00:00 XSerpentX dk as in netherlands?
00:00 rue_mohr digikey
00:01 XSerpentX denmarks
00:01 XSerpentX oh
00:01 XSerpentX what brand
00:01 XSerpentX or doesn't matter
00:01 rue_mohr panasonic
00:01 rue_mohr http://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data%20Sheets/Panasonic%20Batteries%20PDFS/Panasonic%20Industrial%20AA%20LR6XWA.pdf
00:01 XSerpentX u find a difference between battery brands?
00:01 rue_mohr looking for Ah
00:01 XSerpentX yeah
00:02 rue_mohr odd, they dont give 20hr Ah rating
00:04 XSerpentX hmm
00:04 rue_mohr oh I think
00:05 XSerpentX so any suggestions for my power solution?
00:05 rue_mohr 20hr is 150mA so I guess they are 150mAh
00:05 rue_mohr for 40c
00:05 XSerpentX I have 3 components (2 motor controllers and a RF reciever) that need 5v
00:05 XSerpentX I have a old school servo and 2 newer servos that need 5v
00:05 rue_mohr personally I'd make bucking regulators for both voltages
00:06 XSerpentX i have a large main drive dc motor that needs 12v
00:06 rue_mohr here, they cutoff at .8V/cell
00:06 XSerpentX and my netduino needs 9-12v
00:06 rue_mohr you said 12V
00:06 rue_mohr 12V/0.8V
00:06 theBear BING BING BING !!! 12V is our lucky word for TODAY !!!!!
00:06 XSerpentX 12v / 0.8Ah
00:06 rue_mohr 15 cells,
00:06 theBear heh nah, not really
00:07 rue_mohr so 22.5 when the battieries are at peak voltage
00:07 rue_mohr and it'll drain them down to 0.8V and still have the 12V you want
00:07 rue_mohr no 12V is what you want 0.8V is the lowest battery voltage
00:07 rue_mohr meaning 15 cells
00:08 XSerpentX what
00:08 XSerpentX really
00:08 rue_mohr how many cells would you need if they each had only .8V left in them to get 12V?
00:08 XSerpentX i'm sure your math is ok
00:08 XSerpentX but they go that low
00:08 XSerpentX they vary that much i mean
00:08 rue_mohr no, 0.8V is a dead alkaline
00:08 XSerpentX i just bought some energizers ak
00:08 XSerpentX 1.5v
00:09 XSerpentX but ur saying realistically they drop to .8a
00:09 rue_mohr yea
00:09 XSerpentX .8v
00:09 XSerpentX fuck me
00:09 rue_mohr when their dead, their .8V
00:09 rue_mohr when their dead
00:09 XSerpentX what about like
00:09 XSerpentX 15%
00:09 XSerpentX 1.25
00:09 rue_mohr your gonna throw your batteries out at 1.25V?
00:10 rue_mohr http://media.digikey.com/pdf/Data%20Sheets/Panasonic%20Batteries%20PDFS/Panasonic%20Industrial%20AA%20LR6XWA.pdf
00:10 rue_mohr ^^ open that
00:10 XSerpentX well i was genna make a niMH battery pack
00:10 XSerpentX assuming all goes well with my AK pack
00:10 rue_mohr see how fast the batteries drop to 1.3V?
00:11 rue_mohr if you say 1.25V
00:11 rue_mohr 12V is 10 cells
00:11 rue_mohr so 15V is full charge
00:11 XSerpentX ok
00:11 XSerpentX i think 8 will be ok tho
00:11 XSerpentX the dc motor can survive at 8v
00:11 XSerpentX i'm sure
00:12 rue_mohr at 1.25V 8 cells
00:12 XSerpentX it's just i only really have room for 8 cells
00:12 XSerpentX i mean, i could probably expand it out
00:12 XSerpentX maybe to 12 cells
00:12 rue_mohr li-ion are 2.1Ah and cost $7 ea 3.6V
00:12 XSerpentX my modifiying the car structure
00:13 XSerpentX but the battery bay as it is now can only fit 8
00:13 XSerpentX and as long as it doesn't drop below 7.5v
00:13 XSerpentX the netduiono will continue to function
00:13 XSerpentX and i had the dc motor running on 5v
00:13 XSerpentX just it stalls kinda
00:13 XSerpentX like
00:13 XSerpentX well let me try it again
00:13 rue_mohr http://search.digikey.com/ca/en/products/TL-5104%2FS/439-1012-ND/512514
00:14 rue_mohr eeek
00:14 rue_mohr look at the discharge curve on that!
