQ14 <-- for those who have audio
00:28 rue_house (and havn't played the game si Uppoose)
00:32 katsmeow-afk i think i forgot about the fish in the nukebox
00:33 tsmeow-afk ponders zhanx going to
00:33 rue_house hahaha I love the portal 2 humor
00:58 pigpenguin heya
02:09 rue_house hi
02:25 katsmeow-afk hi
02:25 tobbor Hello katsmeow-afk
02:25 katsmeow-afk hi Tobbor!!!
02:25 katsmeow-afk hi Tobbor
02:25 katsmeow-afk hi tobbor
02:25 katsmeow-afk tobbor
02:25 pigpenguin tobbor
02:25 katsmeow-afk well fuck, tobbor
02:27 tsmeow-afk growls at to
02:28 tsmeow-afk pokes spacekitteh ... go round and lift his powercord and smell his exhaust fan,, report back to me
02:28 acekitteh sniffs tobbor's power
02:28 spacekitteh it smells ok o;
02:28 katsmeow-afk hmm
02:28 katsmeow-afk thanks :-)
05:16 orlok anybody awake?
07:16 horar hi folks
07:35 orlok http://182.160.128.150/Astro/Pic20120317230044NotTooBad.JPG
07:38 horar what part of the sky is this?
07:41 orlok um.. pretty much "straight up"?
07:41 orlok testing the stepper driver stuff, not doing any "serious" imaging
07:42 horar ok. i don't recognise any constellations so I figured it was just a small part of the sky.
07:42 orlok yeah, a few degrees
07:42 orlok 3x4degrees or so
07:42 horar for reference, what's the brightest star near the top?
07:43 horar are any of them visible to the naked eye?
07:44 orlok i will find out...
07:44 lok submits it to astrom
07:44 horar it's not that important. i'm tempted to grab the binoculars and go outside for a look.
07:45 orlok X-Car apparently
07:46 orlok and no, likely not visible naked eye
07:46 horar too much cloud here tonight.
07:46 orlok using a 200mm lense, 60 second exposure
07:47 horar what's the slight elongation that I see in the star images? is that tracking error or vibration?
07:48 orlok this is the first time i have had this setup powered by this system
07:48 orlok so NFI..
07:48 horar fair enough
07:48 orlok tracking rate is pretty spot on, so gear issues plus bad polar alignment
07:48 orlok but i have a 300 second exposure that looks just as good
07:49 orlok trying another 600 second before bed
07:49 horar is there a lot of light pollution where you are? there is here unfortunately.
07:50 orlok eh, its all relative
07:51 Steffanx Nice photos on your server orlok
07:51 orlok 600 looks nice too
07:51 orlok cheers!
07:51 Steffanx You forgot to take a few more photos from the moon?
07:51 orlok hahahh
07:51 orlok nah, that was a quick one with a webcam...
07:52 orlok ok, time to bring the gear in and go to sleep
07:52 orlok 'night
07:52 horar ciao
07:52 Steffanx Good night
07:52 horar Steffanx: are you working on a robot?
07:52 Steffanx No
07:53 Steffanx I should but ..
07:53 horar i'm an on again off again regular here.
07:53 horar working on this one at the moment http://infurl.net
07:54 Steffanx 2011-04-10 = atm? :)
07:54 horar the web page is not up to date, but i am working on that robot right now. :P
11:24 rue_house nmj do you have 1 or 2 detectors on each disk?
11:25 Tom_itx so what should i bring to class today?
11:25 rue_house billy bat
11:26 rue_house thats a good page hora.....
11:26 rue_house huh
11:27 rue_house http://infurl.net/lge/pic18f2620-controller-1.png <-- know what program he uses?
11:28 rue_house ah its not for breadbord, its for vero strip
11:33 delinquentme hey all .. im wondering how much a stepper motor will interact with magnetic linear encoders ...
11:41 rue_house hu?
11:41 rue_house electrical interfearance?
11:41 rue_house or do you just mean "will it work"
11:54 delinquentme yeah
11:54 delinquentme will it throw the measurement off?
11:55 delinquentme also im wondering if theres a way to pull something like a faraday cage for magnetism?
11:55 delinquentme electro.. magnetic.. spectrum
11:55 delinquentme faraday cage would do it right?
12:01 Tom_itx only as accurate as the stepper steps and encoder resolution
12:02 delinquentme Tom_itx: ? im not sure that answers the question?
