00:25 theBear hehe, too late now ;)
00:25 theBear at least he gets draws too
00:26 katsmeow-afk for $135 , he should get a new computer too
00:26 theBear hehe
00:27 katsmeow-afk a sheet of 3/4 plywood, a 3x4 portion of masonite, 4 2x4s, and some letter baskets would be tons cheaper, and bigger
00:28 katsmeow-afk if he wanted it only 4ft wide, he'd have as many shelves over it as under it from the same plywood sheet
00:31 katsmeow-afk just my opinion
00:31 theBear yeah yeah, i know how to make a table for nothing don't you worry... i even got a nice keyboard (musical) case in the next room that still has "table mk II" spray painted on one side <grin>
00:32 katsmeow-afk $25 for plywood, $10 for lumber, $10 for the masonite topper, $20 in wirebasket letter trays, you could make a heck of a big table, or a compact one with shelves to the ceiling
00:33 katsmeow-afk i made such a table in Fla, will prolly leave it there
00:33 katsmeow-afk $5 swivel chair is coming home with me tho
00:34 tsmeow-afk likes her swivel chairs on wheel, yeas
00:57 katsmeow-afk http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/technology/2012/03/auto-correct-blunder-causes-high-school-lockdown/
00:59 GuShH rue_house: I was welding a small plate to a light fixture, it's leaking water in and the CFLs are burning up. It's all rusted out at the top from lack of maintenance
01:00 katsmeow-afk it's a bad sign when your light fixtures are leaking water
01:00 theBear usually
01:13 tsmeow-afk wires up a 67kv line to the water faucet, so when turning on the water, it gets really bright from the arc to the drain
01:35 dandellion_yello hello, can somebody take a look at the manchester decoding exercise that I have here : http://giantpussy.dyndns.org/manchester.html I want to check my answers with yours, to see if I got them right. ps:don't mind the hostname, I guess I was in a bad mood when asked to pick a name for it...
01:43 katsmeow-afk praps a programming channel might work better
01:44 dandellion_yello people are bsing there so much at this time that I decided to seek for better medium
12:36 katsmeow-afk the weather here has already started : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&gl=us&tbm=nws&q=alabama+huntsville+tornado
12:40 katsmeow-afk per "global warming" , there aren't really more storms, they are just more energetic
12:42 Steffanx Global warming .. isn't that an invention from that weird guy from your country?
12:42 katsmeow-afk not my country, i only live here under their thumb
12:43 Steffanx Hmpf, you get my point
12:43 katsmeow-afk weather is a state machine, a heat engine, adding more heat simply makes it run harder
14:27 reesk hello
19:21 yus hello
19:42 moriarty hey
19:44 yus hello
19:44 yus can you help me please ?
19:44 yus i wan to build a robot
19:44 yus simpl robot
19:45 yus with my not laptop
19:45 yus whos take one way in black
20:56 katsmeow-afk Air Force Shelves $3B Worth of Brand New Drones
20:56 katsmeow-afk New Surveillance Drones, $176M Each, Can't Compete With 50-Year-Old U-2 Program, AF Gen. Says
20:57 katsmeow-afk more than a dozen high-tech surveillance drones, which together cost the U.S. government more than $3 billion, could soon be sitting in a storage facility gathering dust after top Air Force officials admitted this week the birds still are not as good as the half-century-old spy planes they were designed to replace.
20:57 katsmeow-afk Air Force Gen. Norton Schwartz appeared with Air Force Secretary Michael Donley before a Senate committee Tuesday where the two defended the service's decision to stop acquisition of the Global Hawk Block 30 drones and to shelve the 18 Block 30 unmanned drones the Air Force already has, claiming it will save the Pentagon $2.5 billion.
20:57 katsmeow-afk Other variations of the Global Hawk, including the Block 20 that specializes in communications technology and the Block 40 that sports a long-range radar system for advanced target detection, will continue to be used by the Air Force
20:59 w0lfsp1d3r damn...
