00:15 katsmeow-afk i feel like a fool changing addressed back to here from Fla only a month after changing them to Fla
00:16 katsmeow-afk which firebox?
00:17 katsmeow-afk the firebox for this places i stopped so i could move
00:17 katsmeow-afk the one for one room heating, i just figured out what to use as a firebox last nite, dug out a burner/mixer for propane today
00:19 katsmeow-afk is there any sound on that url?
00:19 katsmeow-afk how are they making the metal powder stick together?
00:20 katsmeow-afk ummmmmmm..................
00:21 katsmeow-afk wait, did they just do wax printing and then a regular metal pour?
00:22 tsmeow-afk looks somewhat let
00:25 rue_house no they used stainless steel beads that they sweat bronze into
00:27 katsmeow-afk how did they not mess up the beads when they went over them with sand?
00:27 rue_house not 100% sure
00:28 katsmeow-afk did you see the economical use of wood in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfRovJ1KcCg&feature=related ?
00:28 rue_house :)
00:29 katsmeow-afk 8" pine log was the fuel and the stove, he made ramen on it
00:30 katsmeow-afk that's a good video, no need for a roaring fire or a pricey cook stove
00:35 rue_house that pot is a lot smaller than it looks
00:40 katsmeow-afk still, it's a bowl of hot soup-stuff
00:40 rue_house thats cool
00:44 katsmeow-afk <abc news> "They're watering down the term of what a true hero is these days," John Burri told ABC News. "I thought it was offensive to every family's fallen solider
00:44 katsmeow-afk don't let your family solider fall down

00:57 katsmeow-afk "radial engine beltring" ? what's that?
00:58 katsmeow-afk that tank is ww1 or before, it should be in a museum
00:58 rue_house its see-thru!
00:59 katsmeow-afk if i could only fit it into the truck ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRJ5n6Ukky8&feature=related

01:01 rue_house oh yea, 1 hatch is designed weaker to relief crankcase explosions
01:01 rue_house the things I forgot I knew
01:03 katsmeow-afk the FM diesels in subs in ww2 were started by air too
01:05 rue_house http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEbDlNeMtLM&feature=related <-- LETS GO FOR A LAND SPEED RECORD! UNBLOCK MY WHEELS!!!!
01:05 katsmeow-afk Running M.A.N. WW1 diesel engine at 375 RPM producing 430 HP. <<== how much torque is that, rue?
01:05 rue_house my converter wont do that without a lot of help from me
01:07 katsmeow-afk no sound here, but that has go to be loud
01:08 katsmeow-afk those are prolly small blades for it, the 20ft dia blades on the B29 weighed actual tons
01:09 rue_house http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHGAHVdfSvE&feature=related "yes, thats the furnace, I'll take that one"
01:11 katsmeow-afk wow, it that actually has a turbine in it, it's what was developed at the end of ww2
01:11 katsmeow-afk and, it should be pushing itself across his yard
01:12 katsmeow-afk the turbine used in the brit version of that had a cast iron blade, each blade was one piece
01:12 katsmeow-afk and had to be loosely mounted, so when it got white hot and expanded, it wouldn't crack
01:13 rue_house isn't it missing a nozel?
01:16 rue_bed you know lots of cool stuff kat
01:17 katsmeow-afk thanks to Tiggr
01:23 tsmeow-afk should goto

09:45 Pip rue_house, is that robotics?
10:44 Aggrav8d Pip - if you consider a brain to be a computer, then yes.
15:56 Aggrav8d http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAX8RimPmVk
15:57 Aggrav8d Got halftones working. Ideally I'd have a java app breakdown a photo and tell the drawbot what to do.
15:57 Aggrav8d Next step tho is to write out all the instructions and put it in a box.

17:21 katsmeow-afk i didn't check sizes, cause you can always move pcb pads around..........
17:22 katsmeow-afk need to re-find it, i think i found 2000 of them for $19 or something else silly
17:22 Tom_itx no i just ordered pcbs
17:22 Tom_itx it needs to fit that footprint
17:24 katsmeow-afk qty 700 for $40 + $10 s&h
17:25 katsmeow-afk 7 cents each, good price?
17:26 Tom_itx possibly

17:27 katsmeow-afk you can verify sizes, i cannot see if it fits your pcb
17:27 Tom_itx no, these are tiny
17:27 Tom_itx and side actuated
17:28 katsmeow-afk those come with long leads, stand them on edge, put a drop of hotglue behind them, saves you 40 cents per switch

19:50 katsmeow-afk since it need not be springy, i doubt it's the bronze
19:51 katsmeow-afk that SCHXXXXXXXX number seems to be their number, and not an oem number
19:52 Tom_itx i'll try em once i guess
19:54 katsmeow-afk they sell 10pcs lots too