12:03 Tom_itx i'm not sure of the question
12:03 delinquentme so steppers work via electromagnetism
12:03 Tom_itx ground the stepper frame
12:03 Tom_itx always
12:03 delinquentme im going to have a magnetic linear encoder within say 2" of this encoder
12:03 delinquentme should I ground it separately from the stepper leads?
12:04 delinquentme bc i've never done that but it makes sense
12:04 Tom_itx i doubt it
12:04 Tom_itx use a star ground configuration
12:04 Tom_itx ground each piece back to one point
12:07 delinquentme so grounding should handle that ... perfect
13:59 katsmeow-afk star grounding has been around forever, especially in high end audio work
13:59 katsmeow-afk and in video distribution where there;s many many signals
14:00 katsmeow-afk you can have a lot of noise in a system, as long as it is all referenced to one ground in time, the system itself cannot see it,, which brings up balanced i/o, which i don't feel like going into atm
14:02 katsmeow-afk notice i said "in time", if the route to the star point is too long, and the various noises get out of phase, or you make ground loop noise, again with balanced , or floating, or optocoupled, signal i/o between systems
14:07 katsmeow-afk the chief cause of voltage noise is resistance and current, if the ground is not zero ohms, then any current thru it will make a voltage drop
14:10 katsmeow-afk pcb ground traces even 1/2 inch wide can have a surprising amount of voltage drop if passing enough current, so if you reference a signal at *both* ends of that trace, your signal will be noisy,,,, so pick one end to be a reference (generally that point will be the star gnd point, as Tom said)
14:12 katsmeow-afk if the gnd trace is wide enough, generally the metal case or a entire layer of a multilayer pcb, the so called "ground plane", the entire sheet of gnd *may* be quiet enough so you don't need to run separate traces back to one physical "point"
14:12 katsmeow-afk ymmv
14:13 tsmeow-afk is fighting wget over what an "url
14:15 katsmeow-afk some wget, maybe all, won't -r over valid *.aspx urls, even tho it will get the first one,, the cure (i guess, unless someone else has an idea?) is to then "copy *.aspx temp.txt" and "wget -r....-F -i"temp.txt"" until nothing comes back
14:17 katsmeow-afk usually i write a script to manage this stuff, but not after midnite
14:43 katsmeow-afk fwiw, on a 100mhz oscope i have seen over a volt of noise on a gnd trace only an inch long, but the reason the circuit worked is the noise was in-phase on the pwr and signal lines too
14:50 katsmeow-afk RUE : what that lucidscience guy does with all those bike parts now : http://www.atomiczombie.com/
14:53 tsmeow-afk won't be impressed till she sees video of him hanging upside down in a parachute harness while pedalling a
14:54 katsmeow-afk everything else has been done already
15:09 e_house sees his
15:10 tsmeow-afk sees live pl
15:10 pigpenguin oooh i love atomiczombies stuff
15:10 rue_house there is someone up here somewhere making custom stuff like that
15:10 rue_house ben making a few of them, close to where I work
15:11 rue_house seems to come up with one every few months, I have to make an effort to find them
15:14 pigpenguin a guy at my school welded himself a tandem bike and the school newspaper freaked out and labled him a mechanical genius
15:14 rue_house hehe
15:20 e_house thinks about emergen
15:25 e_house thinks about putting away the we
15:25 e_house thinks about building a m
15:26 e_house thinks he should do less thinking and more d
15:26 rue_house kat, could you sketch me a 2finger+thumb mecha hand?
15:27 katsmeow-afk no, i am not a good sketch artist
15:28 katsmeow-afk i will suggest that 3 grip fingers is not enough to assure a stable grip
15:28 rue_house your sketch may not be prety, but it will be enineeringly correct
15:28 katsmeow-afk rue : http://nodemaker.posterous.com/the-problem-with-ideas
15:28 rue_house I'm fine with just 2 fingers+thumb
15:30 katsmeow-afk why do you need a drawing? just built it
15:31 rue_house stell is a lot of work to 'play around' in
15:31 rue_house steel
15:31 katsmeow-afk http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/mar/17/julian-assange-australian-senate-bid
15:32 tsmeow-afk photoshops http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2011/12/15/1323988239308/Facebook-002.jpg to remove the middle and right finger, and hands it to
15:32 rue_house assange is an asshole, he'd be a great polititian
15:33 rue_house having only 2 fingers means you just cant do 2 things at once with your hands
15:33 rue_house 2 or more
15:35 katsmeow-afk you have a thumb-one-finger gripper, just add one more finger to it
15:35 katsmeow-afk or fork the finger or thumb
15:38 rue_house how should I do the knuckle hinges?