21:01 katsmeow-afk twice even,,,, because i figure there's a few people in here who could have gotten the drone into the air for $176 *thousand*, not *million*
21:02 katsmeow-afk (pricey special top secret mil equip not included)
21:03 katsmeow-afk iirc, aren't those designed to change out instrument payloads in a few hours? then why not convert the unused Block 30 to the more useable configuration?
21:06 tsmeow-afk looks at weather on http://classic.wunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?ID=BMX&region=c4 and http://images.intellicast.com/WxImages/Radar/usa.gif
21:07 katsmeow-afk dinner!
21:09 w0lfsp1d3r heh, sell the drones to NASA
21:11 e_bed stret
21:11 rue_bed ok, hmm, whats for kids robotics tommorow
21:16 Tom_itx yeah, what the heck are we gonna do??
21:17 rue_bed there is a copier to take apart
21:17 Tom_itx oooo goodie!!
21:17 rue_bed I dont know who's showing up as usual
21:19 rue_bed working on programming waypoints into the robot arm
21:19 Tom_itx all your catastrophies fixed now?
21:19 rue_bed no, this weekend I have more personal ones
21:19 rue_bed stuff relating to grandmother passing
21:20 Tom_itx sorry to hear that
21:21 rue_bed I will live to see most of the people I know die, its prolly not gonna get easier
21:21 rue_bed how would you like me to remember you?
21:21 Tom_itx yeah, alot of my hs class aren't here now
21:23 rue_bed k
21:23 rue_bed I want a cookie...
21:23 Tom_itx i just had 3
21:23 Tom_itx home made
21:23 rue_bed showoff
21:23 m_itx gives rue_bed a handfull of peanut butter coo
21:26 GuShH rue_bed: tips?
http://gushh.net/tmp/weld.jpg I think I need more current and I gotta get the electrode closer, in essence I need to practice more on vertical welds.
21:26 GuShH seems a bit cold.
21:27 ShH hates smaw but he can't afford anything better at the mo
21:29 Tom_itx clean the rust off next time
21:29 Tom_itx or get sticks that can handle rust
21:29 GuShH Tom_itx: I did.
21:30 GuShH steel brush and angle grinder
21:30 Tom_itx for what it does, it may hold a while
21:30 GuShH it's just way too rusty.
21:30 Tom_itx i see
21:30 GuShH it's a lot harder with this type of surface
21:30 Tom_itx i've had a few turn out worse :)
21:31 Tom_itx but in all honesty, it's not stuck that good
21:31 GuShH I need an air compressor so I can sand-blast this kind of stuff
21:32 Tom_itx i wonder how that strap broke anyway, it's not under that much stress
21:32 GuShH there are about 8 of them, 7 were broken
21:32 GuShH And I also wonder how.
21:33 GuShH The trolley needs a paintjob and new wheels, also a new plate on the bottom but it's salvagable IMO. Just another weekend project :)
21:34 Tom_itx submerged arc.. submerged in what?
21:35 GuShH smaw is shielded metal arc welding
21:35 Tom_itx that's usually reserved for robotic welding isn't it?
21:35 Tom_itx oh stick?
21:35 GuShH yep
21:35 Tom_itx k
21:35 GuShH I should just say stick welding, or buzz-box :)
21:35 Tom_itx submerged is sand usually
21:35 GuShH but technically it's called smaw
21:35 Tom_itx i used to have an arc welder, now i have a wirefeed
21:36 GuShH the shield is just the flux on the rods.
21:36 GuShH I wish I had a MIG at least
21:36 Tom_itx right
21:36 GuShH But the gas is too expensive, it does last a fair bit of time though.
21:36 Tom_itx you can get wire with flux in it
21:36 GuShH the flux core stuff?
21:36 GuShH I'm not sure how good it compares, I never used it
21:37 GuShH Surely it must be an improvement over this.