21:41 rue_house well
21:41 rue_house you know that fuel pump?
21:41 katsmeow-afk not intimately
21:41 Tom_itx i know one like it
21:41 rue_house it seemes to have prettymuch stopped right infront of the shop I was considering taking the truck to, to get it changed
21:41 rue_house so I had to walk back from town
21:42 Tom_itx :)
21:42 Tom_itx easy decision then huh
21:42 rue_house yep
21:42 katsmeow-afk i am guessing it was all uphill from there
21:42 rue_house I put my phone number on the dash
21:43 rue_house I had to finish dropping off the AC adapter I went in to drop off
21:43 rue_house they pumped the septic tank today
21:43 rue_house the field is not taking ANYthing
21:43 Tom_itx you're just full of service bills today
21:43 rue_house so I have 3 days maybe
21:43 Tom_itx so you need a shovel to start diggin more laterals
21:44 tsmeow-afk adds to rue's note: do this bit of shopping before bringing the truck back to me: tuna, perch, whitefish, tartar s
21:44 rue_house I keep money on the ready for this kinda thing
21:44 katsmeow-afk you should keep money in robots to do the work so you don't need to pay the humans
21:44 rue_house they are gonna flush the field for me, I'm gonna ask them to get a length on it
21:45 Tom_itx have em map it too while they're looking
21:45 katsmeow-afk flush it? but it won't take any more
21:45 katsmeow-afk rinse it?
21:45 katsmeow-afk put a rootkit on it too
21:46 rue_house no roots under the house
21:46 Tom_itx plenty of rats
21:46 katsmeow-afk put a ratkit on it
21:47 rue_house :)
21:47 rue_house I think if they got into it the water would get out
21:48 rue_house new septic system: $20000
21:48 katsmeow-afk ah, there ya go, have some oil company come in and frack it
21:48 rue_house hahaha

21:59 rue_house nono
21:59 rue_house you build a machine to help you!
21:59 rue_house ok they just called, their gonna flush the system tommorow, and get me a length of the field
22:00 rue_house then I can go try to dig up the ends
22:00 rue_house he says sand fields clogg up pretty quick
22:00 Tom_itx yeah, the pipe needs a gravel bed under it
22:00 rue_house my ears are still cold from the walk back from town
22:01 katsmeow-afk put a lil tuna oil on them and call the cats
22:02 rue_house chew chew
22:03 katsmeow-afk Sharpie(tm) makes a silver finepoint now, it's great for writing on black stuff, like Dell monitors, like "DEAD" or "backlight dims & dies"