15:39 katsmeow-afk large chain links, or really fancy lathe work with real ball bearings
15:40 katsmeow-afk didn't somone in here 2 or 5 yrs ago do a set of really nice cad fingers with servos in them?
15:40 tsmeow-afk thinks we are reinventing the wheel for the 1000'th
15:43 katsmeow-afk iirc, he made, or had made, the fingers too, milling machine
15:43 katsmeow-afk Tom could make them
15:44 katsmeow-afk i have a design i'd like to make, high end, good grip, ball bearings, etc
15:44 katsmeow-afk bbl, things need doing in real life :-((
15:55 Tom_itx could do what?
16:11 katsmeow-afk Tom could make them
18:06 zhanx http://tinyfabland.blogspot.com/2012/03/new-used-controller.html
18:59 rue_house zhanx, wanna draw me up a 2 figer + thumb mecha hand?
18:59 rue_house not sure if it should be exo or intra skelaton
19:00 zhanx tomorrow yes, the girl is telling me to get ready she wants to go out tonight
19:00 zhanx she let me hack the controller and is now saying i have to take her out dancing
19:00 rue_house cmon now man, get your priorities sorted out here
19:00 zhanx :D
19:00 rue_house oh
19:00 rue_house hmm
19:01 rue_house I think intraskelaton
19:01 rue_house intra?
19:01 rue_house kat?
19:01 zhanx been thinking on a hand anyways intraskelatol
19:01 rue_house almost all hte ones I'v seen are exoskelaton tho
19:04 rue_house well I think I got a path cleared for moving the greenhouse next weekend
19:04 rue_house tommorow I need to make some wheel dollies
19:04 Tom_itx what ever came of your pipe bender project?
19:05 rue_house casting material problem
19:05 rue_house the oil sand I made got drowned in water
19:06 rue_house and I dont currently have a big enough mold retainer to cast it in
19:06 rue_house I need to happen upon about 20L of casting sand
19:07 rue_house when thats solved I need to make between 2 and 3 more roller blanks
19:08 Tom_itx how many do you have?
19:08 rue_house less than 2
19:43 katsmeow-afk mouw
19:43 katsmeow you need casting sand only where you're pouring, you can fill in the places yu aren't pouring with bricks
19:44 katsmeow or broken concrete
19:44 katsmeow or play sand
19:45 katsmeow what happens if you pour using a paper mache mix, but with beach-play-mortar sand instead of "pouring sand" ?
19:49 katsmeow didn't humans useto pour using a very weak mortar mix anyhow?
19:50 katsmeow it held together, didn't burn, and easily fell loose from the metal when pulled up, iirc
19:51 katsmeow you smear the lost-form with the weak mortar, set it on any ole sand bed, then buried iit in more any ole sand, then poured when the mortar was set
19:51 katsmeow or maybe *you* didn't, but i am really sure someone did
19:53 tsmeow wants lots of info on how zhanx did
20:05 katsmeow http://cyberneticzoo.com/wp-content/uploads/Ambler-b-w-p6-x640.jpg
20:11 zhanx did what? i just took a shower is all
20:16 katsmeow the installaton of usb to an older game device
20:17 katsmeow and how the new computer regognised what it was over the usb port
20:17 zhanx oh
20:17 katsmeow walking http://cyberneticzoo.com/wp-content/uploads/manip_.jpg
20:19 zhanx i used a a atmel 8u2 (on the arduino) which is over kill but what i had laying around programed it via the LUFA code as a joystick, used the atmel 328p to send sensor info to the 8u2
20:19 tsmeow nods cluele
20:19 KongfuPanda http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26776513/423153_10150561484816612_647111611_9188578_890752696_n.jpg
20:19 KongfuPanda zhanx, what are you inventing?
20:20 zhanx KongfuPanda: i did a retro controller to usb hack is all
20:20 KongfuPanda what's a retro controller?