00:14 rue_mohr --------_
00:15 orlok Hmm..
00:15 orlok is .stl a standard format?
00:15 rue_mohr dunno
00:15 rue_mohr I use hpgl
00:15 orlok ... for what?
00:16 rue_mohr oh my they are only rated to 2mA
00:16 Triffid_Hunter orlok: yeah STL is standard, albeit primitive
00:16 orlok ah yup: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STL_%28file_format%29
00:17 orlok and what is "chemical wood"
00:19 lok is looking at getting a Roland CNC
00:19 rue_mohr its whats left of my etching table
00:19 rue_mohr and "that area of the bench"
00:20 XSerpentX ok so 5v the wheels spin
00:20 XSerpentX like..tank speed
00:20 orlok i have my arduino code at the point where i need to write a decent serial command parser
00:20 XSerpentX 12v and it can outrun you for sure
00:20 orlok XSerpentX: gearing!
00:20 orlok XSerpentX: is that with gearing, and is there any load?
00:21 XSerpentX with high speed gearing
00:21 XSerpentX so basically when the batteries run to about .9v each, my netduiono will prolly stop working
00:22 rue_mohr an avr crashes at about 1.7V
00:22 XSerpentX yeah
00:22 orlok $895 for a 3 axis CNC mill
00:22 XSerpentX nice, buy it
00:22 rue_mohr orlok, 4" mill?
00:22 rue_mohr (15cm)
00:23 orlok heh, smaller i think.. would you beleive it starts with a lower-case i?
00:23 rue_mohr if I powered a truck with AA NIMH
00:23 rue_mohr that can push up to 2.5A ea
00:23 rue_mohr and the truck ran 600VDC
00:24 rue_mohr and the nom voltage for the batts is 1.2V
00:24 orlok 86mmx55mmx26mm
00:24 rue_mohr it would take 500cells for each series circuit
00:25 rue_mohr 600V * 2.5A = 2HP
00:25 orlok so tiny workspace
00:25 XSerpentX ok
00:25 orlok but its a "name brand"
00:25 rue_mohr say 16HP
00:25 rue_mohr 8*500 cells
00:25 XSerpentX we really need better batteries
00:25 rue_mohr 4 * 1000 = 4000 cells
00:25 XSerpentX like they ones they use in star wars
00:26 XSerpentX someone needs to make nuclear batteries
00:26 rue_mohr $14,514.37 from dk
00:26 rue_mohr suppose I'd need 4000 battery holders too
00:27 rue_mohr but, for the record, each cell is only $3.63
00:27 XSerpentX i'm sure, u would just move to lead acid car batties now?
00:27 orlok XSerpentX: RTG's
00:27 orlok XSerpentX: its what russia uses to power light houses and stuff
00:27 XSerpentX Real time gross settlement?
00:29 rue_mohr $10,380.46 if I use the dk energizer ones with the same specs
00:29 orlok radio thermal generators
00:30 rue_mohr and I'd get free shipping
00:30 rue_mohr hahahaha
00:30 XSerpentX 2,800-1,000 R/h
00:31 XSerpentX that's what i'm talking about
00:31 XSerpentX my Nuclear RC car would be AMAZING
00:31 rue_mohr hmm
00:32 rue_mohr I didn't calculate in run time
09:09 rue_mohr http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=KR3IiXvzrds#!
09:09 rue_mohr REALLY well done arm
18:33 XSerpentX phew
19:36 rue_mohr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Bh7JqVw-o&feature=related
19:59 zhanx evening
20:15 rue_mohr hi
20:23 Tom_itx ho
20:23 rue_mohr hi
20:31 Tom_itx ho
20:35 rue_shop2 off to work we go
20:35 Tom_itx hi ho hi ho hi ho
20:46 rue_shop2 rest of the words tom does not know...