22:04 rue_house whiteout pen...
22:04 katsmeow-afk whiteout is chalky
22:04 rue_house !assist circuits/olpcb.png
22:04 tobbor Possibly http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/circuits/olpcb.png
22:04 rue_house the right is a little sparse
22:04 rue_house but I cant see how to get more in there
22:05 katsmeow-afk i can, but you didn't do like i said to do
22:05 rue_house ?
22:05 rue_house what did I miss?
22:06 rue_house 12 of the parts are SMT
22:06 katsmeow-afk move all those 8-pin heades to the bottom, push the relay over to the left over the headers, then lay the 4-pin molex down horizontally
22:06 rue_house or so
22:06 katsmeow-afk keep the diode with the relay
22:07 rue_house there is a LOT of wiring between the 8 pin headers thats not there yet
22:07 rue_house but ok
22:07 katsmeow-afk i didn't see the wiring that's not there yet, sorry
22:07 rue_house that should trim off about .3"
22:07 rue_house which is good
22:08 katsmeow-afk are those 3 big things resistors?
22:08 katsmeow-afk they are 2 or 3 watt? why so big?
22:09 rue_house 0.1R, they just happen to be large
22:09 katsmeow-afk anyhow, stand them on end, so the top becomes a handy test point to clip onto
22:09 rue_house .1? maybe .01R
22:09 rue_house its ok, they are going on the back
22:09 katsmeow-afk oh
22:09 rue_house :)
22:09 rue_house there are a lot of things not apparent there
22:09 rue_house I'm gonna get the 8 pins wired up so I can try that rotation
22:11 katsmeow-afk for what it's worth, i have found running traces tween to-92 pads to be iffy, but it works if the trace is on top where you can make the pads be so small and almost not there
22:11 rue_house those to-92 are the wrong way too, I use ones with pins all in a stright line
22:12 rue_house but eagle dosn't ahve my part in there
22:12 rue_house I'm just playing in eagle, I dont use it to actually make the pcb
22:12 katsmeow-afk you seem to have two diodes under a cap too
22:12 rue_house smt
22:12 katsmeow-afk bless you
22:12 rue_house the cap is smt
22:13 katsmeow-afk you still cannot make two parts occupy the same space
22:13 rue_house all the thruhole parts double as jumpers
22:13 rue_house the smt is on the back :)
22:13 katsmeow-afk oh
22:13 tsmeow-afk is gonna shut up now, as too much is not apparent on
22:13 rue_house no, its ok none of this is apparent
22:14 rue_house pls keep going
22:14 rue_house if you find something I didn't think of I want to know it
22:16 katsmeow-afk see the vertical gnd trace on the right of the 3 big resistors? continue it str8 up to the gnd running around the edge of the pcb
22:16 katsmeow-afk do you have 3 pwr voltages on this pcb?
22:16 e_house
22:16 rue_house yes, +24 -24 and +5
22:17 katsmeow-afk ah
22:17 rue_house so I have to have reguators for the TL074
22:17 rue_house cause its output is 0-5, so I'm using a 7812 and a 7905
22:17 katsmeow-afk good deal
22:18 rue_house I'm a bit worried about the 7905
22:18 katsmeow-afk the V+ limit on those is +30v, so clamp spikes
22:18 katsmeow-afk why?
22:18 rue_house wondering if I should throw in a series resistor
22:18 rue_house 30V
22:18 rue_house hmm
22:18 katsmeow-afk TL074 pulls almost no power, why be concerned?
22:18 rue_house well, its li-ion, if I go above 24 something gonna go critical
22:18 rue_house what its driving
22:19 rue_house each output drives a ADC input and the diodes to the lm393 which is used as an overcurrent detect that triggers the 555 to trip the relay
22:19 rue_house pots are high and low current trip points
22:19 katsmeow-afk shorting all the outputs of the TL084 to gnd and driving them high will make the 7905 dissipate 2watts
22:20 katsmeow-afk err, shorting them to high, rather
22:20 rue_house yea, so that would blow it off its legs
22:20 rue_house 'what did these 3 pins go to?'
22:20 katsmeow-afk you using 7905, 79L05, or 79M05?
22:20 katsmeow-afk or 7905K ?
22:21 rue_house L
22:21 katsmeow-afk oo, L is 100ma limit and under a wattt
22:21 rue_house :)
22:21 rue_house unloaded, the tl074 is pulling 6.4mA
22:22 katsmeow-afk iirc, it's current limit on outputs is 24ma
22:22 katsmeow-afk if you don't have problems driving stuff, it should be ok
22:22 rue_house I presume like its big cousin its thermally limited?
22:22 katsmeow-afk but if you have problems, you'll quickly have more problems
22:22 katsmeow-afk afaik, it is thermally limited
22:23 rue_house hehehe
22:23 katsmeow-afk BUT, you loose a supply on the opamp in a double-supply situation, your inputs could suddenly become vcc or vee voltage
22:23 rue_house think I should mark in a series resistor?
22:24 rue_house if the outputs go 2.5V-+1.25V it trips the overload
22:24 katsmeow-afk either a series resistor to throw away 15volts, or a pnp transistor with emitter set to -8v
22:24 rue_house 2.5V = 0A 0V = 2A 5V = -2A
22:25 rue_house current limit per leg is 1A
22:25 katsmeow-afk you didn't understand what i said
22:25 e_house reads a
22:25 rue_house oh inputs
22:26 katsmeow-afk if , for instance then 7905 opens due to thermal protection, what will the voltages be on all the pins, and where is the current flowing? ,,, i think you'll find the inputs are sinking/sourcing too much current
22:26 rue_house one side of the inputs is on a voltage divider, the other is tried to a 0.01R resistor to ground
22:26 rue_house hmm
22:27 katsmeow-afk yeas, if the 7905 opens, the lowest voltage on the cip will be the inputs, as the +12 is still there
22:27 rue_house I was pondering bending them down and epoxying them to the pcb, as a crude heat sink
22:28 katsmeow-afk so put a germanium or shottcky diode to gnd so if the 7905 opens, Vee will not go much above gnd
22:28 e_house
22:28 katsmeow-afk and a diode so if the 7812 opens, Vcc won't go below gnd
22:28 rue_house I can do that with an smt diode too
22:28 katsmeow-afk single supply situations don't have these problems
22:29 katsmeow-afk i had a casstte player with a artificial gnd, touch the wrong thing and the whole psu oscillated
22:30 rue_house I'm doing it so that, for the motors, I only need to use 2 transistors
22:30 rue_house with 18 motors, its worth the trouble
22:30 tsmeow-afk
22:30 katsmeow-afk yeas
22:31 rue_house I'm pretty happy with things so far, it has potentially nasty flaws, but I think I'll be ok
22:31 rue_house the 6 cell li-ion packs have no onboard fuses, and use a card edge connector
22:32 rue_house :)
22:32 katsmeow-afk you can put inline fuses, yanno
22:32 rue_house did you see the battery packs?
22:33 rue_house !assist robots/buddy_III
22:33 katsmeow-afk those were not apparent either

23:52 rue_house as who I wonder
23:52 rue_house well I'll pack this pcb tommorow
23:53 rue_house !assist circuits/olpcb.png
23:53 tobbor Possibly http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/circuits/olpcb.png
23:53 rue_house I seperated the signal and power ground paths to different traces :)
23:54 katsmeow-afk good
23:54 rue_house the outter ring is, in reality like 1/4" wide
23:54 katsmeow-afk but you turned the headers sideways too, so no space savings
23:54 rue_house I'll pack the 3 connectors right more, then move the relay over and turn the connector
23:54 rue_house had to to route the damn things
23:55 rue_house on my plotter, I need a full 0.1" clearance around pads
23:55 katsmeow-afk well, my comments on how to mange with them horizontal do not apply when they are vertical
23:55 rue_house no I think it'll still help
23:55 rue_house if I can get the realay all the way left, then when the connector is turned the top will come down more
23:56 rue_house I should be able to squeeze it all .3" narrower
23:58 rue_house as is, its only about a 2x2" board