20:20 zhanx let me link you
20:20 zhanx http://tinyfabland.blogspot.com/2012/03/new-used-controller.html
20:21 KongfuPanda nice :D cheap usb wheel
20:21 zhanx yep
20:22 zhanx over kill on the uC but works
20:22 KongfuPanda cool cool
20:22 KongfuPanda I'm off to bed now, good night
20:35 katsmeow here ya go rue, 2 fingers and a thumb : http://cyberneticzoo.com/wp-content/uploads/NAT-exo-p1-Adamski-1971-x640.jpg
20:40 katsmeow depressing as hell : http://cyberneticzoo.com/wp-content/uploads/PE-Mar62-Emily-P1-x640.jpg <<== note the date
20:41 katsmeow 50 years ago this month, and what are hobbyists still doing?
20:55 Tom_itx hell that even looks like one of rue's current bots
20:56 Tom_itx and in fact that may even look like a younger rue in the pic :)
20:56 katsmeow heh
21:27 rue_house interesting idea kat
21:28 katsmeow which one?
21:28 rue_house http://cyberneticzoo.com/wp-content/uploads/NAT-exo-p1-Adamski-1971-x640.jpg build youself one of thosekat
21:28 rue_house mortar
21:28 katsmeow ah
21:28 rue_house today we cleared a path for the greenhouse
21:29 rue_house need to make some wheel dollies tommorow
21:29 katsmeow using robots?
21:29 rue_house no
21:29 Tom_itx rue_house is gonna run outta time building all the bots for all his tasks
21:30 rue_house katsmeow, seems I got you looking at old old robot tech
21:30 katsmeow just looking as what worked, what failed, and what wasted people's time
21:31 Tom_itx this isn't?
21:32 katsmeow i am multiplexing at the keybd Tom
21:32 Tom_itx me too
21:32 Tom_itx i had a bowl of ice cream
21:32 katsmeow arg, it's 9:23pm, i didn't eat dinner yet
21:32 delinquentme I LOVE ICECREAM!!!!!!!
21:32 linquentme quiets
21:32 delinquentme sorry
21:32 Tom_itx had a fair nap too
21:33 delinquentme i got a little excited
21:33 Tom_itx it wasn't the good stuff
21:35 Tom_itx that stuff at Leopolds in Savannah is pretty damn good stuff though
21:35 katsmeow heck of a trip just for ice cream
21:36 Tom_itx it was better than the rest of the trip
21:36 Tom_itx except seeing where Forest Gump was filmed
21:36 Tom_itx the relatives can kiss my ass
21:37 katsmeow Forest Gumps relatives can kiss my ass too
21:38 delinquentme Tom_itx, coldstone
21:38 Tom_itx it *was* interesting
21:38 delinquentme because real peanutbutter
21:38 delinquentme chonk
21:38 delinquentme derrishnesh
21:38 Tom_itx that and the fake fort they have there
21:38 delinquentme did i pronounce that correctly ?? de-rish-ish-ness
21:38 delinquentme yeah
21:38 katsmeow never heard of it
21:40 Tom_itx i did wave at kat on the way down but she ignored me
21:40 katsmeow i was prolly multiplexing in another direction, i appologise
21:41 Tom_itx accepted but not needed
21:42 katsmeow vhs tape retriever : http://www1.eere.energy.gov/solar/sunshot/images/20120223_hp.jpg
22:12 katsmeow rue!! DIMENSIONS !!! : http://www.mcmaster.com/#angle-brackets/
22:14 katsmeow rue likes dimensions
22:15 Tom_itx he does?
22:15 katsmeow yeas, specially for nuts, bolts, bits, tubing, pipe
22:17 katsmeow finaly, assembly bits for cheap steel strut channel, instead of that overpricey aluminum shirt : http://www.mcmaster.com/#strut-channel-accessories/
22:17 katsmeow course, some of use use otehr steel and just weld the stuff
22:19 katsmeow what NREL and EERE wanna do for solar power 38 FREAKING YEARS FROM NOW : http://www1.eere.energy.gov/solar/pdfs/47927_chapter3.pdf
22:20 katsmeow we NEED solar power 38 years *__AGO__* !!!!
22:23 Tom_itx ok how do i change permissions so i can access a usb device without the 'sudo' stuff?