21:37 GuShH Mind you stick welding is still used on the field, a lot.
21:38 Tom_itx easier to use
21:39 ShH hasn't seen any fcaw units around, just mig, tig and smaw with igbt alternati
21:42 Tom_itx http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/intel_atom/miller.jpg
21:52 GuShH Tom_itx: neat!
22:03 katsmeow-afk Tom, you gotta close up that gap at the bottom of the wall before weld splatter gets under there and sets a fire
22:03 katsmeow-afk wait, you're vertical welding on a hand truck? lay that thing down and do it horizontally!
22:04 katsmeow-afk what rod are you using?
22:08 katsmeow-afk GuShH, i was moving also, didn't work out, i am back where i started, $1000's poorer
22:08 katsmeow-afk bad back also
22:11 Tom_itx kat, i don't use it there. i store it there
22:11 katsmeow-afk k
22:12 Tom_itx back where you started??
22:12 katsmeow-afk alaforkingbama
22:12 Tom_itx omg really?
22:12 katsmeow-afk really
22:12 Tom_itx what happened to the trailer?
22:12 katsmeow-afk i guess it's still down there
22:12 Tom_itx is it yours?
22:13 katsmeow-afk so are both my utility trailers
22:13 Tom_itx you gonna go fetch them?
22:13 katsmeow-afk this is down there : DesignerThinking.com\images\bigboatbowmaking\DSCF1466.jpg and both hulls from this : DesignerThinking.com/images/TheLaunching/DSCF1103.jpg
22:13 katsmeow-afk and $1000 more stuff
22:13 katsmeow-afk yeas, got the truck unloaded today, a month after i twisted my back loading it
22:14 Tom_itx is that last one the small one from water heaters?
22:14 tsmeow-afk
22:14 Tom_itx it floats
22:14 katsmeow-afk i will be unable to retrieve the 3 hulls
22:15 Tom_itx mmm
22:24 katsmeow-afk maybe i can cut the bows off the small ones, but they'd only be momentos, not working bows again
22:25 GuShH katsmeow-afk: I was doing it vertically for practice sake.
22:25 GuShH Because I need to do some welds on the front gate, and theres no way of getting that laid out horizontally :p
22:26 katsmeow-afk the gate was prolly built horizontally in the first place
22:27 GuShH yes, but I'm not removing it from the rails just to weld a small piece back on, specially given how heavy the whole thing is.
22:27 GuShH it's automated, so it's on rails and guides.
22:28 tsmeow-afk
22:28 katsmeow-afk praps a pipe clamp, or a hanger from the electrical dept, will be easier
22:28 katsmeow-afk by "pipe clamp" i do not mean "hose clamp"
22:29 GuShH I need to add some sheet metal to the sides, but that's just a tack welding job
22:30 GuShH the moving truck pretty much took care of breaking a few pieces off the gate, I was nearly ready to fight the bastards.
22:31 tsmeow-afk nods s
22:34 katsmeow-afk assorted types of clamps and things for fastening various metals togther : http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/catalog/servlet/Navigation?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&N=5yc1vZ1xg1Zbm55&cm-sp=d27-_-Electrical_Boxes_Conduit_Fittings-_-Subcat-_-essentials_accessories-_-struts-_-shop_now
22:39 GuShH katsmeow-afk: that stuff is hard to find around town
22:42 katsmeow-afk ebay?
22:44 GuShH neh
22:55 katsmeow-afk this calm between the two rivers of weather isn't going to last much longer : http://classic.wunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?ID=BMX&region=c4
22:55 katsmeow-afk they are saying no more tornadoes, only large hail
22:58 katsmeow-afk whoops, bandwidth just tanked
23:08 katsmeow-afk i am gonna get pounded my weather the next 4 or 5 hours
23:08 tsmeow-afk lites the kerosene l
23:39 katsmeow-afk intellicast lost their bandwidth too, they are 45 minutes behind on radar updates
23:44 katsmeow-afk ...