20:47 Tom_itx fraid not
21:47 rue_mohr my high side current sense amp worked
21:47 rue_mohr I'm shocked, usually I cant get op-amp circuits to co-operate at all
22:23 rue_mohr the board design already has4 op-amps on it for the individual channel currents
22:25 rue_mohr I'd need to add 6 op-amps to compare the currents to the limits
22:26 the_jester greets to room
22:27 the_jester im trying to reflow on my woodstove..lol
22:27 rue_mohr hah
22:28 the_jester im pulling blue smd leds
22:28 rue_mohr the playstation?
22:28 rue_mohr heh
22:29 the_jester im noticing by the time the board is hot enough to pull the parts im having a hard time getting near enough to it to do anything, and once its off the heat the solder re hardens before you can pull the part
22:29 rue_mohr heh
22:29 e_mohr gives the_jester some looooong twee
22:30 rue_mohr hows xlinix programming going?
22:31 rue_mohr oh the_jester I got an RF link working
22:31 rue_mohr transmitted a 555 signal across the shop
22:31 rue_mohr AND get this!
22:32 rue_mohr I modded a 27Mhz rc car reciever to operate at 33.333Mhz
22:32 rue_mohr it JUST HAPPENS that osc modules for that freq are easy to get :)
22:34 the_jester shit, lost one on the stove, that might smell
22:34 rue_mohr I have to stop buying stuff from dk for projects I dont make
22:35 the_jester clpd programming not happening yet, got flammed out of a channel the otherday for asking for help, typ irc joy
22:36 rue_mohr ? which channel?
22:36 the_jester dalnet #FW
22:36 rue_mohr huh
22:36 Triffid_Hunter the_jester: need a grille so the heat comes from the top, then suspend the board over a tray and tap it.. when it gets up to temperature, many of the parts will rain down. magnets help overcome solder's surface tension if you want to pull small parts as well
22:37 the_jester i could prob do that on thw woodstove, leave it on till i get a good melt and tap over a sheet of paper
22:38 Triffid_Hunter let us know how you go :()
22:38 Triffid_Hunter :)
22:39 the_jester Rue: CLPD programming would be easier if i had a board..lol
22:41 the_jester or a desk lamp now that i think abut it, my eyes are not what they were 10 years ago
22:41 rue_mohr hey last weekend I made tweezers to do some large smt resistors
22:42 rue_mohr I knew I should have built a micro robot arm under a magnifying glass
22:43 the_jester it would be a non issue if we could acheave reasonable board resolution
22:43 rue_mohr 3d printer!
22:43 rue_mohr :)
22:44 the_jester we are not going to be able to 3d pring a vqfp44 breakout board
22:44 the_jester i asked tom if he could help, said he was out of etchant
22:53 home I have a fishertecknik robot sitting beside me
22:53 home but have to do other stuff...
22:56 rue_mohr oh damn I should have worked on the cnc more
22:56 rue_mohr I'm stuck on the overload detector for my hexapod
22:56 rue_mohr two power rails, +24 and -24
22:58 rue_mohr each leg must not consume more than 3A
23:00 the_jester fuse
23:00 the_jester lol
23:00 rue_mohr no, I want computer resettable breakers
23:00 rue_mohr I have disconnect relays
23:01 rue_mohr triggering them is hte problem
23:02 the_jester aha
23:02 rue_mohr ah, maybe 7414 can save me
23:02 rue_mohr oo actually
23:14 rue_mohr oh what about a peak detector
23:15 rue_mohr aha
23:16 rue_mohr ok that only ads two op-amps to the circuit
23:17 rue_mohr and 8 diodes, but whatever
23:17 rue_mohr then if any one axis goes over 1A in either polarity, I'm convered
23:17 rue_mohr covered
23:22 rue_mohr as I need to use a driver transistor anyhow
23:22 rue_mohr I can use two and make a RS latch to latch the relay
23:27 rue_mohr or not I can use the +24 on the disconnect relay to force the transistor to stay on