22:23 Tom_itx specifically my logic analizer
22:24 tsmeow doesn't do
22:24 Tom_itx neither do i, much
22:43 Tom_itx well crap
22:43 Tom_itx now how do i move it to the desktop with the proper icon
22:45 tsmeow points to
22:46 Tom_itx i've done it before but i forget how
22:46 Tom_itx i can get it but not just exactly as i want it
23:06 poto Does anyone here have experience in using external C++ libraries on an FRC robot?
23:07 katsmeow ouch, now my head hurts
23:07 rue_shop me and a buddy sketched out the hand of the mecha
23:07 rue_shop its workable, but definitly strikes a person as big
23:08 Tom_itx rue_shop
23:08 Tom_itx how do i make an executable icon on the ubuntu desktop?
23:08 katsmeow i was aiming more for fitting a normal human average glove over the hand
23:09 rue_shop Tom_itx, under linux, program icons are not part of the application
23:09 rue_shop they are a resource linked by a config file
23:10 rue_shop thats only read by the app using them
23:10 Tom_itx yeah, i've done it before but i can't seem to get it this time
23:10 rue_shop so what app draws the desktop icons?
23:10 Tom_itx it's part of the executable
23:10 rue_shop no
23:10 Tom_itx i got it working on eclipse but can't get it for this one
23:10 Tom_itx i forgot how we did it
23:11 rue_shop what program is drawing the icon, not eclipse, somethnig like ...
23:11 Tom_itx i can't find where the icon is stored on the executable
23:11 rue_shop eclipse is the web browser right?
23:11 Tom_itx no
23:11 rue_shop the icon is totally seperate from the program
23:11 Tom_itx forget about eclipse, it was an example
23:11 rue_shop the icons are stored in a folder somewhere
23:11 Tom_itx i know but i can't find it
23:12 rue_shop and somewhere there is a file that says what icons to use for what apps
23:12 rue_shop ps -uax
23:12 rue_shop find the name of the program drawing the icons
23:12 rue_shop them find the manual page for it
23:13 rue_shop twice the size adds
23:13 rue_shop up
23:14 rue_shop I could easily fit 1/2" rebar in the fingers
23:14 delinquentme is "encoder tape" the right term?
23:14 katsmeow i think the only good reason to scale the paws up is to put the device doing the movement right into the finger joints, instead of a cable arrangement back to actuators in the forearm
23:14 rue_shop 5/8" even
23:14 rue_shop I cant fit the actuators in this
23:15 rue_shop delinquentme, I dont know the proper name, I thought dk called them encoder strips
23:15 katsmeow because really, a human-hand-sized device is made that can pick up 1000lb steeks of plate steel
23:15 katsmeow sheets
23:15 rue_shop hmm, I could use 1" rebar and have space to spare
23:16 katsmeow don't mill rebar to make fingers, rebar is often made from unqualified cheapest scrap steel
23:16 rue_shop mill? no
23:16 katsmeow then how will you shape it?
23:16 rue_shop want gonna make sandwhich hinges
23:16 rue_shop was gonna
23:16 katsmeow damn rue, how big is this paw?
23:16 delinquentme im making this dude @ dk work for his paycheck
23:16 rue_shop each finger is..
23:17 rue_shop about 8"
23:17 katsmeow umm, why?
23:17 rue_shop its scaled off me
23:17 rue_shop if I were 12' high
23:17 katsmeow will strength be equally scaled?
23:18 rue_shop I hope for atleast 2x
23:18 rue_shop 4x would be nice, but I'm not gonna aim that high
23:18 rue_shop I'm using 4x for the power factor
23:19 rue_shop I think I used about 8x for the power factor and worked out I need a 4HP power source
23:20 katsmeow you are 1 people-power, and you are going to scale up to 4 horse-power? if you get good efficiency in the transforms tween energy forms, that's a lot of power
23:21 katsmeow oh, this is for the mecha.... 4hp is a good start at the *low* end then
23:21 rue_shop well I thought I should be carefull to make sure ther was enough
23:21 rue_shop its only a 12' mecha
23:21 katsmeow yeas, but the weight isn't going to scale the same as size
23:22 rue_shop the engine almost only runs 2 compressors
23:22 rue_shop yea
23:23 Tom_itx weight factor should equal the rest too
23:23 Tom_itx then maybe the power factor would fit better
23:24 m_itx gives rue_shop some carbon fiber to play
23:24 katsmeow afaik, no mechanical system beats the power-to-weight of a biological system tho, even tho biology is somewhat less efficient
23:24 e_shop points to the large pile of 2" steel gas
23:28 thylane Anyone have any good links to evolution/learning of quadruped gaits --- like complex robuts ones seen in boston dynamics?
23:28 rue_shop not me
23:29 katsmeow only a couple people he got past 50 yr olt line followers :-((
23:29 e_shop stares at the outline of the hand of a 12' m
23:30 katsmeow boston dynamics isn't that complicated, due partly to the constant bouncing it does to offset stiction
23:34 delinquentme thylane, sounds like an undertaking :D
23:34 rue_shop 9 axies total fingers and thumb
23:34 delinquentme give em gyros?
23:35 katsmeow gyros, yummy
23:36 rue_shop 7.6" dia forearm to fit them all in
23:36 rue_shop 21.8" long
23:36 rue_shop thats workable, but I dont think I'm gonna fit valves in there
23:37 katsmeow nope, not descrete ones, you haveto think of a common manifold
23:37 rue_shop I'll bring it back to the chest
23:37 katsmeow you can't
23:37 rue_shop why not
23:37 rue_shop the chest has lots of room for valves
23:37 katsmeow too much friction and breakage of the tubing going thru the shoulder
23:37 rue_shop I dont agree
23:38 katsmeow you have a mass of tubing
23:38 rue_shop pipes = 2 * axies
23:38 katsmeow for the *hand* alone, yeas
23:38 rue_shop the pipes aren't that big
23:38 katsmeow plus the wrist, the elbow
23:39 rue_shop I might be able to put a valve or two in the upper arm
23:39 katsmeow 9 axis for the hand? 18 pipes, + 6 for wrist, 2 for elbow, 26 piped
23:39 rue_shop 3/8" pipes max
23:40 rue_shop possibly 1/4"
23:40 katsmeow 26 1/4 inch pipes,, make up such a bundle, and try to bend it
23:41 katsmeow i think that's a 3 inch bundle
23:41 katsmeow 2.5 maybe
23:42 katsmeow and, it's going to be sliding past stuff, abraiding it
23:42 rue_shop 7" thick arm at the shoulder
23:43 katsmeow you want 3 inches of the shoulder to be pipes? plus the hp to bend it, twist it?
23:43 katsmeow and the stress relief bends in the tubing hasto go somewhere
23:43 rue_shop I think it woul be minor force compared to just moving the arm
23:43 katsmeow ok
23:43 zhanx home
23:43 rue_shop I can do the pipes not bundled
23:44 katsmeow are all the valves you got the same?
23:44 rue_shop hsh
23:44 rue_shop hah
23:44 rue_shop no
23:45 katsmeow can you unscrew / drill out rivets, and mate their bottoms all onto a common manifold?
23:45 rue_shop no
23:45 rue_shop the wshing machine ones are pretty one-peice
23:47 katsmeow what did they cost, each?
23:47 rue_shop free
23:47 katsmeow well, hard to beat that
23:47 rue_shop I need to find drawings of the actuation interconnects of the last two joints of the human finger
23:47 rue_shop hmmm
23:52 ace4016 tip: the actuator is typically contained in the previous segment
23:52 ace4016 although....then there would be no reason for the tip of the fingers to be all muscley
23:53 katsmeow is it muscley?
23:53 ace4016 it's fleshy
23:53 ace4016 and there are decent striations
23:53 ace4016 other than sensory, not sure what the tips do
23:54 katsmeow http://www.davidlnelson.md/images/anatomy_nail.jpg
23:54 katsmeow seems to be just big enough to support the nail, the bone itself, the skin, and the tendons
23:55 ace4016 heh, so it's just fleshy for the sensors then
23:55 katsmeow for some people, the fingertip is quite thin below the bone : http://www.bioelements.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/fingertip1.jpg
23:56 ace4016 that also explains why cutting open teh finger looks like hamburger meat fell out on my little brother's hands
23:56 katsmeow fatty globules?
23:57 katsmeow trying to remember, but i don't recall the times i sliced open a finger or thumb that it was fatty, course, i was slim back then,,, however the web tween thumb and finger was whitish inside
23:57 ace4016 most likely; i guess we need a bit of cushion and such for all the touch and temperature endings to work properly
23:58 ace4016 hehe, you saw your own tendon...gross
23:58 zhanx ok left my glasses at the restaurant, thank god they were still there
